• Boat Review: Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht

This yacht was a big shot when it first apeared. For the curious minds, the price is somewhere betwen $170,000 and $260,000. You can't find a new one because because it isn't manufactured anymore but still, most of them are in good shape.

According to Riviera website the 3600 in its 2009 introduced Series II variant is still available. http://www.riviera.com.au/3600-sport-yacht-home.html

Indeed, you're right! Sorry for the misinformation. I checked some yacht directories, they gave me 0 results for new ones so I assumed that it isn't available anymore. Next time I'll make sure to check on the official page also ;)

It is possible you are half right, or they are building it to order. To know this you need to send an e-mail to Riviera. I would not be surprised if a change is in order, as recent Riviera models last about three to four years, and the new Sport Yachts have taken a more European flavour unlike the more American of the 3600. The 3600 Series II has been going on for seven years now. But may it still selling how it is, so if it did not break why fix it!

Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht Series II with IPS

The 3600 sport yacht, open for your enjoyment.

One of the most striking features of the 3600 Sport Yacht is the large rear awning window and door between the cockpit and saloon. Not only is it extremely stylish with tinted glass set in a bold, highly polished stainless steel frame, it opens up to create the ultimate indoor-outdoor feeling. The two areas seamlessly flow into one to produce a unique alfresco experience.

The fact that the gourmet galley is on the same level as the cockpit and salon also means that the chef remains in the middle of the party. The galley is just a step away from the cockpit and for entertaining there is a second refrigerator here.

At every turn you will find Riviera ingenuity – such as the flat screen television in the saloon that raises and lowers out of sight at the touch of a button, the way the stainless steel swim ladder folds away, and the discreetly placed drink holders on the foredeck sunpad. As for comfort, the large L-shaped lounge with its soft leather and deep cushions is probably more inviting than the lounge in your living room.

The 3600 Sport Yacht epitomises, easy living and an idyllic environment to share leisure time with your family and friends. But this is a yacht of real substance too, one that boasts the most sophisticated design and construction methods including a hand-laid solid fibreglass hull with separate compartments throughout the hull and a watertight collision bulkhead forward.

The 3600 Sport Yacht is powered by the inspired Volvo Penta IPS pod drive system that is exceptionally smooth and quiet whilst unbelievably responsive and fuel-efficient. This may be a new style of motor yacht but the quality and superior technology tells you that it is every inch a Riviera.

Style or good taste may be hard to define but you instantly recognise it when you see it… and you will see it here in abundance. It’s in everything from the subtle colour contrasts of the plush headliner material to the use of a light cherry timber with a satin finish. Even details such as the fabric concealing the saloon speakers and the stylish air conditioning vents have been carefully considered and beautifully executed.

2008 Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht This VERY lightly used (355 hours) 3600 is a one-owner boat sold new by us and only used in the brackish, 70% fresh, waters of the upper Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis.  She is being traded in on a new 44 Riviera, showing the owner's pleasure with his boat. The upgraded 380 Cummins QSB common rail diesels, Riviera Blue Awlgripped hullsides, and all factory options make for a great package.  She just had a Garmin 7610 plotter installed.  Additionally, to show the owner's devotion to passing along a turnkey boat, in October 2015 the hullsides were polished and any imperfections in the hullsides were removed.  The boat was also fully detailed and new cutlass bearings were installed along with new Propspeed on the running gear. Single level living with an open plan saloon that opens out to the generous cockpit featuring comfortable built in seating and folding table. Riviera’s trademark stainless steel awning window raises skyward to harmoniously bring these two spaces together as one sheltered but outdoor focused living space.

The master cabin forward offers luxurious owner’s accommodation with a large island double berth and 2 guest berths are provided in the bunk cabin to port. Both cabins have easy access to the large and well laid out bathroom to starboard.

Benefitting from later generation common rail injected Cummins QSB engines and the low cost simplicity of twin shaft drive this 3600 Sport Yacht offers clean running and easy maintenance boating.

This is a two cabin, single head Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht powered by a pair of 380hp Cummins QSB diesels with electronic controls.  The hull is designed with prop pockets for better shaft angle and less draft and features underwater exhausts for better sound control.  One of the more unique features of this model is the door and window between the salon and cockpit both open together to make the two areas flow into one, making it perfect for entertaining.

2009 - RIVIERA 3600 SPORT YACHT IPS

Following the success of the Riviera 4400 Sport Yacht with its revolutionary Volvo Penta Inboard Propulsion System (IPS) in 2008, an IPS version of the 3600 Sport Yacht was launched the following year, giving this pioneering model a new lease of life.

In all respects but the propulsion system, the design and layout of the successful sport yacht remained the same: two cabins, enclosed bathroom and a single-level entertaining area from the aft cockpit through the saloon with its galley along the starboard side, dinette opposite and helm forward.

Trade-A-Boat magazine stated: “The 3600 Sport Yacht has universally appealing design traits that centre on human factors, ergonomics and amenities.”

Power and Motoryacht’s reviewer described her as a “handsome package” going on to state that “it’s the single-level living space that sets her apart”.

She was powered by twin Volvo D6 turbo diesel engines rated to 310 hp connecting to the IPS drives.

The shaft drive version ceased production in 2008 and the 3600 IPS Sport Yachts continued from 2009 to 2014 with the production 26 boats.
