OUR ADVANCED TOOLKIT

Azimut’s pioneering use of carbon fiber lamination goes beyond pure performance. The Carbon-Tech Generation offers expanded volumes on board, while maintaining excellent dynamic stability and perfect handling. Preserving the yacht’s low center of gravity, the carbon fiber was focused on the upper parts of the yacht, lightening the laminated components by up to 30% and reducing the natural roll momentum up to 15%.

Automatic interceptors by Humphree gives the vessel the lift it needs to get up on plane faster or to reach that optimum running trim. In this way the resistance of the hull is automatically optimised for every speed and load condition, this resulting in increased speed and lower fuel consumption. The Humphree system is all electric powered by 12-24 Volt DC. Thanks to the design of the Interceptor it only requires a small amount of power to move the blade up and down, even under high speed operation.

The stabilization system consists of Stabilis Electra™ stabilizing fins and Dualis Electra™ thrusters. Reliable, precise and silent, the stabilizing fins are even capable of reducing energy consumption. The thrusters’ quality casting and mechanics yield a high thrust-to-power ratio, higher than other systems.

The helm displays consolidate all the functions of the yacht with Simrad Command, from the visualization of engine data and related consumption, to the control of generators, trim and interceptor management, lights, batteries and air conditioning. There are also advanced navigation tools and system automations to make the pilot’s job easier.

According to Insider , the rent of the yacht was $239,500 per week, so the soccer star decided to purchase a yacht for himself.

In 2020, Ronaldo spotted the yacht in Viareggio, Italy, at the Azimut-Benetti Shipyards before buying it for himself. Called the Azimut-Grande 27, the yacht offers dynamic stability with its carbon-fiber structure that reduces weight and increases the surface area. Azimut-Grande 27 was designed by Achille Salvagni Architects, while the prolific superyacht designer Stefano Righini completed the exterior styling. The yacht's overall length is 26.78 meters, width is 6.59 meters with a maximum speed of 28 knots, as reported by Azimut Yachts .

The yacht's interior is equipped with space and comfort that the family can enjoy. It features five expansive bedrooms and six equally stunning bathrooms. Additionally, it has two lounge rooms with a dining table in the adjoining open area for a romantic dinner. The kitchen is stocked with modern appliances for the crew to make meals, as stated by Daily Star . The deck has an open bar with two lounge areas to bask in the sunlight next to it. The Owner's Cabin is located on the yacht's Main Deck and has full-height windows on all sides to offer a scenic view of the ocean.

The Azimut-Grande 27 was built considering the highest nautical standards and has received the CE Category A and NMMA certifications that ensure that the boat follows two important safety codes. At the Wheelhouse, the yacht is equipped with an Optimus Electronic Power Steering system created by Seastar Solutions and helps the owner configure responses to eliminate hydraulic lines from the helm station. With its Active Trim Control, the superyacht offers an increase in speed and lower fuel consumption.

As mentioned by The Sun , after purchasing the Azimut-Grande 27, Cristiano Ronaldo first set sail on the superyacht in 2020 and took it on a debut voyage to the Tyrrhenian coast, which is a part of the Mediterranean Sea with his girlfriend and children. The soccer star showed off the new purchase on Instagram to his more than 400 million followers. He has continued to set sail on the yacht during summers and taking time off from playing on the soccer field.

Ronaldo has been spotted on the yacht multiple times, including when his team was eliminated from the Round of 16 at Euro 2020, and he decided to take a break with his family. As a part of the Italian football club Juventus, he spends most of his time in Italy and sets sail along the beautiful coasts. He has also traveled to a small commune in Italy called Celle Ligure. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the soccer star spent uninterrupted time on the yacht away from the public with his family, enjoying the sea and staying aboard the luxury vessel.

Cristiano Ronaldo loves to live his life in luxury and has always maintained his status symbol as having one of the most lavish lifestyles of any athlete. The soccer player also continues to work hard to earn his big paychecks as he practices for his games while continuing his deal with the soccer club Juventus, which will end in 2022.

Grande 27M: The truly one-of-a-kind yacht from Azimut

There is a lot to like about the new Azimut Grande 27M making its public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017 and Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show — dynamic lines, exceptionally elegant and detailed interior décor, a sporty turn of speed and the innovative way it is made.

The headliner from Azimut is that this is one of a kind: the “only 27 metre, raised pilothouse, widebody five cabin boat on the market,” says Giovanna Vittelli, the company’s vice president. The new Azimut is also, according to the founder of Azimut, Paolo Vittelli, the largest boat in the world to have built “open.” But what does this mean?

Once the hull, which is infused, was popped out of the mould and flipped right side up, everything was installed in it, including finished furniture, before the 16 tonne finished superstructure was lifted onto it and secured. This is the way that Azimut builds all of its smaller models in its high-tech plant in Avigliana, but it the first time the builder attempted this on a yacht of this size.

The approach allows Azimut to reach a new level of efficiency — with the ambition to built 10 to 11 of these boats a year, after an initial run of eight in 2017, without taking away the feel of a custom finish. It also is a good way to optimise space and installation of all systems. “We need very precise construction tolerance. Everything in GRP is produced from CNC milled moulds. The structure of the furniture is CNC cut before it is hand finished,” says Azimut’s chief technical officer, Alessandro Rossi.

There may still have been a few nail biting moments when the two halves came together at the shipyard in Viareggio (where the Grande 27M was built), but not too many. The owner of the first hull, a repeat Azimut client, was confident. When he set his eyes on his new boat for the first time at the Azimut Benetti Yachting Gala in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, this past June, all he’d seen were drawings and a few construction photos. He never once went to the factory.

“I may not be typical,” he says as we sit for a chat on board his boat while a constant stream of visitors flows through. He is probably right. It’s taken him just three years to get from his first Azimut 50 to his fourth and far larger Azimut, which takes a crew of four — not a typical curve. He’s young, energetic and likes to spend extended periods of times on his boats and could hardly wait to get on with an extended cruising program through the Mediterranean.

He and his wife bought the boat just as designed. One upgrade they did do was a sophisticated sound system, with multiple speakers, woofers and an Apple TV system. Although this model, like all boats in the Azimut Grande range, can be tailored to some extent, the company went to extreme lengths to anticipate customer needs, offering a four- or five-cabin layout (with various bed configurations) and three complete design packages by Achille Salvagni , the interior designer behind the award winning superyacht Numptia (now High Power III ).

Salvagni has worked with the Italian boat builder before but the two new Grandes, the 27M and the flagship Grande 35M also just debuting, are the first examples of his fully realised vision.

“I am a big fan of St Laurent and Chanel where simplicity is extremely sophisticated,” he says ”and in this case, we wanted to drive this ambitious goal to be sophisticated, simple and timeless at the same time. This is a yacht that you will see replicated over and over, but the level of detail is closer to a one of a kind yacht.”

He is speaking of the Grande line’s new flagship 35M, which he also designed, but the same applies to some extent to the smaller sister. The refinement of materials, such as brushed oak, teak treated with a black resin that almost looks like veneer in a stone, varnished mahogany and Carrara marble, and the level of detail is remarkable. Salvagni also produces a line of fine furniture and the shapely pieces on board look sophisticated and are beautifully finished. The turnkey interior even includes a selection of art pieces.

Salvagni has used the generous space afforded by the “widebody” design wisely from the superb full-beam master cabin with floor-to-ceiling windows on main deck to the five cabins below. There, he’s oriented the queen size beds away from the hull sides to gain even more space. In the twin cabin the beds are installed in a big V, which creates plenty of floor space.

The Azimut 27M answers a conundrum: “Volume is what everybody is expecting, yet the Azimut DNA is sporty lines,” Giovanna Vittelli says. The challenge was to reconcile the two, to build a boat with space for 10 guests and generously sized crew quarters for four (two cabins and heads), plus a tender garage  suitable for a 4.5-metre Williams tightly fitted between the engines and released via a pivoting system over the swim platform.

One of the solutions was to opt for relatively small engines, which are 1,900hp MAN V12s, to minimize the engine room space, but come up with a planing hull design and weight that would allow for a top speed of 27 knots. Part of the recipe for success is, as is often the case these days, composite construction — the use of more carbon fibre for the main deck and superstructure, roll bar and hardtop and, as seems to be a renewed trend at the moment, a raised pilothouse design.

On the styling front, the task of visually slimming this high-volume boat, which does not act as one, went to the immensely experienced Stefano Righini . The Azimut Grande 27M, finished with a gelcoat, looks pretty fast — the styling aptly concealing all that’s within and the size of the flybridge. It is well equipped with, among other equipment, hydraulically operated bow and stern thrusters, CMC fin stabilisers and an integrated monitoring and navigation system by Naviop and Simrad.

Fresh out of the shipyard in Viareggio, the very first Azimut Grande 27M took the nine-hour trip to Porto Cervo for its debut in front of 700 owners who responded to Azimut Benetti’s invitation. Sea trials show the maximum range to be around 800 nautical miles at 12 knots and more then 400 at 18 knots. The cruising speed is around 20 knots, with a fuel consumption at that speed of around 400 litres per hour.

Whether you like the softer side of things, and enjoy the look of a well-designed piece of furniture, or like the performance aspect and engineering side, the Azimut Grande 27M has a lot to offer.

A spectacular main deck master suite makes the sporty new Azimut Grande 27 Metri feel far bigger than its 87ft length would suggest

Azimut ’s new, raised-pilothouse Grande range kicked off in spectacular style last year with the 35 Metri, a true game-changer among motor yachts with its efficient, wave-piercing hull design, which was widely admired on its launch and showered with awards, not least from MBY , who considered it the best yacht in its class at the 2018 Motor Boat Awards .

Subsequent Grande designs have proved more evolutionary than revolutionary, but their highly distinctive styling bespeaks a confidence of purpose that Azimut has seldom lacked even in its most innovative periods. There is certainly no mistaking the new Grande 27 Metri, with its cacophony of window shapes, uncompromising angles and bold curves.

You know at a glance not only that it’s a Stefano Righini design, but also that it’s not going to be boring – and like its bigger, wave-piercing sister, it has ideas that help move the game on.

Azimut Grandes are designed to be noticed

Stepping aboard, the herds of free-roaming sofas and armchairs in the saloon impart the faint air of a furniture showroom, but with its 6ft 7in (2.01m) of headroom and wide, bright vistas on three sides, it’s as comfortable an environment for lounging around and socialising as it might be for shopping.

The Achille Salvagni interior design comes in three ‘moods’ for customers to choose from. Our test boat’s, with its pale upholstery, glossy mahogany, walnut panels, bronze detailing and light oak floors, was called ‘Riviera’.

Extensive use of lightweight materials in the Grande 27 Metri’s construction – carbon reinforcement throughout the superstructure, with an all-carbon radar arch, transom and hardtop – is not so much to make the yacht lighter, but to make it bigger without the weight penalty.

You can see this in its profile: the coachroof carries right to the bow while the saloon extends almost as far aft, with a long flybridge overhang protecting the cockpit. The essential benefit of this rugby-ball shape is, of course, internal volume.

And nowhere is this better demonstrated than on the main deck, forward, where the master suite luxuriates in a spacious and light compartment with, again, 6ft 7in of headroom, an excellent full-beam layout (there are no side decks at this point) and a bathroom with two sinks, a separate head and a big shower compartment.

The artificial teak floor will undoubtedly be more practical than the real thing, although I was told it was selected not for environmental reasons, as you might imagine, but because some owners object to the smell of wet teak.

This luxurious owner’s area is not just the best in its class, but the only one – no other mainstream builder of fast flybridge yachts, whether in the UK, Europe or the US, currently offers anything at this hull length that quite compares.

It’s not, technically, on the main deck, being down a few steps on its own level, but it’s nevertheless well above the waterline and – along with the Grande 27 Metri’s raised pilothouse, with the galley and day head beneath – this helps impart the feeling of being aboard a significantly bigger motor yacht.

The master suite is quite a feature, made all the more telling because as a cabin it betrays no sense of having been squeezed in to make a point, or to provide the sales team with a story. It works. It’s comfortable. It’s even got a dressing room. And those windows are huge.

Rooms with a view

Lifting the owner’s suite out of the lower deck leaves plenty of space for everyone else down there, and in the standard five-cabin layout, as seen on our test boat, the lower accommodation is arranged in two quite reasonable double VIP suites amidships, and a pair of symmetrical twin-berth cabins forward.

Bold curves are a stylistic feature throughout

All the berths are at least 6ft 4in (1.93m) long and of generous width. Stowage volumes look adequate – there is a very useful locker hidden in that curvy companionway – and nowhere does headroom dip below 6ft 6in. Needless to say (because it’s 2019) every cabin has its own good-sized hull window.

There is also an optional four-cabin version of the Grande 27 Metri, where the VIP on the port side becomes a twin, while a section of the central lobby and the two forward cabins are given over to a full-beam VIP, which looks like it might be truly worthy of that description.

The huge, full-beam, full-length flybridge, on the other hand, seems to deserve slightly more hyperbolic nomenclature, while the cockpit, luxuriating under that long, sheltering overhang and buttressed against the breeze by swooping superstructure mouldings, would be hard to beat as a place to enjoy breakfast. Extra open-air seating on the foredeck – or more accurately, the coachroof – is complemented by a large sunbathing area down forward.

There might be two lower-deck layouts to choose from and three interior design options, but when it comes to power plants, the Grande 27 Metri offers just the one. Cramped slightly by the tender garage over the centreline but otherwise reasonably accessible, the twin 1,900hp MAN V12s dwell in a nicely organised space well aft, hooked up to V-drive transmissions and separated from the lower-deck accommodation by the roomy two-cabin, two heads crew quarters.

Power steering

No lightweight, in spite of all the carbon fibre in its construction – I blame all that heavy glass – the Grande 27 Metri nevertheless accelerated well, and we were soon barrelling along over a light, two-foot chop at better than 28 knots.

Effective fin stabilisers kept us dead level even in high-speed turns, and proved equally capable at displacement speeds, even when coursing along our own wake. The adjustable Seastar electronic power steering – beloved by boatbuilders because it’s far simpler to run cables from the helm to the rudders than hydraulic pipes – proved to have just the right amount of artificial ‘feel’, and with a willing throttle response from the torquey V12s, the driving experience was excellent.

The Grande 27 Metri was also fitted with Humphree’s interceptors on the transom, rather than conventional tabs, which in their fully automatic mode, once properly set up, look after both longitudinal and lateral trim throughout the speed range, not only reducing the workload for the helmsman but also optimising cruising fuel efficiency.

Our verdict

Azimut’s Grande yachts are designed to be noticed – there’s no chance you’ll mistake one for anything else. The Grande 35 Metri deserved all the attention and plaudits it received, particularly for its pioneering hull design.

But while built on more conventional naval architecture, the Grande 27 Metri can hold its head up in any company, for an innovative superstructure design that provides such excellent potential for the interior. Raised pilothouse layouts and forward master suites used to be the preserve of 90-plus footers and beyond. Not any more.

Design-Driven: The Azimut Grande 27 Metri

The newest generation of Azimut Grande yachts melds edge and elegance, muscle and mellow. Longtime Azimut stylist Stefano Righini’s exteriors are getting sharper and more aggressive with each new season. At the same time, interiors are getting softer and gentler, thanks to Achille Salvagni’s delicate touch. The builder’s 27 Metri is a perfect example. She’s an 87-foot-10-inch raised pilothouse model with a full-beam, main-deck owner’s stateroom — replacing the Azimut 88, a conventional flybridge design. The 27 Metri’s look and layout are proving popular: The first 10 hulls sold prior to her debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Outside Spaces

UP FRONT It seems that every conceivable square inch of outside space is utilized on the 27 Metri. Take the flares of her snub-nose bow and squared-off stems, for example. These spaces do more than create distinctive personality; they deliver functionality. The yacht’s forward seating and sun pad are actually tiered, almost terraced, a layout that is not possible unless the space is properly proportioned.

The other end of the 27 Metri has a similarly smart design. The aft deck connects with the main salon through clean-frame, aft-deck doors, and a few steps down, the garage door opens to create a teak beach.

UPSTAIRS Ashore, I love a good bar. And to be honest, on the right (or wrong) occasions, I don’t mind a bad bar. But bars on yachts? Normally, I don’t like them. Never have.

And yet, the spot I found I wanted to linger in aboard the 27 Metri was the flybridge bar. The view was great, and because an optional opening hardtop protected the bar area from the full scorch of the early morning Côte d’Azur sun, the place proved perfect for scribbling my notes while pondering just how pleasant the world could be on such mornings afloat.

Inside Spaces

PERFECTIONIST Salvagni is known for fluid lines and large radii. His interior design style manages to be both now and then, and that’s a good thing. The 27 Metri’s interior, just like that of Azimut’s new 35 Metri, is the best of ­clichés: timeless and elegant, but still front-cover, Fashion Week trendy.

Probably most extraordinary is the balance created among light, dark and midtones. If I were forced to choose one ­overarching adjective, it would be “calm.” Our test boat fused light, matte walnuts; dark, high-gloss mahogany; and whitened oak soles, along with mirrors, contrasting lacquers, leathers and brushed bronzes.

Beyond the color palette, Salvagni’s studio drew much of the free-standing furniture and assorted fittings throughout the yacht, including several standard lamps. The pieces are exclusive to Azimut yacht owners — which should make plenty of landlubbers jealous considering Salvagni is already well-known beyond yachting circles. He has branded atelier collections and opened high-end stores in New York, London and his home city of Rome.

CONNECTIONS Forward of the open-plan salon and dining area are two mirrored doors. The one to port conceals a long, slender pantry and galley, while the one to starboard connects with the main-deck lobby, day-head, staircases and the door to the owner’s stateroom. Both the pantry and lobby have doors to the side decks too.

OWNER’S TREAT The main-deck owner’s stateroom is down three steps from the main-deck lobby. Picture windows dominate the ­stateroom on both sides, and though a horizontal framing breaks the windows where a rubbing strake would normally be, the glass extends from sole to almost ceiling height. Look at the photo at left, and you can see just how big the windows are. Waking up in bed with those views, I thought, would make me never want to get up.

DOWNSTAIRS Stairs to the lower deck spiral down and to the right, then to the left, in a design reminiscent of a double helix. It’s quite art deco, actually, which is probably why I particularly like it.

Owners can opt for three or four staterooms belowdecks. Our test boat, Hull No. 2, had four. The two doubles amidships had inboard-facing berths, and the two twin-berth staterooms forward had aft-facing berths. All were en suite. I liked the twins because the berths were presented asymmetrically, with the outer one splayed by 15 to 20 degrees. The layout made the stateroom feel more welcoming than traditional twin-berth setups.

CREW SPACE As is traditional with European culture and yacht design, the crew quarters are minimalistic compared with the guest areas. Access to the crew space is via a side door on the port quarter side deck, a location that is convenient to the galley, straight down a ladder.

Owners can select from multiple crew-space layouts that have cabins for three or four crew, one or two head/shower compartments, and mess areas.

Crew have access from here to the engine room through a door. Headroom in the machinery spaces is reduced, allowing extra room for the garage sole above.

PILOTHOUSE The raised-pilothouse layout is conventional. Stairs lead here from the starboard-side main lobby, as well as from the flybridge via a sliding hatch. A pilot-berth sofa is to port, and there is a standing helm backrest, as opposed to a helm seat, abaft the wheel.

In keeping with the rest of the yacht, the pilothouse décor creates a “guests are welcome” feeling. The space also feels large, when so many RPHs feel just the opposite, and the visibility is terrific

Performance

CARBON FIBER The Azimut Grande 27 Metri comes with twin 1,900 mhp MAN V-12s, 3-to-1 V-boxes and five-blade props. At half-load, and with those diesels spinning at their maximum 2,355 rpm, my test boat made an average top speed of 28 knots across several reciprocal runs — impressive achievement for 90-plus tons of yacht, and more than enough for our photographer, who asked us to slow down because we were leaving his drone behind.

Pierluigi Ausonio’s deep-V hull form delivers the competence we have all come to expect from a big Azimut. Beyond that, the design engineers can take a great deal of credit for getting more and more volume and functionality out of what sits above the waterline — all without compromising perform­ance or stability. The secret is resin infusion (which makes for efficient laminates) and plenty of carbon-fiber reinforcement. Azimut uses more and more of the black stuff these days. You can’t see it, but it’s there, buried beneath the gelcoat in the bow area, superstructure, flybridge, garage door, arch and hardtop. It saves a lot of weight in all the right places.

LONG RANGE With the 1,900 hp MANs, and excluding a 10 percent fuel reserve, the 27 Metri’s legs are relatively long. She’s good for at least 1,000 nautical miles at around 10 knots, which has always been my favorite chug-along speed anyway, not only for comfort but also to simplify passage planning during the pre-GPS days. Owners who want more speed will be good on fuel for at least 700 nautical miles at 12 knots. And for those who want to run fast for fun, this Azimut will manage almost half that range at twice the speed, meaning around 340 nautical miles at a maximum continuous cruise of about 24 knots.

C ristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are enjoying their summer holidays in luxurious fashion, on a six million euro yacht in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Portuguese forward has an uncertain future having asked to leave Manchester United ahead of the new season, but he looked in good spirits on his yacht.

This is not just any yacht. Ronaldo 's yacht is the Azimut Grande 27 Metri, an exclusive yacht that the striker bought last year for six million euros.

Azimut Grande 27 Metri Review: A Matter of Trust

Trust is always earned, never given and with 10 Grande 27 Metri sold off plan well before its Cannes Yachting Festival premier, Azimut’s customer base has put a lot of faith in the Italian shipyard. Has their brand loyalty been justified? We’re about to find out in Azimut Grande 27 Metri review…

Although not the biggest boat show on the calendar, the Cannes Yachting Festival, being the first event of the European season, has always been the place to debut a new model. For this year, Azimut presented four new yachts: the 60 Fly, the S7, the Grande 35 Metri flagship, and her slightly smaller sister, the Grande 27 Metri.

M/Y Dawo is an outstanding Azimut Grande 27 Metri available for charter in the Adriatic. Besides, the crew of four will ensure a relaxed and customized vacation for their guests.

We will of course be featuring each of theses models but here we’re specifically to view the Grande 27 Metri, a yacht that has caught the imagination of Azimut owners across the globe. One of the Cannes Yachting Festival’s major attractions is its sea trials.

At certain times of the day, Le Vieux Port comes alive with boats of all sizes heading out on to the Goulfe De La Napoule for a quick test of the Azimut Grande 27 Metri.

Amusingly, this flotilla also causes the infamous ‘Cannes Boat Jam’ as up to twenty craft wait patiently for the marina’s pontoon walkway to open so they can return to their berths. And it’s here, while queuing to get in after a sea trial on another yacht, that we get to have a really good look at the widebody Azimut.

Azimut Grande 27 Metri design

Firstly, due to her sheer size (Cannes is not a superyacht show) the Grande 27 Metri stands superstructure and sundeck above every yacht around her. She also looks like nothing else, courtesy of her very bold Stefano Righini lines.

Although the bow, swooping pilot house and the ‘shark fin’ hardtop supports are classic Azimut, the huge amounts of glazing on her flanks (check out the massive Owner’s window) is something we haven’t seen before from the Italian shipyard .

The vertical bow is also becoming an integral part of Azimut Grande family style and she certainly stands out amongst her European rivals, but what can we expect inside?

Will Righini’s bold and adventurous style be carried through in the interior design? Moored stern-to in Le Vieux Port, our first close encounter with the Grande 27 Metri does not reveal a whole lot; mainly because of the privacy screen, which is hiding the cockpit’s going’s on from those on the dock. This is perfect for Mediterranean marinas and as we board via the gangway, we can’t see in, but once in the cockpit, the view out is virtually unobstructed.

Salvagni created a number of unique furnishings.

A privacy screen is such a simple idea, and as we ponder its merits, we head into the main salon. The style and ambience of the main salon sets the mood for the rest of the yacht and the Grande 27 Metri is most definitely sending us the correct signals.

The immediate feeling is of sophistication mixed with passion; if feels like the designer, who in this case is the highly respected architect Achille Salvagni, has genuinely enjoyed the challenge given to him by Azimut, and the resulting quality details really catch the eye.

Along with the huge glazing, the polished wood arch that separates the dining area really catches your eye as you stand by the cockpit door and the asymmetrical tube lighting above the dining table again makes you linger for longer than you normally would. Salvagni created a number of unique furnishings for the Grande 27’s interior, all realised by expert craftsmen.

However the Owner can opt for Salvagni’s personal selection of design pieces to match (or contrast) with the calm pastel colours of the Dedar sourced textiles and fabrics.

Moving forward, we stroll through the starboard lobby, admiring the light and dark colourway before dropping down three steps into the Owner’s Suite. Here we can see Salvagni’s signature flowing style as few of the Owner’s furnishings feature straight lines. The huge windows allow unmatched views of the sea and as the glazing is floor-to-ceiling, it is possible to gaze down into the ocean without lifting your head from the pillow.

A full beam bathroom located forward finishes off this warm and very livable suite, a testament to Azimut’s wide body concept. Heading back to the lobby and down the central staircase, we find the guest accommodation. Azimut offers two layout options for Grande 27 Metri; either four cabins consisting of two VIPs amidships and two twins forward, or one full-beam VIP forward, with a twin cabin to port and another VIP starboard.

Whichever you chose, Salvagni’s subtle use of colours, textures and woods make for a pleasant stay on board, not that you’ll be spending that much time inside…

Azimut 78 Flybridge

The Grande 27’s Raised Pilot House design is one of the reasons this yacht is so spacious. It also looks out over the expansive foredeck lounge, which is home to a three-person sunpad at the bow and a neat sofa/table arrangement at the base of the wheelhouse’s windscreen. The flybridge can be accessed from the rear of the wheelhouse or from the cockpit stairs and thanks to Azimut’s carbon fibre construction, the sun-lovers retreat is positively huge.

The exotic lightweight composite material has been used throughout the 27 Metri’s superstructure, keeping the yacht’s weight and centre of gravity low, allowing Righini to design an expansive entertainment area filled with Salvagni’s curvaceous furniture designs.

Again, subtle colours and plenty of sunpads make the flybridge one of the Grande’s most seek-outable areas. Finally, we head down the port stairways to the beach club. Here the garage door folds flat to create a pleasant waterside platform, perfect for arranging a couple of sunpads for when you climb back from a swim. Covering the garage entrance is another privacy blind, however this one is hiding the tender, which in this case is a RIB.

Powering the deep-V planing hull through the water are two MAN turbo diesels. These develop 1900 horsepower each, resulting in a top speed of 27 knots, a cruise speed of 24 knots and a range of over 800 nautical miles.

Unfortunately, due to some uncharacteristically rough French sea, we weren’t able to put the big Azimut through its paces, however, we have no doubt that the hull (which was tank tested at the Brodarsky Institute in Zagreb) can match the official figures.

Without a doubt, the trust put into Azimut by the Owners who ordered a Grande 27 Metri without even seeing it, has been returned by the shipyard – and then some. Salvagni’s interior design execution sets it apart from its rivals; it’s subtle, but exudes class and has enough detailing to give it a real New York loft feel. Add Righini’s sharp exterior design and the Azimut Grande 27 Metri makes for a modern and thoroughly original yacht.

Azimut Grande 27 METRI

Description

The gliding yacht Azimut Grande 27 METRI was presented in 2017 at the international exhibition in Helsinki, where it received the World Yacht Trophies award. The ship was designed by two old partners of the shipyard - designers Stefano Rigini and Achille Salvani. The ship received panoramic glazing of the entire cabin and large portholes in the cabins, which is why the whole yacht is filled with natural light. The interior is teak, oak, mahogany and Carrara marble. The customer is also available with several colors of trim to choose from.

This 27-meter yacht has a lot of free space. On the shaded flybridge there is a full-fledged control post, a large corner sofa, a dining table and a bar counter. For relaxation, deckchairs are also provided in the bow of the vessel and a shaded terrace from which you can go to the transom, which provides safe access to water. On the main deck there is a dining area, a cabin, a galley, a control room and an owner’s cabin with a separate bathroom and shower, wardrobe and a small sofa. On the lower deck there are four double guest cabins, each with a separate bathroom and a double crew cabin in the aft of the vessel. The customer also has a configuration with another guest cabin and a tender garage.

Some parts of the Azimut Grande 27 METRI were made from carbon fiber, which led to significant relief and made the yacht more stable.

Two MAN diesel engines with a total capacity of 3800 hp are responsible for the ship's driving performance, and the fuel tank is designed for 9500 liters. In economy mode, the yacht can go up to 800 nautical miles.

Yacht Azimut Grande 27 METRI has received the classification A.Sea Craft and can go to the open ocean.
