66m Oceanco motor yacht Luna B for sale

66m Oceanco motor yacht Luna B sold

The 66-metre motor yacht Luna B has been sold with Vesa Kaukonen of Large Yacht Corp , representing the seller and Matt Albert of Superyacht Partners representing the buyer.

Luna B started life as Dilbar and was delivered by Dutch shipyard Oceanco in 2005. She was built in steel and aluminium with a classic canoe stern and had an extensive 16-month rebuild completed in 2020.

An interior by the late Alberto Pinto offers accommodation for up to 16 guests in eight cabins including a full-beam master suite with its own lounge, double-sided drop-down television screen and adjoining private office. The remaining guest accommodation comprises a VIP suite, four doubles and two extra cabins for guests or staff.

The 1,801 GT Luna B  has had great success as a charter yacht thanks to her vast exterior decks and interior arrangement. One highlight in particular is her beamy sundeck accommodating a 19,000-litre pool and a helipad that transforms into a sun lounge. An exterior dining table that seats up to 18-guests and an outdoor cinema set-up complete this level and boost her charter appeal.

Inside, the main-deck saloon is finished in macassar, ebony and sycamore wood panelling with nickel-plated accents and large picture windows. A second lounge is found above with two lounge areas, a bar and an office space with floor-to-ceiling vertical windows.

Luna B 's tender garage houses four as-new rebuilt tenders. Her top speed is 15 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 6,000 nautical miles at 13 knots with power coming from two 3,015hp Deutz-MWM SBV12M628 diesel engines.

Luna B was last asking €42,500,000.

The vessel boasts exceptional and generous proportions, which offers spacious and well-appointed accommodation for 12 guests in 6 luxurious suites. Her interiors are by the renowned Italian designer Alberto Pinto and she is serviced by a crew of 18 highly-skilled professionals.

NOTABLE FEATURES: ~Grand Piano ~Bar ~Large sundeck ~Swim Jet Pool ~Spa pool ~Gym equipment ~Helipad ~Fantastic Beach Club ~Vast selection of water toys

LUNA B is an elegant yet relaxed yacht with living areas designed by the late Alberto Pinto. Use of high-quality materials, exquisite finishing and exceptional attention to detail are the main characteristics of this fine vessel. Bold and dynamic, the interior nicely blends old-fashioned craftsmanship and materials with cutting-edge style.

The main salon is designed around an attractive Macassar ebony and ash sycamore wood panelling punctuated by nickel-plated highlight features. There are a striking low table centrepiece and complementary furnishings in beige and brown fabrics and leather that add to the ambience.

In other areas of the yacht's interior, the dramatic darker wood reoccurs in ever more eye-catching and inventive ways. LUNA B’s state-of-the-art entertainment room on the main deck features beige and black jacquard walls, while her grand staircase is crafted from ebony, with ebony and etched glass walls and leather-covered steps.

Alongside the more casual dining arrangement on deck, LUNA B also offers two more formal dining options. The dark wood of the dining table in the main deck salon offers the perfect setting for elegant evening dining, while the lighter sycamore and straw setting of the salon and bar on the upper deck offers the added bonus of unbroken views during a long lunch.

The upper deck salon is highlighted with natural fabrics and touches of coral and blue, offering a great ambience for daytime relaxation. The undeniably luxurious yet homely design also has plenty of modern design touches. A Steinway grand piano with self-play selections and the port sidebar add to the lounge atmosphere for intimate or livelier gatherings.

LUNA B has a large sundeck that was carefully designed around a unique scallop-shaped pool that also offers swim jet and Spa Pool functions. The 16-ton pool is flanked by four wide steps in an overflow area, which allows guests to cool down simply by taking a seat in the shallows. Live updates: follow the latest news on Russia-Ukraine

Several luxury yachts owned by wealthy Russians have been detained across Europe this month.

It comes after the West imposed sanctions on oligarchs over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine .

Some have taken evasive action – two such superyachts linked to billionaire Roman Abramovich were spotted approaching the Turkish coast on Tuesday. A group of Ukrainians tried to stop one of the yachts from docking in Turkey.

Chelsea FC owner Mr Abramovich is one of several oligarchs who were added to an EU blacklist last week as governments acted to seize yachts and other luxury assets owned by the billionaires.

Western sanctions resulted in many large vessels relocating from Europe in the past few weeks. Several have headed to places such as the Maldives, which have no extradition treaty with the US.

Where is the Abramovich-owned yacht heading?

Mr Abramovich's yacht Eclipse was seen heading towards Marmaris on Tuesday, according to data compiled by monitoring site Marine Traffic, which was seen by Reuters.

The previous day, his superyacht Solaris was moored in Bodrum, about 80 kilometres from Marmaris, data showed, after skirting waters of EU countries.

There was no suggestion Mr Abramovich was on board either of the yachts.

Which yachts have been detained?

On Monday, a superyacht linked to another Russian billionaire was detained by authorities after docking in Gibraltar.

The Axioma , believed to belong to Dmitrievich Pumpyansky, moored at Gibraltar on the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, Reuters TV footage showed.

Mr Pumpyansky, who is under UK and EU sanctions, owns Russia's largest steel pipe maker TMK. Data shows the 72-metre vessel is owned by a British Virgin Islands holding company called Pyrene investments, Reuters reported. An article published as part of the Panama Papers leaks names Mr Pumpyansky as a beneficiary of the holding.

On March 12, the world's biggest sailing yacht, called Sailing Yacht A and owned by Russian billionaire Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko , was seized by Italian police.

Several other luxury yachts have also been detained across Europe, including in Gibraltar, Mallorca in Spain's Balearic Islands and the French coast.

Here are 16 superyachts linked to wealthy Russians

1. Eclipse , a superyacht linked to sanctioned Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich , was this week spotted heading in the direction of Marmaris in Turkey.

2. Solaris , belonging to Mr Abramovich , moored in Bodrum at the start of the week.

3. The Axioma superyacht, belonging to Russian oligarch Dmitrievich Pumpyansky , who is on the EU's list of sanctioned Russians, was detained by authorities after docking in Gibraltar on Monday.

4. The Crescent , which was seized by the Spanish government in Tarragona, Spain, on March 17. The ship's owner is not publicly known, although it is believed to belong to Russian Igor Sechin, head of Rosneft Oil in Moscow.

5. Ragnar , owned by former KGB officer and Russian oligarch Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, who is not on the EU sanctions list.

6. Tango , owned by Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg, who was sanctioned by the US on March 11.

7. Lady Anastasia , owned by Russian arms manufacturer Alexander Mijeev, is retained at Port Adriano, Mallorca, as a result of sanctions against Russia and Belarus issued by the European Union.

8. Valerie was seized by the Spanish government in Barcelona, Spain, on March 15. Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that the ship is linked to Rostec State Corporation’s chief executive Sergey Chemezov.

9. The $578 million Sailing Yacht A owned by Russian billionaire Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko was seized by Italian police in the port of Trieste on March 12.

10. The 156-metre Dilbar superyacht is owned by Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov.

11. La Datcha belongs to Russian billionaire businessman Oleg Tinkov.

12. Lady M , owned by Russian oligarch Alexei Mordashov, was seized by Italian police on March 5.

13. Amore Vero was seized in the Mediterranean resort of La Ciotat on March 3 by French authorities. The yacht is linked to Igor Sechin, a Putin ally who runs the Russian oil giant Rosneft.

14. Quantum Blue , owned by a company linked to Russian billionaire Sergei Galitsky, the head of Russian oil giant Rosneft, was seized in southern France on March 3.

15. Superyacht Luna is owned by Russian billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov.

16. Triple Seven is owned by Russian billionaire Alexander Abramov, according to media reports. The yacht was last up for sale in 2020 for €38 million ($41.85 million).

Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko berths superyacht in UAE

Simeon Kerr in Ras al-Khaimah

Roula Khalaf, Editor of the FT, selects her favourite stories in this weekly newsletter.

Investigators around the world have been searching for sanctions-hit Russian oligarchs’ yachts. One has been hiding in plain sight.

Italian authorities in March impounded Russian coal and fertilisers magnate Andrey Melnichenko’s $600mn Sailing Yacht A after Russia invaded Ukraine. Another yacht, the $300mn Philippe Starck-designed Motor Yacht A, has been anchored for weeks in the port of Ras al-Khaimah, in the United Arab Emirates.

By placing his yacht in the UAE, Melnichenko has put it beyond the reach of western governments enforcing sanctions on those deemed supportive of Russian president Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine.

Its presence is a symbolic reminder of the Gulf monarchy’s ambivalence towards western sanctions on Russia, allies of Putin and the wealthy businessmen who have often benefited from ties to the state.

While the UAE government is trying to enhance measures against money laundering to exit a global dirty-money watchdog’s watchlist, the economic foundation of cities such as Dubai has long been based on welcoming flows of assets and people.

“Given its non-enforcement of western sanctions, the dilemma for the UAE is how to sustain its place as an open destination for capital while also appearing to be a good global citizen,” said one compliance professional. “It’s a tricky balancing act.”

The government of the Isle of Man said it had in March deregistered Melnichenko’s yachts, including Motor Yacht A, because of western sanctions, saying, “we will continue to act with appropriate robustness should the situation warrant it”.

Marine locator services placed Motor Yacht A off the Maldives in March. The Financial Times then saw the yacht on April 18. On Saturday it remained moored opposite Ras al-Khaimah’s city-centre fish market.

Businessmen in the UAE say Melnichenko, who denies affiliations to the Kremlin, held meetings there in April, but the tycoon has since returned to Moscow. A representative of Melnichenko, who has been placed under sanctions by the EU and UK as well as Switzerland and Australia, referred questions on the yacht to a lawyer who declined to comment.

UAE authorities in Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah and Abu Dhabi declined to comment.

European officials say they have raised concerns with Emirati counterparts that the UAE could become a financial haven for Russians placed under western sanctions. “We don’t want our allies to become facilitators for the Putin regime,” said one.

Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko attends an event

The UAE government has said it is maintaining a neutral course through the war, calling for an end to hostilities and providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Abu Dhabi, which has developed closer ties with Moscow in recent years, has also assured its allies that sanctions-hit entities will not be able to operate in the UAE. The Gulf monarchy, which has long argued that it is not compelled to enforce other nations’ sanctions, is keen to maintain its historical role as an apolitical territory focused on business.

Thousands of wealthy, non-sanctions-hit Russians have relocated to the UAE to escape economic uncertainty and political instability at home, even though they sometimes struggle to access the financial system. “Big banks are more cautious but smaller banks are offering help to those wishing to relocate. It’s just taking a lot of time,” said a Russian businessman.

Very wealthy Russians generally find financial institutions accommodating. Most of the wealthy elite have second passports from countries that sell nationality, such as Malta or Portugal, which facilitates the opening of new accounts with lenders that are warier of Russian passport holders.

Others have turned to alternative routes, such as cryptocurrencies and hawala, or informal money exchange services. The cost of this service has risen from 1 per cent of the transaction value to 5 per cent since the war broke out as demand surges, said one person aware of the trades.

Many in the UAE see a hypocrisy in western concern over the presence of the yacht and the Russians building new lives there. “So it was OK for London to take all the oligarch money but not for Dubai?” asked one lawyer.

Grown-ish

SPOILER ALERT! This post contains details from the series finale of Freeform ‘s grown-ish .

It’s the end of an era.

Freeform’s grown-ish ended its run Wednesday night after six seasons with Junior (Marcus Scribner) celebrating his graduation in a bit of an unexpected way.

Their friends have other ideas, though. Before long, this stranger’s yacht is filled to the brim with 20-somethings and bottles of alcohol.

Junior spends much of the party pretty frantically trying to make sure his boss doesn’t find out that he’s throwing a party on their client’s boat without permission. But, unfortunately for him, there are cameras. On the bright side, his boss is somehow not at all upset about this unsanctioned party, because Junior did technically tend to the boat as he was asked.

This whole situation also puts Zoey and Aaron in an awkward situation, as they’re now stuck on this boat together. Pretty quickly, Zoey tries to apologize to Aaron, explaining that she does want to marry him, but, you know, their adult lives have barely begun.

After a bit of thinking, Zoey decides that she’d like to go through with it, if Aaron will take her back. Which, of course he will. He’s only been pining after her since the pilot.

There’s no time for any wedding planning either, because the happy couple hijack the party and decide to exchange nuptials right then and there.

The finale also welcomes back some of the original cast, including Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat, and Francia Raisa.

During a conversation about how it’s been more difficult for these friends to stay in touch than they thought post-college, Ana and Vivek reveal they’ve been trying for a baby but recently experienced a miscarriage. They vow to make more of an effort to keep tabs on each other’s lives and seek support when needed.

In addition to wrapping up six seasons of grown-ish , the episode also closes the chapter on the entire black-ish universe — at least for now.

‘Oversight After Dark’: Lawmakers Hurl Insults at Session

In an after-hours session on Capitol Hill, insults by the right-wing Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene led to a raucous exchange with Democrats, featuring insults about personal appearance, intellect and more.

Insults Disrupt House Oversight Committee Session

Representative marjorie taylor greene, a republican, insulted the appearance of representative jasmine crockett, a democrat, in a session of the house oversight committee leading the meeting to break out into shouting..

“Do you know what we’re here for? You know we’re here about AG.” “I don’t think you know what you’re here for.” “Well, you’re the one talking about —” “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up —” “Ain’t nothing —” “Hold on, hold on.” [gavel pounding] “Order.” “Mr. Chairman.” “That’s beneath even you —” “Order, order. Regain order of your committee.” “I would like to move to take down Ms. Greene’s words. That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person.” “Are your feelings hurt?” “Move her words, down.” “Aww.” “Oh, oh girl, baby girl.” “Oh, really?” “Don’t even play.” “Baby girl. I don’t think —” “We are going to move and we’re going to take your words down.” “I second that motion.” “You agree to strike your words?” “Yeah.” “O.K. — Ms. Greene agrees to strike her words.” “I believe she should apologize. No, no, no.” “Hold on. Then, after Mr. Perry’s going to be recognized, then —” “I’m not apologizing.” “Well, then you’re not striking your words.” “You reserve the right to object.” “I am not apologizing.” “Just to better understand your ruling: If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleached blonde, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” “A what now?” “Chariman, I make, I make a motion to strike those words.” “I don’t think that’s —” “I’m trying to find clarification on what —” “Chairman, motion to strike those words.” We’re not, we’re not going to do this. Look, you guys earlier, literally just —” “You just voted to do this.” “Y’all did it first.” “You just voted to do it.” “Order, order.” “I’m trying to get clarification.” “Look — calm down. Calm down.” “No, no, no, no because this is what you all do. So I’m trying to get —” “Ms. Crockett, you’re not recognized.”

Reporting from Washington

Even by the rock-bottom standards of the 118th Congress, Thursday night’s three-hour voting session of the House Oversight Committee was perhaps a new low. There was shouting and chaos. There were insults about eyelashes, hair dye and body composition. It was behavior that would get most elementary school kids suspended.

The members of the Republican-led committee gathered after 8 p.m. in a Capitol Hill hearing room ready for a fight — some members of the audience were even said to have brought alcoholic beverages to enjoy the show. They had gathered so late because so many Republicans traveled to Manhattan to show support for former President Donald J. Trump at the courthouse where he is on trial on criminal charges involving hush money payments to a porn star.

Back in Washington, lawmakers were ostensibly meeting for the most serious and somber of reasons: to debate whether to hold a cabinet official in contempt of Congress. Republicans were recommending charging Attorney General Merrick B. Garland — an action that the committee chairman, Representative James Comer of Kentucky, proudly touted in a fund-raising appeal earlier in the day — and they would eventually get to that .

But first, it was time for fight club.

Who better to instigate the chaos than Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, the right-wing Georgia Republican best known for her penchant for incendiary statements and stunts? Her first target was Representative Jasmine Crockett, the Democrat from Texas who frequently takes on Ms. Greene in the committee .

After an initial back and forth, Ms. Greene went after Ms. Crockett’s appearance, causing all hell to break lose.

“I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” Ms. Greene said, mocking her makeup.

“That’s beneath even you, Ms. Greene,” shot back Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the top Democrat on the panel.

The remark prompted Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, the committee’s No. 2 Democrat, to demand that Ms. Greene’s words be “taken down” from the record, an official rebuke that would mean Ms. Greene would be barred from speaking for the rest of the session.

“How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person?” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said. (She later said on social media that she had felt compelled to defend Ms. Crockett, who is Black, against “racism and misogyny.”)

“Are your feelings hurt?” Ms. Greene responded.

“Oh baby girl, don’t even play,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez shot back.

After much back and forth, Ms. Greene agreed to have her words stricken from the record, but refused to apologize. “I am not apologizing,” she insisted.

Mr. Comer, who has said in the past that he cannot control Ms. Greene, ultimately refused to enforce the committee’s rules on decorum. The entire scene captured the depths to which the oversight panel has sunk during this Congress, as Republicans have tried without success to build an impeachment case against President Biden , sometimes resorting to tactics that are outrageous even for a committee that has long been among the most combative on Capitol Hill. (Ms. Greene has previously used her perch on the panel to display nude photos of the president’s son engaging in sex acts .)

“The major problem was that we allowed pornography in this committee and we’ve gone down a bad road,” Mr. Raskin complained Thursday night.

Committee members did little to conceal their contempt for one another.

“Why don’t you debate me?” Ms. Greene said to Ms. Ocasio-Cortez.

“I think it’s self-evident,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez replied.

“Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence,” Ms. Greene said.

That second insult prompted more outrage, with multiple Democrats demanding Ms. Greene retract her remarks.

“That’s two requests to strike!” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said.

The fighting continued, but Ms. Crockett was not about to allow Ms. Greene’s original insult to go unanswered.

Couching her own jab in a procedural question allowed under committee rules, Ms. Crockett inquired of Mr. Comer: “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling: If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”

“A what now?” Mr. Comer said.

Frequently, there was so much shouting and cross talk it was impossible to tell who was saying what, and from which direction the insults were being flung.

“I’m just glad the chairs are too big to throw,” one lawmaker could be heard saying amid the cross talk.

Mr. Comer complained of his poor hearing ability and asked the members if they would please consider not shouting over each other.

“I think my body’s pretty good,” Ms. Greene, a CrossFit devotee who often posts videos of herself working out, said at one point.

Representative Jared Moskowitz of Florida, the Democrat on the panel who seems to most relish a partisan brawl, posted gleefully on social media. “Oversight After Dark!”

He then posted a video remixing Ms. Crockett’s insult of Ms. Greene with a hip-hop beat.

“J&J (Jared & Jazz) dropping diss tracks like we Kendrick Lamar… MTG Truly wanted the smoke tonight,” Ms. Crockett replied as she shared the video.

The insults weren’t just limited to Ms. Greene and Ms. Crockett. They flowed freely throughout the night across party lines. Representative Anna Paulina Luna, Republican of Florida, at one point called Representative Dan Goldman, Democrat of New York, a “trust fund kid.” (He is an heir to the Levi Strauss fortune .)

Ms. Greene’s boyfriend, Brian Glenn, the conservative Right Side Broadcasting Network host, defended her honor on social media.

“She’s beautiful, intelligent, and has more class than you’ll ever have,” he wrote, tagging Ms. Crockett and Ms. Ocasio-Cortez.

Only one Republican sided with the Democrats in attempting to silence Ms. Greene: Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado, herself a rabble-rouser, but one who has little respect for Ms. Greene.

“I just want to apologize to the American people,” said Ms. Boebert, who apologized in September after being captured on video vaping and carrying on with her date in a theater. “When things get as heated as they have, unfortunately, it’s an embarrassment on our body as a whole.”
