4 private golf clubs in NJ and what they get you

Forsgate Country Club's Banks 18-hole course.

Zack Mullock loves that golf is a purely individual game.

If he makes a mistake, there isn't a teammate he can turn to and blame. It's all on him.

Mullock is the director of golf at Cape May National Golf Club, a family-run business that his father Robert Mullock owns. Cape May National opened in 1991, and Mullock was born in 1985 so he's grown up playing the sport.

He later went on to play Division I golf in college, and after graduating, he turned pro with the PGA. He's no longer pro, but the game still plays an important role in his life.

"What I’ve grown to appreciate even more as I’ve aged is now I get to go out and play with my dad who’s going to be 70," Mullock said. "I also have a 3-year-old son and he’s just learning, but you can tell in a couple of years, the three of us will all get up and play together."

In honor of the warmer months and sunny days ahead, we're breaking down some of our favorite private golf clubs throughout New Jersey:

Cape May National

The 18-hole golf course is semi-private, and offers membership options for year-round residents, as well as part-time residents since Cape May is a vacation destination.

It surrounds one of the largest private bird sanctuaries in the state and is set on undeveloped land for an authentic experience. Enjoy wildlife, views of marshes and natural lakes.

“We pride ourselves on being the most natural golf courses in the state, if not the country," Mullock said. He said they tried not to cut down any trees when developing the golf course, and there are no residential houses surrounding the course, which is rare in New Jersey.

While on most courses, the holes are lined up next to one another — that's not the case at Cape May National.

" It really has a lot of different directions that it goes," Mullock said. "A lot of times you can’t see all the golf holes ahead of you, which is something that’s kind of cool. You feel like each hole is its own identity rather than the same thing one after another."

He added that since 2010, the golf course has been 100 percent solar from its golf carts to its irrigation.

PRICE:  $1,500 for full membership, $1,000 for off hours.   Visit cmngc.com, call 609-884-1563. Cape May National is at Route 9 and Florence Ave., Erma section of Cape May County.

Metedeconk National Golf Club

This private golf course in Jackson was designed by the renowned architects Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Roger Rulewich.

Brent Studer, the director of golf at Metedeconk National, said the club has a 55-acre practice facility, as well as a 27-hole championship golf course so that crowds are not an issue.

"We have a great teaching program," Studer said. "We have one of the top 40 instructors (named by Golf Digest) Justin Sheehan, and I instruct, too."

He said the golf club is family friendly if members would like to bring their son or daughter to play. Those under 24 do not get charged.

Other amenities include the clubhouse dining experience, and two eight-person cottages that members can rent overnight. The cottages come with big screen television sets, poker tables and beds.

"You can bring a group of seven guys, go out and play golf, have one of our chefs come down and throw dinner in the cottage," Studer said. "Then (in the morning), they can come to the clubhouse for breakfast and play another round of golf."

Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club

There is something for everyone at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club — even for the non-golfer.

Eagle Oaks, which was founded in 1989, is set on 350 acres in Farmingdale. It features an 18-hole golf course, and 65,000-square-foot Southern Colonial-inspired clubhouse.

Joe Callahan, the general manager, said members can enjoy a full driving range and three putting greens, where they can chip, putt and test out different strokes.

The club also features a men and ladies locker room complete with a full gym, shower area and massage room.

After a game of golf, enjoy amenities, such as three tennis courts, a kidney-shaped pool, two bocce ball courts, a ping pong table, rose garden, an infinity deck, outdoor bar and grill at the 19th hole, and cabanas available for rent. PRICE:  $12,000 to 16,000 a year.

Visit eagleoaks.com, call 732-938-9696. Eagle Oaks is at 20 Shore Oaks Drive, Farmingdale.

Forsgate Country Club

Forsgate was founded in 1929 by the Scottish immigrant John Forster.

He hired Charles “Steamshovel” Banks to build it, and the design features a European feel to it reminiscent of Forster's golfing tours overseas.

At Forsgate Country Club, enjoy two 18-hole courses, including the Banks Course complete with deep bunkers and beautiful greenery, as well as the Palmer Course, a scenic course known for its challenging water hazards.

Families also can enjoy the sports complex, fitness and aquatic center and year-round activities and events.

Sign up for the Golf Academy, which is open to all ages and abilities. Members can enjoy golf lessons by Paul Kaster, director of instruction; Carolyn McKenzie Andrews, a top 50 U.S. kids master teacher; and Frank Esposito, Champions tour player.

First refuelling for Russia’s Akademik Lomonosov floating NPP

!{Model.Description}

metedeconk river yacht club membership cost

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.
