  • richardc167 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Interesting river boat experience Worthwhile and informative. Went a short distance up river allowing an abbreviated view of port area (3rd busiest in US) and work to expand port. Good explanations of the sights without being overbearing. Seating inside and outside. Appeared that one could eat on board before excursion began. Recommended. Read more Written April 15, 2024
  • densief 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Relaxing time This is a basic trip down the river. We took the 330 cruise and were back by 545. Fun and interesting information but repetitive if you have taken other tours. We soaked up the sun on the top deck with an adult beverage and enjoyed just being on the river Read more Written April 11, 2024
  • richardc167 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Worthwhile experience Very much enjoyed the cruise. There was informative narration during much of the trip. Savannah is 3rd busiest port in the US and is expanding. Saw some port facilities and then various places along the river headed towards the Atlantic. Seating inside and outside. Glad we scheduled this cruise as part of visit to Savannah. Read more Written April 9, 2024

  • 752bethanyk 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles It was a pretty Off-Putting cruise today... narrator/ sites were fine but management and staff are questionable... The experience of a riverboat cruise is what we were looking most forward to on this trip to Savannah. The boat/ tour narrator deserves 5 stars but because of my experience I would rate it an overall 2 or 3 stars. My husband and I went on the lunch/site seeing cruise around 1pm. The buffet style food was very good but I found a long black hair in my mashed potatoes which really put me off. I didn't bring it to the staffs attention because accidents happen and we were trying to enjoy the afternoon on the boat. I decided to order a smoothy that comes in a souvenir cup and asked our waitress if I place the order with her or at the bar. She was very nice and said she would get that for me. Once she returned I asked if I pay now or at the end of the cruise for the drink. She said I can pay at the end but to come find her. My husband and I went to the upper deck to enjoy the sites and as I was drinking the smoothy I sucked up a peice of some type of flimsy metal thing, i'm not sure what it was but I am glad I didnt swallow it. I stopped drinking the smoothy because I didn't know what else was in it. As the boat was about to dock we went downstairs to pay at the bar and show the manager that there had been something in the drink just so they were aware. The woman at the bar looked at the peice of metal (which she took bare handed even though I told her it had been in my mouth and she said she didnt care), then threw my drink/souvenir cup away and offered to make me another peach smoothy. I excepted the new drink and had my card ready to pay for it when she told me not to worry about it because she wasn't going to make me pay for a drink that had something nasty in it. I said are you sure? She said yes, I told her thank you and then my husband and I went on our way to leave the boat. We made it off the boat when I hear a woman calling "ma'am! You forgot to pay for that!" I turn around to see our waitress running off the ship towards us....I told her, "I'm sorry you came all the way down here but the employee at the bar told me I didn't need to pay for the drink because there was some piece of metal in it." She said oh I had thought you just forgot to pay, but anyways my manager said you still have to pay for the original tab... I looked at her and said I have no problem doing that, that was why I came up to the bar in the first place so I could find you and pay for my drink and also let the manager know they had some metal material in my drink, I'm not trying to steal a 12 dollar smoothy." She apologized and said she was sorry for embarrassing me. I paid for the drink (which I had no problem doing). For the manager to make the waitress chase me off the ship through a crowd of people when I was told not to worry about the tab is crazy to me. If they can take an entire smoothy and souvenir cup and throw it in the trash because there was something bad in it, I think it would have been more classy just to write off the cup/ incident rather than having her chase me down. Especially when the manager was right there witnessing when the employee discarded the drink and made me a new one then didn't let me pay for it in the 1st place. In hindsight maybe the employee didnt realize I hadn't paid for any drink yet, but thats not how it came across at the time since when I approached her I literally said, "Hey, I need to pay for my drink but I also need to let you know I found this metal thing in it." Really disappointing since the cruise already makes so much money, and I had "settled" the issue before leaving the ship...just to be embarrassed in front of a bunch of strangers by being chased off this big ship. The nice waitress really should find another job, I don't see the Mangers chasing anyone off the boat over a cup. If you go on this ship maybe just skip the potential drama that comes with buying any special drink, and watch out for hairs in your food. Read more Written April 6, 2024

  • C2535GJangelab 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles UNCLEAN! The boat is filthy! The women’s restroom on the first deck was dirty. The floors on all of the decks were dirty. This riverboat needs to be shutdown for a cleaning and an interior facelift. This is not something that I would have paid for if I had seen the interior of the boat before hand. • Anneliese J 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Boring unless your interested in shipping containers This tour is only interesting if you’re curious about shipping containers and what is in the silos and storage along the river. Savannah is a beautiful city best enjoyed on land. The line for the boat cued up about an hour before departure and took that long to board as they had the compulsory photo taken before boarding. Staff was nice and courteous but there just isn’t anything interesting or scenic along this river. Save your money. Read more Written April 1, 2024
  • dkemp719 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Good Use of Time & Money It was an enjoyable cruise. Well worth the time and money. Make sure you sit on the right side of boat when you are facing the front of it. Most of the narrative is pointing out things of interest on that side of the boat. Enjoy the journey. • Roving64514507351 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great experience for any age! Truly a great experience. The ship was clean and the crew was very friendly. The commentator knew extensively about Georgia’s history and I walked away gaining knowledge about the area that I didn’t know. They sold drinks and some food. Tip be the first on the ship and go straight to the bar to get water, drinks, food, etc because the line gets very long once everyone boards. Read more Written March 26, 2024

  • 143tonyab 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Just OK It was cold and windy the day we had. It was hard to hear the information over the speakers when they were sharing the history . The lines were very long to get drinks. It was about 2 hours long and we went down to the fort and then came back. I can say I have done it so I would not do it again. I was underwhelmed. • Relax627032 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Disappointing savannah River trip This was definitely not value for money, not as advertised, the staff uniforms looked like they had not seen a washing machine or iron in years, dirty stained and crumpled. The food was very disappointing, cold watery mashed potato’s , cheese hot and sweaty, the crackers soft and stale. The staff were unhelpful, the food manger could not really care they were serving food that was inedible. Definitely would not recommend anyone taking a trip where food was included as all tables around us had food that could not be eaten due to reasons above. Read more Written March 24, 2024

Compliance status

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation.

  • Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website. These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
  • Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

The best mother-daughter trips tend to have a Goldilocks element to them: They’re not too romantic or too metropolitan; they don’t call for too many logistics—travel or otherwise—but they’re not boring; they’re not all-or-nothing: buzzy or sleepy, business or pleasure. But rather, they’re just like motherhood is: just right . The best mother-daughter jaunts blend a little bit of everything: great cities , historic museums, delicious food , and the best company.

From a cruise down the Nile to a long weekend in Savannah , Georgia, here are 15 mother-daughter trips for travelers of all interests, budgets, and ages. Some destinations are ones you may return to time and time again, while others are faraway dreams you'll be ecstatic to finally bring to life. No matter where you go, the right outing can bring your family together. As a mother, daughter, and mother of daughters, here are 15 trips I'm personally dreaming about.

15 MotherDaughter Trip Ideas From Nile Cruises to Sedona Getaways

A historic vacation in Boston

Though the city has changed throughout the years (see the bustling Seaport area ), Boston—with its deep historic roots and dozens of colleges—always elicits nostalgia. Cruise the Public Garden’s swan boats , stroll the Charles River , or visit one of the many museums (like the private art collection at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum or the kid-friendly Museum of Science ). Nearby Cambridge and Somerville offer award-winning restaurants, awesome architecture, and some of the best views of Boston.

Where to stay in Boston:

  • For young families: Four Seasons Boston
  • For pampering: Raffles Boston
  • For historic charm: Fairmont Copley Plaza

Fairmont Banff Springs

Fairmont Banff Springs

An outdoor adventure in Banff

Seeing the Rockies across the Canadian border is absolutely magical (just don't forget your passport). In Banff, where the altitude is only about half that of some of Colorado’s highest peaks, the mountains are truly stunning. Here, some of the hotels double as castles (and come with the expected luxuries), and art galleries, museums, and coffee shops dot the streets downtown. Ski slopes, hikes, and various outdoor adventures (with the views to match) are never far.

Where to stay in Banff:

  • For an in-the-mountains feel: Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
  • For proximity to town: Fairmont Banff Springs

A long weekend in Savannah

In Savannah, you can split your time walking, eating, and drinking—sometimes all at once; the city has an open container policy. Take a stroll under the southern live oaks or throughout the city’s parks ( Forsyth is the most famous), explore the historic cemeteries , or take an art tour ; the city is home to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) . Don’t miss the food at The Olde Pink House or Husk Savannah , which sits in one of the city’s most haunted buildings. For a day trip, Tybee Island is full of beaches, beautiful views, and classic, beachy spots like The Original Crab Shack .

Where to stay in Savannah:

  • For poolside luxury: Perry Lane Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Savannah
  • For golf: The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa

A trip to the spiritual oasis of Sedona

There are many reasons to venture to Sedona, just a two-hour desert drive from Phoenix, and each one is as good as the next: the spiritual sanctuaries of vortexes, the hikes (ranging from scenic to thrilling), the spas ( Mii Amo , with services like chakra balancing), the food ( Elote Cafe ), the nearby Grand Canyon, or the panoramas of Arizona’s red rocks. A perfect trip for mothers and adult daughters—activities and relaxation exist in spades; choose your own adventure.

“The cape and the islands,” as the locals say, are as quintessential New England as it gets. About 90 minutes from Boston sans traffic, Chatham, at the tip of Cape Cod’s elbow, is worth the trip (and great for kids and adults of all ages)—expect wild oceanside views, a jaw-dropping seaside downtown (don’t miss the local seafood at the Impudent Oyster ), and lush resorts. Maine entices travelers of all kinds—foodies, families, solo travelers, and skiers. But with its jagged coastline, horizon dotted with fishing boats, and New England feel, the state’s southern coast is a no-brainer for a long weekend for older mother-daughter duos. Relaxation and luxury are never far away; Cliff House Maine boasts a cliffside spa with crashing waves below, and White Barn Inn, Auberge Resorts Collection , is a quiet and beautiful spot with a Forbes Five-Star restaurant.

Shutters on the Beach

A Southern California road trip

There’s something so dreamy about driving California’s 101 along the Pacific from Los Angeles, through Santa Barbara, up to Cambria. Brunch at Elephante with views of Santa Monica Beach, after, stroll the Venice Beach Canals and get homemade ice cream at Salt and Straw . Two hours north in seaside Santa Barbara, walk the botanic gardens, wine taste in the Santa Ynez Valley (if your kids are old enough), and visit one of the many spas worth writing home about . The drive up to Cambria and White Water , where a basket of treats is delivered to your door every morning, is well worth it.

A European jaunt through Portugal

Lisbon , with its narrow, hilly cobblestone streets and seaside allure, is definitely worth a visit for those of all ages (getting a coffee has rarely looked so picturesque). Take a tram ride to explore the city on your own, or take a day trip to Sintra , where gardens surround fairy-tale-like castles. Due south in the Algarve, Praia da Marinha might be the most beautiful beach you’ve ever seen; boats for hire can take you out through the caves and grottoes.
