The Harbour WI are based at Sovereign Harbour, a large, modern, housing and marina development over-looking the sea on the outskirts of Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Formed in 2007, The Harbour WI now has a membership of over 100, which is the maximum for the premises where it is held. There is, however, a waiting list for anybody who wishes to join in the future.

We warmly welcome new members – just come along and try us for two visits before deciding to join.  Or contact us for more information.

We meet in the Sovereign Suite at Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club on the 2nd Monday of the month at 2.00 p.m.

We also have a Craft Club which meets every 3rd Monday of the month in various places.

About the WI

The WI is the largest women's movement in the World. It has a proud history of social campaigning and of promoting life-long education for women.

You don't have to be arty-crafty or a domestic goddess. The WI is about new opportunities.

For just over £4.00 a month you can enter a whole new circle of friends, listen to speakers on a variety of topics, enjoy a monthly County Newsletter, receive copies of the National magazine, gain access to a wide range of WI events and have FUN.

A Warm Welcome to all at Sovereign Harbour

Harbour Friends is a friendly social group, which is predominantly for residents of Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne.

The aim of the group is to promote and foster friendship amongst harbour residents and to organise social events and trips for the enjoyment of its members.

We meet every Wednesday evening between 7.30pm and 10.30pm in the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club.

Since our formation in 2005 we’ve enjoyed a bewildering array of events, including trips within the UK and overseas, plus Quizzes, Bingo, Beetle Drives, TV Game Show Nights, BBQs, Dinner Dances, Group Meals, Greyhound and Horse Racing, Treasure Hunts, Croquet, Camping, Canoeing, Bowls, Pub Skittles, Tenpin Bowling, Stately Home Visits, Theatre Visits and many more, not forgetting our annual Christmas party.

Why not Join Us? We are very aware that making friends can be extremely difficult when you retire, divorce or move to a new area. Our newly built conference rooms, all have air-conditioning, luxurious fixtures and fittings, and a wide range of presentation equipment available to delegates.

Away from the conference forum, you can enjoy the sites and atmosphere of one of the most beautiful harbours in the UK. The extensive balconies at first and second floor level provide a sunny platform for viewing over the North Harbour. The second floor function room accommodates a variety of uses from small private functions to a full 100 seat catering facility served from a professional standard galley.

Free Parking

Free Parking at The Waterfront

Free parking is available at The Waterfront in two car parks. The first can be accessed from Pevensey Bay Road, heading towards Harbour Quay, just before reaching Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club.

The second is available from Atlantic drive heading towards Harbour Quay, and is situated on the left-hand side before reaching the Boatyard and Self store facilities at Sovereign Harbour Marina.

• Membership Fees

Enrollment: You and your household members can become members of HYC for a one-time enrollment fee of $399 . Membership is on a month-to-month basis, and there is no annual committment. Membership includes the US SAILING Basic Keelboat group class for one person.

Membership Program Choices : To ensure that you will get the most out of your club membership, we currently offer 2 membership program options that you may choose from designed to suit your sailing preferences:

OPTION 1: Monthly Minimum Program

This membership program is designed for the sailor who plans on sailing every month. With this program, we collect $45 on the first of the month , all of which may be applied towards the cost of a boat rentals in San Diego during that month. The $45 does not roll over to the next month.

OPTION 2: Sailing Bank Accrual Program

This membership program is designed for sailors who may not be able to rent a boat every month. With this program, we collect $45 each month – $20 in dues and $25 of which may be applied towards rentals in San Diego. If you don’t use that $25 credit towards a sail with us that month, that money will roll over to the next month, accumulating in your sailing bank until you use it. We limit the sailing bank accumulation to a maximum of $300, which is a year’s worth of credits. So, as long as you go sailing at least once a year, you’ll never miss out on any of your monthly sailing bank contributions.

Change Your Mind? If you are enrolled in the club with either Option 1 or 2 and later decide to change programs, you may do so one time by notifying the club in writing.
