Location, location, location! This place has beautiful views, and is situated next to Soldier Field, and the beautiful lakefront. I attended a Christmas party here last night, and they seemed to do a great job decorating the place. The food was excellent...If you're looking to have a private party with good food in a beautiful setting, this is the place to do it. The menu consisted of ribs that fell off the bone, chicken Parmesan that was juicy, tasty potato wedges, bread, and salad. For dessert, there was chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies. I definitely recommend this place. Also, for the lovely days that are not below zero (like last night when we were there), they have an outdoor dining area. There is a parking lot, but when it is freezing outside, it's slightly inconvenient. I'm used to being dropped off at the door when it's cold, and you can't do that here.

I love the location, the people and staff were awesome! The view is priceless. The facility needs a bit of an update. The food menu needs an update as well. I had the Brick Chicken, I assumed it would be deboned and cooked to a crisp, I was incorrect., the mashed potatoes were excellent. I was expecting a really hip and cool summer menu reflective of the location, city and private nature of the venue. I will be back for all the good reasons.

This is one of the most picturesque spots in the downtown area that combines the scenery of the harbor with the backdrop of the city on one side and Soldier Field on the other. For those fortunate enough to have one of their boats here, I lift my martini glass to you! Cheers.

The views from this place are amazing. Harbor views, Chicago skyline views all from your table as you sit on the patio. The food & service are great also. I had the salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great friendly service too!

I dropped in here last weekend for the verve cup while we were waiting for our race to start. The bloody mary was definitely a good drink and worth every penny my skipper spent on it!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! BHYC has screwed up my wedding plans and left us with no facility to host our wedding. They didn't even tell us just never returned our calls. After waiting 2 months for a response from them, we had to change locations. We even had to print new inviations. Word of advice - this place is NOT WORTH the visit.

The Burnham Park Yacht Club represents more than a building, docks and grounds to serve its members, it is a connection between men and women who have worked during the last seventy six years to honor the original Club goals identified in the September 14, 1938 papers of its incorporation. These original goals have been honored and have been broadened as expansion and changes came to the Club facilities and to Burnham Harbor. The Burnham Park Yacht Club is situated in museum campus area of Chicago’s lakefront and is located on Northerly Island which forms the Eastern shore of Burnham Harbor, the most sheltered harbor in Chicago. The clubhouse provides views facing the harbor offering magnificent views of the harbor activity as well as a panoramic vista of Chicago’s skyline, said to be the most exquisite view of Chicago.

The Burnham Park Yacht Club is situated in the newly configured Museum Campus Area of Chicago’s Lakefront.   We are located on Northerly Island which forms the Eastern Shore of Burnham Harbor which is the most sheltered harbor in Chicago.

Our clubhouse provides views facing the harbor offering magnificent views of the harbor activity as well as a panoramic scope of Chicago’s skyline.   It is said to be the most exquisite view of Chicago.  

Job Description Hourly Position Private Club Position Title:  Server

SUMMARY:   Greets members, provides knowledgeable description of daily specials and menu options.   Takes food and drink orders to guests in bar and dining area.

Responsibilities:

• Serve multiple tables of guest meals of breakfast, lunch, dinner, or banquet setting
• Relays orders to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen to dining area
• Observes diners to quickly respond to any additional requests
• Record guest orders and enter them into Point Of Sale system
• Refill drinks and deliver food when necessary via tray service
• Work within a team environment
• Other functions assigned by management may be to re-stock, check restrooms, empty bus tubs, refill ice, assist members with bagged ice service, overall assist other team members when required.
• Polish chafing dishes, silverware, glasses, and plates.
• Ensure proper set up of all work stations
• Arrange, set-up and breakdown buffet stations
• Will attend daily line up meetings
• Assist in performing daily side work
• Server Experience is mandatory
• Must be 18 years of age.

Performance Standards:

• Meets all company service standards
• Maintains upbeat, guest-first, positive attitude

Working Conditions:

• 100% walk and stand
• Must be able to carry tray up to 40 pounds
• Be able to reach, bend, lift up to 30 pounds

Training Requirements:

SUMMARY:   To mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to members.  Standard recipes will be provided.

• Check members identification and serve drinks adhering to state regulations
• Prepare mixed drinks, draft, bottled beer, custom drinks, and wine
• Be able to serve our full menu at the bar
• Reconcile daily bar inventories
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized bar area.  Lift bus tubs and clean glassware.
• Expect occasional 2am close
• Server/Bar Experience is mandatory
• Must be 21 years of age

Crews hope the weather is favorable for record-breaking year of fast finishes for boats competing in this weekend’s 115th Chicago Yacht Club Race To Mackinac. People come from all over the world to compete, departing a few miles out from Chicago’s Navy Pier. The finish line is between the lighthouse on Round Island and the race committee trailer on Mackinac Island, both in Michigan.

Chicago Yacht Club's Race to Mackinac continues Saturday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Hundreds of boats are sailing from Chicago towards Mackinac Island on Saturday.

The cruising division took off Friday and the racing division began Saturday.

The Race to Mackinac is the world's longest freshwater race. The length of the race is 333 miles from Navy Pier to the Round Island Channel, just off of Mackinac Island, Michigan.

There are more than 250 boats and 2,100 racers from around the world participating.

The first Race to Mackinac took place in 1898.

CHICAGO, July 14, 2024 – During last night’s storms, three of the larger boats in the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac’s Racing Division reported dismasting:  Sagamore, Farr STP 65 owned by Tone and Laura Martin; Usual Suspects, a TP 52 owned Eric Wynsma; and Sapphire, an Arcona 435 owned by Robert Radway. No injuries were reported on board and all three are safely in port or motoring to port.

Additionally, there was a man overboard reported on Callisto, a J/125, owned and skippered by Jim Murray. Madcap, a Santa Cruz 52 skippered by John Hopkins, recovered the sailor. Both boats have resumed racing. 

The majority of the  Cruising Division was north of the storms and were not impacted as severely as the Racing Divisions.

Following the storm, 15-20 knot southerly winds continued to propel the 247-boat fleet north and at the current pace, there is a strong potential for the 22-year-old race record to be broken.

As of 8:30 a.m. ET, there is a pack of six boats racing toward the Straits of Mackinac [See tracker HERE]; any of which could earn the new Race to Mackinac race record.  The current record, set in 2002, is 23 hours, 30 minutes, 34 seconds, held by Roy Disney’s Pyewacket, a Reichel Pugh 75.

Five of the six boats in the hunt for the record are TP 52s – a 52-foot carbon fiber high-performance boat: Katana, owned by John Huhn; Natalie J, owned by Phil O’Neil; Wizard, owned by Peter Askew; Mockingbird, owned by Chris Duhon; and Robert Hughes’ Heartbreaker. Maverick, an Andrews 80 owned by Sandy Burris rounds out the leaders.
