Sedna Yachts begins production on 30.4m superyacht

Brazilian yard Sedna Yachts has begun production on the Marino Alfani Design-penned project One Hundred Feet.

The 30.4 metre yacht, which is set to be presented in summer 2020, features different layouts for the European and Brazilian markets.

The first unit, which was sold two years ago, is specifically intended for recreation and consequently features large outdoor spaces for socialising.

The first hull of the yacht features the “Brazilian layout”, which focuses on hospitality and sharing. Consequently, the living area, galley and cockpit are all connected while the bow area of the main deck features the full beam owner’s cabin. The rest of the guest accommodation meanwhile, which spans three double staterooms and three cabins with twin beds, sits on the lower deck.

The “European layout” meanwhile is styled around more traditional separation of areas such as the dining, living and cooking spaces.

The interior décor has been styled with materials such as wood, glossy lacquered surfaces with leather and steel accents, though the yacht can also be decorated according to the owner’s individual tastes.

With production underway on the first hull, Alfani revealed sale negotiations are continuing for the second and third.

Brazilian shipyard Sedna Yachts has today announced that it has officially begun the production of its new ‘One Hundred Feet’ project, which has been designed by Italian based studio, Marino Alfani Design. This is the first time that the Sao Paulo based shipyard has built a yacht above the 30m threshold and so a new entry to the Brazilian superyacht orderbook.

Having first been sketched in 2017, the new 30.4m superyacht has been created as a sporty boat featuring lines created by Marino Alfani Design. Since the project was first designed however, it has undergone a number of changes over the months to better encapsulate the owner’s requirements, which was to have a “liveable yacht, on which recreation, pure and simple is more important than sportiness.” As a result, this partially re-designed yacht has now been presented to the market ready for 2020.

“All my designs, despite their diversity, share a few standout features,” says Marino Alfani, owner of the eponymous design studio set up in 2007.

“I’d like my designs to be appreciated by ‘quality’ owners who are familiar with the sea and know how to recognise the value of a boat without stopping at appearances, because what counts is often hidden away," he continues. "All this can’t be seen as an obsolete concept, but as something that affects the purity of the idea of a boat and its forms, content and quality.”

The new project has been created with two alternative layouts, one aimed for Brazilian owners and the other for the European market. The first unit, which has been sold and designed for Brazilian owners features open planned spaces between the living areas, the galley and the bridge. This is said to give the boat a more ‘recreational feel’. The second layout, aimed for the European market, features a more traditional arrangement with a more separated solution between the spaces on board.

According to The Superyacht Agency , there has been a cumulative LOA delivered of 1258.7m in Brazil. Here there are currently five yachts under construction with an average LOA of 35.4m.

Having now sold one unit, there are currently ongoing negotiations for the second and third unit of the Sedna ‘One Hundred Feet’ project.

"This is the first time that we build a yacht above the 30m threshold and so a new entry to the Brazilian superyacht order-book," said the Sao Paulo based shipyard. The 100ft custom yacht with streamlined contours has been created with two different layouts, meeting the needs of both European and Brazilian owners alike. “All my designs, despite their diversity, share a few standout features,” said the young Bergamo-based designer Marino Alfani, owner of the firm set up in 2007 that bears his name. And that’s certainly the case of the One Hundred Feet, which will be presented in summer 2020, the release added. The first sketch for this project dates back to 2017. Created as a sporty boat, it underwent various changes over the months, inspired by a different concept of what it means to go to sea, and now the shipyard has announced the start of production, said the release. The Brazilian shipyard Sedna Yachts has officially begun the production work on the new “One Hundred Feet”, a project signed by Marino Alfani Design.

This custom yacht with streamlined contours has been created from the outset with two different layouts, so that it meets the needs of both European owners on one hand and Brazilian customers on the other. 100 feet in length for maximum comfort and conviviality.

“All my designs, despite their diversity, share a few standout features,” commented the young Bergamo-based designer  Marino Alfani , owner of the firm set up in 2007 that bears his name. And that’s certainly the case of the  One Hundred Feet created for the San Paolo-based Sedna shipyard , which will be presented in  summer 2020 . Like many of Alfani’s other projects, it has the designer’s signature exterior lines:  clean, well-defined and streamlined .

The first sketch for this project dates back to 2017. Created as a sporty boat, it underwent various changes over the months, inspired by a different concept of what it means to go to sea, and  now the shipyard has announced the start of production . The owner of the first unit, sold two years ago, wanted a more livable yacht on which  recreation, pure and simple , is more important than sportiness. For this reason, the yacht has been partially redesigned, with the addition of a deck and the creation of big, welcoming outdoor spaces for socialising.

Brazil  is a very important market for the international yachting industry, so much so that many important shipards have opened production sites in the country. Marino Alfani has been working with various local companies for many years, but this One Hundred Feet is ready to win over owners with European tastes too, and that’s why  two different layouts  are offered.

The first unit, with the layout designed for Brazilian owners, stands out for the continuity between the living area, the kitchen and the cockpit, giving it a more recreational feel.  Hospitality and sharing  are apparently the keywords for the day area. The bow section of the Main Deck is occupied by the spacious, light-filled,  full-beam owner’s cabin , while the guest night area on the Lower Deck consists of three big double staterooms and three cabins with twin beds.

The second version of the layout, created for the European market, has a more traditional organisation of the day area, with better separation between dining, living and cooking spaces.

The decor of this first unit stands out for its  great originality : the spacious, welcoming and refined settings abound in wood, juxtaposed in perfect harmony with glossy lacquered surfaces and leather and steel accents, all fine materials that are hallmarks of Marino Alfani’s designs .

The next units (the sales of the second and third units are currently being negotiated) can be decorated according to the owner’s wishes, from more contemporary and innovative styles to those more suited to classical tastes.

This One Hundred Feet is only one of the many projects Alfani has underway. In both his work and his life, Alfani  prefers quality over quantity : “I’d like my designs to be appreciated by “quality” owners who are familiar with the sea and know how to recognise the value of a boat without stopping at appearances, because what counts is often hidden away.
