WHEN TO CHARTER IN ROVINJ

There are ruins of the ancient city walls from the Middle Ages, and Srednja ulica, the central street, is lined with well-preserved buildings from the 15th century. The road leads up to the Loggiatornet, a 26,etre high bell tower that offers a beautiful view of the city and the sea.

A short sail in a northerly direction will take you to the island of Krk. The island is the largest in Croatia and also has 17,000 inhabitants. It's a diverse island, and you're sure to find something to suit all tastes, as there's everything from beautiful scenery to rich culture and lively clubs and bars.  Krk Town is the main town on the island and is more than 2000 years old, and the town's history is very well preserved as the town walls around the city still stand. Other historical sights not to be missed are St Mary's Cathedral and Frankopan Castle.

Rovinj - "Blue Pearl of the Adriatic", is one of the most vivid Mediterranean towns with its narrow streets and old buildings built in the Venetian style.

Rovinj has emerged between the 3 rd . and the 5th century on an island connected to the mainland by a narrow stone bridge. Only in the 18 th century, to allow expansion of the city, the stone bridge was destroyed and Rovinj as we know it today was created.

Rovinj's most famous monument is the church St. Euphemia, the patron of the city, whose tower provides a breathtaking view of the entire city. The most famous open-air exhibition in Croatia and the most recognizable cultural event of Rovinj is Grisia. Academics, artists, amateurs and children in the homonymous street, expose their artwork for a number of audiences every Sunday in August. It's hard to pass a summer evening in which you can not attend a concert of traditional music, pop, jazz or classical music.

The biggest annual fiesta is "Rovinj Night", which lasts 3 days and ends with spectacular fireworks. In the immediate vicinity of Rovinj, about 2 km from the city centre, on the location MONFIORENZO,  is a quarry Fantasy, geological park of immense importance and beauty, and in the opinion of many scientists one of the most important monuments of nature in the world when it comes to the Karst phenomenon.

Yacht Charter Rovinj

Rovinj is a large and busy tourist town on the Istrian peninsula, in northern Adriatic.  This picturesque, arty town with its colourful houses and striking architecture is located on the west coast of Istria and is an active fishing port. Well known for its history, beauty and charm, Rovinj is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia.  St. Euphemia dominates the town overlooking the attractive old quarter, numerous street galleries and crooked cobbled streets, just made for wandering. Every summer the largest open-air art exhibition of the Adriatic coast takes place in this enchanting place.

There is a large harbour and the ACI Rovinj Marina, offering a number of charter boats all year around. There are also many hotels, holiday villages and several campsites.

The Rovinj archipelago, with its 14 islets, makes for very pleasant sailing. Sveta Katarina and Crveni Otok are the most popular in this line of stunning islands waiting to be explored by sail or motorboat .

Connections

Rovinj is well connected with the rest of Istria and with larger cities in the region such as Trieste, Rijeka, Ljubljana and Zagreb. There are bus and train lines to Pula , Rijeka and Zagreb. The nearest international airports are Pula 37 km away, Rijeka 124 km away, Trieste IT 100 km away, Zagreb 250 km away, Venice 260 km away and Ljubljana 190 km away.

During the summer, there is ferry line to Venice. Other ferry lines are available from Pula which is close by.

Sailing condition

The calm waters of the Northern Adriatic and the mild climate make for good sailing conditions. The myriad of islands provide protection and this section of the coast has many well-equipped marinas. In summer there is very little chance of the Bora: the strong, cold Northeasterly wind from the mountains. The daily Maestral wind is friendly to sailors. It usually starts blowing around 9 or 10 in the morning, reaches its strongest in the afternoon and fades at sundown. Maestral is generally weaker in the north Adriatic than in its south. This region is an appealing area to explore both on and off a boat.

Rovinj is one of the most developed seaside resorts in  Croatia , offering a whole range of visitor opportunities in a picturesque ambiance of the ancient town, surrounded by luxuriant pine forests. Rovinj ACI Marina has 420 berths in the sea and 100 places on the land; vessel length 4-13 m. ACI marina lies southeast of  Rovinj harbor , in the vicinity of a small shipyard. It is surrounded by pine woods, only 1 km from the town center. St. Katarina Island, with its coast, provides shelter from all winds. Open All year round.

ACI marina Rovinj  is nominated for the "European Blue Flag" in the year 2000, an environmental award, given to communities that make a special effort to keep their beaches and marinas clean and manage them with consideration for the local environment.

From the sea one can recognize Rovinj by the bell tower of the church of St. Euphemia standing on the hill in the middle of the peninsula, as well as the St. Katarina Island beneath the very town. Cape St. Euphemia is a marked with a light (Fl 4s 19m 7M) which can be used as a waypoint (N 45°05,0' E 13°38,0').

ACI marina Rovinj can be approached between St. Katarina Island and the town harbor breakwater. The head of the breakwater is lighted (Fl R 3s 7m 3M). Between the light and St. Katarina Island there is a shoal marked by a yellow-black conical buoy that has to be rounded from the north. If we approach the marina from the south, we should hold to the marina breakwater which on its end is marked by a green light (Fl G 5s 7m 5M).
