ou area unit currently a guest of the Royal Negara Brunei Darussalam Yacht Club’s information processing system.Back within the Nineteen Fifties a visiting British high-up known as RBYC “the friendliest club within the so much East”.
The friendly label still applies, tho’ the club has expanded from some of members to today’s 600 and affected from a tatty watercraft moored off Bandar Seri Begawan, to this city and beach sites.RBYC has perpetually compete a polar role in expatriate social life in Borneo and isn’t any exception toda The Royal Brunei Yacht Club started life in a disused fishing boat, moored at the Subok wharf just outside “Brunei Town” and across from Kampong Ayer. The cabin of “Tenggiri” made a cramped bar, which could squeeze in just four or five at a time. The clubs first Regatta was the annual Borneo Interport in 1954; its first victory against contenders Miri-Belait Boat Club, and Yacht Clubs from Jesselton (now Kota Kinabalu) and Sandakan did not come until in 1962.

Royal Brunei Yacht Club
Your club, your team
The Royal Brunei Yacht Club is managed by a committee of volunteers, who are elected at the Annual General Meeting each January. Those responsible for the day-to-day management, the smooth running of the club, the hosting, the execution and delivery of all events, the administration work and everything else that goes on behind the scenes, are the friendly faces that you see around both venues; made up of the following:
General Manager
Thomas recently joined the club and brings a lot of experience.
Please welcome him to our wonderful club!
Club Steward
Mark has been with the club for 4 years. You might see him representing the club beyond office hours. Please say hi when you see him next!
Originally from the Philippines, Chris is proud to be part of the RBYC. He particularly enjoys welcoming guests and organising events.
Main Office
Responsible for answering your calls, replying to emails, helping you book your restaurant reservation, party or tickets for an event; Faiz & Hajah are the faces behind this wonderful part of your club.
The Catering Team
An integral part of both venues are the clubhouses restaurants! This wonderful team work tirelessly to provide quality food, cool drinks and offer service - always with a smile!
Serasa Team: Victor, Joper, Regie, Alvin, Romnick, Ling, Mark, Marcelo and Sotero.
Serasa Catering Manager
Regie has managed the catering and run the restaurant at Serasa clubhouse for 26 years. You will usually see her busy preparing for your next event, helping members with their orders or preparing and cooking in the kitchen. Regie recommends the prawn, mango and avocado salad followed by the Carpetbag steak!
Kota Batu - Sail & Grill Team: Justin, Marish, Jocelyn, Ceto, Nhel, Renz
The Boatyard Team
Harold, Jawie, Nasiruddin, Climaco and Shamsul are just some of the faces you will see maintaining your boatyard, launching you into the ocean or cleaning your boat down after a long day on the water. The team is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of both venues as well as always offering us a smile and a friendly face around the club!
Let's say thank you!
A way to say thank you to your staff
The way we pay for things makes it difficult to 'tip' our staff. Here's what we do instead. Our wonderful staff come from many different countries, cultures and traditions. They are your club's greatest asset. Each year we thank them for their service by giving them a gratuity. In the month of July members have $10 added to their account. This $10 is pooled and shared out equally among all club staff as a gratuity. It is our way of saying thank you. This contribution is voluntary and automatic. If you decide you don't want to contribute, please contact the office and they will adjust your account accordingly.
