Once you confirm your reservation, your broker will process your payment.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

New to charter?

The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is due at the time of the final charter payment. Under MYBA terms, this sum is usually equivalent to 30 per cent of the total charter fee, but may be up to 40 per cent in some cases.

Intended to cover the operating expenses of a charter as explained under Charter Terms, such as fuel, food, drinks, port fees and ad hoc incidentals, the APA will be given to the captain before the start of your charter. The Captain will ensure that the yacht is fully fuelled and provisioned when you step on board. While an up-to-date summary of accounts can be requested at any time during your charter, a full set of accounts will normally be submitted by your captain at the end of the cruise. If, during the charter, the expenditure exceeds the sum already paid, additional cash funds will be required at once.

All outstanding bills from the yacht charter should be settled in cash or by bank transfer before your final disembarkation. Of course, any remaining credit at the end of your charter will be reimbursed to you in full. On request, transfer arrangements to and from the yacht can be made by Burgess or by the yacht’s captain, payment for which will be deducted from your APA.

Omar and his crew were fantastic. We used this experience to celebrate a birthday, and Omar went above and beyond. He arranged transportation separately to and from the port. There was ample food that was made on board, which was delicious. Omar and the crew were welcoming and engaging; they answered our questions. This was indeed an experience we will never forget.

Omar is an absolutely amazing host. He and is crew are extremely hospitable, friendly and accommodating. He will fill you till the brim with whatever food you like. He has all the equipment for snorkeling, fishing, lazing the water. He knows the right spots for snorkeling and to watch the sunset. Thank you Omar for making this such amazing trip and experience.

Beautiful yacht equipped with everything we needed for a day of cruising in Krabi. We cruised out to a small secluded island and spent the afternoon swimming and enjoying the amenities for water activities offered by the boat. Our lunch buffet gave everyone plenty of options and super tasty. The boat Managment accommodated us in acquiring cake and additional beverages in advance of the trip which was amazing. All 33 of us could not say enough about the staff, super accommodating, friendly, professional with huge smiles the entire journey. Highly recommend this boat!

Step 3. Finalize the Booking

Once the yacht has been chosen and availability has been secured, we will send you the Charter Booking Form which you will need to complete, sign, and return to us. The form outlines full details of your charter: travel arrangements, guest list, food and drink preferences, itinerary, and so on. It is our guide to organizing your perfect charter.

Step 4. Start Planning

Now, when you have booked your dream yacht with Boat in the Bay it is time to start planning the cruise. Based on what you told us in the Charter Booking Form as well as on our vast knowledge of the cruising destinations, we will produce unique itinerary suggestions for you and your guests.

Your personal Charter Manager and the captain of your yacht will start all the necessary preparations taking into account every detail up to your requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum length of a charter.

Your sea voyage can be as long as you want: from several hours up to several weeks. Contact us to get a custom quotation of your cruise. If you are considering to rent a yacht for 7 days or longer you can ask for a discount.

What are the payment terms for a charter?

A deposit in the amount of 50% of the charter rate is payable upon booking the yacht. The final balance plus an Advance Provisioning Allowance (if applicable) are payable 14-40 days before the charter starts. Payments can be made via bank transfer (bank fees are not included in the charter rate), by credit card (+3% commission), or PayPal (+4,4% commission).

Do I have to pay VAT on my charter fee?

Yes. The cost of most yacht charters includes local 7% VAT.

What is included and not included in the charter rate?

If you rent a yacht for 1-2 days then the charter rate would normally include the expenses like return transportation to the pier, fuel, food, and drinks.

The pricing of longer charters is normally based on APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance). It means that the charter rate includes the yacht with all equipment, the crew, and the yacht insurance for marine risk. All the expenses like food, drinks, fuel, port dues, customs clearance, water and electricity, personal laundry, and return transfer to the yacht location comprise the APA and are payable by the charterer in the amount of 10-30% of the charter fee 1 month before the sea voyage starts.

These funds are then given to the captain in order to fuel and provision the boat by the moment you step on board.

How can I top up APA? What happens to any unused APA?

The captain of your yacht controls all the expenses within your APA. You can request the up-to-date report of the spending at any time, with the final report provided after the charter.

If during the trip the expenses exceed the prepaid amount additional cash funds will be requested immediately. All the outstanding bills should be settled before the end of the charter.

Any APA left unused will be reimbursed to you in full after the charter. 

Do I have to tip the captain and crew?

The gratitude to the crew members normally comprises to 5-10% of the charter cost. This figure can be scaled up or down depending on your satisfaction level. The best way to distribute the reward equally between all members of the crew is to give it to the captain.

Can a yacht be relocated to any port for embarkation?

Yes, you can embark and disembark the yacht in a place other than her home port. In this case, the relocation fees may apply. Your Charter Manager will discuss it with you upon booking.

Can I specify the food and wine to be served on board?

Prior to your charter, we will ask you to complete our Charter Booking Form noting your culinary and religious preferences, any medical requirements and allergies, required water toys and activities. It will allow us to organize your voyage in the best possible way.

Am I covered by insurance?

All boats carry full comprehensive insurance, along with a general accident policy required by the local legislation. We do recommend that all guests carry their own personal health insurance to cover additional accident, hospital and repatriation costs, as well as a cancellation and curtailment insurance to cover them in the unlikely possibility that the charter is either cancelled or curtailed.

Officials in Thailand say New Zealanders accused of a roadside brawl with police have visas revoked

Thailand’s immigration authorities have revoked the visas of two New Zealand tourists accused of assaulting a traffic police officer on a popular resort island in an incident widely shared online, police said Monday.

Brothers Hamish Day and Oscar Mattson Day were charged with offenses including robbery, causing physical harm to an on-duty officer, attempted bribery and driving a motorcycle without a license, Phuket provincial police chief Sinlert Sukhum told a news conference. The chief said police would request the court to deny their release on bail.

Police said officer Somsak Noo-iat on Saturday spotted the men speeding on their motorbikes and tried to stop them. They allegedly tried to speed away then tried to offer a bribe to Somsak, who refused to take it. He tried to film the two men on his phone, and they allegedly tackled him and wrestled the gun away from him, causing a bullet to be fired. No one was injured by the bullet, police said.

In the video, bystanders could be heard shouting at them to stop. The footage went viral online and was broadcast by Thai news outlets.

The police chief alleged that the man who attacked the officer is a mixed martial arts fighter.

The chief said the brothers denied all charges and declined to give any statement.

The brothers could not immediately be reached. The video did not show what happened before the tussle.

The Chalong police chief Ekkarat Plaiduang, Somsak’s supervisor, said the officer was injured but recovering well.

Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat said such attacks were unacceptable and that officials will tighten scrutiny of tourists who may “behave inappropriately or break the laws.”
