We were looking for a healthy meal over Christmas, and not the typical turkey, ham and pot roast with vegetables swimming in butter and cheese.We made 6:30pm reservations and found a large corner table with soft cushions waiting for us.It was quiet even though the... restaurant quickly filled up.Immediately we ordered two glasses of white Turnbull wine ( $29) and a flatbread appetizer with three types of mushrooms ($16.50) . Both were delicious.My husband ordered the Sea Scallops over a bed of lentils, butternut squash with a ginger sauce ($34). The scallops were cooked to perfection.I had the Sea Bass over a Polenta Cake with a few baby Brussels Sprouts in an outstanding Barola Sauce.($36). We ordered a side of sushi rice.To top off this wonderful meal, we shared an Apple Bread Pudding ($11). Our bill was $140.61 plus tip. We will definitely return to this unique restaurant.The service was excellent! We haven't been in a few years and live nearby. I made a dinner reservation for our anniversary. We walked across the street and arrived a bit early. Jessica greeted us with a smile and invited us to grab a drink and sit in the... Moray Lounge while the dinner service was set up. It so happened to be national margarita day, and I saw a blurb on the Catamaran's social media about a $10 Blood Orange Margarita. Seated at the bar Christian masterfully whipped up this colorful concoction for me and a Malibu and pineapple for my better half. When our table was ready, we were led out to the outside area and seated in a comfortable booth. There were heat lamps above if one wanted to ward off the incoming evening chill. We left ours off and got plenty of warmth from the others turned on around us. Lovely views of the lights reflecting on the bay allowed us to relax and enjoy this time together. Bradley was our server and was quite knowledgable about the menu, offering up suggestions, and seemed happy to be working there and providing great service to his guests. I ordered the Hamachi Crudo and followed that up with the California White Seabass. My wife put in for the Fennel Sausage Flatbread and Harris Ranch Ribeye. They were all expertly prepared, delicious, and satisfying. She was a little too full for dessert, so I aimed my spoon at a very tasty Creme Brulee. Many thanks to the kitchen staff, it was all wonderful. The only drawback for us and a minor one at that was the bread service. We were allowed to choose between three options (sourdough, ciabatta, and a lemon thyme muffin?). Neither the bread nor butter were warmed, so it was a bit hard to spread the butter. We would suggest warming one or the other. We chose the sourdough. We enjoyed a delightful meal in a beautiful environment with excellent service. More

Came to Catamaran Resort on a business trip and got in early. To make it quick and easy, my coworker and I decided to eat here prior to our first meeting. The setting of the restaurant is very nice and overlooks the water of Sail... Bay. Nicely groomed beach and clean blue water. The breakfast menu was limited, and a little pricey for what you can order, however the quality of the food was undoubtable. Two fresh eggs with a ham steak and nicely roasted red potatoes with sourdough toast. I was very happy with the quality even though with coffee, my bill was over $20.00. Service was good and relatively quick. Again? It was good overall but I doubt I would be running to eat here again. More

Great Ambience. Offers both oudoor seating and a cozy dining area indoors. The jellyfish aquarium was the kid's favorite! We loved the food. Appetizers were just thebright portion sizes and flavorful. We ordered the sushi platter for thebfamily to share and loved it. After dinner... the kids went up to the Sushi chefs and had a nice talk about what they were cooking and how. Staff was friendly and prompt. Wine selection was great too. This restaurant inside the Catamaran Resort offers a very special setting alongside Mission Bay. Beautiful view and wonderful atmosphere. We sat outside with ample outdoor heaters for warmth, decorative lighting, and a guitarist playing acoustic music that was easy to relax to. There’s a decent... wine list. The prices for food and wine were as expected for a resort restaurant in San Diego. The starter garden salad (mine) and Caesar salad (his) we ordered were fresh and delicious. However my salad had way too much balsamic vinegrette which kind of spoiled an otherwise perfect salad. Order your dressing on the side perhaps? We both ordered the Trout for dinner with roasted vegetables and fingerling potatoes. The fish was fresh and decent proportion; it was good but NOT great. There was just not enough flavor, it was kind of plain. I kept thinking it was poached salmon without any spices. There was no salt or pepper on any table and no lemons even accompanied the dish. Our server didn’t come around to check on us until we were almost finished so basically too late to do anything about it. For dessert, we shared the brownie with ice cream. It was prepared differently from any I’ve had before but quite tasty. The atmosphere was fabulous though, a truly beautiful spot for dinner. I give 4 stars. More

We had several breakfasts and dinners here during a 6-day stay over Christmas, including a special Christmas Day menu. We had some delicious fish entrees, great prime rib and sides, some excellent sushi appetizers, and a warm brownie dessert which was wonderful. Thursday night offered... 1/2 price bottles of wine, so we splurged on a Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon, which will never disappoint anyone who appreciates a hearty red wine. The breakfasts were creative; one morning, we had chilaquiles, something not often found on menus (outside of California or Mexico), which was quite tasty (but not quite as good as my husband's). Their espresso and orange juice were excellent. The service was excellent and we were well treated one night by Isa and during several breakfasts by the charming and efficient server, Margerite. The only downside was the $$$ expense. More

My girls and I decided to enjoy outdoor dining at Oceana Coastal Kitchen at The Catamaran Resort. We ordered the artichoke flat bread, seared spicy tuna salad, seared tuna roll and compliments of the chef, the shrimp ceviche. We were also surprised with an array... of dessert after lunch. The outdoor dinning area was very nice. We loved the fresh air, foliage and fire pit at our table. The Mai Tai and sushi were both delicious. It would have been a perfect evening if the waitress and waiter were friendly and/or accommodating. We asked... the waiter for extra utensils and he seemed annoyed and never brought them. The waitress seemed annoyed to have to serve or attend to us. This was very disappointing and such a negative impact to the overall experience- that could have been wonderful. The view of the bay and the weather were great. If the service had been better, it would have been a perfect dinner out. We were respectful, not loud, not rude or annoying, so we were puzzled about the cold shoulder treatment. We were Catamaran guests, treating ourselves to a getaway after 5 months of quarantine. We saved this restaurant for the last night of our family vacation and kids were excited about the outdoor table with fire and husband and I looked forward to a fancy night out. He likes sushi and he read it had good reviews. I wasn’t... Impressed by the menu choices so I opted for the bread basket and a Caesar salad and asked to add chicken. I expected grilled chicken. But it literally looked and tasted like canned chicken. It was a really disappointing salad for a pricy $22. Very little flavor and not at all worth the price. My 8yo daughter ordered a $15 pb&j and it tasted.. off. She’s not a picky palate but I tasted it too and there was definitely something wrong with it. They removed it from the bill and she just ate the fruit cup and shared my bread and sister’s French fries (which I guess were good cuz kids ate them without complaint. ) We didn’t ask for a replacement meal after we found out what we ordered would not qualify for the kids free October promotion and we’d have to pay $15 (!) per kid’s meal. Our server did not check on us after we’d had our food so we had to flag down someone else for drinks and to send the pbj back. I’d planned to get dessert because the options sounded yummy, but after the disappointing dinner and lacking service we decided to just leave. It wasn’t all bad: The bread was delicious. Husband said sushi was fine and the ambiance definitely couldn’t be beat. Staff, when they were around, were friendly. But for nearly $100 it wasn’t the delicious splurge we hoped for. More

Food was tasty but definitely over-priced. We order 2 hot dogs, 1 flat bread pizza, and a chicken cesear salad and we paid $100. Side note...the food was brought to our lounge chairs.

I wanted to treat my sister to a very Belated birthday so we booked a weekend getaway to San Diego. So I knew we where going to be staying at The Bahia Hotel & Resort and that the Catamaran Hotel and Resort is the Sister... location. So I decided to make a reservation for the Oceana Costal Kitchen for Champagne Brunch and I'm so happy that I did because one it was Memorial Day weekend and second the food, service and weather were excellent. My only regret that I have is not making a reservation for dinner at the Oceana the night before. So if you are going to be in San Diego you should make the Oceana a dining destination to explore because you will not be disappointed in fact you will be in awe of how amazing the dining experience will be. We enjoyed a starter of sushi, king crab, bagel and smoked salmon with capers, red onion and diced egg along with roasted vegetables .... oh and did I mention the Mimosas that never seemed to get half way down the flute. Our second course was prime rib (medium) and Chicken and waffles, and yes my sister and i split them that way we could enjoy them both (sorry I cant pick a favorite because both were on point) Oh and as the saying goes we saved the best for last petite desserts which included a cookie fruit tart, mini blueberry cheese cake and a tiny, chocolate filled pyramid dusted with gold and hazelnuts which honestly was the best because I usually shy away from having chocolate for dessert, but in this case I'm happy I bent the rule. I hope to visit San Diego again, so when I do Ill make sure to dine at the Oceana! More

We had a confirmed reservation today for coastal kitchen at around 4:15pm, and the hostess made us wait around 10-15 minutes standing for she is on the phone trying to handle disputes, can't even put it on hold to tell us briefly that she will... be with us shortly. Very unprofessional. Dont know how to multi-task and doesnt know anything about customer service. And after waiting for her to finish the phone call, she then proceeds to tell us that we can't sit on the seats we reserved and that we will have a different menu because the restaurant we reserved is still closed and will open around 5:30, so apparently there are 2 restaurants in this location and she is trying to get us seated on the side of the one that is open and have their menu instead of coastal kotchen menu (the one we looked at and reserved) We then proceeded to ask for a manager and she said oceana coastal kitchen is still closed and will open 5:30, i told her why would you open reservations at 4:15 and i even saw earlier time slots if the restaurant wont open until 5:30, she was lost for words. It is a waste of time goong down here, we travelled 40mins to go here and they ruined our date night for valentines, we were looking forward to this day and good meals for we liked what we saw online and their menu, but unfortunately we went to a closed restaurant eventhough we had a confirmed reservation, i hope the upper management reads this and does something about it so other people wont waste their time getting reservations and going to a closed restaurant. Clearly they are not in sync with their online reservation team and open table. And please train your staff more about customer service clearly they dont know how to handle this kinds of situations.
