Finally, the first luxury television station dedicated to Superyachts and life on board has arrived, Superyacht TV.

Based out of Monaco, the glamourous Mediterranean principality with yachting in its DNA, Superyacht TV broadcasts premium quality programming centered on six categories – yachts, destinations, life on board, events, tenders and toys, and the creators – to showcase the industry and the yachting lifestyle to a global audience of 30,000,000.

The founders

Superyacht TV was founded by film and television producer Christian Moore, son of actor Roger Moore, Patrick Coote, an established yachting industry professional, and Space Systems International (SSI)-Monaco, an integrated telecommunications provider specialized in satellite telecommunications. It is the first television channel for SSI-Monaco.

How can you watch it?

The channel is broadcast 24/7 and is free-to-view online at www.superyacht.tv , on mobile devices via the Superyacht TV app, or through your IP or satellite provider. The current satellite reach is 30,000,000 households, a figure that is growing every day.

The station is shown in Monaco on Chanel 88 and in important yachting markets such as Dubai, the Emirates and the MENA region via MonacoSat. Expansion into the UK and across Europe is planned for 2019.

The story so far

After a soft launch in January 2018, the channel has grown organically with the support of key players in the yachting industry, including LYBRA, Cluster Yachting Monaco, MYBA, The Superyacht Life Foundation, International Superyacht Society, and the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Partnership opportunities

Statistically, 74 per cent of all daily web traffic is online video content. Superyacht TV offers an opportunity for those in the industry to reach their target audience. Its full-service production team will produce, edit, distribute, and market your video content. Affiliate partnership opportunities also exist.

Additional figures that demonstrate the importance of video as a marketing tool:

  • 10x more engagement on social media when a video is included
  • 60-40 split for video content viewed on mobile devices than on TV in 2017
  • 400% increase in enquiries on premium real estate listings with a video

Comments from Superyacht TV founder, Christian Moore:

“Superyacht TV is the first channel dedicated to superyachts, broadcast on satellite, as well as a dedicated 24/7 channel. It’s a big undertaking to establish a channel where there hasn’t been a lot of content created. But building content is one of the things I enjoy most.”

“We are aiming to give a broad scope and as much visibility as possible to the industry.”

“Superyacht TV has the full support of the industry because we are a visual representation of yachting that hasn’t existed before.”

“Over 70 per cent of the world is covered with water and we want to cover it all. With that, video is the best way to bring across the message and to show people what magnificent creations yachts are.”

Superyacht TV: A visual representation of yachting that hasn’t existed before

By Millie Feroze

Superyacht TV

All aboard. The first television station dedicated entirely to the glamorous and decadent world of superyachts has landed. Superyacht TV, a unique new TV channel spearheaded by film and television producer Christian Moore, the son of Sir Roger Moore, will broadcast the most exciting and premium superyacht coverage - from the creators and life on board, to events, toys and destinations – described by Moore as a ‘visual representation of yachting that hasn’t existed before’.

Unsurprisingly, Superyacht TV is based in Monaco – the Mediterranean destination known for its ostentatious display of the world’s finest superyachts, and home to the exclusive Monaco Yacht Show. Since its soft launch in January this year, the live and free-to-view superyacht channel has already garnered a satellite reach of 30,000,000 households, and gathered support from many of the yachting industry’s most established players, including LYBRA, Cluster Yachting Monaco and MYBA. As Moore points out, ‘we are aiming to give a broad scope and as much visibility as possible to the industry’.

You can immerse yourself in the spectacular and extraordinary lifestyle of superyachting through the company’s online channel, via the Superyacht app, or through your satellite provider. “It’s a big undertaking to establish a channel where there hasn’t been a lot of content created. But building content is one of the things I enjoy most” says Moore. With a stellar CV under his belt, this new TV station is likely to be a hit.

Superyacht TV channels Monaco’s DNA

superyacht tv monaco

Superyacht TV (SYTV), one of five thematic television channels to be released onto Satellite Television Investments’ (STI) distribution platform, will launch early October with an aim to supply exceptional, luxury programming. Broadcast from Monaco, the channel will showcase every aspect of the superyacht world and the amazing lifestyle that goes with it.

Two years ago, STI founder Christian Moore and business partner Patrick Coote saw the opportunity to give Monaco a prominent voice on the world stage by broadcasting short format linear programming and video on demand (VOD) via satellite and IP.

With an extensive background in TV and film, Mr Moore told Monaco Life, “Superyacht TV is a one-stop shop for the yachting world.”

Superyacht TV’s aggregated content will go beyond simply showcasing stunning superyachts, but will provide viewers with backstories – a visual journey, both onboard and onshore – of the people, the destinations and the gateway to an extraordinary lifestyle.

SYTV’s highly targeted connected distribution via its web app (and soon Apple IOS and Android) for live streaming or VOD will reach potential buyers and charterers with “pinpoint accuracy”.

Superyacht TV founders Christian Moore and Patrick Coote

“For advertisers, this offers highly targeted short format programming – not the type of in-depth technical or business content you would find in a magazine,” Mr Coote, who has 25 years of sales and marketing experience within the superyacht industry, said. “We want to reinforce Monaco’s position as the capital of yachting, as a centre of excellence on the world stage. SYTV is a channel with truly global reach that can finally take the positive and inspiring stories about large yachts to a worldwide audience.”

Initially, SYTV’s targeted television will reach homes via the MonacoSat across Europe, the entire Middle East North Africa (MENA) region and Russia, while distributing the channels via IP to 350 million potential viewers through its own application, telecom operators and also through the clients of Mobibase (the company which has also provided its technical infrastructure and know-how to publish SYTV).

An additional agreement is in place for Monaco-based STI to secure distribution onto the Space Systems International (SSI) satellite group (which includes 144 satellites) within a few months, meaning that MonacoSat will distribute Superyacht TV to over 1.7 billion people. The channel will therefore achieve both mass distribution via satellite and highly specific distribution directly to UHNW individuals via accurate online targeting.

Specifically, nine key sponsors will be associated with one Superyacht TV’s nine programme categories – Places to Go, The Yachts, Life on Board, Yacht People, Yacht Events, Tenders & Toys, Superyacht News, The Creators and Superyacht Weather.

Superyacht TV, which offers a full range of high-quality services from production to editing, and from distribution to marketing, has the support of key industry organisations including the Monaco Yacht Club, MYBA, Monaco Yachting Cluster, International Superyacht Society and the Superyacht Life Foundation.

STI’s four luxury-themed “cross pollinating” channels cover Superyachts, Luxury Property, Prestige Cars, Food & Wine. The Environment Channel will also be added.

Commenting that STI channels will transmit from Monaco to the world, Mr Moore added: “The Monaco brand deserves very careful stewardship and global recognition. The quality of our programming and the huge distribution we’ve secured will fully support both these objectives.”

WATCH: The 2021 Monaco Yacht Show Superyacht Lineup

By Jenna Mehdi

With an average vessel length of 54m, the Monaco Yacht Show is the most renowned and elite celebration of large superyachts in the yachting calendar. In an exclusive new video produced by Superyachts.com, we give viewers a glimpse of the exceptional lineup they can expect to see grace the dockside of Port Hercules this year.

With just under two weeks to go before the yachting industry and the world super-rich make their way to the Principality of Monaco, anticipation has never been higher. And with some 80 superyachts exhibiting available for sale or charter, as well as 32 yachts enjoying their world premiere at the show, this year’s event promises to more than meet the hype.

The largest superyacht at the show, confirmed just this week, will be Benetti’s giga yacht flagship 108m IJE. Launched in 2019, IJE is the largest of Benetti’s three giga yachts, and features a timeless exterior by British studio Redman Whiteley Dixon. Also in attendance will be the iconic Lurssen mega yacht KISMET, exhibited by Moran Yacht & Ship, who will also be showcasing 74m Amels yacht PLVS VLTRA.

German shipyard Nobiskrug, now part of the Tennor Group, will showcase its award-winning hybrid superyacht ARTEFACT. Another example of exceptional superyacht sustainability will be showcased by Feadship, with 94m VIVA. Brokerage house Burgess will arrive in full force with a spectacular fleet including the likes of 92m TATOOSH, 86m C2, both for sale, as well as charter yachts 85m VICTORIOUS and 61m CLOUD 9. SilverYachts’ 85m BOLD will impress with her formidable looks, alongside naval-inspired 71m Lurssen superyacht SKAT. More classically elegant appearances will be made by Rossinavi’s new 80m POLARIS, or 72m Turquoise Yachts’ QUANTUM OF SOLACE. The latter is listed for sale with YPI, alongside the 52m Palmer Johnson yacht DB9.

Also on display will be Benetti’s new launch 65m ZAZOU, and another Benetti - 63m 11.11 - will be displayed by Y.CO (for sale and charter). Amels and Damen Yachting will showcase two separate branches of their capabilities with the sleek Amels 188 Volpini II and the YS 5009 shadow vessel TIME OFF. LA MASQUERADE, 55m Amels superyacht available for sale, will be exhibited by Cecil Wright & Partners. Other notable attendees include 49m Columbus Yachts’ K2, 80m Bilgin Yachts’ TATIANA - the largest superyacht built in Turkey - and 55m Heesen Yachts’ MOSKITO. Ocean Independence will exhibit 48m classic CRN yacht AZZURRA II, while SuperyachtsMonaco presents 50m Zepter Yachts’ JOYME.

This year’s edition will also feature a dedicated sailing yacht section, where visitors can admire exceptional sailing yachts including the likes of 33m Vitters’ RIBELLE, 45m Baltic Yachts’ PATH and 30m MORGANA.

For the complete list of superyachts exhibiting, please head to the Monaco Yacht Show’s official website.

Superyacht chefs meet again in test of skills

Superyacht chefs meet again in test of skills

The 5th Superyacht Chef Competition is coming up at the Yacht Club de Monaco. Organised by the YCM in partnership with Bluewater, it takes place on April 4 under the aegis of YCM’s La Belle Classe Academy training centre.

This internationally renowned celebration of the art of fine cuisine at sea puts the spotlight on an essential aspect of yachting professions.

“Every year, this event brings together talented chefs from all over the world, ready to take up the challenge of creating unforgettable culinary experiences as a showcase of gastronomic excellence on superyachts, the Superyacht Chef Competition continues to make its mark on the yachting world while promoting the values of our collective ‘Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach”, says YCM General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri.

“On behalf of my son, I would like to express my gratitude to you all for supporting our association. Your assistance is invaluable,” said Chef Yannick Alléno. The 5th Superyacht Chef Competition promises again to surprise the eyes and taste buds, the end results being judged by a Jury of top professionals supervised by Joël Garault, President of Goûts et Saveurs.

Chef Glenn Viel succeeds Yannick Alléno to head up this international Jury. The three-Michelin star chef is passionate about local produce, combining his Breton roots with Provencal culinary traditions and stands out for his eco-responsible cuisine. Winner of the previous edition, Marco Tognon (M/Y Planet – 72m) is also coming to give his opinion on the quality of the dishes presented alongside Chef Danny Davies. Host of “Behind the Line with Chef Danny Davies” and author of two vegan books, Danny Davies has over 25 years of experience on private yachts. Finalist of Objectif Top Chef, Chef Victoria Vallenilla completes the Jury line-up with Chef Julien Roucheteau, a former student of the Ferrandi School in Paris, two time Michelin star, and Chef Fred Ramos, a disciple of the renowned chef Jacques Maximin who will judge the cuisine and way of working aspects.

This year again the nine superyacht chefs selected to take part have to comply with an anti-waste criterium under the watchful eye of Chef Duncan Biggs, requiring contestants to use every ingredient in the mystery basket, or risk a penalty from an external scoring grid. Three rounds to the grand finale of excellence.

Participating in this fifth edition are: Paulo Ucha Longhi (M/Y Hercules – 50m), Joelyanne Le Faucher (M/Y Artemis – 33m), Mateusz Mitka (M/Y Lady Britt – 63m), Margot Laurent (M/Y Leonardo III – 43m), Enzo Di Gabro (M/Y L.A.U.L. – 39m), Giacomo Seregni (M/Y Severin’s – 55m), Jérémie Gruson (M/Y Victoria del mar – 50m) and Ava Faulkner (M/Y Light Holic – 60m). The criteria behind the contest’s success have been retained where contestants only find out what’s in the basket of mystery ingredients five minutes before they get behind their stoves.

Thinking on their feet and being super-adaptable is key. During this time, the public can add a missing ingredient to the basket. They are then invited to vote for the best culinary presentation adding another interactive dimension to this prestigious competition. As they compete to show off their ingenuity and expertise, participating chefs always manage to keep spectators in suspense right through to the final showdown. In a nutshell, all the ingredients are there to ensure this competition lives up to its reputation as a major event.
