How to build big in Megapolis - hints, tips, and tricks

I had a thoroughly good time playing and reviewing Megapolis , noting that it's a slightly deeper freemium builder than the usual fare.

Partly because of this added complexity, and partly because I love being in the Megapolis universe, I've headed back into Social Quantum's virtual world to uncover the secrets of a successful city.

Oh, and to document my findings on this page for you, fair reader.

So, read on for the inside track on becoming the best city builder you can.

yacht island megapolis

Think about it logically: if you were actually managing the transformation of a town into a city, you wouldn't rush to build a massive bridge to attract potential residents to your area when all you've got to offer them is a bowling alley and a few residential buildings. It's pointless, and it's expensive.

Don't overstretch yourself, then. And make sure you keep dutifully plugging away at the tasks that fill up the list on the left-hand side of the screen. Scroll through them and see what's cheap and quick to finish, and get those elements into your town quickly.

You'll race through the XP levels with all the experience you'll gain, unlocking loads of buildings and facilities for when you do want to start sculpting your urban masterpiece.

yacht island megapolis

Energy is an early barrier to building more facilities, so ensure you have plenty of renewables scattered about the land. Water isn't a major issue at all, so you can pretty much ignore this element. Population, meanwhile, limits how many buildings you can erect, but I wouldn't worry about this too much.

Money and Megabucks are the two resources that will be in shortest supply. By completing tasks and taxing your citizens, Money is replenished naturally throughout the game. The real dosh is made, though, through manufacturing, which can take up hours of real-world time.

How often you play will determine the product you make. Each product takes a different length of time to construct, and different lengths of time will result in different amounts of money earned. That wonga is useless, however, if you never get a chance to spend it.

Megabucks are the premium currency, and are, thus, very hard to come by. If there's one pro tip to which you really ought to pay attention, it's this: do not spend Megabucks on anything other than land expansions.

Take heed of all this advice and you'll be erecting things all over the place in no time, with constant "Congratulations" messages popping up. All of which you should share with your friends for extra rewards.

Actually, speaking about friends...

yacht island megapolis

As in life, one of the best things in Megapolis is having friends. You get a nice bonus for adding friends via the icon on the bottom left of the screen. Your buddies' worth, though, is definitely more than fiscal. They're materially important, too, you see.

In the game, your friends are absolutely essential in your unlocking later content, for there are plenty of buildings and constructions - such as the Warehouse and the Bridge - that require enough money AND materials to build them.

You can purchase parts of buildings with Megabucks, but you'd be a chump to do that. The most cost-effective way of getting them is to Request them.

To do this, tap the gift box in the bottom left of the screen, tap 'Your Wishlist', and add the items you need. Alternatively, you can tap on the construction itself and press the 'Ask' button.

Don't forget to send gifts to your neighbours, too, for you don't want to look like a Selfish Simon.

You can also visit towns to expedite the acquisition of resources from Contracts. Though you can help individual people a limited number of times per day, the number of friends you can visit is limited only by how many mates you have. Again, you're rewarded for good deeds, so make sure to do this every day.

Megapolis Strategy Guide: 6 Awesome Tips & Tricks for Building the Perfect City

By: Author Tim McNeil

Posted on Last updated: September 30, 2021

Megapolis is touted to be the “number one city builder game in more than 20 countries,” and like other conventional city builder games, Social Quantum LTD’s title allows you to form alliances, trade materials, and create the best city you could while managing all sorts of facilities, including oil and gas mines, power plants, airports, railway stations, and more. The game also includes “world-famous architecture from ancient to modern times,” and over 700 different buildings and sites with “hundreds” of different construction materials.

As Megapolis is quite a deep title, it’s the kind of game you’ll want to play as often as possible, and as long as possible – this isn’t your average casual or Match 3 title. In order to get the most out of the game, we’ve got six awesome Megapolis tips to share with you that will allow you to succeed without having to cheat.

1. Focus On Population Growth

building a city in megapolis

Growing your population in Megapolis is important, as more people in your city means more taxes to collect, more individuals to hire for construction, and more benefits in the grand scheme of things. However, your population cap has to be boosted in order for you to bring more people into the city. You can lift this figure by creating different types of structures, and not simply resorting to constructing a whole lot of houses; residential buildings, after all won’t do anything to raise your population cap.

2. Accept Quests Or Challenges

industry development in megapolis

These challenges, or mini-games, aren’t as inconsequential as you think – they may be optional when it comes to Megapolis’ main objectives, but the more challenges or quests you complete, the more chances you’ll have to unlock more buildings, add to your experience points and coins, and win special prizes.

3. Pay Attention To Taxes

megapolis mayor

Taxes will be the best way for you to earn more money in the game, and you can start increasing your tax rate once you’ve constructed a Tax Office. However, you wouldn’t want to impose exorbitant taxes on your city’s residents – just like in real life, high tax rates make people unhappy. Lower or more manageable tax rates, conversely, also can help you lift your population cap and attract more people to move into your city.

4. Don’t Be Afraid To Communicate With Other Players

megapolis military power

Megapolis has a social element, which would make it beneficial for you to add friends. The more friends you have, the more chances you’ll get to build important structures at a lower cost. You can also visit other cities, so that way you can expedite resource acquisition for the projects in your own city.

5. Upgrade Your Production Structures Regularly

megapolis railroad

Upgrading structures, like in other city builder games, makes your city more productive and more efficient. You’ll want to upgrade production buildings before thinking of expansion, as it allows for a clean and energy-efficient city.

6. Invest In Parks And Monuments

megapolis infrastructure

These attractions may not seem important to newer players, but you’ll want to invest in them so that you can add coins to your bank account, stock up on those XPs, and increase your population cap figure.

A City at Sea: New Mega-Yacht Concept Resembles the Streets of Monaco

Mega Yacht Concept Resembles the Streets of Monaco

A sovereign city-state located in the French Riviera, Monaco is known as a “billionaire’s playground” for its lavish lifestyle, beautiful architecture, high-end casinos, and love for its famous annual street circuit race, The Monaco Grand Prix. The city also draws thousands of tourists every year, looking to soak in the stunning Mediterranean views and take a yacht ride through one of its many gorgeous harbors. Recently, Yacht Island Design , a boating design firm known for its out-of-this-world yacht concepts, has taken on a new project inspired by this French paradise’s luxury appeal, and there’s no other idea quite like it on the market today.

The Streets of Monaco is a 508-foot-long superyacht concept that has all the amenities of this beloved French province, wrapped into one over-the-top vessel. If built, it can house up to 16 guests and a crew of 70 to ensure a top-notch, individualized service experience for everyone onboard—all while cruising at a comfortable 15 mph at sea. What distinguishes this boat design from the rest, however, isn’t just its Mediterranean-style façade or its impressive size. The Streets of Monaco will deliver just what its name suggests—all the comforts and beauty of Monaco, including an onboard casino, racetrack, and stylized interiors that mimic the city’s iconic surroundings.

High Life on the High Seas

yacht island megapolis

When it goes into production, this imposing yacht will be from top to bottom an homage to the sumptuous beauty of Monaco. All of the must-see landmarks have been integrated into the boat’s clever design. Rooms inspired by everything from the Hotel de Paris to Lowes Hotel to the Monte Carlo Casino can be found throughout the vessel’s sprawling interior, and the Grand Atrium and Oasis areas offer airy foyer-like spaces that center the vessel’s living space and make passengers feel as though they never left land. The boat’s four decks contain a variety of living areas, each with Monaco-inspired interior designs, with lavish colors and ornate decorations that offer a slice of paradise and amazing ambience while away at sea.

yacht island megapolis

The deck of the ship is home to several sparkling swimming pools, overlooking the high seas, and of course, what over-the-top yacht wouldn’t come equipped with a helipad and a tennis court? Perhaps The Streets of Monaco’s most innovative concept, though, is its indoor racetrack, which allows up to three passengers to get out their checkered flags, hop in a go-kart, and race each other to their heart’s content. The boat’s exterior also reflects the towering roadways of Monaco, with its white colonnades, soaring arches, and castle-like structures. Inside, passengers can also ascend from the pool area via a marble staircase up to the ship’s spa area, where everyone onboard can melt their cares away with a massage or time in the sauna. This yacht concept—a marvel of modern engineering—is for owners who want to turn heads, and spark imaginations, while sailing into any harbor.

A Billion Dollar Investment

yacht island megapolis

The Streets of Monaco may look like an extension of this celebrated French province adrift at sea, but its staggering price tag is also reflective of the high-end residents and clientele who live there. At a staggering one billion dollar estimated production cost, this superyacht is only for the most well-to-do investors, who want to spend some serious time away from the cares of land-living and get lost at sea—if only for a while. Purchasing this yacht is like buying a floating estate, however, offering a dance hall, thousands of square feet of cozy living space, and sundecks with private jacuzzis, among other things. For the world’s wealthiest—and luckiest—patrons, this Monaco dreamboat, and all of its stunning features, can become an enviable, larger than life reality.

Suge Knight Reacts from Prison to Diddy Raids, 'You're in Danger'

Diddy's private jet tracked to caribbean island amid raids in u.s., diddy loveair private jet tracked amid raids down on caribbean island.

Diddy 's homes were raided in the U.S. to kick off the week -- but the guy's own private jet is miles away in a completely different nation ... although it's unclear if he's aboard himself.

TMZ has tracked Diddy's personal LoveAir LLC jet -- the well-known black Gulfstream 5 that Diddy has flaunted and flown for years now -- and it looks like the aircraft is currently on the ground in Antigua ... which is down in the Caribbean.

Based on the flight activity, viewed by TMZ, Diddy's jet has been up and down California between Sunday and Monday -- taking off from Sacramento Executive Airport Sunday evening around 5:30 PM PT and landing at Palm Springs Int'l Airport about an hour later.

An hour after that, around 7:30 PM PT, Diddy's jet took off from Palm Springs yet again and landed at Van Nuys Airport, which is in the L.A. area, about 30 minutes later around 8:00 PM PT. Around 9 AM PT Monday, the jet took off from Van Nuys airport and landed at some point in Antigua.

The plane is currently grounded there, although the flight data has yet to update and register him as having officially landed. In any case, it's definitely Diddy's jet ... no question.

The only thing that remains unanswered is whether Diddy is on the plane -- we don't have any evidence he is at this point ... and we also don't know what's happening on the scene.

As we reported ... two of Diddy's homes, in L.A. and MIami, were swarmed by federal law enforcement agencies Monday -- and armed officials stormed the properties, taking some people into custody ... including his sons Justin and King . Unclear if any arrests took place.

The raids are believed to have stemmed from accusations hurled at Diddy in multiple lawsuits -- which have touched on alleged human and sex trafficking, among other claims ... all of which he's vehemently denied.

We've reached out to Diddy's rep and lawyers ... so far, no word back.

Floating islands: when a mega-yacht just won't do

Islands and yachts may have been the “it” destination for high-end tourists for years, but no more. The newest thing for the wealthy vacationer is a combination yacht and island: your own floating, move-able island.Floating islands have been in the works since people first imagined exploring the ocean, but technology is finally making that a reality.

The Wally Island premiered four years ago as a kind of giant floating home that’s 325 feet long, $200 million and comes with its own swimming pool. Yacht Island Designs also provides vacation-goers with a $50 million floating island that can be customized to look like a tropical paradise or the streets of Monaco – complete with small castle or fake volcano as you see fit.

The latest of these aqua-offerings, the ORSOS Island, announced last month, is smaller (at 65 feet by 121 feet) and cheaper (at just over $6 million) than its predecessors. The floating islands destinations, which really have no set destination, are the hottest trend in wealthy travel.

A number of organizations and companies have even begun developing plans for floating cities, including a concept that would house 50,000 people in a floating lily pad-style island with the outside layer reacting with UV light to create an air-purifying effect. One plan, from the Seasteading Institute, hopes to create floating cities as a way to allow new, sustainable communities to be built outside the governments of existing countries. All these ideas have been growing in popularity as property becomes increasingly expensive and in-demand. The ORSOS Island won’t be unveiled until 2013, but interest and orders have already been high, said ORSOS management assistant Jacqueline Jackson. The company is even considering chartering the island to make it more affordable for the masses. “It’s human nature to want to pioneer new places,” said Randolph Hencken, senior director of the Seasteading Institute.

What separates floating islands from just your run-of-the-mill mega-yacht is the feeling of actually being on land, yet living on the sea. Most floating islands aim to be sustainable and exist off the world they’re floating on top of. The ORSOS uses solar panels, wind power, and heat recovery from seawater to produce its own energy, which powers the island, converts seawater into drinking water and treats wastewater. ORSOS has no motor either; a tugboat or cargo ship is needed to change your vacation location. Although much focus in recent years has been on exploring space and that final frontier, Hencken believes it makes more sense, and offers just as much for the high-end vacationers, to first explore what’s right beneath us. “We already have the technology to live on the ocean,” he said. And, that technology can be yours – for just a few million dollars.

Miami Plans Island Home for Mega-Yachts

Fort Lauderdale's Sunset Harbor Marina is a model for what's envisioned for Miami's Watson Island. Dock fees for mega-yachts at Sunset Harbor can run close to $1,000 per day.

The last several years have been excellent for the yacht industry. There's a worldwide boom, particularly in the construction of mega-yachts -- boats 100 feet and longer. But it's not all smooth sailing for millionaire mariners. There's a shortage of docks big enough to handle these luxury liners, and nowhere is that crunch felt more than in South Florida.

In the area's marinas and canals, yachts 200 feet, 300 feet, even 400 feet long are not unusual. They can command prices over $50 million. Even at that price, there's a shortage of boats -- and a shortage of places to keep them.

"There's just so many of them being built and there's just nowhere in South Florida to put them all," says Dave Culver, manager at Fort Lauderdale's Sunrise Harbor Marina. "They have to call months ahead to even get a spot here."

A project approved by Miami voters five years ago is designed to help ease the shortage.

Developer Mehmet Bayraktar plans to build a $480 million complex on Watson Island, located in the shadow of downtown in Biscayne Bay. The centerpiece would be a 50-slip mega-yacht marina capable of handling boats up to 465 feet long. The development would also include two high-rise hotel towers, shopping and restaurant space, a museum and a park.
