Serenity on the Sound at Cedar Point Yacht Club

Cedar Point Yacht Club is located on Saugatuck Island in Westport, Connecticut. The marina overlooks the Long Island Sound from the mouth of the beautiful Saugatuck River. Home to some of the best sailboat racing in Connecticut, Cedar Point is a fun and exciting destination for all types of boaters. The club house is encircled by an awesome veranda deck, providing an incredible view of the harbor. The club house also includes a snack bar, kitchen facility, self-service bar, and spacious shower area.

Cedar Point Yacht Club is a talented service marina as well, staffed by a team of experienced professionals. Some of the onsite mechanical features include a wide launch ramp, a 5-ton crane, and a host of electric hoists to ensure that going from water to land is simple and worry free. While your vessel is tended to, you and your family are welcome to take full advantage of the picnic areas onsite. The provided tables, grills, and sandy beaches are the perfect ingredients for a relaxing meal before or after a day on the water. If you’re looking for a little more adventure then hop into a Saugatuck taxi and head to downtown Westport. It is just 15 minutes away and loaded with tons of activities and more! In town you’ll find a variety of wonderful shops, boutiques as well as plenty of tasty restaurants to choose from.

Don’t forget to check out any of the awesome racing events hosted by Cedar Point during your stay. The fast paced sailboat racing is a must see for anyone new to the area. Events will be sponsored by the club all summer long!

Great yacht club that makes room for transients, including at last minute. Very well protected. Takes about 20' to motor from the Georges Rock buoy through the very narrow but well marked channel. Westport has everything, but it's too far to walk to town.

2023 Junior NAC - Cedar Point Yacht Club, Westport, CT

The Cedar Point Yacht Club in Westport, CT is excited to be hosting the 2023 FSSA Junior North Americans on July 7-9. The class has approved a "juniors only" event and details on qualification, fees and schedule are in the NOR posted here along with the registration link https://cedarpointyc.org/regatta/epbe59oB9w

We encourage teams to bring your own boats but a limited number of competitive loaner boats will be available on a first come basis. Friday afternoon we will provide an on-land and on-water clinic for any interested teams followed by 2 days of racing on Long Island Sound.

We are hoping this will be a start to help gain some interest in introducing younger sailors to the fun and challenges of racing a Flying Scot and they can build life long friendships through Flying Scot sailing.

Westport's largest-ever regatta at cedar point yacht club, william adler , neighbor.

Cedar Point Yacht Club (CPYC) will be hosting its annual One-Design Regatta on May 31 and June 1, 2014.

Throughout its history, Westport's Cedar Point Yacht Club has held regattas in which sailors race against other boats of the same design and size. This encourages high-level sailboat racing among sailors as they are competing in almost identical boats, conditions, and courses -- the best sailors win.

This year, the CPYC One-Design Regatta, the fastest-growing regatta on Long Island Sound, will host more than 100 sailboats, ranging from 19 to 37 feet long, on May 31 and June 1. A remarkable seven series of races will be going on simultaneously. The racers will include:

Soverel 33s (holding their National championships)

J/70s (holding their New England championships)

Beneteau First 36.7s, J/30s, J/105s, J/109s, Vipers

Some 500 sailors will be racing, 100 more than last year.

While a third of the sailors are from Westport, Southport, Fairfield and other parts of Connecticut, many sailors and their boats are traveling from as far away as Canada and Texas to participate in the two-day sailing event. This is expected to be the largest regatta in Westport's history for the second year in a row – a colorful and exciting visual and truly a top-tier American sporting event.

The Regatta is being supported by the work of nearly one hundred volunteer Club members, supported by the environmental efforts of Save the Sound, and presented by Fairfield County Bank and McMichael Yacht Brokers . The event is also sponsored by North Sails , West Marine , Landfall , Quantum Sails , the Black Rock Yacht and Athletic Club , Rex Marine , Atlantic Yacht Rigging , and Two Roads Brewery.

About Cedar Point Yacht Club

Cedar Point Yacht Club was organized in 1887 by a group of prominent Fairfield County sportsmen with a simply stated and clear purpose: to "promote interest in the sport of sailing." This spirit of competition, on which CPYC was founded, remains its focus today.

Currently, CPYC hosts active fleets of Atlantics, Stars, Thistles, Lightnings, Flying Scots, Vanguard-15s, Lasers, and larger boats racing under PHRF. Recently, CPYC has opened its membership to owners of sport boats, including J/70s and Viper 640s. CPYC continues its 50-year tradition of hosting annual regattas for each of the classes with fleets here, and is regularly selected to host major championships. Over the years, the Club has developed a reputation for running outstanding regattas. As CPYC looks ahead to the future, it remains guided by the original mission first put forth in 1887, to "promote interest in the sport of sailing."
