Working Aboard a Luxury Yacht: An Overview
Imagine your days full of work where you will meet people from all over the world, travel to exotic destinations, eat gourmet meals with a private chef and feel the breeze of the ocean air right in your office. Seems a little far fetched right?
Charter yachts take guests on a single or multi-day trip for a fee. Some of these yachts may be commercially owned by a large corporation while others are owned by private individuals who commonly act as captain.
What about mega yachts such as those owned by Saudi princes and the billionaires of the world like Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder, and famous golfer Tiger Woods? Mega Yachts, luxury yachts and superyachts are all yachts that are 78 feet or more. These vessels can cost from one million U.S. dollars or more.
Finally, smaller yachts are much more affordable than they once were and more captains are buying their own yacht and pushing off anchor to explore the world on their own terms.
No matter the size of the vessel a crew is necessary.
Start your search for your Dream Job Today!
Unlike the busy cruise lines, working on private yachts offers an opportunity to work with a small amount of guests and co workers. The intimate setting paints a pretty picture enabling crew members to bond closely with their fellow crew members, employers and guests that make take passage upon the yacht they work for.
Yachting etiquette must be portrayed and a sense of adventure is a must!

9 superyacht crew members share what it's really like working for a billionaire on board
- Superyachts are luxurious, but working on them isn't.
- Insider polled superyacht crew members to find out what it's really like working for a billionaire on board.
- They said their days are spent fulfilling requests and keeping the yacht in top shape — but it really all depends on the superyacht owner.
- Visit Insider's homepage for more stories .
While working on a superyacht sounds glamorous, in reality it can be anything but.
Insider polled superyacht crew members to get an inside look at life on board. When asked what working for a millionaire or billionaire is really like, they agreed on a few things, like long hours.
Many superyacht crew members wake up before dawn to start their day, which typically involves a lot of cleaning and catering to the requests of owners and guests.
Read more: The super rich are hoarding cash — instead bartering yachts, $30 million mansions, and caviar to ride out the pandemic
But while some superyacht owners are demanding, others are less so — it really all depends on their personality. Some crew members said that owners and guests are more like regular people than you'd expect.
Here's what life on board looks like, according to nine superyacht crew members.
Note: Insider was able to verify each crew member's identity, but we refrained from publishing their full names to protect their privacy.
Working on a yacht can be lucrative.
Insider previously reported that deckhands earn an average of $3,083 to $3,574 a month, depending on the boat size. Captains reportedly get paid even more — they earn $7,750 to $19,961 a month on average.
Kate Lardy of the Sun Sentinel reported that a captain in Fort Lauderdale once spent a total of $14,255 on day workers, who are hired temporarily for onboard services, during a two-month period.
But it's also tiring and demanding.
One captain who works on a 120-foot boat alluded to tiring conditions. Working for a billionaire is "demanding," he said, with hours that begin very early — before 6 a.m. — and end very late.
Yacht crew members have to meet high expectations.
One electronic technical officer who works on a 223-foot yacht stressed the pressure of delivering top-notch service while remaining level-headed.
Working on a yacht involves "very, very long days with little rest and expectations to perform at the highest levels of service while not losing your cool under pressure," he said.
They have to work hard to keep yachts spotless.
Guests and owners can be messy and dirty — and it's up to the crew to make sure it doesn't look that way. A mate on a 92-foot yacht said he had to wake up before guests or other crew members to get the yacht's exterior ready for the day.
"They expect it to look like no one has touched it," he said. "So any rain or dew, water spots, bird crap, or salt spray has to be continuously cleaned, not to mention having to constantly wipe stainless [steel] and glass when guests move around the boat. They leave smudges and fingerprints everywhere.
"By the time I start at the top of the boat and move around drying the boat, washing windows, and prepping water toys, depending on where the guests are, it's time to clean behind them."
He said he then has to be available for whatever the day brings, whether guests want to take the tender out or play with water toys, the interior crew needs help with service, or any maintenance issues need to be addressed.
There's a lot of cleaning, smiling, and snacking.
Nic, a chief stewardess, shared her typical daily itinerary, which extends from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., with a one-hour break for a power nap.
There's constant snacking, as she doesn't always have time to sit and eat, she said. She's also "always thinking and planning ahead for the next meal or excursion," like what guests "need to take with them and what they need upon return," she said.
"Always thinking of ways to make the day special and 'perfect' (as much as possible)," she said.
She added: "Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and lots of smiling. Behind the scenes, a lot of running around and working at high speed, throwing stuff into drawers and sorting it out later when you have time, laughing, and keeping crew spirits high. Never-ending laundry."
Work is easier when the owners are away, which is often.
Billionaire owners actually don't spend a lot of time on their multimillion-dollar yachts. Neither do the guests who charter them.
"Owners or guests are typically not on the boat all that much, so most of the time the crew has the boat to themselves," said Michael, a former yacht captain who worked on yachts ranging from 130 to 170 feet.
"Work is pretty easy and consists of general maintenance and keeping the boat in perfect/ready state for when the owner does show up. If you have a good crew it can be very enjoyable. If you do not, it can be very stressful and miserable."
Everything depends on the owner's personality.
Some crew members get lucky working for generous yacht owners, while others get treated like the help.
"It's hard work and long days when they are on board," said Martin, the captain of a 155-foot yacht. "It really depends on the owner. Some have treated me like family, and some have treated me like a servant."
But sometimes it's not the owner who's difficult.
A chef on a 150-foot motor yacht also said that working for a billionaire could be unpredictable, as every boat and owner is different.
But it's not the owner of the yacht who's always difficult to work for.
"Bear in mind that the captain is every bit as much your boss as the owner is, and sometimes the captain is a bigger pain in the ass than the billionaire owner," she said.
Yacht owners are just your everyday people on vacation — with more money.
According to Mark, the captain of a 114-foot yacht, billionaire owners are just like normal vacationers. Kind of.
"They're just people holidaying, but with more money and toys to fill their days," he said.
They can be more down-to-earth than expected, but their spontaneity can be frustrating.
"It's really nice to find out that some of the wealthiest people you'll work for are actually more down-to-earth and normal like any person you'd meet on the street," a stewardess on a 112-foot sailing yacht said. "The saying is 'money screams, wealth whispers.'"
She added: "A typical day involves turning heads, beds, and laundry for guests and crew, which can be a lot if you're a department of one. Food and beverage service three times a day. A lot of plans and schedules change on the fly depending on the owners and their wants and whims, which can be a bit frustrating."

Yacht Crewing is that magical mix between large cruise sailing and small ship charm. The open seas, travel and lets not forget some serious hard work. The romanticism of sailing has captured an extreme audience; some stay in it for the long haul, purchasing their own boats and sailing professionally. Others pay the fee and enjoy the boat from a passenger’s perspective fulfilling their sailing dreams and then returning to their everyday lives. Regardless of how or why, yacht sailing has a very intense draw for a wide variety of people. This appeal has translated into an industry that is growing, with jobs that need filling.
Types of Yachts
Luxury Yachts are rarely seen and then forgotten. Typically gorgeous, and ranging in size, yachts of this kind can include mega yachts and super yachts the sort you hear billionaires own, with ridiculous amenities and ship life that reflects high-end living. Charter Yachts can be equally as nice and are usually paid for by the day or multi-day trip. These types of trips can vary extensively, ranging from tours around a popular bay to month long cruises in exotic oceans. Charter Yachts are owned by a captain, or possibly a company, who charter their boats out for private use. The staff and passengers onboard are small and usually the same crew works for the duration of many chartered cruises. Staff on a chartered yacht can expect long hours and hard work. An employee usually walks away with an extensive knowledge of the boat and a large number of skills to add to his/her resume. Chartered Yachts aren’t always categorized as ‘luxury yachts’ but the living environment of most are fairly high-end with fine dining, luxurious travel locations and a staff that is well mannered.
What isn’t different from working on a yacht to that of larger ship is the amount of work an employee can expect. The sea is demanding and with a smaller ship, you can’t hide a job un-done nearly as well. The hours are long, but the work rewarding. While an employee might have a specific job title, the work often ends up a collective group effort with everyone doing a little bit of everything. Because of the allure of yacht cruising, some captains take on workers who are so eager to learn, they are allowed to stay onboard for free and work solely for the experience of learning the boat. While this is rare, it is an excellent reflection of how attractive yacht cruising can be, even from a worker’s perspective. The etiquette onboard is usually set at a high standard and among the standard safety and required training, is etiquette training as well. Employees can expect small cabins with little to no, personal space. Maritime rigmarole and ship hierarchy are followed on a yacht in the same way they are on a larger ship and the staff will be expected to be well disciplined and respectful. High standards of cleanliness are almost a religion onboard a yacht and with so many people sharing such a confined space, staff will find themselves doing their fair share of janitorial work.
The work hours and expectations more than pay off for the maritime knowledge learned and experiences so amazing, they can almost not be described. Employees who are willing to deal with high demands are usually rewarded with great memories and unforgettable experiences.

Taking a Gap Year and Working on A Luxury Yacht
So you’re thinking about taking a gap year from studies and going to work on a luxury yacht? We can tell you from experience that you’re in for one hellova ride! But also, possibly one of the most rewarding jobs you’ll ever have.
Most people’s first question to us is usually along the lines of “was all that stress and time away from friends worth it?” – Yes my friend, yes it was! It was incredibly challenging at times with a steep learning curve, but so rewarding . The experience alone taught us so many things that will help you when you decide to go back to your studies, or pursue a career post studies.
Taking A Gap Year
Taking a gap year between high school and college has been growing in popularity and can be a great alternative and opportunity for those who need a change of scenery with an abundance of growth and learning.
If you are considering continuing your studies on your return, it is advisable to possibly still apply to college or university in your senior year – thus taking advantage of high school connections, counsellors and teachers for support, and referrals. It’s also a great idea to ask prospective institutions about their gap year policy – which will also quickly help you determine whether it is for you or not. Some may require that you interview prior, and put down a deposit for your deferred studies.
Convincing Your Parents
The easiest way is to guarantee that you will continue to study further, by applying to your institution of choice prior to announcing your gap year, and of course telling your parents that some of the funds you’ll make on your gap year will go towards your further education!
The other is to convince them that it’s not a holiday – especially in the case of working on a luxury yacht. It may look glamorous and all, but it’s going to be a lot of discipline and hard work. You’ll learn some great people skills, tenacity and patience – all great skills to have for your further education or career later on.
What You Need To Know: Jobs Available
The most common types of jobs on superyachts, especially with no prior experience are for deckhands and stewardesses .
These roles do not require previous yachting experience, making these the easiest positions to jump into for inexperienced crew. Responsibilities for deckhands include deck maintenance, chamois/polishing the boat exterior, launching and driving tenders and assisting guests with the safe use of the boat’s ‘toys’ – banana boats, jet skis, laser sail boats etc. The stewardess’ responsibilities include detailing the boat’s interior, guest and crew laundry, housekeeping, meals and drinks service.
There is a lot of competition for the rookie jobs on yachts. The better prepared you can be, the more chance you might have of landing that job on luxury yacht or superyacht.
What You Need To Know: Eligibility
Typically aged 18 years or older are considered.
No criminal record.
Be able to swim.
Medically fit to pass a ENG1 Medical Examination .
Sufficient funds to pay for program fees, flights and all additional costs.
Be independent, self-motivated and customer service oriented.
Looking to work for a full year or longer.
What You Need To Know: Prep, Training & Visas
Certain credentials are now mandatory for new crew looking for superyacht jobs. Any person working on boats must hold an up-to-date seafarer medical certificate . In addition, all crew members must have completed the nine-day basic safety training course – STCW 2010 .
Anyone looking to get into working on superyachts should be aware of the potential costs involved. The STCW course alone costs approximately R6,500, plus there may well be travel and accommodation expenditure involved, with no guarantee of a job at the end of it all. Having sufficient funds to go and live in some of the popular yacht departure locations, such as the south of France, Mediterranean, Caribbean etc will also help your chances of getting a job – as you can meet the Captain face to face.
You will also need to be prepared to work hard . The industry is well-known for its long hours and round the clock duties. In addition, crew quarters are invariably small and cramped, and undoubtedly you will be sharing with another person. The ability to get on well with other crew members in such conditions is a life skill worth learning.
Depending on where you’ll be located, you may also require specific Visas for travel and/ or work permits. Some Visa approvals can take quite long, depending on your local government, and country of travel. Be sure to try and plan in advance. You don’t want to get the opportunity of a lifetime only to be stuck on-shore as you don’t have the correct Visas!! Speak to us on tips to plan for this.
What You Could Earn
With no prior experience you would typically start as Junior Stewardesses (girls) or Deck Hands (boys). These positions will see you working very hard, often long and unsocial hours, but wages are substantial (and tax free) and the travel opportunities and other perks of the job are fantastic. Progression up through the ranks (and earning potential) will depend on your work ethic and level of motivation.
The earning potential onboard is also significant. Starting salaries for new crew are in the region of $2,200 per month. That’s also tax free and with no expenses as your living costs are paid for onboard. Some crews also will earn tips in addition – but this largely depends on the type of yacht you’re on, who’s on board and the purpose of the sail.
All in all, if you’re considering a gap year, the time it takes for training, courses, visas and just general waiting time to get picked to crew, can take a couple of months. If you are serious about doing this, try as best as possible to plan in advance . Go mix with local yachties and find out when the next opportunity could be. Sign up for placement academies and get your yachting CV ready.
With the right credentials and a bit of luck, you might just land your dream role working on a luxury yacht, making money, rubbing shoulders with the world’s rich and famous and getting to see some beautiful places whilst at it.

The luxury yacht, or LY for short, was designed to “feel like a hideout in the middle of the sea,” according to Lexus. The exterior reflects the automaker’s “L-finesse” design philosophy, with curvy, head-turning lines and a sharp bow creating a sporty profile.
The interior centers around a “comfortable living space,” Lexus says. With a beam of nearly 19 feet, the yacht offers a decent amount of space onboard, too. The nameplate didn’t divulge many details regarding decor, but Italian design powerhouse Nuvolari Lenard spearheaded the interior design of the 650. In terms of layout, the 680 is equipped with three cabins on the lower deck and a light-filled salon, galley, and helm station on the main deck.
The exterior is bigger—and perhaps better—than that of the 650. The flybridge has been extended by about 4.5 feet and adorned with a plush lounge and grill. The aft swim platform has also been lengthened by roughly 2.3 feet.
In terms of performance, the 680 will be powered by a pair of 12.8-liter turbocharged Volvo D13 engines capable of delivering 1,350 hp each to IPS drives. (The yacht can also be equipped with slightly less powerful 1,050 hp engines.) The 650 sported the same propulsion system and could reach 33.5 knots at full tilt.

lexus expands LY680 yacht's swimming platform and flybridge to fit a barbecue grill on deck
Lexus expands ly680 luxury yacht’s flybridge.
At the Japan International Boat Show 2024, Lexus unveiled the 1/20 scale model of its new LY680 Luxury Yacht , an upgrade of the previous LY650 water vehicle . Lexus’ latest model comes with an expanded swimming platform and flybridge to accommodate more guests on deck. The extended flybridge, which measures 1,400mm, now features a spacious lounge area and a dedicated barbecue grill, while the swimming platform has been expanded by 700mm to accommodate additional guests who wish to take a dip in the sea.
When Lexus conceived the idea for its LY680 Luxury Yacht, even before its debut at the Japan International Boat Show 2024 , the design team aimed to create a water vehicle that would feel like a ‘tranquil hideaway at sea.’ They imagined it as a moving space where ‘discerning customers could feel free and at ease.’ The resulting concept was a three-level luxury yacht equipped with living spaces that make the LY680 feel like a deluxe apartment on the sea.
The passengers enter the Lexus’ LY680 Luxury Yacht, and when they descend, they can find a kidney-shaped sofa nestled in one corner. Adjacent to the sofa is a desk with a plush seat, tailored as a workspace at sea for those who still need to hustle. Panoramic windows adorn the space, offering views of the waters and allowing natural light to flood in. The use of dark, varnished wood adds a sense of opulence to the interior, and across from the sofa and desk, a semi-circular bed invites passengers to relax while watching the waves and scenery through slanted windows.
1/20 scale model at Japan International Boat Show 2024
Walking up to the control area, the captain of Lexus’ LY680 Luxury Yacht navigates the water vehicle with ease through the expansive set of windows. The openness of the space is further enhanced by plush seating, two of them reminiscent of cinema seats. Even the wooden floors help brighten up the overall aesthetic. During the Japan International Boat Show 2024, where yacht enthusiasts could view the 1/20 scale model of the LY680, Lexus revealed that the luxury yacht can accommodate up to 15 passengers across three rooms with six beds.
Twin Volvo engines for Lexus’ LY680 Luxury Yacht
For those interested in specifications, Lexus’ LY680 Luxury Yacht is expected to be equipped with Twin Volvo IPS 1350/1050 engines and have a fuel tank capacity of 4,012 liters and a fresh water tank capacity of 852 liters. Production of the luxury yacht will be carried out by the Horizon Group, based on the Toyota Production System. Lexus has announced that yacht enthusiasts can reserve their water vehicle model through Toyota Marine sales offices in Japan and select dealerships. As of publishing, Lexus aims to deliver the first batch of the LY680 Luxury Yacht in Spring 2026, with international availability pending based on customer demand.

March 27, 2024 - Baltimore Key Bridge collapse
By Kathleen Magramo , Antoinette Radford, Alisha Ebrahimji , Maureen Chowdhury , Elise Hammond , Tori B. Powell and Aditi Sangal , CNN
Our live coverage of the Baltimore bridge collapse has moved here .
Here's what you should know about the Key Bridge collapse
From CNN staff
Officials recovered the bodies of two construction workers who were on Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge when it collapsed early Tuesday morning after a 984-foot-long cargo ship collided into a pillar.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore called the collapse Wednesday " a global crisis ."
"The national economy and the world's economy depends on the Port of Baltimore. The port handles more cars and more farm equipment than any other port in the country," Moore said.
Here's what you should know:
- The victims: The six people who are presumed dead were from Mexico Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, according to Col. Roland L. Butler Jr, the superintendent of Maryland State Police. Two bodies were recovered and have been identified as Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes from Mexico and Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera from Guatemala. The two workers were filling potholes on the bridge and were later found trapped in a red pickup truck in about 25 feet of water, Butler said. The FBI is handling notifying the victims' families, Butler said.
- Recovery efforts: Authorities are pausing search efforts for the four other workers who are presumed dead, because additional vehicles are encased in concrete and other debris, making it unsafe for divers, Butler said. Once salvage operations clear the debris, divers will search for more remains, he said.
- The investigation: The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the fatal incident, according to the agency's chair Jennifer Homendy. During a Wednesday news conference, Homendy said there were 21 crew members and two pilots on board the Dali cargo ship when it crashed into the bridge. She also said a senior NTSB hazmat investigator identified 56 containers of hazardous material, and that some containers are in the water. The agency received six hours of voyage data from the ship and the investigation could take 12 to 24 months to complete, Homendy said. She emphasized that NTSB will not analyze information collected or provide conclusions while on scene of the collapse.
- Looking forward: Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said rebuilding the bridge will not be "quick or easy" but that it will get done. He said there are four main focus points ahead: reopening the port, dealing with supply chain issues until its reopening, rebuilding the bridge and dealing with traffic issues until the bridge is rebuilt. Biden pledged the full support of the federal government in the response and recovery efforts. His administration has already conveyed a sense of urgency to open up federal funding to remove debris and ultimately rebuild the bridge. Maryland has submitted a request to the Biden administration for emergency relief funds "to assist in our work going forward," Moore said Wednesday.
It's almost impossible to place people on the bow of ship due to the unstable structure, fire official says
From CNN's Sarah Engel
Baltimore City Fire Chief James Wallace said Wednesday that the cargo ship's bridge structure and containers at the bow remain unstable.
"It's going to be very difficult, if not impossible, and very dangerous, to place people on the bow of that boat right now," Wallace told CNN's Kaitlan Collins.
"Naturally, we're still very cognizant of the fact that there are hazardous materials on board the vessel itself," Wallace said, alluding to the National Transportation Safety Board saying earlier that 56 containers were carrying hazardous materials.
Wallace said his team is relying heavily on aerial recognizance, including drones. "That's the only way we're able to see in," he said.
He added that the aerial surveillance has "been able to really assure us right now we have no [chemical] reactions on board."
"It's just utter devastation," NTSB chief says of the bridge collapse site
From CNN's Aditi Sangal
Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, called the site of the Key Bridge collapse "devastating."
"It's pretty devastating, certainly, seeing not just what's going on with the cargo containers, but just looking at what was a bridge span — three bridge spans that is pretty much gone. It's just utter devastation," she said at Wednesday evening's news briefing.
She added that she is thinking of families who lost loved ones and those who are waiting to reunite with their lived ones.
NTSB interviewed the Dali's captain and some other crew members today, agency chief says
The National Transportation Safety Board has interviewed the ship's captain, his mate, the chief engineer and one other engineer today, according to Chair Jennifer Homendy.
The two pilots on board the Dali at the time of collision will be interviewed tomorrow, she added.
Cargo ship's voyage data recorder is basic when compared to an airplane's, NTSB chair says
From CNN's Tori B. Powell
The voyage data recorder on the cargo ship Dali was a "newer model" but is considered basic when compared to that on an airplane, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.
"But it is very basic compared to say, a flight data recorder, where we would have 1,000 parameters," she said at a news conference on Wednesday.
The NTSB chief investigator Marcel Muise added:
"It's not a ship-wide system recorder, so most of the sensors that are being recorded are from the bridge. So things like GPS, the audio, rudder feedback, rudder commands are recorded on there. But not engineering, the temperature of each cylinder, power distribution sensors."
There were no tug boats with Dali at the time of the collision. That's normal, NTSB chief says
There were no tugs with Dali when the cargo vessel collided with Baltimore's Key Bridge, which is normal protocol, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.
Remember: At 01:26:39 on Tuesday, Dali's pilot made a general very high frequency (VHF) radio call for tugs in the vicinity to assist, the NTSB investigator Marcel Muise had said.
"The tugs help the vessel leave the dock, leave the port and get into the main ship channel. And then they leave. Once it's on its way, it's a straight shot through the channel. So there are no tugs with the vessel at the time. So they were calling for tugs," she said.
NTSB chair says she saw some containers that were carrying hazardous materials in the water
National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy said she did see some of the 56 containers that were carrying hazardous materials in the water.
When asked how many
When asked how many containers of hazardous materials were in the water, Homendy said:
"I did see some containers in the water, and some breached significantly on the vessel itself," she said. "I don't have an exact number, but it's something that we can provide in an update."
Homendy said that a preliminary report should be out in two to four weeks.
This post has been updated with more quotes from Homendy.
Bridge did not have any redundancy, unlike the preferred method for building bridges today, NTSB chair says
Baltimore's Key Bridge did not have any redundancy, which is included in the preferred method of building bridges in the present day, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.
"The bridge is a fracture critical," she explained. "What that means is if a member fails that would likely cause a portion of, or the entire bridge, to collapse, there's no redundancy. The preferred method for building bridges today is that there is redundancy built in, whether that's transmitting loads to another member or some sort of structural redundancy. This bridge did not have redundancy," Homendy said.
There are 17,468 fracture critical bridges in the United States out of 615,000 bridges total, she said, citing the Federal Highway Administration.

This Highly Anticipated Luxury Cruise Line Just Revealed Its Inaugural Itineraries — Plus a Peek Inside Its 95 Luxe Suites
In 2026, Four Seasons Yachts will sail to more than 130 destinations.
As we're just two short years from the debut of Four Seasons Yachts , it's time to take a look at where the first ship in the fleet will be sailing — and it's a dazzling collection of more than 130 destinations throughout the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
From January to March 2026, the first Four Seasons Yacht will sail the Caribbean, visiting such islands as St. Barts, Nevis, the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Curaçao and Aruba. Afterward, it'll make the transatlantic journey to the Mediterranean, traveling through the Greek Isles, the Italian Riviera, and the Adriatic, among other destinations. Each itinerary in both regions can be combined with overland extensions at Four Seasons hotels.
But Four Seasons Yachts hasn't only announced its inaugural itineraries; it's provided a sneak peek inside the first ship's 95 suites, too. Interiors are a collaboration between Tillberg Design of Sweden and Four Seasons Yachts creative director Prosper Assouline.
"Our goal was to craft an environment that feels both familiar and extraordinary, with warm hues and open designs. We are creating an inviting, welcoming environment that reflects the same feeling one experiences at a Four Seasons hotel or resort," Fredrik Johannson, partner and executive director of Tillberg Design of Sweden, said in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure . “At the same time, we are designing a look and feel that is unique to this project, creating an elegant yet simple interior that stands out on its own, while blending beautifully with the majestic seas that will surround it.”
The suites are enormous, offering 50 percent more living space than any other ship at sea. They'll each feature floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces to give guests sweeping sea and landscape views, wherever they are in the world.
Perhaps most uniquely, the adjoining suites on the ship have modular walls that allow for more than 100 connection options, creating versatile living arrangements for guests' needs. For example, you could combine the entire side of a deck to create a 13,000-square-foot palatial accommodation at sea.
“We are excited to showcase the breathtaking destinations and world-class design awaiting guests aboard Four Seasons Yachts as we approach our inaugural season in 2026,” Alejandro Reynal, Four Seasons president and CEO, said in a statement provided to T+L. “At Four Seasons, guest-centricity has always been the foundation of our luxury service offering and our exceptional Yacht will extend this approach to the seas."
Rates start at $19,900 per suite for a seven-night sailing; bookings are not yet open, but you can register your interest at fourseasonsyachts.com .
