Trappola sullo yacht «Così presero Felice nel mare di Capri»

Il racconto di Maria Grazia Dalan, amica e complice del boss Era il 13 agosto 1993 quando la donna fu arrestata con lui

PADOVA. «Freddo, calcolatore. Ma allo stesso tempo timido e riservato. Ecco com’era Felice Maniero in privato». Parla per la prima volta una delle donne che è stata più vicina al boss della Mala del Brenta. Maria Grazia Dalan era in vacanza con «Faccia d'angelo» quando lo arrestarono a Capri, ormai vent'anni fa. Era a bordo del Lucy, la barca di 18 metri che portava il nome di mamma Lucia, quando il figlio del boss, Alessandro Maniero, arrivò urlando: «Hanno arrestato papà». È il 13 agosto 1993 ed è la data che segna l'inizio della fine della parabola criminale del capo indiscusso della Mala del Brenta.

Maria Grazia Dalan, residente a Cadoneghe, ha finito di scontare una condanna a cinque anni di reclusione per associazione a delinquere di stampo mafioso (accusa scattata dopo il «pentimento» del boss). Dal 1988 è la compagna di Salvatore Trosa, braccio destro e consigliere di Maniero, da 17 anni rinchiuso in carcere a Prato. La donna, che per gli investigatori della Distrettuale Antimafia aveva partecipato «alla vita dell'organizzazione, sostituendosi al compagno quando questi non è stato in grado di occuparsi personalmente dei traffici illeciti», racconta per la prima volta i retroscena dell’arresto durante la vacanza a Capri (di cui pubblichiamo due foto inedite), fornendo così uno spaccato della vita privata del boss della Mala del Brenta, visto con gli occhi di una delle donne che meglio lo hanno conosciuto.

Un mese e mezzo prima di essere arrestato, Maniero, accompagnato proprio da Salvatore Trosa, aveva fatto un viaggio in Sud America. Da Ginevra, dove aveva utilizzato un passaporto falso con l'identità di Giovanni Bellavia, aveva preso un aereo per Caracas, in Venezuela, per poi raggiungere Bogotà in Colombia. Qui si era accordato per l'acquisto di una partita di 300 chili di cocaina, che sarebbe arrivata prima in Jugoslavia, e da lì in Italia grazie alla complicità di funzionari jugoslavi corrotti.

Come è nata l'idea di quella vacanza, che è costata l'arresto di Maniero?

«Felice doveva andare in Croazia per seguire i suoi affari. La barca era stata comprata a giugno nei cantieri navali di Ostia. Il Lucy era stato acquistato in contanti per un miliardo e 180 milioni delle vecchie lire. Proprio perché sapevamo di essere a rischio, Felice aveva deciso di farsi chiamare da tutti, sempre, con un altro nome. Proposi Chicco e così lo chiamammo per tutta la vacanza».

Cosa ricorda di quel giorno di quasi vent'anni fa?

«Tutto. Il piccolo Alessandro che ha visto l'arresto del padre. Salvatore che mi dice di fare immediatamente i bagagli. Il poliziotto, con la pistola in mano, che mi fa alzare le mani. Felice sentiva il fiato sul collo degli investigatori, sapeva che stavano chiudendo il cerchio. Per questo, con Salvatore, eravamo arrivati a Capri un’ora prima di lui e di Marta, la sua compagna, che erano rimasti a Napoli. Dovevamo verificare che non ci fossero problemi. Il sostituto commissario Michele Festa però si era nascosto bene. E quando Felice è arrivato l'hanno preso. Poi è successa anche una cosa strana. Ci hanno chiusi tutti insieme all'interno della barca, per aspettare l'arrivo delle telecamere e fare la passerella con Felice in manette. Mi chiedo: avete appena arrestato il capo della Mala del Brenta e lo lasciate da solo a parlare con Salvatore, il suo braccio destro?».

Perché Maniero, che sapeva di essere braccato, ha commesso la leggerezza di chiamare lo yacht con il nome della madre, Lucia?

«In realtà non siamo stati noi a commettere errori. Se Festa l'avessi visto anche una sola volta in precedenza, l'avrei immediatamente riconosciuto. Infatti mi disse: «Avevo paura che mi sgamassi». E una volta disse ad uno degli arrestati: «Se foste stati tutti come Mami (il soprannome dato da Maniero alla Dalan, ndr ) non vi avremmo mai preso». A tradirsi era stato uno della banda che aveva parlato con un poliziotto infiltrato».

Come ha conosciuto Felice Maniero?

«Tramite il mio compagno. Salvatore Trosa una sera venne a cena nel ristorante dove lavoravo. Era il 1988. In quel periodo Salvatore era un po’ in disgrazia all'interno dell'organizzazione a causa del vizio del gioco. Ma quando Maniero seppe che frequentava me, una ragazza che lavorava, tornò nuovamente a fidarsi di lui che divenne il suo braccio destro. Una sera andammo a casa di Felice a Campolongo. Sapevo chi era e immaginavo di incontrare un uomo grande e grosso. Quando me lo trovai davanti gli dissi: «Tu saresti il capo? Ma se te dago un soffion cadi par ter a». Nella stanza calò il gelo. Salvatore mi disse «come ti permetti». Felice scoppiò a ridere: «Lasciala stare. Sei fortunato ad avere una donna che ha il coraggio di dire ciò che pensa»».

In molti si sono occupati di Felice Maniero: un paio di mesi fa è stata trasmessa anche una fiction per Sky. Ne è sempre uscito il ritratto di un gangster amante della bella vita. È Così?

«Ho letto una quantità infinita di monae . La verità è che Felice ha un carisma particolare, è un trascinatore. Non so chi abbia inventato la definizione di “Faccia d'angelo", ma è perfetta. Da un lato è un freddo calcolatore, deciso, che si prende qualsiasi cosa gli serva. Nel privato, nell'intimo, era una persona perfino semplice. So che sarà difficile crederci ma a tratti anche timido. La sera, se aveva freddo, si metteva addosso la copertina. Se gli si faceva la battuta che non si aspettava, diventava anche rosso».

E la villa faraonica, lo yacht e il lusso?

«Felice è un amante delle cose belle. Ma ci sono state esagerazioni, messe in giro da lui che, con grande abilità, ha sempre preso in giro tutti. Nella villa di Campolongo c'erano tappeti e mobili di valore. Ma molti rubinetti, che si diceva fossero in oro, avevano invece il calcare. La barca effettivamente era lussuosa: 18 metri e tre piani. Una mattina però eravamo al porto di Napoli. Io e Felice ci svegliammo molto presto e, di fianco a noi, aveva attraccato una barca inglese di cinque piani. Sembrava un transatlantico. Dissi a Maniero che la nostra, al confronto, era una bagnarola. Si fece una gran risata».

Allo stesso tempo Maniero era un feroce criminale, che ha ordinato omicidi e commesso sanguinose rapine.

«Io ho conosciuto soprattutto un altro Felice, la faccia d'angelo».

Lei, come tutti gli altri della Mala del Brenta, è stata condannata ed è stata in carcere a causa della decisione di Maniero di collaborare con la giustizia. Alcuni gli vogliono fare la pelle per questo. Lei prova ancora rancore nei suoi confronti?

«È stata una scelta obbligata, altrimenti avrebbe trascorso il resto della sua vita in carcere. Non gli perdono però una cosa: mi ha messo in mezzo in una questione di droga nella quale non c'entravo. Se oggi me lo trovassi davanti gli chiederei solo questo. Perché l'hai fatto».

Quando è stata l'ultima volta che ha visto Maniero?

«Davanti al cimitero di Campolongo, dopo l'evasione dal carcere di Padova, per la quale è ancora in debito con me. Ma questa è un'altra storia».

37m Tecnomar motor yacht Lucy sold

The 36.6-metre motor yacht Lucy has been sold with Carmen Lau and Maël Fiolet of Camper & Nicholsons representing the seller. The buying broker wished to remain anonymous.

Newly delivered from Italian builder Tecnomar in May 2022, the aluminium Evo 120 model was designed by Nuovi Cantieri Apuania .

Lucy accommodates up to nine guests in four cabins, all on the lower deck, as well as a crew of five. Having the full-beam master suite – along with guest twin and VIP double – on the lower deck freed up space for the galley to be positioned forward on the main deck, just ahead of the large dining room sporting a circular table. A sauna and massage room is positioned adjacent to the cabins.

On the main deck, the external lounging area, adjoining the saloon, is conveniently equipped with a bar and dining table. This deck enjoys good people flow, right through to the dining room, as well as having two day heads. The broker said: " Lucy  has a delicate, yet bold colour palette, and boasts completely custom furniture, inspired by automotive design."

The exterior lines are also influenced by automotive design and the sweeping profile is quite distinctive.

The 276GT yacht has a cruising speed of 16 knots and a top speed of 20 knots, under twin 1,920hp MTU engines, with a range of 1,400 nautical miles at 10 knots. She is RINA classed.

Lucy was last asking €10,980,000.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
