Facilities: CBYC’s spacious Clubhouse overlooks their 180 + slip marina. The second floor offers a dining/meeting room, a large member bar, and a wraparound terrace which is available for private events and overlooks the west channel and marina. Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club’s new dry storage facility holds 140 boats in a mast-up area. There are two hoists for up to 6,000 lbs. and a floating launch ramp. CBYC’s Clubhouse is open Wednesday through Sunday with bar hours in the evenings. Slips and Guest Dock available, reciprocity includes two nights free. Call Marina Manager for information.

Membership: CBYC offers activities for power & sail boat owners, as well as social members. An extensive year-round Junior Sailing Program is led by Certified Sailing Instructors. Please contact the Clubhouse for more information regarding membership and junior sailing opportunities.

Comments: Located on the lee side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and overlooking LA Harbor, CBYC has grown steadily since its start in 1932. The Club’s objective is to organize, promote and sponsor yachting and yacht racing in and about the waters of Southern California.

At the Cabrillo Beach Youth Sailing Foundation, we are passionate about sailing and want to share this love with others. That’s why we have established a simple mission: to promote and encourage the enjoyment of sailing for all.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the thrill of being out on the water, which is why we offer scholarship grants to help individuals who may face financial barriers.

By qualifying for one of these grants, you can receive financial assistance that will allow you to participate in one of our sailing programs, no matter your background or circumstances. Join us as we work to make sailing accessible to all and create a community of passionate sailors.

Make a difference

With the help of our generous donors like you, many of our youth discover this sport through our scholarship program and have life changing experiences.

We accept donations in the form of cash, checks, stocks, equipment immediately usable in the program, as well as larger vessels which can be used for STEM programs.

What is the process of obtaining a slip?

Here are the following items we require (this may vary):

• Current Insurance
• Current Registration/ Documentation/ Bill of Sale (additional documents might be required)
• Recent photo of the vessel
• Photocopy ID
• Credit Check
• Vessel Inspections are scheduled only after ALL documents are submitted and approved by management. All boats that enter the marina must be inspected.

Can I visit the marina for a couple of nights?

Yes! We accept guest stays with a maximum of 90 days. Feel free to call for more information and pricing.

Do you have liveaboard status available?

Unfortunately, at this moment we are all full for the liveaboard capacity allowed, and there is a currently a 5-6 year waitlist. We are glad to add you onto the list if you wish.

Awesome people!!! Beautiful marina!!! We are the local Dive Service, so we have lots of insight into the marina from different perspectives, and we LOVE Cabrillo Way Marina. Everyone on staff is so friendly and professional. If you are considering a slip in the marina, we can confidently say we recommend them!

We have been a liveaboard at CWM for the past 4 yrs. The staff had always been the absolute best, helpful always, friendly always. The facilities are always clean and secure. Truly hated to leave all the friends we have made.

During summer there are boats from Kazan , Samara and other destinations on the Volga River.

By train [ edit ]

The train takes you here from Moscow (from Kazanskaya train station) in approximately 16 hours or from Volgograd in about 20 hours. Ulyanovsk Main Station is located 6 km from the city center.

Get around [ edit ]

Ulyanovsk has an extensive public transportation network that includes buses, trolleys, and trams. It is very affordable, but congested and may be quite confusing. You won't find any route maps or schedules, neither at bus stops nor in buses. Fee collectors usually don't speak English. Express buses and semi-private van routes are more comfortable and more expensive. Taxis are not expensive, and that's your best bet if you want to get somewhere (relatively) quickly, in (relative) comfort (almost all cars are old Russian ladas or over 10 year old non-Russian cars), and without much hassle. They are also most likely to have English speaking drivers (one in 1000) and superloud Russian pop music.

Getting between the banks of the Volga is a problem. There is a two lane bridge connecting the banks and it's nearly always congested, so if you're unlucky, it can take a couple of hours. Most locals avoid going over the bridge if they can. A four-lane bridge was planned to relieve these problems.

As the home town of Lenin, it's worth visiting the Lenin Memorial Centre and Gardens and museums based in his former houses. There is also a museum dedicated to the poet 'Goncharov' and the war memorial at the end of the main street 'Ulitsa Goncharova' offers breathtaking views over the Volga.

In winter, try cross-country skiing along the Sviaga river, in summer take a boat ride over the reservoir.

The city's main shopping centre 'Tsum' is basic to say the least but does offer some basic shopping.
