Solar-Powered SILENT 64 Starts Mallorca Charter

The charter season starts at the end of April in Mallorca, Spain, one of the most beautiful spots in the world, and SILENT Yachts announced that it has a SILENT 64 there for a crewed charter. The SILENT 64 is a sister ship to what the Austrian company says is the first solar-powered production yacht to cross the Atlantic.

Charters on the 64 start and end in Port Adriano, on the southwest coast of Mallorca, and offer cruises through the Balearic Islands, with beautiful bays and turquoise waters.

On the luxurious SILENT cat, you can enjoy all this without any noise or fumes from fossil-fuel engines; the yacht is powered by twin 250-kW electric motors, drawing clean energy from 42 solar panels.

The SILENT charter includes two crew, a captain and a chef, and the cat has three guest cabins, holding seven for overnight cruises or ten guests on a day charter. The beam of the eco-friendly cat is almost 30 feet, so there’s plenty of space for relaxing and socializing during a charter, no matter how many people are on board.

The upper sundeck has a dining table with seating and extra space for sunbathing. The large aft deck provides more outdoor living space, with a dining table, a sofa, and open steps down to the swim platform. It’s in three sections, one on each side and a raised central platform that’s ideal for diving into the Med’s clear blue water.

The main salon provides one large central area with a galley, dining lounge and bar, with 360-degree views all around. The master stateroom is forward on the main deck, while the two other cabins are in the port and starboard hulls. They’re all decorated in neutral colors to appeal to a wide variety of charter guests.

The SILENT 64 comes with an electric-powered tender that can hold six people and run at 4 knots for 4 hours, or at 10 knots for 1 hour. The cat’s toys include underwater scooters, paddle boards, a kayak and snorkeling gear. Read more:  http://silent-yachts.com

Silent-Yachts opens new offices

A world leader in solar-electric catamarans, Silent-Yachts has opened new offices in both Europe and USA.

Silent-Yachts has opened a new office in Port Adriano in the southwest of Mallorca, the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands and among the key yachting hubs in the Mediterranean.

A Silent 55 and Silent 64 are docked in front of the office and available for sea trials. Later this summer, the two yachts will be joined by the first Silent 60, which was built by PMG Shipyard in Thailand and features a kitewing.

Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts, said: “Our new base is like our second home. Mallorca and the Balearics in general are popular yachting destinations – sunny, warm, with clean azure seas and many amazing places that have to be visited on board a yacht.

“The new office helps us keep our solar-electric catamarans close to our clients and partners. We’re always open for a chat, visit or sea trial.”

SILENT IN FLORIDA Across the Atlantic, Silent-Yachts’ exclusive US distributor Edward Sacks has set up a branch in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“Florida is the hot spot for US yachting enthusiasts and we’re happy to take a seat in the region,” Köhler said. “The location is close to the site of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, has direct water access and a comfortable conference room for product demonstrations.”

SILENT 55 FRONT EXIT Meanwhile, the builder has delivered the seventh unit of the Silent 55, a model built in China since 2018. The new hull for a client in Switzerland is the first to feature a front saloon door offering direct access to the bow lounge, instead of a full-width master suite forward of the saloon. Four guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms are split between the port and starboard hulls.

Fitted with a pair of 250kW e-motors, a 100kW diesel generator and 210kWh lithium batteries, the new catamaran reached 18 knots during sea trials. All Silent-Yachts models can cruise up to 100nm per day relying solely on solar-electric power, without vibration, noise or exhausts. www.silent-yachts.com

Balearics expansion A new European office of Silent-Yachts is now open in Port Adriano – Mallorca, one of the leading yacht harbours in the West Med. A Silent 55 and Silent 64 are docked in front of the office, ready to take clients to the sea for a test drive. Later this summer the new Silent 60 with a kitewing will also arrive to Port Adriano. “Our new base is like our second home”, said Michael Köhler, Founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts. “Mallorca and the Balearics in general are popular yachting destinations, sunny, warm, with clean azure seas and many amazing places that have to be visited on board a yacht. Recently, a new version of the SILENT 55 solar electric catamaran was delivered to a client from Switzerland. It is the 7th unit of the model built by Silent-Yachts since 2018. This new unit has a standard configuration but with a twist: the front exit version has an extra door in the main salon that allows direct access to a concealed open lounge in the bow with a panoramic view. Therefore, the lower deck plan is different. Four guest cabins with private bathrooms are equally allocated between port and starboard sides of the boat, while the standard version features a full-width master suite in the front. As for the propulsion, the new catamaran reached 18 knots during sea trials. It’s equipped with a pair of 250 kW e-motors, a 100kW diesel generator and 210 kWh lithium batteries. Like other Silent-Yachts models, this one can sail up to 100 nautical miles per day relying solely on the solar electric power without vibration, noise or exhausts. [[30]]

Here comes the sun: Silent Yachts bring solar to sailing

Here's your next super-yacht and it's solar powered. Mallorca-based company Silent Yachts is pioneering electric yachts powered by the sun, so that not only will your Mediterranean cruising be guilt-free but you won't be woken up by a noisy engine when your crew leaves port in the early morning. Also, electric motors won't disturb your at-sea evening cocktails with an unseemly vibration. And who needs sails, anyway?

Silent Yachts is the brainchild of yachting enthusiasts Michael and Heike Köhler who calculated that on a conventional sail-equipped yacht, they were spending at least half their time at sea using noisy, polluting engines, rather than wind power. Their solution: dispense with the sails - though they are available as a popular optional extra - and mount an array of solar panels on just about every available horizontal surface. The result is efficient, quiet progress, one that mimics the sailing experience without any of the fuss and bother of actual sails or the pesky noise of a large engine.

The key to every boat that Silent Yachts manufacture is weight-saving, not least to off-set the heft of the batteries. Carbon is extensively used in construction and there's extra insulation to keep air conditioning needs down and so conserve power for the important things, like reaching Mykonos by sunset.

Top speed is an impressive 17 knots, but at that rate you'll need a fast recharge from the on-board generator, which produces a fraction of the power, and thus noise and fuel consumption, of the engine aboard a more conventional yacht. Accommodation is aimed at high end cruisers, with a variety of configurations involving al fresco dining, bathing platforms and lavishly equipped cabins - staterooms is the preferred nomenclature - for those lucky enough to be aboard.

All of this new technology doesn't come at all cheap. Expect to part with at least £1-million for a base model, spiralling rapidly upwards. This is no up-start start-up, however. The Volkswagen Group is heavily involved with the latest that Silent Yachts have to offer, with both VW powertrains and design expertise being offered on future boats. Now, where are the deck shoes?

Durable and efficient, this solar electric drivetrain boat is even powerful during unfavourable and rough weather conditions and requires minimal maintenance. The boat is in excellent condition and offers a spacious and luxurious interior.

The boat is currently located at Port Adriano on the island of Mallorca, Spain and can be visited and tested there by prior appointment.

The exterior of the Silent 64 is perfect to lounge and enjoy the calmness of the sea. The spacious deck offers many seating areas for you to host your friends and family and the two trampolines at the bow are the perfect sunbathing spot. The flybridge offers a breath-taking view of the ocean and landscape, especially if you want to admire the sunset.

Plus, the solar-propulsion provides a noiseless cruising so nothing comes to disturb your trip and you can appreciate the quiet and beauty of the ocean while also preserving it. This innovative mode of propulsion asks for virtually no maintenance and is the safest marine propulsion system.

This interior is designed with maximum natural light. The saloon is fully equipped for your summers out at sea. The helm station inside also gives a near 360 degree view or use the flybridge to improve the view even more and enjoy the wind in your hair when manoeuvring.

There is also an L shaped sofa forward with views of the bow and oncoming scenery. The galley flows into the exterior with shaded dining.

Go below deck where you will find 3 exquisite cabins with ambles of space and storage. 2 come with ensuite bathrooms to improve the experience even further.

Silent Yachts x Porsche

While we are heading towards the end of the 2021 sea trial season, a lot of exciting things have been going on at our office in Port Adriano!

During the end of September, we partnered with Porsche, one of the most iconic global brands. Together with Porsche Baleares, we set up an exclusive event in Mallorca where our guests were able to experience the best of electric mobility, both in the water and on land. Labelled as the “Electric Experience”, this fantastic event consisted of two main parts.

The first part was all about thrill and acceleration. This meant getting into the driver’s seat of the Porsche Taycan and experiencing the power of its two electric motors with a combined output of more than 500 kW. With so much adrenaline available under the right foot, it was time to carve some of Mallorca´s beautiful coastal roads, before having lunch in Port de Andratx.

The second part of the “Electric Experience” consisted of getting on board of our SILENT 55 for sea trials in the afternoon. Contrary to the morning, the ambience on board of our yachts is all about deceleration and tranquility. Cruising along the coastline of Mallorca in silence enabled our guests to connect to the beauty of the Mediterranean and enjoy the gifts of nature in a sustainable manner.

Like many great days, this one ended with a relaxing glass of wine on the SILENT-YACHTS office terrace. It has been a pleasure to experience how far technologies have developed, now offering the possibility to enjoy your favorite roads or waters with minimal impact on the environment.
