Malta is placed in the Middle of the Mediterranean Sea on the cusp of the Western Mediterranean and Eastern Mediterranean luxury yacht charter grounds. Nearby, Sicily and the Aeolian Islands have copious volcanic sites that have created unique landscapes and fertile soils that have been put to use as vineyards.

Also close by is the Amalfi Coast, with such sites as Naples and the charming clifftop town of Ravello.

Valletta on its own has plenty to fill your days: Begin your exploration of its history in the unmissable National War Museum in Fort St. Elmo - while Malta has several war museums, this is the most comprehensive and well maintained. Next door, the Knights Hospitallers is worth a look and is an atmospheric venue for events, while out in the fresh air the highly maintained Lower Barrakka Gardens give magnificent views out over the harbour. Visitors venturing into the town centre have the opportunity to enter The Grandmaster Palace Courtyard to learn more about the city's storied past. As the sun sets, discover the vibrant bar and club scene along the waterfront.

As you leave behind the crowds and spend your time in transit dining alfresco or sunbathing on the sundeck, and find a serene cove to anchor and sleep in peace surrounded by the sounds of nature.

Inland, Mdina is known for its bars and pedestrianised shopping streets, and in particular for the Silent City where there are historical treasures and a collection of Caravaggio paintings. St. Paul's Catacombs is also an incredible and worthwhile tour before your head down the southern roads to the 3200 BC ruins of Ħaġar Qim and the Blue Grotto, one of the most stunning natural sites in Malta.

The sleepy island of Gozo is a part of the Malta archipelago and is thought to be the legendary "Calypso’s Isle" of Homer’s Odyssey. It’s a peaceful, mystical backwater, with rugged landscape and spectacular coastline. Pull into rocky inlets or red sand beaches and spend hours entertaining yourself snorkelling, fishing and Scuba diving amongst some of the Mediterranean's best dive sites.

This destination is popular with older travellers who enjoy the peace and quiet, lack of modern development and retention of the old traditions. Many of the buildings are still made from natural stone instead of concrete so Gozo has an atmosphere all of its own.

Comino is a small inhabited island with only four people living there. Although there is a hotel, many visitors just come for the day to dive in the famous Blue Lagoon, leaving the rest of the island bays and beaches to your group. By kayak, paddleboard or tender, take your time amongst the Santa Maria and Julia caves to the west, where the white cliffs and topaz blue sea are perfect for adventurers and for artists and photographers to capture.

The Blue Lagoon is fairly busy from 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon, after which luxury yacht charter parties will have the place to themselves. Travel south to the natural amphitheatre of the Crystal Lagoon with its steep cliffs and glassy green water, which provides excellent seclusion for an overnight anchorage.

Yachting seasons & climate:.

Malta has an inviting year-round climate, where the winter season temperature drops to a warm average of 13°C/55°F and summer soars to a comfortable 27°C/81°F, with a high of 32°C/90°F.

From July to September the sea temperature sits around 26°C/79°F and are wonderfully warm for snorkelling, watersports and for beginner Scuba divers heading down to depths around 10m/33ft.

July is the driest month with little to no rainfall, and November through to January is the wettest season and visitors should plan their wardrobe accordingly.

Clothing to Pack For Your Charter:

Although there are some excellent beaches across the three main islands of Malta, visitors are most likely to spend their time exploring the streets of Valetta and the ruins to be found from the coast through to the interior. As such, a sturdy pair of hiking boots and a lightweight jacket is recommended, and visitors might want to include a long pair of trousers for walking along overgrown trails.

In town, smart-casual dress is typically seen for the cafes, bars and clubs as well as visiting the numerous museums, galleries and religious sites.

Best time to go:

Like most of the Mediterranean, the Malta yacht chartering season generally runs from April to the end of October. The summer season in July and August tends to have the best weather, as these are the hottest months with lighter winds. This is also the high season as far as yacht charter goes.

Other good times to charter your yacht is generally on either of the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October), each side of the main summer season, as the temperatures are still comfortable, and the onshore tourists have yet to arrive in their largest numbers.

Autumn can be a great time to visit when the sea temperatures are still warm and there is a significant amount of sunshine, however visitors should expect short sharp thunderstorms during the evenings of this season.

A Mediterranean archipelago where the West meets the East

Lying south of Sicily and to the north of Africa, the Maltese archipelago sits like a jewel in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea. Malta is the largest island of the trio and boasts the cultural heart of the archipelago, whilst Gozo and Comino are untouched and secluded.

The Republic of Malta has long been an international crossroads and lies in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea. Boasting an eventful history, few European countries are as steeped in history and culture as Malta, with beaches, ruins and picturesque cities all entwined in a concentrated area. Exploring Malta by charter yacht is an idyllic way to discover secluded bays and rugged coves and with warm crystalline waters a great way to take advantage of the best diving spots.

Remnants of Malta’s vibrant past can be found in the prehistoric ruins, beautiful baroque architecture and stunning cathedrals. When is the yachting season in Malta?

The yachting season in Malta spreads over seven months, running from early April through late October. The Spring months that are April and May, have unclouded skies and warm weather, ideal for chartering a yacht. As the temperature increases as we enter the summer months, you will have the full possibility to explore the sea gifts beneath Malta's shorelines from June to September. The winter months are unsurprisingly mild in Malta. As a Mediterranean city, Valletta and the surrounding city are summery in winter compared to the rest of the European continent. Day Charters

Enjoy a day at sea on a Private Yacht Charter with family and friends onboard one of our sailing yachts exploring crystal clear waters in the Maltese Isles.

One of our experienced and friendly skippers will meet you at the agreed pick-up point and time. They will give you a quick briefing about your day and the route you shall be taking.

The most popular route is to head up to Blue Lagoon/Crystal Lagoon in Comino and find a nice spot to anchor for a couple of hours. Here you can have a swim and some lunch before heading to another bay on the South/East side of Gozo or a secluded bay in Malta for a couple of more hours before heading back to base.

Whilst there is no set route because of so many varying factors such as wind, jellyfish and client’s requests. We always do our utmost to meet our clients expectations but the Skipper will always have the final say due to legal/safety purposes.

In certain wind directions, you might be advised to head South to sheltered bays like Hoffriet and Pretty Bay.

Day Charter Rates

Prices are inclusive of VAT, skipper and fuel.

Additional guests above 12 can be added for €75pp, up to 16 max.

Minimum charge on weekends/public holidays in High Season is €695

Yes, of course, you're welcome to bring your own food & drinks and make use of the yachts facilities.

If you prefer, we can also offer you a set menu for just €41.50 per person.

The set menu costs €41.50pp and consists of:

• Nuts • Crisps • 2 Dips • Water Crackers • Fresh Maltese Bread • Cheese Platter • Tuna Salad • Fresh Fruit • Coke • Water • 2 Pints Beer per person • Half a bottle of Wine per person

(Please note due to the nature of our business, sea and wind, even though over 90% of our bookings are picked up on time, when requesting pick up from an alternate location please allow 30 mins leeway, additional time will be added after to compensate)

Yes, of course. Any hours after the standard drop off time will be charged at €75 per hour (when prebooked).

Ideally, it's best to let us know when you're booking to make sure we send a skipper who will also be available to stay later on the day.

If requested on the day, it's subject to availability.

Yes, all yachts come with a CD/Radio. You can also connect your own music players via USB or AUX cable. (jack to jack)

All deposits are non-refundable except for heavy seas and wind of force 5 and over for sailboats and catamarans and force 4 for RIBs

Cloudy weather and summer rain is not considered as bad weather.

Due to the nature of our business and the weather being out of our control, we can not guarantee any particular routes on your charter day. 

We may offer alternative pick up/drop off points for free.

There's nothing like cooking your own food at sea on one of our gas BBQs. Add one when booking for just €41.50

Save the hassle of preparing your food and drinks. Just turn up and find everything onboard ready to go for just €41.50 per person.

Paddleboard

Looking for some extra fun on your charter? Then include a paddleboard when booking for just €25 for the day.

Extra Hours

Want to stay later than the standard drop off time? Maybe catch sunset? Extra hours can be prebooked for €75 per hour.

Malta: The New Small Commercial Yacht Code 2024 (SCYC) And Related Updates

On 1st April 2024, the Small Commercial Yacht Code 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the “sCYC”) entered into force following its introduction earlier in the year by means of Commercial Yachting Notice 12 released by the Merchant Shipping Directorate (“MSD”) on 20th March 2024. This is a comprehensive and specialized code that has been drafted in collaboration with stakeholders within the yachting industry and seeks to better serve the ever-evolving needs, demands, and technological advancements of the smaller commercial yachts that register under the Malta flag, whilst conforming with international safety regulations and standards.

This tailor-made code supersedes and replaces the relevant provisions of the Commercial Yacht Code 2020 (the “CYC”) as far as small commercial yachts are concerned and applies exclusively to commercial yachts with hull lengths LH (ISO 8666) of 12 metres up to 24 metres Length Art 2(8), involved in commercial activities, and which carry no more than 12 passengers. This means that yachts from 12 metres, which previously fell outside the scope of the CYC, may now also be registered commercially under the Malta flag.

With the coming into force of the sCYC, commercial yachts currently certified under the CYC, having lengths less than 24 metres Length Art. 2(8), are to begin their survey and certification process in accordance with the sCYC by no later than their first renewal survey conducted on or after 1st June 2024. Information regarding the transition from CYC to sCYC certification may be found in the Survey and Certification section of this new code.

Upon successful completion of the specified surveys and inspections in terms of the sCYC, a yacht compliant with its standards and requirements will be issued with a Small Commercial Yacht Certificate by the Registrar-General of Shipping and Seamen (the “Administration”). Just like the CYC, it is recommended that pleasure yachts of under 24 metres voluntarily comply as far as practicable with the standards set out in the sCYC, and upon request, the Administration may also issue a Statement of Compliance with the sCYC.

Commercial yachts certified per the sCYC are to be granted navigation notations that include Operational areas, i.e. coastal within 20 nautical miles (nm) from a shore, short range within 60nm from a safe haven, extended short range within 150 nm from a safe haven and unrestricted navigation with no distance limitations, with weather and radio coverage limitations and requirements. Varying minimum safe manning scales and seafarer qualifications and certification apply accordingly. Likewise, the code outlines the safety standards, requirements for pollution prevention and crew welfare that are appropriate given the size of a yacht and navigation notation whilst taking into consideration the applicable International Conventions, European Regulations/ Directives and relative industry standards.

Additionally, following the release of the sCYC, the MSD also issued a standard request form (applicable to yachts falling under the sCYC) for Crew Authorisation Attestations that may be required by certain Port Authorities in order to grant commercial yachts charter licences, pursuant to Section 16.12 of the sCYC. The form is to be submitted to the MSD yachting section together with support documentation by Recognised Organisations or by Appointed Government Surveyors or by the yacht's Maltese Legal Representative. Furthermore, in conjunction with the introduction of the sCYC, the MSD released revised Commercial Yachts Extended Range Tender Guidelines (Revision 2), which revision came into effect as from 1st April 2024 and which replaced the previous Revision 1. The requirements laid out therein are to be applied together with the requirements outlined in Section 22 of the CYC, as amended and Section 19 of the sCYC as amended. The guidelines are only applicable to Malta flag commercial yachts' tenders that are 24m and under length of hull and which fall under the registration certificate of the Mother Yacht. Such Extended Range Yacht Tenders are in fact, to be engaged solely and exclusively in the business of the Mother Yacht. The guidelines elaborate on general requirements, as minimum equipment and insurance coverage as well as survey and certification rules.
