Boat Rentals

Boat rentals are most welcome from the Growcery Camp. Those travellers that seek to explore and venture into the immediate surroundings are welcome to explore our Boat Rental. We offer inflatable rafts and sit on top kayaks. The boat rentals are a daily activity fee. Our Boats are perfect for a maximum of two people at a time.

The boat rentals are valid for a full day, from sunrise to sunset. All boats need to be returned to the reception after the day's boat rental have expired.

• Two Person Inflatable Rafts. 

Our sit on top kayaks are a fluid brand and suitable for all paddlers with no experience. The kayaks are durable and steady and made of durable plastic. These kayaks are easy to control and offer a safe paddle on suitable rivers. The kayaks have containers for personals. However, they are not waterproof. We do recommend that you make use of dry bags for individuals.

Our Two-man inflatable rafts are ARK – African River Krafts and are the best SABS quality rafting equipment on offer in South Africa. We include a hand pump and life jackets with boat rentals.

The Growcery camp's immediate surroundings allow novices and fishing enthusiasts to explore on their own time. We do recommend that you book your boat rentals upon arrival at the Camp. Few things in life feel better than being on a kayak or inflatable raft. Take your time in the morning and paddle a stretch of the Orange River. The area in front of The Growcery Camp is perfect for paddling without any experience. You have about a 5 km stretch where you can free paddle and seize the day! Our New kayak rentals are popular and allow for easy paddling and navigation on the Orange River.

Visit The Growcery Camp this season and explore the wild side of the Richtersveld with a boat from Camp.

The vaal river,  self-drive, fully equipped, welcome to sunset houseboats.

Be the Captain of your holiday in one of our luxurious, fully equipped, self-drive houseboats and gently cruise along the Vaal River. A romantic holiday for 2 or a getaway for the family, enjoy the beautiful sunsets and scenery only an hour from Johannesburg.

luxurious Houseboats

The luxurious houseboat comfortably sleeps 4 adults or a family of 5 with 2 queen size beds on board. It has a separate bedroom with queen size bed and plenty of cupboards to pack your things. The other queen size bed folds down into a section of the lounge.

The comfortable lounge is equipped with a TV that has a wide variety of both adult and kids movies. There is also a variety of board games for both adults and kids for your entertainment.

Guests should enjoy themselves

The guests are given an extensive tutorial on how to operate the boat and are supplied with an interim skippers license (for the duration of their stay), after which they are in charge of their destination and will only return should they require something extra or at the end of their stay.

We expect our guests to have fun and enjoy themselves but to have respect for the things we provide so that other people may also have the privilege of using them. There is no smoking permitted inside the houseboat only outside on the patio or top deck.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery and crockery for 6 people. It is fitted with a 2-plate gas hob and a 150Lt fridge/freezer combo. There is a gas braai on the front patio and even a potjie pot on board and with all the utensils you can russell up a meal fit for a king.

The upper-deck of the houseboat has a large table with seats as well as 2 sun loungers. This is the perfect spot "catch a tan" or to enjoy the beautiful sunsets that the Vaal River boasts. The boat comes with pool noodles to float and relax in the water on a hot day and if you are keen to eat out, there are plenty of restaurants and river side pubs to visit.

The bathroom is fitted with a standard household toilet, a spacious shower and enough bath towels for the guests on board.

Self-catering

This is a self-catering houseboat, you need to bring your own food and of course your clothes. You would also need to bring your own swimming towels as these are not supplied.

The below rates do not include the refundable R1000 security deposit, or the fuel costs. The boat is supplied with a full tank (88Lt) of fuel. On return of the boat, the fuel usage is calculated and charged accordingly. Fuel is charged at the current petrol price + 10%.

Booking Cancellations

• We regret that we cannot make exemptions for personal emergencies, rainy weather or any other reason whatsoever as a cause for cancellation.
• The following applies, unless item "Bad Weather" of these terms and conditions are applicable, in which case the booking will either be rescheduled or refunded"

Bookings in Low or High season (excluding long weekends)

Notify us of your cancellation within 14 days of your date of charter. Your rental fee less 30% will be refunded. Cancellations received less than 14 days in advance are subject to forfeiture of deposit.

Bookings in Peak season, Easter and all other long weekends during the year

Notify us of your cancellation within one month before date of charter. Your rental fee less 30% will be refunded. Cancellations received less than one month in advance are subject to forfeiture of deposit. Once a refund has been paid, the booking is considered to be cancelled, and the Lessee has no claim to reinstate the booking or to any further refunds.

Changing dates of booking

The booking dates will only be changed if another Lessee is found to take over the dates of the existing booking. If such a Lessee is not found, the normal cancellation terms apply. An admin charge of R100 will be levied to change booking dates. Any changes in rates, be it because the booking is in a different season (Low, High or Peak season), or rate increases due to yearly price adjustments, will be applicable to the new booking dates. Any balance outstanding as a result of these changes, is payable prior to departure.

Non-Arrival  

Non-arrivals are liable for the full hire fee. If the Lessee does not arrive at our premises in good time and fails to let us know that he/she will be late, we may place the boat for re-let.

Infanta 5.2 (Bravo)

Infanta Bravo is a 5.2 infanta powered by a 90HP Yamaha motor. She is a great all rounder boat good for fishing and skiing.

Panache Alpha

Panache Alpha is a Panache 1850 LX fitted with a 200hp Yamaha HPDI fuel injected two stroke motor, making it very powerful but also economical. She is a luxury skiing boat with a wakeboard tower and can carry up to 8 people.

Explorer 510

The Explorer 510 is great cruising, fishing or skiing boat. The ultimate all rounder. She has a wet deck and powered by a 115HP Yamaha motor.

Panache Bravo

Panache Bravo is a Panache 1850 LX fitted with a powerfull 200HP Yamaha VMAX motor. She is a luxury skiing and cruising boat perfect for adventures on the water. She can carry up to 8 poeple.

No skippers required for this 4.1m Heart Craft boat. Powered by a 15HP Yamaha motor. She is light, easy to drive and has ample space for 5 people to explore the estuaries.

Falcon 5.2m is powered by a 90HP Honda Fourstroke motor. She is a great all rounder boat good for fishing and skiing. Very economical.

Celebrity 170

The Celebrity 170 is a 5,2m pleasure craft. The Celebrity 170 is designed with water skiing, tubing, wakeboarding and general family boating in mind. The hull is filled with over 30% foam flotation, to meet the local inland, and protected waters requirements. She offers fantastic handling, great use of space, easy to tow, and is powered by a 130HP Yamaha outboard.
