Princess 40M

The Princess 40M super yacht, launched in 2012, had the largest resin-infused hull moulded at its time. The accommodation throughout this luxurious yacht is sumptuous, with a five cabin layout for up to 12 guests, with space for up to 7 crew members in complete privacy. The largest of the M Class, this super yacht exudes elegance and style in every detail with personalisation options in abundance and incredible sea-keeping. Power comes from twin MTUs giving a top speed of 23 knots. Cruising speed is around 12 to 14 knots, which gives the boat a fuel consumption rate of 250 to 300 litres per hour and a range of 1,500 miles.

Princess 35M

Following on from the global success of the 40M, a new addition entered the M Class series in 2014 in the form of the Princess 35M . She was a semi-custom superyacht capable of cruising at both high and low speeds with an impressive long range and outstanding efficiency. Her expansive deck areas and comfortable, spacious accommodation offered an opportunity to own a superyacht of grand stature without pushing to the 40M. The 35M explored and challenged the Princess design studio, and the result is something quite spectacular – panoramic windows, clean vast spaces and beautifully luxurious materials.

The latest model to be added to the M Class family of superyachts in 2016 was the Princess 30M , a super yacht built for charter, exploration and quality family time. The 30M offers up to five double en suite cabins including a main deck master suite, depending on the configuration chosen by the owner. The modernised composite build technology by Princess Yachts has allowed the 30M to uncover leading interior volume, optimum cruising efficiency and the respective weight-saving advantages to be able to reach up to 30 knots. High class engineering and premium design come together in this luxurious M Class model.

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V2000M94) 2,637hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 17 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 27 knots with a range of up to 1,200 nautical miles from her 14,500 litre fuel tanks at 10 knots. Her water tanks store around 2,010 Litres of fresh water.

Pricing: €90,000/ per week + VAT + APA

The charter fee generally covers only the hire of the yacht and crew, all other expenses are in addition to the charter fee. These additional expenses are covered by the Advance Provisioning Allowance.The APA is usually 30% of the charter fee (sometimes 35% if the yacht burns a lot of fuel or if you intend to do more than about 4 hours of cruising per day).The APA covers the cost of fuel, food, wines and liquors, dockage, communications, etc. Any APA not used will be returned to you at the end of the charter as you leave. On the other hand, if expenses exceed the APA (maybe excessive cruising so high fuel costs, requests of rare liquors, etc.) you will be expected to reimburse the yacht as you leave the charter. This is rare but you need to be aware of this possible expense.

A result of very particular and close collaboration between the Princess Yacht design studio, and multiple award winning M Class superyacht division, this Princess 30M is arguably as stunning and beautiful in her design and interior styling as she is technically specified with the greatest attention to detail and the renown Princess Yacht uncompromising and reputable quality.

It is hard not to appreciate and be amazed by the level of details and bespoke customization on this yacht which make her a truly outstanding and unique. Her one-off interior wood furniture is from the highest of the exclusive superyacht Macassar Ebony collection in the piano-gloss finish. This forms a luxurious and elegant base to an exquisite mix of precious materials and stone throughout this superyacht with the finest Onyx, marbles, burred wood, wenge wood, specially sourced finest leather and fabrics, all of which elevates the feeling of luxury, prestige and exclusiveness further throughout the yacht which is already recognized as one of the best designed 30M superyacht in its class with large panaromic windows throughout allowing for plenty of natural lighting (especially in the main deck saloon and full beam master suite forward and cabins in the lower accommodation) and a layout that both makes entertaining and socializing with guests as equally enjoyable and relaxing with friends and family members in complete privacy, comfort, and safety.

The main deck saloon is spacious and airy, with a private side balcony/terrace that can be open and closed. The mid ship dining area has a specially designed table that accommodate 10 people which can be extended to 12-14 if needed be, with stunning back-lit and color changing golden spider Onyx that is specially sourced from Italy to match the yacht interior theme. This is served by the adjoining full size galley that has a very convenient side door that operates on an automatic function. Either side of the dining area are beautifully finished bars and counter units which has dedicated storage for the yacht crystal set of glasses, cutleries, finest china, and accessories. These counter are also finished in matching golden onyx and complimented further by bespoke Burred walnut panels, and topped by specially sourced Crocodile leather. An identical unit is replicated towards the aft end of the saloon but with a discrete 55”TV on an up-down mechanism that can also twist and turn for viewing from all direction especially in the main sofa as well as the aft cockpit area. Furthermore, at a press of a button, the ceiling panels reveal a specially installed 86” screen in front of the dining bulkhead with another retracted projector allowing guests to enjoy an array of entertainment on virtual reality, or simply the occasional singings and movies entertainment!

The Princess 30M has always had one of the best master suite on the main deck at the forward area with amazing space, natural lighting, for both comfort and privacy. She is also beautifully finished with white Onyx counter tops and throughout the bathroom. Indeed this theme of luxurious fittings and the usage of most premium exquisite materials are repeated throughout the rest of the 4 cabin in the lower accommodation which is accessed via a central stairway that is very comfortable. The lower aft “VIP Suite” has an adjoining partition which when open can create a huge full beam suite with one large bed and a sofa-seating area in the adjoining room, which can be used for relaxing, entertainment room, or children room if needed be. Once closed, this is then separated into two rooms and the sofa can be converted into a full size bed, and each with its own luxuriously fitted bathroom with Ivory Grey Onyx (with a carefully designed Cross cut Eramosa onyx) which compliments the white (Lasso Bianco) marble flooring which is also used in the bulkhead instead of the standard wood furniture on other Princess 30M also. Further forward there are two more cabins on the port and starboard, both of which can be made as a double bed or separate twin by a sliding function, as well as additional pullman berth. The bathrooms are yet again beautifully finished with beautiful marble, onyx and special details.

Up on the flybridge this yacht really shows how she can really entertain a large group in style and comfort. She features a large circular dining table that accommodate 10-12 people comfortably under the shade, while her aft seating area is similar to that of the Princess 40M flagship (World superyacht award winner) with large C shaped seating and served by an well equipped bar. Furthermore, when needed, the yacht also has got special airconditioning fitted to both the flybridge and aft cockpit complete with custom see-through enclosure so that you could enjoy cruising on the warmer days in comfort.

Her entertainment features doesn’t stop just inside, she also features one of the most equipped set of watersports toys and equipments of any 30M yacht, including custom made sliders, inflatable swimming pool, jetski, seabob, jetboard, banana boat and doughnuts, kayak, and waterskis to name a few.

Beyond her luxurious and exclusive interior styling which has been designed to create a “wow” effect, and beyond the standard Princess Yacht award-winning build quality, layout and design excellence, this particular yacht has also had many technical upgrades for a truly superior superyacht that is capable, safe, and very reliable. The extended long-rang fuel tank (additional 2,300 lt to give 14,500 lt in total) allows her to cruise further and in complete silence thanks to her amazing construction which specially reduces noise and vibrations (cabins are built on  “floating” floors with cushioning throughout for superyacht style noise-transfer efficiency). There is even further dynamat sound insulation throughout for even extra noise control perfection. The stabilizer is upgraded to the TRAC 16x model (usually used on 35M superyacht). The boat is fitted with the most advanced Alfa Laval MIV 303 fuel polishing system to ensure cleaned fuel is used throughout especially when going through to more remote area, while there is trailing pumps fitted to also allow the boat to run on one engine if needed be, as well as auto troll function for slow speed cruising. The freshwater tank is made of stainless steel in place of standard. There is full internet and satellite TV system on board. The yacht comes ready with set of spare propellers, and shaft as well as a list of all spare parts.

The yacht has been lightly used and lovingly and meticulously maintained by her owner and the Princess Yachts South East Asia team and presents one of the most special opportunity to enjoy one of the most special Princess 30M ever built and available right now. As with everything else in life, there are levels to the yacht game. Perhaps when you were younger, you couldn’t conceive of a boat larger than that 60-foot motoryacht docked each summer at the most prominent slip your local marina had to offer. And maybe so recently as 10 years ago, an 80-footer felt like a truly grand yacht fit for moguls and movie stars. But the times, they do change. And presently, even an 80-footer, roundly impressive by most any other measure, won’t cut it for the lucky few. England’s largest yacht manufacturer, Princess Yachts , realizes this in full, of course. And thus, the builder has given us the Princess 30M.

At a single inch shy of 100 feet — which seems a little cruel, doesn’t it? — the Princess Yachts 30M can reliably call herself a true mega-yacht. And her role in the Princess fleet is to welcome owners sizing up from motoryachts to the real deal: that is, the right to call their yachts mega.

One of the most prominent ways that the Princess Yachts 30M distinguishes herself as a mega-yacht is with the placement of her master stateroom, which is on the main deck — not down below and amidships, as on most slightly smaller vessels. The design choice gives the master an inarguable touch of class, not to mention admirable amounts of space and natural light. (The latter trait is helped immensely by a large skylight overhead.) A forward-situated head nicely complements the living space, offering a large shower and his-and-her sinks well accoutered with swirling, nearly flawless marble.

Another main-deck, dead giveaway that the Princess Yachts 30M is in the mega-yacht class is her galley . Aft and to port, it is enclosed, ensuring that a top-rated chef will have all the privacy, stowage and prep space needed to produce five-star tasting menus in any anchorage. Perhaps as you sit in the Princess’s aft cockpit one lovely evening, enjoying the breeze off the Mediterranean and a chilled flute of Krug Grande Cuvée, you might decide you’d like to pair the bubbly with a nice truffle arancini. That can most certainly be arranged.

A raised wheelhouse also marks the 30M’s mega ambitions. The twin Raymarine screens on my test yacht should help the captain keep track of the vessel’s journey while windows provide sight lines that many other 100-footers would be hard-pressed to match. A plush bench seat and cocktail settee to port allow guests to keep the captain company and perhaps brush up on their seamanship skills as the yacht travels from exotic port to exotic port. At my test 30M’s wheel, the captain will man twin 3,600 hp MTU M94s that can get this Princess Yachts vessel up to 27 knots. Twin 2,217 hp MTU 16V 2000 M84s and twin 1,948 hp MTU 12V 2000 M94s are also available as capable options. When the captain is done wheeling the yacht for you, he will surely be happy to have some privacy, courtesy of his own cabin, while the crew splits two others.

And if all of these features aren’t enough to entice you to get a better look at the Princess Yacht 30M , here’s another one that will fire up any yacht fanatic: She’s simply, undeniably pretty. As I cruised out on a smaller Princess from the Mallorcan harbor in Spain that acted as a jumping-off point for my sea trial, I was enjoying the sea breeze and rugged, exotic coastline when I heard a soft, collective gasp from the others aboard who were seeing the 30M for the first time. We had just rounded a bend and entered a cove. Deep-blue water lapped lazily against beige rocks rounded smooth by the sea, and lush greenery sprouted from the tops of the imposing cliffs that surrounded us like sentries. And there in the middle of all this natural grandeur sat the Princess 30M, her dark-blue hull glistening in the bright sun, her silky smooth lines all but undulating, mirroring the sea.

There’s a stately ambience to her, both outside and in. With the master on the main deck, her lines stay fuller farther forward and combine with a bow that juts out like a proud jaw to lend a certain British gravitas. Suffice it to say, this boat makes a statement when you first lay eyes on her.

On board, that stately air is enhanced by a level of fit and finish that is, well, fitting of a true mega-yacht. The cherry woodwork in particular on my test yacht was exemplary. The seams were tight, the wood rich and smooth.

Princess can keep tabs on such details because it builds about 80 percent of the components on board its models in-house at its Plymouth, England, (yes, that Plymouth, of Mayflower fame) shipyard. The Princess complex includes seven facilities and facilitates the employment of more than 2,000 employees, who are expected to churn out a healthy 220 yachts this year. As mentioned, the company is the largest boatbuilder in all of England — no small feat when you consider the stiff competition the country has to offer.

Princess’s numerous skilled and knowledgeable workers also allow the company to customize its yachts. Sure, fabrics, woods and other materials are up to the owner, but creativity is also welcome, and Princess relishes a challenge. On board my test 30M, , the owner, a motorcycle enthusiast, had a glass enclosure built for one of his bikes on the flybridge aft, so the bike is clearly visible from the docks — a creative touch that truly defines “custom.”

Such attention to details should make the 30M a prime choice within an American market hungry for boats in this size range that have optimal amounts of personalization. I see this boat doing well in South Florida thanks in no small part to her relatively shallow 7-foot-6-inch draft, but she’s certainly versatile enough to pop up in almost any geographical location around the Americas.

The 30M is the kind of yacht that can change the way you’re perceived, and in turn, change the way you perceive the ocean itself. Once you’ve effectively leveled up into the mega-yacht class, there’s no turning back.

Of course, something tells me that by the time most people reach a place in life where they can acquire a yacht like the 30M, they haven’t been accustomed to turning back for quite a while.

Art of the Craft

At its Plymouth, England, factory, Princess takes care to keep the yard clean and orderly — an attention to detail that shines through in the products the builder turns out. Finishes are unblemished, seaworthy traits are remarkable and (it’s blasphemy, I know, to use a French phrase to describe an English product) the yachts have a certain je ne sais quoi of fastidiousness about them. Touring the Princess 30M, you get the unmistakable sense that her construction process went smoothly, and thus, so will her life at sea. It’s a hard feeling to describe, but it’s also very real.

Palma de Mallorca, the island about 150 miles off the coast of Spain where we tested the Princess 30M, is a quintessential stopover on any Balearic Isles charter. The hilly, seaside city is interlaced with narrow, winding streets lined by charming shops, cafes and bars. Sitting under an umbrella at an outdoor table at one of those cafes on a drizzly late-spring afternoon, you might just find yourself sipping on an ice-cold Alhambra beer while biting into a jamon y queso sandwich on fresh-baked bread. And it might just be the best meal of your year. Sometimes in life, it really is the simple things.

Starting at the transom, the Princess 30M has a roomy garage perfect to house a small tender, jetskis, SeaBobs, scuba gear, and other water toys on board. The hydraulic swim platform lowers gently into the water creating your own private beach or helping to launch divers into the reef down below. The control and engine rooms are adjacent to the garage for easy access and have plenty of headroom and space when entering. Two staircases opposite each other lead you from the transom to the beautiful aft cockpit. This space on board is special, not just for the views while dining outdoors, but the extra comfort features built into the cockpit. A large teak table is farthest towards the transom and comfortable seating can fit 6 to 8 people. A wet bar close by is conveniently located for mixing and serving cocktails. A portside staircase leads guests to the 30M’s flybridge which is massive with several places to socialize, dine, or relax in the jacuzzi. The flybridge hardtop shades guests on board and the 360-degree views provide a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the ambiance on two L-shaped sofas opposite one another. The flybridge helm is starboard with two comfortable captain’s chairs and all of the electronics needed to guide you to your destination. An outside galley station is opposite the helm and includes a grill, sink, refrigeration, and ice maker. There is an additional staircase as well that takes the owner from the flybridge helm directly to the helm in the raised wheelhouse.

The salon on board the 30M is highlighted with light wood and furniture which gives off a fun, “beachy” feeling that owners and guests will find inviting. Two large sofas are portside along with two comfortable chairs that sit around a large coffee table. A flat screen television is hidden inside a wooden cabinet that lowers inside when not in use. Starboard side is a sliding glass door that reveals a fold-out balcony that offers guests a unique place to sit and enjoy spectacular views. A formal dining area is forward of the salon and can comfortably seat 8 guests and has ample storage around for china and other necessities. The portside pantry leaves to an amazing galley that has all of the cooking amenities needed to take care of all guests and crew on board. Extra seating in the galley is a great spot to sit down and enjoy a meal along with whoever is cooking.

One feature that distinguishes the Princess 30M as a true mega yacht is the master suite that is placed on the main deck, not below and amidships like the guest staterooms. The master suite feels open, partly due to the panoramic windows and skylight overhead that bring in lots of natural light. The king-sized berth is centered in the stateroom with nightstands on each side and plenty of room to walk-around, work at the desk, or sit and read in one of several chairs. The en suite head in the master stateroom features large mirrors, his-and-hers sinks, a beautiful walk-in shower, and lots of natural light. Owners have the choice of selecting a layout that includes an additional three or four guest staterooms on board.

The base power package on the 30M includes twin MTU 12V 2000 M96L 1948hp engines which are powerful enough to give a cruising speed of 20 to 22 knots. Owners wanting a little extra speed can upgrade to twin MTU 16V 2000 series M96L 2636hp engines which push the 30M up to a 25 knot cruise or MTU M94 3600hp engines that reach 27 knots.
