Lynx Yachts Crossover 27 explorer yacht support vessel tenders toys

Designed to fill the gap between rough-and-ready explorer yachts and the support vessels that shadow superyachts to carry the spillover from the main yacht, the Crossover 27 from Dutch shipyard Lynx Yachts is a fully customizable mashup of the two types of boats. The Crossover 27 provides a posh yacht with the stowage space to travel with all the tenders, toys and other amenities while also providing the comfort and technical capacity to spend long periods of time on board. The 27 is the first example in Lynx’s new Crossover Series that was announced at the Monaco Yacht Show last fall.

“We are creating, thanks to a US customer, a new concept that we are going to call a crossover that will be on the platform of a shadow vessel with half the space of the deck dedicated to hosting big toys and the rest will be a main saloon and accommodation,” said Filippo Rossi during an interview with Superyachts.com. At the end it will be a big explorer yacht capable to carry all that you want to go anywhere in the world with freedom and safety.” Rossi is sales and marketing manager for Lynx Yachts.

The highlight of the Crossover 27 is the 753-square-foot main deck. Use this 23-foot-wide space for stowing tenders and toys. Once you’ve launched them into the water, guests now may enjoy a huge deck space for sunning, dining or throwing a seaside soiree.

A good-size saloon with large windows leads to the galley and then the wheelhouse on the main deck. Down below a spacious master suite and two guest cabins accommodate a total of six. Two crew cabins (for four crew members) sit far forward.

Head back outside and everyone will enjoy the big beach club aft at water level, as well as the sundeck way up top. The sundeck is home to a couple of Yamaha WaveRunners, two standup Jet Skis and the crane for launching the tenders. Once they’re launched, it’s another great place to snatch a little private sunning time.

Tucked behind the swim platform is the lazarette, which provides all kinds of storage for the rest of the water sports gear: stand-up paddle boards, canoes, surfboards, scuba and snorkeling equipment—you name it.

Netherlands-based Bernd Weel Design penned the yacht’s exteriors, and French firm Franck Darnet Design handled the interiors. Diana Yacht Design took care of the naval architecture. A couple of Caterpillar engines give the Crossover 27 a top speed of 14 knots and a range of 1,350 nm while cruising at 12.5 knots. The first hull is already spoken for and will be delivered in 2022.

Dutch shipyard Lynx Yachts announced the official launch of its first 27.4-meter (90-ft) Crossover 27 superyacht. With a stylish look and a sporty profile, this luxury vessel is ideal for adventure-filled journeys at sea.

Named Avontuur (which means “adventure” in Dutch), the superyacht touched the water for the first time earlier this month. Now, it’s receiving its final touches before it heads to its owner later this Spring.

Its exterior was designed by Dutch studio Bernd Weel, while the interior was drawn by the French designer Franck Darnet. The Crossover 27 combines the elegance of a superyacht with the flexibility of a support vessel in a customizable expedition yacht.

The vessel initially had a four-stateroom configuration that included the master stateroom, a VIP, and two twin cabins with crew quarters located aft of the engine room. But the owner of Avontuur wanted a slightly different layout, with the crew quarters integrated into the guest area.

One of the core features of this superyacht is the spacious main deck, which includes a salon surrounded by large windows that let the natural light bathe the whole interior space. The rest of the deck can stow various water toys, such as an Air Nautique G23 and a five-meter (16.4-ft) RIB. Once these luxury toys are launched, the area can be turned into an open space for entertainment.

Above the main salon is the sundeck, which features a crane that is used for getting even more water toys onboard. Avontuur also has a large beach club that takes guests closer to the sea. And, of course, it had to include a lazarette too that will allow the owner to store surfboards, paddleboards, canoes, or scuba diving equipment.

In terms of performance, this superyacht is powered by two Caterpillar C12.9 engines capable of producing 850 hp each. That’s enough to make Avontuur navigate at a top speed of 14 knots (16 mph/26 kph). It will cruise at 12.5 knots (14 mph/ 23 kph) and have a range of 2,071 miles (3,3334 km).

Slim Bouricha, the founder of Lynx Yachts, commented at the launch: “We are delighted to launch Avontuur following a fantastic and fruitful collaboration with her Californian owner. He is a seasoned and sporty yachtsman who was involved at every single level of the build, and it has been a real pleasure working together.”

The yacht will head to its owner in April. Following its delivery, Avontuur is expected to cruise around the Mediterranean.

Lynx Yachts begins production on Adventure 24 pocket explorer series

Dutch shipyard Lynx Yachts has begun production on the first hull in its Adventure 24 series. Built on-spec, the hull and superstructure are almost completed, with the interior currently being built separately. Delivery is scheduled for June 2024.

Conceived as a pocket superyacht, the model is the smallest in the series and, despite its robust profile, has its design rooted in the Mediterranean cruising scene.

The Adventure 24 features design by long-time collaborator Bernd Weel, who also worked on the YXT Evolution and Crossover series in collaboration with the shipyard. At 23.95 metres in length, the model sits just underneath the size restrictions imposed by French authorities that make it illegal to anchor in certain areas of the Riviera. The first unit will be built in a full-displacement steel hull and equipped with fin stabilisers for added stability.

Twin staircases lead up from the swim platform to the main deck aft where an al fresco dining area is found beneath the shade of the sundeck overhang. Above is another al fresco dining option that sits laterally across the deck, this time beneath the protection of a hardtop, with sofas that hug the forward bulwark and a sit-up bar nearby.

Tender operations are confined to the bow where a six-metre tender and two Jet Skis can be stored when underway, with a crane for launch and recovery. For owners who require more space for toys and tenders, the upper deck can be converted into a utility deck by sacrificing the hardtop.

The first unit's interior design will be courtesy of Julian Moore, with preliminary renderings of the main saloon revealing a neutral colour palette, wide windows and L-shaped sofa seating. The layout is left to the imagination of each individual owner with the option of extending the superstructure to allow for a more formal dining setting in the main saloon. This unit will be built with the series' standard accommodation, which offers a four-cabin layout with twin VIP cabins and two guest cabins. Those who prefer a full-beam owner’s suite, however, have the option of a three-cabin arrangement.

Powered by twin Cummins engines, the unit will have a maximum speed of 11.7 knots and a cruising speed of 10.4 knots. With a draft of 1.9 metres, it will also be able to navigate shallow bays and anchorages with ease.

The Adventure 24 is offered for sale with Christie Yachts and is asking €‎4,995,000.
