General overview.

Magic Six – Astondoa 82 GLX  is one of the best-built yachts by the leading Spanish yard. Big by definition, the ASTONDOA 82 GLX out-sizes all other 82′ motor yachts on the market. Accomodating 8 guests (2 extra pullman berths are available), her large volumes result in ample, comfortable and practical interior spaces.

Her interiors offer a wide salon with sofa (new 2021), flat screen TV, large windows giving brightness to the area and a comfortable dining table for 8/10 guests. The fully equipped galley is forward, such as the main deck day toilet, the wheelhouse and the crew dining table.

The yacht has undergone a refurbish in 2021/2022 and many new accessories have been installed/replaced onboard, such as: new 2021 sofa, lower deck new flooring (moquette was removed),  new wide double mattres sundeck on top deck.

Magic Six offers accommodation to 10 guests in 4 cabins: 1 forward master cabin; 1 double bedded VIP cabin; 2 twin cabins both equipped with a pullman bed. All cabins feature an ensuite toilet.

The deck offers wide areas typical of significantly larger yachts: a forward sunbathing area with cushions; a further sundeck area on top deck together with a dining table with seats; the Jacuzzi tub allows guests the optimum level of enjoyment and epitomizes true relaxation. Alfresco dining area for 8/10 guests on cockpit as well; a comfortable ladder offers easy access to the bathing platform and to the sea.

Captain: Christian Rossini, Italo/Croatian, 45 years old. Christian was born in Venice and is a bright and bubbly man, always enthusiastic and passionate about his job. His guests always appreciate his good vibes and his can-do-attitude. He’s a tireless worker and deep connoisseur of Croatia where he has always sailed. Christian has always worked at sea from a very young age. He is very proud of his very long employments and working relationships with families of important Italian entrepreneurs: his last employment was on a Dalla Pietà 80 feet based in Venice for charter where he worked for 8 years . Christian is a nature lover and this is also why he loves his job; in his free time he goes mountain biking and practices lot of fitness. Christian speaks good English and Italian as a native.

Deckhand: Marco Cichellero, Italo/american, 24 years old. Marco was born in the US where he lived until 5 years old. Then he moved to Venice where he studied and after achieving his diploma he started to work at sea, quite normal for a Venetian. He’s been working on yachts for 5 years by now; very good willing, very hard working guy. He speaks English as a native and of course Italian

Chef/Stewardess: Manuela Ruffino, Italian, 46 years old. Manuela is 46 years old, Italian from Sicily and passionate of good cuisine since ever. She makes it her priority to choose the best ingredients for her guests and as a Sicilian she’s very keen on seafood preparations. She has been working on private and charter yachts every summer for several years, achieving excellent skills. In her free time Manuela loves writing and painting and of course spending time at sea Manuela speaks English and Italian as a native.

MAGIC SIX – Astondoa 82 GLX is really in perfect conditions. The yacht is currently undergoing a refitting and many new accessories will be installed onboard, such as: new 2021 sofa, lower deck new flooring (moquette will be removed), wide new sunbed double mattresses on top deck.

When it comes to global sporting events that combine history, intrigue, athleticism, talent, technology, legendary personalities, and powerful financiers, few can compete with the America’s Cup . Actually, there’s nothing like the America’s Cup for the simple reason that no other team on earth can boast of a winning streak quite like the New York Yacht Club had when they went undefeated in America’s Cup matches from 1851 until 1983 .

But then again, there’s nothing quite like the New York Yacht Club that maintains two legendary “clubhouses”—one in the heart of New York City on 44th Street, known for its Model Room and extensive nautical library, and Harbour Court in Newport, Rhode Island that annually hosts some of North America’s most prestigious sailing events, including its Annual Regatta, Race Week at Newport presented by Rolex, the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup and the Queen’s Cup.

However, as a sailor and native New Englander who was 15-years old in 1983, I have vivid and heart-breaking memories of Denis Connor and the NYYC losing the Cup to the Australians . But don’t worry! My inner child has recovered (somewhat) since The New York Yacht Club American Magic team is working to finally bring the Cup back to NYC and Newport where it belongs...(lol).

“We intend to compete in AC37 and are hungry and highly motivated to be the most innovative team on and off the water,” explained Hap Fauth, Principal for American Magic when they announced the team would compete in AC37 that begins in August. “We are proud of how our team rebounded during AC36, but we have unfinished business and are committed to investing in technology, design, innovation, and talent so we are best positioned to bring the America’s Cup home!”

And after getting a glimpse all the cutting-edge-custom-made technology the team has developed to make their hydrofoiling race boat (hull, foils, keels, sails, computer software, pedal-powered hydraulic pumps etc.) faster than the competition, I can say they sure have invested in what Fauth said at the beginning... “the technology, design, innovation, and talent” they need to seriously compete for the Cup. However, I can’t really talk about any of it simply because the America’s Cup is more than just another boat race. It’s also a design and technology arms race that leads teams to be highly secretive as well.

But as I learned in my discussion with team Skipper and President of Sailing Operations Terry Hutchinson , not all the technology that’s being developed for the team is as secret as the shape of the hull, foils, and sails even though the tech contributes to performance. And since four of the eight-man crew of an AC75 is comprised of elite endurance athletes that are responsible for creating the hydraulic power required to trim sails and each lifting keel, this is especially true when it comes to the crew clothing and safety devices.

That’s where New York Yacht Club American Magic’s partnership with Helly Hansen comes in. After training at the team's base in the Port of Pensacola, FL, Helly Hansen designers and American Magic crew members exchanged feedback that have led to an entirely new collection of gear. Dave Portnoy had to be rescued by the US Coast Guard on Monday after he and his boat were “nearly lost” at sea.

“Your boys almost lost Captain Dave today. Captain Dave almost was lost to the ocean, mother ocean,” the Barstool Sports founder, 47, revealed in a video shared via X .

Portnoy went on to explain that he was planning to take his mom, Linda, out for a boat ride off Nantucket as she was in town visiting him at this home in Massachusetts.

However, when Portnoy unhooked the 28-foot vessel from the dock and buoys, he realized he made a “critical mistake” as the boat had “no power, no radio, no anchor, no nothing” amid “heavy, heavy winds.”

“Next thing you know, Captain Dave is lost at sea,” he recalled. “[The boat’s] just blowing, [I’m] trying not to crash into ships in the harbor.”

Portnoy said he started screaming for help and also used a flare gun to send a stress signal. Luckily, a woman in a “rowboat” saw him and made her way over to him to assist.

“She boards Captain Dave’s vessel, says, ‘Can I make a TikTok of you, Captain Dave?’ I said, ’No time for TikToks.’ She goes, ‘Well, I don’t have my phone on me anyways,’” he remembered. “[But] her radio works [and she] calls in the Coast Guard.”

Portnoy said that four “burly dudes” from the US Coast Guard arrived shortly after the call was made.

“Captain Dave is out at sea going back and forth, rocking, thinks my life is over. Captain Dave had to be halfway to f–king the Caribbean just rocking, no power, no boat,” he shared.

“Thankfully, Coast Guard, God bless her soul, tied me up, brings me back to my [dock]. Dave lives to tell another tale.”

Portnoy admitted that the ordeal definitely took a toll on him but is thankful to the US Coast Guard for “saving” his life.

He called boating “a dangerous game” and told fans that he “may never go on the boat again” following the stressful incident.

The US Coast Guard Northeast X account later reposted his video, adding, “You’re welcome, Dave. Tell [your dog] Miss Peaches we said hi and remember to boat safe! #SemperParatus.”

As previously reported, the internet personality has spent his summers in the idyllic vacation town for years before purchasing a whopping $42 million mansion last year .

The incident marked the second time this summer that Portnoy has had a scare, since he recently revealed that he had a mole removed from his neck after discovering he had skin cancer .

“So it was a mole. I’m starting to get on top of myself so I went to a doctor, did the skin thing and they scrape it and one of them came back as, like, cancerous, so it’s like, ‘Boop, gotta take it out,’” he said last month during one of his podcast episodes.

6 ways to experience the Paris of the Roaring ’20s

From peeking into artist ateliers to sipping coffee at La Coupole, here’s how to still find the magic of Paris from when it last hosted the Olympics 100 years ago.

A century ago when Paris last hosted the Olympics, the city was a giant party, seducing visitors from all over the world. More than 600,000 spectators crowded the stands, including Americans who disembarked transatlantic liners at Le Havre. Between sports events, they took in the sights that made Paris one of Europe’s most touristed destinations at the time—including the Eiffel Tower, which showed off a new paint job for its 35th birthday. Above all, visitors soaked up the city’s exuberant ambiance.

The Roaring Twenties was a time of rule-breaking and artistic creativity. After the unspeakable horrors of World War I, the mood in the French capital embraced freedom and fun. It was a cosmopolitan scene: Kiki de Montparnasse danced on bar tops, Ernest Hemingway scribbled in cafés, Pablo Picasso prodigiously painted. “Paris was perceived as the capital of the world at the time,” said historian Pascal Blanchard, one of the curators of “Olympism: A History of the World” at the Palais de la Porte Dorée (Immigration History Museum).

The 1924 Olympics played out amid this urban fervor. Here’s how you can experience some of that Parisian spirit today.

Swim in an Olympic pool

This summer’s Games will take place amid the challenges of climate change. Paris 2024 organizers aim to cut the carbon footprint in half by prioritizing renewable energy, catering eco-friendly food, and restricting the building of new sports venues. An example of this sustainability strategy is the 50-meter pool where Johnny Weissmuller made history at the 1924 Games when he swam 100 meters in less than a minute. (Scoring three gold medals, the swimmer would later star as Tarzan in the movies.) Newly renamed for Georges Vallery, a swimming champion and World War II hero, the century-old aquatic center with a retractable roof got a complete makeover using reclaimed materials. Now locals and visitors alike can dive into the pool that was the first in the world to be purpose-built for Olympic events. (The entry price for Paris pools is 3.5 euros.   Check pool hours here , but note that the pool is not open to the public until after the Olympics.)

Nowhere better encapsulated the spirit of Les Années F olles (literally: the “crazy years”) than Montparnasse. École de Paris artists—think Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, and Kees Van Dongen—converged here to experiment with what’s now called “modern art.”

On cheap real estate that was once a slum, Montparnasse welcomed ateliers constructed with materials repurposed from World’s Fair pavilions. Many artists’ studios are privately owned now, but you can discern their former function by their large glass windows (look for Cité Fleurie on Boulevard Arago or Villa Vassilieff on Avenue du Maine). Other ateliers have been turned into museums, such as those of sculptors Ossip Zadkine and Chana Orloff.

Caffeinate at classic cafés

Cafés were central to the Montparnasse scene. “They represent a last surviving piece of the era,” says Edith de Belleville , a Parisian lawyer, author, and tour guide. “For the price of a cup of coffee, you can travel to the 1920s.” Particularly notorious were the four brasseries facing each other at the Carrefour Vavin: Le Select, Le Dôme, La Coupole, and La Rotonde. Hard-partying, Prohibition-fleeing Americans flocked to Le Select , the first in the quarter to stay open all night. Scenes from Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises were staged here.

Today, tables still crowd the sidewalk terraces in front of this quartet. White-aproned waiters bustle across the mosaic floors at La Coupole —its prix-fixe lunch menu making it the most affordable of the bunch. Le Dôme serves seafood platters with Art Deco vibes, while La Rotonde ’s red velvet banquettes hosted President Emmanuel Macron’s first victory party. It was in the bathroom at La Rotonde that Kiki de Montparnasse, artists’ muse and icon of the era, would wash her feet before posing for Japanese painter Foujita. Man Ray fell under her spell, publishing a groundbreaking photo in 1924 in the surrealist magazine Litt é rature . A copy of the portrait—depicting Kiki’s voluptuous back in the form of a violin—sold for a record-breaking $12.4 million at a 2022 Christie’s auction in New York.

Sip a sidecar—or an absinthe

Just around the corner from La Rotonde, Dingo’s Bar—where Hemingway first met F. Scott Fitzgerald—has been preserved inside an Italian restaurant called the Auberge de Venise . And next to Port Royal, La Closerie des Lilas —where Fitzgerald asked Hemingway to read The Great Gatsby —is “one of the rare places in Paris you can drink a real absinthe,” says de Belleville.

Across town at the Place Vendôme, the Ritz Paris opened its first bar in 1921, which Hemingway claimed to have “liberated” at the end of World War II. Today there are two chic watering holes. The no-reservations Bar Hemingway draws a nightly line of cocktail enthusiasts keen to sip a sidecar surrounded by vintage memorabilia, while the Ritz Bar is a contemporary ode to astrology and couture-style mixology.

The drinks also flow freely at Maxim’s . Born in the belle epoque and a legend by the 1920s, Maxim’s today channels the era’s revelry with live, costumed entertainment. A recent renovation by the Paris Society hospitality group restored the art nouveau splendor of celebrated artists Alphonse Mucha and Hector Guimard. “Paris will only be ruined the day Maxim’s disappears,” writer and filmmaker Jean Cocteau once remarked.

Beyond the wild parties, Paris was a cultural trailblazer in the 1920s. Le Louxor opened in 1921 in the 10th arrondissement as one of the capital’s first cinemas. It was the brainchild of businessman Henri Silberberg, who had attended the Lumière Brothers’ first paid movie screenings in 1895. Decked out in hieroglyphs, the 1,140-seat venue drew its stylistic inspiration from both art deco and ancient Egypt (the 1922 discovery of King Tut’s tomb only further fueled this decorative trend in Paris). Nowadays the “cinema palace”—which had a stint as a nightclub in the 1980s—screens a wide variety of films.

Catch a spectacle

The Bal Blomet opened in 1924 as a cabaret west of Montparnasse. Nicknamed the “Bal Nègre,” the multicultural spot drew the beau monde for beguine music from Martinique. Today the restored venue is billed as the oldest jazz club in Europe still in operation.

A sensational new entertainment genre wowed audiences at the Folies Bergère, originally inaugurated as a 19th-century pleasure house for the nobility. Modeled after London’s Alhambra, it was Paris’s first music hall, and the “revues”—as the shows were called—combined comedy, dance, crazy costumes, and nudity. Spectators circulated freely as they drank, smoked, and took in over-the-top spectacles. Director Paul Derval, who ruled the roost for 50 years, recruited big names to the stage like Josephine Baker, who danced in her infamous banana skirt (1926). Nowadays the acts run the gamut from Jean-Paul Gaultier’s 2019 Fashion Freak Show to big-name concerts.

During the 1920s, the Théâtre   des   Champs-Elysées showed off the Ballets Suédois. The troupe’s productions were a synthesis of modernist art and music conceived by major talents such as Fernand Léger, Jean Cocteau, and Cole Porter. The architecture itself was innovative: constructed in reinforced concrete, in a pioneering art deco style. Inside, the theater allowed perfect visibility of the stage—without columns blocking the view. “The first spectators were terrified the balconies would collapse,” says guide Ophélie Lachaux. The theater was also audacious in its programming, starting with the scandalous 1913 performance of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring . Later, Josephine Baker made her Paris debut with the “ danse sauvage ” during L a Revue N è gre (1925)—a show infused with the in-demand “exoticism” that bewitched Parisian audiences at the time.

Designated a historic monument, the theater continues to stage original productions every year, not satisfied with just performing the classics. Says Lachaux: “There is a desire for creation, a need for creation”—a zeitgeist of the Roaring Twenties that’s still en vogue in Paris today.
