Panorama 50

Panorama is the project of the new 50 meters superyacht of the Admiral fleet, flagship brand of The Italian Sea Group, global operator in luxury yachting, active in the construction and refit of yachts up to 140 meters.

With an elegant and timeless profile, Panorama is a made in Italy masterpiece in terms of shapes, lines and stylistic solutions, born from TISG’s collaboration with Piredda & Partners, which curated the design of the exterior and interior.

The “Panorama” motor-yacht, designed in steel with an aluminum superstructure, with its 499GT guarantees the ability to make long journeys in total safety. The design without visual barriers and the elegant fluidity between exteriors and interiors create a continuous and natural dialogue in all areas, characterized by large volumes and structural details such as the heights of the ceilings, large spaces and large windows. The interiors reveal a refined and enveloping atmosphere thanks to a careful selection of precious and natural materials, such as wood in light tones, stones and rough metals.

The Panorama superyacht can accommodate up to 12 guests, who can stay in the four large and bright suites on the main deck; in the VIP cabin on the lower deck, which can be transformed into a comfortable TV room, sided by a perfectly equipped gym area. The owner’s area on the upper deck enjoys an open view on three sides and a view of the private bow deck to relax at any time.

Eva Hessen motor yacht aft underway image

Ela: On board Heesen's fourth 50m aluminium build

Delivered lightning-fast after purchase, the 49.8-metre Heesen Ela is a case study in how semi-custom construction can turn out a beautifully personal yacht in record time, learns Kate Lardy

Ela is a striking yacht, with a chic plumb bow and a lightness to her profile thanks to large expanses of glass. Parked on the corner of the prominent Pier 66 Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she is the reason why Heesen director of sales Thom Conboy’s phone has been ringing off the hook recently. But this is no one-off custom creation. Instead, she’s identical on the outside to three other Heesens that came before her.

It’s safe to say that the Dutch shipyard has managed to corner this market of 50- to 55-metre yachts available practically on demand. “Our business model of spec building has led Heesen to wild success in the last 20 years,” Conboy says.

The builder duplicates a fashionable exterior design, popular general arrangement and proven mechanical platform to turn out impeccably engineered and eminently liveable yachts. But at this super-size range, nobody wants a production yacht. That’s where interior designers like Cristiano Gatto come in. The Italian has built a symbiotic relationship with the yard since he worked on the interior of the fully custom yacht Crazy Me , the Gary Grant-designed 50-metre launched in 2013.

“We started to see that the Italian way and the Dutch way can work together very well. A bit of my craziness with a bit of their structure of pre-engineering everything is good alchemy. From there, we started to work together,” says Gatto, who jokingly calls himself “Mr 50” for the many 50-metre interiors he has worked on with Heesen. He’s lost count, but thinks it’s around 12 so far.

One of these latest 50s is Ela , the fourth delivery in Heesen’s 50-metre aluminium FDHF (fast displacement hull form) series, and a perfect example of just how individual a yacht built on a semi-custom platform can be. Like the three yachts that came before her – Home , Erica and Amare II – Ela has an exterior design by Omega Architects , hull design by Van Oossanen Naval Architects and interior design by Cristiano Gatto Design. But of these three firms, only Gatto needed to develop an entirely different look and feel than the previous launches.

So, how does he do it? Mullions, he says.

Any interior vision starts with the exterior, he explains. “I always create an interior effect that reflects what we have outside.” For example, a salient feature of Omega Architects’ exterior styling for this series is the floor-to-ceiling glass that fringes the main and upper decks. Vast windows, which line up with cutaways in the bulwarks, allow extraordinary views from within. So, inside, Gatto started with the mullions. “Each one in the series I design has a new mullion concept,” he says. From that detail, a distinctive interior vision is born.

Ela ’s concept is simple yet bold: mullions that are not afraid to be seen and noticed with strong geometry, rich materials and a delightful trick of the eye. Warm Canaletto walnut dominates, trimmed with an almost-black dark-tinted walnut. Topped with downward-facing spotlights that illuminate a path at night and backed by mirrors that touch the glass, they amplify and multiply those fantastic sea views.

“I was happy when the clients said, ‘You know what I really like about the interior? That mullion,’” Gatto says.

Indeed, the owners had an instant meeting of the minds with Gatto when they came to the project late in the build. They signed the contract just three months before delivery and worked closely with the designer to refine his concept to reflect their tastes. “We immediately had a good feeling about each other. We went to see other things together and I was able to establish what their expectation was compared to the standard project,” Gatto says.

This period was a whirlwind of activity, a race against time. Fortunately, the first-time owners and long-time charterers moved fast. “We took the major decisions within three days,” Gatto says. “We transformed a selection of the materials, added some upholstery elements and then completely redesigned the loose furniture.”

The latter had Gatto running all over Italy, from Milan to Venice. Working with four artisan companies, each responsible for one aspect of his original designs, such as a crackle lacquer finish or ultra-light marble, he did the sketching and re-sketching while they did the testing and mock-ups. “That was the fun part. We arrived to do objects that I had never done before,” he says.

The tables are some of his favourite creations. The unique pieces in the main and upper saloons feature unusual shapes and special finishes. However, it’s the lighting inside the main saloon dining table and upper saloon coffee table that makes the biggest impression. Embedded within four-millimetre-thick onyx, it changes the stone’s colour – from pink to purple to blue to green to yellow, and so on.

The overall effect of the owner’s redesign is a warmer feel, achieved by covering some of the cool lacquered surfaces with leather and panels in Majilite’s Novasuede. Revisiting the loose furniture also gave the design  “a bit less drama”, according to Gatto. The organically shaped pieces come from Italian powerhouses like Zanotta, B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau and Promemoria, or, as in the case of the main and upper saloon’s sofas and tables, are custom designed by Gatto. The owners did not change the walnut joinery and floors, which contrast nicely with the white hand-stitched saddle leather floor tiles that define the main saloon’s central seating area.

“It doesn’t need to look opulent, and it doesn’t need to look glamorous; simplicity looks rich. I think that Ela has achieved that result,” Gatto says. The main foyer sets the tone with its bianco lasa covelano marble floor and floating walnut stair treads trimmed with a hint of polished stainless steel. Throughout Ela , stones, leather and walnut produce a stylish yet not over-the-top interior. For example, supple embossed leather lines the wall behind the owner’s suite’s bed, and travertine is lavished in the bathrooms and sauna.

“We try not to overdo it with decoration because the view of being at sea needs to catch your eye as much as possible,” Gatto says. The idea is not to compete with the view. “Imagine waking up in the morning in the master stateroom; you need to feel cosy, not cold at all, because you want to be fresh and calm. Open up your window shade and you see, let’s say, the Bahamas. Nothing between you relaxing in your bed and the view of the ocean outside should overwhelm you. Then during the day, when you are seated on the sofas or armchairs, in one of the saloons and you look at the details of the ceiling, of the mullions, or whatever it is, you need to perceive the richness of the detail of structures but without excessive glamour that will obstruct your view.”

The project’s success goes beyond its aesthetics, though, as Gatto points out. Each semi-custom delivery allows him and the shipyard to build on their experience. “We make the engineering that is behind the interior even more perfect, for example. It is very important because, at the end, the quality of the interiors is not just about what you see, but I always say it involves all our senses – hearing, smell, touch, etc. So, you create a mood, not just with the things you see.”

And what you hear should be nothing. Conboy says the yachts in this series, also known as the Nova or Nova Plus class, are extremely quiet. Two of the four deliveries, including Ela , are considered Nova Plus because they have traditional diesel engines with shafts, struts, and props. The other two are in the Nova class; they have hybrid propulsion with electric shaft motors, and, Conboy says, “they’re virtually silent.”

On Ela , twin MTU 2000 series M72 V12s, coupled with lightweight aluminium construction and Van Oossanen’s efficient fast-displacement hull, give a top speed of 19.5 knots and class-leading fuel efficiency.

“The other thing that’s attractive, especially in this part of the world,” Conboy says, speaking from Fort Lauderdale, “is it has a 2.1-metre draught. So, it’s a big platform to take shallow water cruising or to the Bahamas.”

What Captain Nicolas Ruiz loves about the platform is the flexible tender bay forward on deck. “I’m not restricted by a tender garage,” he says. “If I want a different tender, let’s say I had a client who says, ‘Let’s go bone fishing this week,’ OK, we’ll put the flats boat on. Or ‘Let’s go diving.’ OK, we’ll put the big rubber duck on.” Beside the tenders, there is space left over for wave runners, kayaks or surf skis. “It’s almost like  an explorer-type bow.”

Furthermore, the tender bay converts into an outdoor cinema. What at first glance looks to be a tender cover is the top of an inflatable deck that fills the bay when the tender has been offloaded. The crew can then set up an Icon Connect screen and projector and this utilitarian space is now an entertainment area. The concept is perfectly in line with how the owners like to experience their yacht. They use the lower deck gym every day when on board, but they like to spend most of their time outdoors, says the yacht’s chief stewardess, Antonia Jukic.

The sundeck is a favourite place for entertaining, she confirms. It features loungers by Paola Lenti (which supplied all the loose deck furniture and cushions), a large hot tub, colour-changing onyx bar, and two custom coffee tables that rise and combine into one. The owners have occasionally used this spot for an outdoor dinner, although they enjoy most of their meals at the custom table designed by Gatto for the bridge deck.

Closer to the water is a stern platform of immense dimensions for a yacht her size. At the centre is a Transformer platform that rises eight steps high from the deck and lowers into the water. As its name suggests, it can be many things, a tall platform to daringly dive from or a low one. Dropped a foot below the waterline and surrounded by rails, it becomes the perfect perch for little ones to splash around on. The captain even suggests it could be a stage for a DJ setup towering over dance parties on the aft deck.

There is certainly a lot of fun to be had, and Ela ’s owners are having it. According to the crew, since the owners took delivery, they have spent all their time on board instead of in their shore-side penthouse.

50 meter sailing yacht

Best sub-50m yachts

Published 17 March 2022

During 2020-21 the   Burgess brokerage team   has seen around 50 percent of all yacht sales in the 30-50m bracket, proving that it’s stronger than ever. We have seen both sailing and motor yacht sales increase, as former charterers take their first steps into yacht ownership and the privacy, yachting lifestyle and pride of possession that comes with owning a superyacht.

Many first-time owners will have  chartered a yacht   in the  Med ,  Caribbean , Pacific or  Indian Ocean , building a list of features they’ll look for in their first yacht. This size of yacht also gives charterers a chance to experience the multi-faceted aquatic lifestyle. Whether your interest is in motor yachts or sailing yachts, a charter on the other type of yacht can give you a taster of what ownership would be like before you invest.

If you’re looking to buy a sailing yacht over 50m, the choice is rather narrow with shipyards like Baltic, Royal Huisman and Vitters being the obvious ones. Below 50m, however, your options increase both in terms of the styles and the number of sailing yachts available.

Recent circumstances have driven an increased interest in yacht ownership, and if you’re considering the joys of owning a superyacht, we are here to help.

What are the benefits of a sub-50m yacht?

There are many benefits to owning a sub-50m yacht, smaller bills being the most obvious. But it’s not just cost. Sub-50 metre yachts tend to have a more personal feel to them and they are easier to operate with fewer crew members. Their size is ideal for romantic getaways and also for island hopping – you get to explore anchorages and harbours that larger yachts simply cannot visit.

Sub-50m yachts have shallower draft so can explore more widely in places with shallow waters like The Bahamas

Many yachts in the 30-50m size bracket are semi-custom models, or built on a standard platform. They usually have a GRP hull and superstructure which makes them lighter and more economical to buy, run and service. There’s less inherent risk involved in buying from a selection of well-known models rather than choosing from a shortlist of full custom builds. Benetti, Custom Line, Overmarine, Sunseeker and Westport are just a few of the shipyards that build a series of yachts with the same hull under 50m.

The latest designs have clever ways of expanding available space. This 40m yacht has a swim platform comparable to that of a 60m yacht

The cost of refitting, restyling or renovating a 30-50m yacht also tends to be much lower than it is for a larger vessel. This can offer a new owner a unique opportunity to buy a yacht and make it their own from the start, at the fraction of the cost of a new custom build.

Lower cost of operation

Yachts between 30-50m are more cost-efficient to run than larger yachts – their running costs per metre are proportionally lower. A 30m (98.4ft) yacht can have annual running costs of around GBP 800,000 whereas a yacht twice the length can cost three times as much to run. Generally speaking, as it depends on the type of yacht, her age and condition and so on, for every 10m increase in length, the annual costs tend to increase by around GBP 500,000 until it reaches 60m. Upwards from there it increases by around GBP 750,000 per 10m.

A sub-50m yacht delivers all the benefits of the yachting lifestyle but on a more manageable budget

Larger yachts burn more fuel, not only for propulsion but for power generation too. More space, cabins and guests all require larger air conditioning units and higher hotel system loads which must all be accounted for. A 30m (98.4ft) yacht and a 45m (147.6ft) yacht may have similar fuel costs with perhaps GBP 10,000-GBP 20,000 difference but increase the size of yacht to between 45-60m (147.6-196.8ft) and the increase could be GBP 60,000-GBP 90,000.

A smaller yacht needs a smaller crew, reducing costs further

Crew numbers and their costs also increase disproportionately with the size of yacht. A typical 30m yacht might have a crew of five with the total cost of salaries under GBP 200,000. A 40m yacht might have a crew of eight which more than doubles the salary costs to around GBP 500,000, while on a 50m yacht, one could expect 11 crew costing GBP 600,000 a year. But increase the yacht’s length overall by 10m more, to a 60m yacht, and a crew of 14 could bring the crew salaries to around GBP 900,000.

More environmentally friendly

For the environmentally-minded owner, a 30-50m yacht is better. Fewer raw materials are used in the yacht’s production, and fuel consumption for propulsion and power generation is lower too. Hotel loads can be managed by larger battery banks, rather than constant power generation. A sailing yacht is the ultimate eco-friendly yacht, offering a way to cruise far and wide with a reduced environmental footprint, retaining a luxury lifestyle without burning hundreds of gallons of diesel.

Sailing yachts use a fraction of the fuel motor yachts do

Yachts of any type in the 30-50m range also lend themselves well to shorter, eco-friendlier trips, using less fuel. Harbour berths too are easier to come by; rather than launching the tender and running it back and forth, you can simply step ashore of an evening. You can also cruise and holiday with fewer guests, without the guilt of transporting empty cabins and the staff needed to serve non-existent visitors. Fewer people on board reduces the carbon footprint of guests travelling to the yacht as well as fuel consumption while on board. All this is good for the planet.

Get the best of both worlds when cruising and docking

Larger motor yachts have a cruising speed of around 10-15 knots. Many 30m yachts will happily cruise at between 20-30 knots with maximum speed at 30 knots or above. Being faster, many sub-50m yachts can travel twice as far in a day, giving a greater variety of destinations and options for you and your guests.

Performance yachts are great for island hopping because you can visit more of them in the time available, but fuel costs will be higher than a displacement yacht

Whether you spend the night in a harbour or an anchorage, a 30-50m yacht can offer an excellent lifestyle and on board experience. Larger yachts lend themselves better to out-of-port life; touch-and-go helipads make transfers easier, but not being able to fit a large yacht into a harbour makes shopping or sightseeing visits dependent on transfer by tender. Sub-50m yachts, on the other hand, can usually find a berth in port. Entering and leaving ports is less problematic in smaller yachts and port operations procedures can often be achieved in half the time, maximising your time at sea.

Perfect for island hopping

The versatility of 30-50m yachts makes them the best choice if you like to keep on the move and explore different islands and anchorages. A beach picnic ashore on one secluded sandy bay for lunch, a different west-facing beach for an evening barbecue to watch the sun sink below the horizon.

Faster yachts let you get to the best anchorages first - and closer to the shore

A faster cruising speed enables your captain to get to remote bays before larger yachts, enabling your crew to choose the best location for the day’s activities – before the larger yachts arrive. As we mentioned, port operations in a smaller yacht are easier and quicker so more time is available to do what you enjoy on board.

More intimate than larger yachts

There is much to be said for larger yachts, but rarely do they have the same friendly feel as a 30m yacht , which is perfect for a romantic getaway with your partner or an intimate cruise with family or friends. More space is not always a good thing. Whether you want to relax in the saloon as a family or have a romantic meal for two on the sun deck it’s wonderful to have the secluded feel of your yacht without feeling overwhelmed by space.

You're better connected to friends and family on a sub-50m yacht, you're not going to lose each other

Sub-50m yachts are far more inclusive. You’ll hear a giggle from your children or the laughter from your guests in the beach club – you don’t miss out on what’s happening on board. You do, however, still have plenty of private space on a 30-50m yacht to be alone if you want to or need to. You have the choice.

A larger market should you choose to charter or sell

The sub-50m sector is also an evergreen market, it’s popular with owners as a way of experiencing the yachting lifestyle without the financial commitment of commissioning a large, full custom superyacht. As such, when the time comes to sell your 30-50m yacht, you know there will be people in the position you are in now, those looking to buy the most popular size of yacht for the first time.

There will always be a bigger market for 30-50m yachts than those of 50m-plus

It’s also a buoyant sector for charter. If you wish to offset some of the cost of ownership, more charterers are looking for this size of motor yacht or sailing yacht than for yachts above 50m.

Best sub-50m motor yachts

While yachts around the 30m mark are faster, the 40-50m market   offer many of the benefits of the smaller yachts but with much more interior volume. Volume is measured in Gross Tonnage, one gross ton being 100 cubic feet or 2.8 cubic metres. A typical 30m yacht may have a volume of around 150GT, but 40m yacht may have a volume of 350GT. Increase the length to 45m and you could have closer to 500GT. For a small increase in overall length the owner gets a lot more usable space inside.

The 45m SUNONE has an internal volume of 491GT

Build Specification

10 features included with every kraken, one piece hull and integral zero keel.

All Kraken’s comprise of a one piece hull and integral Zero Keel which houses a sealed lead ballast bulb.

The hull lay up is built using 17-22 layers of composite engineered fabrics bonded together by vinyl-ester resins. The general hull thickness is a minimum of 15mm. Aramid fibre composites (Kevlar) is also used in all impact areas, the bow stem, the front of the keel and the keel base.

The hull topsides incorporate 25mm closed cell foam, the FRP foam sandwich which extends from 40cm (16″) above the waterline to deck level. This structure improves insulation and overall hull form rigidity. A Kraken’s hull and structures exhibited no flexing.

ALPHA™ Rudder System

The rudder and steering system is the most vulnerable element of any yacht, in recognition of this, the Kraken engineering and design team have developed the world’s safest rudder and steering system.

The rudder is fully protected and supported by a full length skeg with an integral stainless steel beam, which has at its foot the first rudder bearing. The 3 ¾” (82mm) rudder stock has a second (main) bearing at its centre as it passes into the hull at the transom. This bearing is accessible and removable from the inside of transom. Even at sea!

The rudder stock has a removable third bearing at the top inside the stern lazarette. The rudder itself, comprises an integral stainless steel armature, which is welded to the stainless steel rudder stock. It is then finished and faired using FRP/vinyl-ester.

Solid crash zone at bow waterline

A heavily reinforced ‘solid crash zone’ below the anchor chain locker, incorporating high density closed cell foam with substantial reinforcements in aramid fibres extends from above the waterline to 40cm below it. This solid area runs through to the first sealed bulkhead providing maximum collision protection.

Structural frames and stringers

All longitudinal and latitudinal structures are individually bonded in during the hull layup stages with no prefabricated structural components . The video below explains how the structural frames and stringers work on a Kraken Yacht.

All bulkheads are vacuum infused FRP with 25mm structural foam core. No plywood is used. There are two watertight sealed bulkheads forward, one between the anchor locker and the forward lazarette and a second one between the forward lazarette and the interior. A further watertight, sealed bulkhead at the stern divides the interior from the aft lazarette.

The structural bulkheads are fully bonded into the hull stringers & frames.

Deck Structure

The deck is vacuum infused FRP using composite fibres and vinyl-ester resin with a structural foam core. This provides high levels of rigidity and insulation.

The deck structure is single-skin FRP around the base of all deck fittings.

The outside finish of the deck is panelled non-slip gelcoat with Flexiteek side decks and cockpit sole as standard.

Integral Kraken moulded safety bulwark

All Kraken have an Integral moulded safety bulwark with concave internal surface for superior deck safety at sea.

Saloon/coach roof windows

Ultra-high impact-resistant laminated glass is used in the wrap-around saloon windows and port lights so that accidental damage will not result in water ingress to the interior.

Hull Finishes

Standard hull gelcoat colour is Signal White. Many colour options available at owners choice.

Double line boot top in Alwgrip to owners colour choice.

3 x coats of primer and sealer applied below the waterline before standard antifoul in dark grey, other colour choices available.

Build standard and certification

All Kraken’s are designed and built to exceed ISO CE RCD Category ‘A’

Zen Yachts

The ZEN50 is a game changer. World’s first series production catamaran equipped with a wingsail, it defines a new distinctive class of its own, where genuine zero-emission meets high comfort and performance, limitlessly.

Designed from scratch for ZEN Yachts by award-winning naval architect Julien Mélot , this full carbon catamaran is the ultimate essence of technology driven, high performance and luxurious, eco-friendly leisure yachting.

The blue water capable ZEN50 lightweight racing carbon hulls are combined with a huge solar roof for an unrivaled solar power vs. displacement ratio above 1:1 (18 kW / 17 tonnes), making this yacht completely energy self-sufficient. A revolutionary, fully automated, wingsail - by Ayro© - can be added as a range and speed extender. The yacht’s high capacity battery bank powers a powerful silent electric propulsion, allowing the ZEN50 to achieve 14 knots and maintain high continuous speeds in unrivaled safety and comfort, indefinitely…

The ZEN50 is offered with or without wingsail and comes in 3 main different versions: Racer, Cruiser and Explorer, each dedicated to a different usage and owner profile. We use these versions as a basis to define a final, bespoke specification for each of our valued clients and ZEN Community Members. Scroll down for more details, specifications and prices.

50 meter sailing yacht

1st WINGSAIL series production yacht in the world!

The OceanWings32 - by Ayro© - was initially developed for Team Oracle, for the America’s Cup 2010 in Valencia. Over years, it has further been developed and automated by VPLP and was installed on Energy Observer in 2019. Two years of field feedback have allowed the Ayro team to fine tune the algorithm commanding the wingsail. The ZEN50 is the first series production leisure craft to be equipped with this fully automated wingsail. It is controlled at the touch of a finger on screens, is automatically adjusted and has several safety modes and features. The two parts of the wingsail can be hoisted and lowered independently and with the simple touch of a button. The wingsail OceanWings32 is the ideal complement for the solar roof for those wishing to cruise long distances off-shore with zero-emissions.

ZEN50 wingsail and solar powered performance zero emission electric catamaran yacht by ZEN Yachts

Greatest ratio SOLAR POWER / weight on the market

At 17 tonnes lightweight and 18,000 W of peak solar power, the ratio of the ZEN50 is at over 1 kW per displaced tonne of water or beyond 1:1 which is far beyond any other blue water CE Cat A yacht in this size range. Lots of solar power for little water to displace is the strong and healthy foundation the energy self-sufficient ZEN50 is built upon.

ZEN50 wingsail and solar powered performance zero emission electric catamaran yacht by ZEN Yachts

Performance CARBON sandwich hulls

The hulls of the ZEN50 have been designed from a blank screen for ultimate efficiency - understand minimum drag or minimal energy consumption for a range of speeds from 6 to 10 knots. Their shape is aggressive, sharp and slender. Their reverse bows cut through water like a sword cuts through butter and their curvature is reminiscent of graceful dolphin bodies. These hulls are undoubtedly of the performance type and are built with the best available composites: Carbon fibre and Corecell™. The combination of high strength, low weight and performance design allow the ZEN50 to reach speeds of up to 14 knots.

ZEN50 wingsail and solar powered performance zero emission electric catamaran yacht by ZEN Yachts

INFINITE range at high CONTINUOUS speeds

With maximized solar and wind power and minimized energy consumption… the ZEN50 can sail continuously at speeds varying between 6 and 10 knots. Thorough simulations in various sea states and weather system have consistently shown the ZEN50 will be able to achieve performance catamaran speeds continuously without using a genset. With the ZEN50, the world is your oyster and the wildest destinations are within your reach with this self-reliant vessel!

ZEN50 wingsail and solar powered performance zero emission electric catamaran yacht by ZEN Yachts

True ZERO-EMISSION operation

The first ZEN50 unit, whose construction started in March 2023, will not be equipped with a genset at all and will not have any fossil fuels onboard. The ZEN50 energy system with its very large capacity 160 kWh battery bank, has been designed to function for days in complete safety with minimal solar energy harvest and no wind. It is perfectly safe with no backup genset and operates 24/7 without any polluting emissions.

NO FUEL , no costs

Naturally, requiring no fuel to operate day in day out is great news for the environment, it is also fantastic news when sailing into remote areas where fuel bunkering might be near impossible or where the fuel quality might be an issue. Finally, it also makes a massive difference in this yacht’s costs of operation. Imagine the hundreds of liters of diesel saved over just a week, the obsolete engine maintenance schedules, the clogged filters and dirty tanks from another age… Welcome to a new burden-free, energy self-sufficient era, welcome to clean and graceful eco-yachting, welcome to ZEN Yachts.

50 meter sailing yacht

Highest SAFETY & reliability

At ZEN Yachts, we have made some design choices to attain energy self-reliance with the ZEN50 that reduces the habitable volume in the hulls, similar to performance catamarans. Where we have not and will never compromise is on safety. Our main voltage system is 48V making it perfectly safe to work on. The level of redundancy of the batteries and solar panels is 10! The main electrical architecture is split in 2 so that should anything happen on 1 hull, the entire vessel can still operate normally. There are 2 independent helm stations and the ZEN50 is packed with special safety features, nonsubmersible compartments and we can even offer an in-depth practical course on safety equipment usage and management. Sailing with the ZEN50 is not only exhilarating and clean, it is ultra safe!

50 meter sailing yacht

Unrivaled space & COMFORT

The ZEN50 offers the speeds of a performance catamaran, the comfort of a large motor yacht and the simplicity of an electric car. No less than 2 large day beds, 3 dining areas for over 10 people, 1 professional galley and 2 wet kitchens, 5 heads, up to 4 double ensuite cabins, 1 bunk double and 1 single together with both saloon and dining areas converting into extra sleeping areas, this is simply unrivaled on a 50 ft. catamaran. Add an electric tender, dive compressor, satellite internet, 2 helm stations (cockpit and flybridge), a solar roof that converts into a gigantic upper deck to enjoy the most epic sunrises and sunsets, welcome onboard the ZEN50!
