Mercedes-benz x-class yachting edition by carlex is a head-turning pick-up.

Carlex has always had a thing for the Mercedes-Benz pick-up truck. And they remake model after model even long after the premium car maker stopped production. This is how the X-Class Yachting Edition showed up.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class was, at its time, the only German premium pick-up. It raised some eyebrows. But today, after Mercedes stopped building it, Carlex Design keeps giving it chances to shine. The Polish tuning house has just built the Yachting Edition.

The X-Class failed to achieve the recognition Mercedes was dreaming of. But the tuning experts obviously saw something in it. Therefore once again, Carlex works its magic on the model and grants it with the “Yachting” designation. That is because everything about it seems inspired from luxury yachts .

What do you get in the price of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class Yachting Edition by Carlex?

The price for the tweaked variant of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class by Carlex starts at €112,000 (approximately $135,000). Could there be any other pick-up truck that is more expensive?

Carlex equipped the model with a widebody kit. The package includes fend flares and new bumpers with carbon fiber inserts. The wheels draw the attention as they seem identical to those that we get to see on the Maybach variants. The “Yachting” naming shows up on the front doors, on a black band background.

The tuning house fitted further yachting details onboard. There is a floor imitating wood and a black-and-white leather combo covers the seats and the dashboard. The floor resembles the wood used for the deck of yachts. The same pattern appears in the load bed of the X-Class.

There isn’t, of course, the slightest chance the owner of such a luxury pick-up truck would ever take it for a ride along muddy trails for a bit of offroading. Heavy loading also seems out of the question. Driving in style though should be considered.

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Yachting by Carlex Design

From commercial vehicle to a luxurious car with maybach parts: the mercedes x-class yachting, styled by carlex design..

Influences from yachting to cars and influences from cars to yachting – both industries are working on several levels together . Although the X-Class is a Mercedes, it is just commercial car based on the Nissan Navara. The Polish company Carlex Design that creates custom interiors and exterior parts for luxury cars presents the X-Class in a yachting edition.

The car features original wheels from the Maybach S650 Coupé, teak wood and a body kit with a lot of carbon fiber parts. The bicolored body reminds me of a typical yacht color scheme. Although the below part of the car is painted in porcelain, the brown is like a teak deck.

Mercedes X-Class Yachting Carlex Design

The exterior color scheme is also in the interior. Original Maybach Nappa leather in creme and brown with Zebrano wood part parts. Moreover, Recaro Sportster CS seats and a sports steering wheel. Personally, a new gearbox and a bigger screen would be the icing on the cake. Also, a fifth-wheeler version with a boat trailer could be interesting. The price of the car is about 105.000 EUR depending on the chosen base.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class you see might just be the most intriguing looking example we’ve ever seen. It comes from Pickup Design, the truck-focused division of Carlex Design, and has received a multitude of exterior and interior modifications.

The first thing you notice is the two-tone paint scheme. The X-Class’s body has been painted in gloss white, apart from the upper portion of the body which sports a shade of brown. A host of other brown accents are visible across the exterior, including a strip along the doors that denotes the vehicle as the ‘Yachting Edition.’

At the rear, Pickup Design has clad the bed in high-end wood. While the wood would be more prone to damage than the truck’s regular bed liner, we doubt the car’s owner will ever actually load something into the back.

Inside, this X-Class looks unlike any other. For starters, the tuner has applied wooden accents on the dashboard and steering wheel. Next, elements such as the seat bolsters, shift knob, handbrake, center console, and parts of the door panels have been clad in brown leather. Other surfaces, like the upper door trims, upper dashboard, and the steering wheel grips are clad in brown Alcantara.

Rounding out the interior changes are custom seats with black Alcantara center sections and wooden floor mats both up front and in the second row.

These modifications might not be the most practical for a tradesman that could use the X-Class for work, but it is definitely one way to attract attention at the worksite.

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Gets Wooden Accents Thanks to Pickup Design

x class yachting edition

Two years ago, Carlex Design’s Pickup Design studio unveiled its Yachting Edition upgrade for the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. Fast-forward today, the company released new updates for its cosmetic kit. This time, it features more faux wood trims than the original.

The new X-Class Yachting Edition keeps its two-tone exterior paint in white and brown. The Maybach-inspired wheels are also retained, and so is the wood-lined rear bed. However, Pickup Design made some changes in the front grille of the auto. Instead of the regular factory grille styling, vertical slats were incorporated behind its single louver grille bar that runs across the three-pointed star logo. The new images of the vehicle show the lack of stepping boards too.

Stepping inside the X-Class reveals a major overhaul in its upholstery. From the previous white and brown theme mirroring the exterior finish, the package introduces a more exclusive cabin-like look with more wooden accents on the dashboard, steering wheel, and floor mats. Meanwhile, the seats, shift knob, handbrake, side panels, and center console are all covered in brown Alcantara. Then, just to provide a contrasting look in its cabin, the seats are clad in black and brown Alcantara with a silver strip running vertically in the middle.

Pickup Design didn’t mention any performance boosts in its package so those who are looking to juice up the output of their X-Class should turn to Brabus or Wetterauer Engineering’s chip tuning .

The pricing of the original Pickup Design Mercedes-Benz X-Class Yachting Edition is €105,000, including the cost of the base Mercedes model it utilizes, so the updated package should be somewhere that mark.

Carlex Design Mercedes-Benz X-Class Yachting Edition Looks Fit For Maybach Customers

x class yachting edition

Pickup trucks (bakkies) are not exactly the most luxurious vehicles on the market but the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is probably leading the way in this department for now.

The team over at Carlex Design decided to take things a step further (as they usually do) to give this workhorse the ‘Maybach’ treatment.

They have called it the Yachting Edition and as you can see in these renderings, it is substantially different to the regular offerings from Mercedes.

The front grille and wheels were taken straight from the limited-edition  S650 Cabriolet , while on the inside there’s the same Nappa Porzellan leather upholstery found in the most recent Maybach-branded models.

On the outside there is a new carbon fibre body kit to give the pickup a much beefier presence made up of new front and rear bumpers, chunky wheel arches, side mirror caps, and a sports bar at the back where the bed has been covered in lovely teak.

As expected from Carlex Design the interior is as lavish as you can expect with the standard seats being replaced for Recaro Sportster seats and covered in leather. Take one look at the interior pictures and you will see there is leather almost everywhere in the same two-tone as the exterior.

Of course these changes come at quite the cost so if you are thinking about calling on Carlex Design to transform your pickup into a posh workhorse, then you will need to part with $122,330. This price includes the vehicle but price varies greatly with personal spec as well as X-Class version selected.

This Mercedes G-Wagen with wood floors is for people who can't decide between a yacht and an SUV — see inside the G63 'Yachting Edition'

  • Car-customization company Carlex Design released images of its latest creation — a luxurious Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen built specifically for fans of yachting.
  • The SUV, called the G-Yachting Edition, is based on the Mercedes-AMG G63 — a twin-turbocharged, 577-horsepower behemoth with a starting price of $156,450 from Mercedes.
  • The Carlex version has wood floors, tons of leather trim, and an intricate compass design embroidered in the ceiling.
  • The company also offers a yacht-themed package for the Mercedes X-Class pickup — complete with teak decking in the bed — but the X-Class itself was never sold in the US.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories .

Insider Today

The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen is already a display of wealth and excess, and its souped-up sibling, the 577-horsepower Mercedes-AMG G63, is completely over the top.

But one company evidently didn't think the G63 AMG was excessive enough, so it and mashed the boxy Merc up with a yacht to create one of the wildest G-Wagens on the market today.

The company, Carlex Design — which blings out car, plane, and boat interiors — has released detailed renderings of its latest project: an upgraded G-Wagen designed for yachting enthusiasts.

First brought to our attention by Autoblog , the G-Yachting Limited Edition — whose name gets right to the point — features nautical-themed accents that boat fanatics who can afford it are sure to love, like a wood-trimmed steering wheel, an embroidered compass design on the headliner, and wood decking throughout.

It comes in two exterior and two interior color options, and is available to custom order now.

See inside the lavish G-Wagen that Carlex built for "enthusiasts of luxury and marine style" below:

Customization company Carlex Design — which tricks out plane, car, and boat interiors — built a Mercedes G-Wagen specifically for yachting enthusiasts.

Meet the G-Yachting Limited Edition — a thoroughly blinged out, nautically themed SUV based on the latest-generation Mercedes-AMG G63.

x class yachting edition

The $156,450 G63 is already over the top, sporting a massive, twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.

x class yachting edition

But the folks at Carlex have found a way to take the G63 up a notch.

x class yachting edition

The main event is inside of the SUV, where there's wood decking like you might find on a yacht.

x class yachting edition

The interior comes in a dark and a light theme, and both feature an intricate compass design on the headliner.

x class yachting edition

Carlex says the SUV was created for "enthusiasts of luxury and marine style."

x class yachting edition

The interior has been decked out in leather and Alcantara ...

... and the steering wheel features leather and wood trim.

x class yachting edition

There's even wood paneling on the floors to complete the feeling of being on a boat.

x class yachting edition

On the outside, Carlex preserved the overall look and shape of the G-Wagen, but added some yacht-inspired touches — mostly in the form of the word "Yachting" etched into the car.

The spare-wheel cover has a compass etched into it to match the interior.

The Yachting-Edition G63 rides on 22-inch wheels ...

x class yachting edition

But Carlex's latest G-Wagen creation isn't its first foray into marine-themed automobiles. The company also sells a similar styling package for the Mercedes X-Class pickup, which was never sold in the US.

x class yachting edition

The X-Class Yachting package, as expected, includes teak decking in the bed ...

x class yachting edition

... and even on the tailgate.

x class yachting edition

There's also wood paneling in the passenger foot wells.

x class yachting edition

The interior features plenty of leather and faux-suede covering the seats, gear shifter, center armrest, and door panels.

x class yachting edition

And the steering wheel has been reshaped and trimmed in even more wood.

x class yachting edition

The package also includes some snazzy exterior upgrades like wheels off a Maybach.

x class yachting edition

The X-Class Yachting package will run you roughly $72,000, not including the price of the pickup. There's no word yet on pricing for the G-Yachting Limited Edition, but it likely won't come cheap either.

Mercedes X-Class By Carlex Design Is The Maybach Of Pickup Trucks

This is what happens when a navara-based pickup truck borrows features from a maybach cabrio..

Mercedes X-Class by Carlex Design

The Mercedes X-Class is arguably the most luxurious pickup truck to date, but the folks over at Carlex Design decided to kick things up a notch by giving the posh workhorse the Maybach treatment. The front grille and wheels were taken straight from the limited-edition S650 Cabriolet, while on the inside there’s the same Nappa Porzellan leather upholstery found in the most recent Maybach-branded models.

To further set it apart from the regular X-Class, the Polish specialists decided to slap on an aftermarket body kit made out of carbon fiber. It makes the pickup truck look beefier thanks to new front and rear bumpers, chunky wheel arches, side mirror caps, and a sports bar at the back where the bed has been covered in lovely teak.

In total, there 15 new components on the outside and these truly do make the X-Class stand out – also helped by the Porcelain White paint with Chocolate Brown accents. You’ll also notice several special badges and the “Yachting Edition” lettering on the sides as well as on the reworked front bumper.

Customize your X-Class:

x class yachting edition

It’s a similar story on the inside where Carlex Design went to town as far as customizing the already lavish cabin of Mercedes’ pickup truck. Gone are the standard front seats as these had to make way for a pair or Recaro Sportster seats wrapped in leather. Speaking of which, there’s leather just about everywhere you look, and it comes in the same two-tone look to complement the exterior.

To accentuate the connection with the body, there’s wood on the dashboard and even on the reshaped steering wheel partially clad in white leather. The headliner has been covered in Alcantara with an embroidered motif and even the back of the center console makes generous use of leather. As a matter of fact, it’s quite difficult to find an area inside the cabin that has been left untouched by Carlex Design.

As you’d come to expect, all these changes come at a cost. A complete makeover costs a steep €105,000 (including the vehicle), which works out to $122,330. However, the final price tag greatly depends on the sort of upgrades you want and obviously on the X-Class version. No production numbers have been specified, by conversions will be “limited,” so better act fast.

We have found the Mercedes-Benz X-Class amazing for a number reasons. First, driving it is an experience comparable to that of an SUV, which is new quality in the world of tough pickups, and one of the latest trends: pickups manufacturers try to “smoothen” their cars, so that they are commercial vehicles ensuring a comfortable ride. Next, the standard interior of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is quite cosy, comfortable, and equipped with a few gadgets to be found in premium cars, like USB docks, Bluetooth, or a touch GPS. The style is that of top Mercedes-Benz models, which has been a perfect starting point for conversions that meet the requirements of premium customers.

It is the interior of the car that should be luxury. Carlex Design implemented a number of solutions employed by Mercedes-Benz and Maybach, like original Nappa Porzellan leather (to be found in the latest models of Maybach), characterised by a very soft touch and natural structure.

Full grain leather in the automotive industry is the most exclusive and desirable product. Working with such material is a pure pleasure and the results are always great.

Besides the leather inside the X-Class Yachting Edition, a large amount of Alcantara and exotic wood was used. As a result, we have received the interior of the pickup, which with the precision of workmanship, the range of modifications and quality of materials used will satisfy the needs of the most demanding users. On the exterior you will find some interesting changes as well. In the foreground, we have a new body kit, which consists of 15 elements.

The body kit was recently presented on the Mercedes X-Class Urban by Pickup Design but for this project a carbon body kit was made using new moulds.

The car also features teak, original Maybach S650 Coupe wheels and grille. The body was painted porcelain white and chocolate brown and a marked with limited edition symbol. The cars will be built exclusively at Carlex Design branches and their quantities will be limited. The approximate price of a car, depending on the base version, is approx. 105.000 Euro.

Below we present the specification of the modification.

  • a carbon body kit, comprising a front bumper, a bonnet cover, a rear bumper, a roof spoiler, wheel arches, and rear light frames;
  • carbon mirror covers;
  • a Maybach S650 Cabrio grille;
  • Maybach S650 Cabrio rims;
  • A carbon Style Bar by Pickup Design
  • a tonneau padded with teak;
  • styling stickers and Limited Edition emblems.
  • leather Recaro Sportster seats, benches and door panels
  • wooden seat back;
  • dashboard: leather and wood;
  • reshaped steering wheel, wooden inserts, laser-engraved motifs, leather trim;
  • headliner made of Alcantara with an embroidered motif of the flower of the winds;
  • additional emblems and laser-engraved motifs.
