It’s all about soaking up the sun on the open-air flybridge, where an L-shaped white leather sofa is joined by a compact wet-bar station with chilled storage and a sink, along with room to aft for a set of sun loungers or tender storage. Up front you will encounter a pair of pedestal seats facing a central helm station with immense visibility and equipment like a tilting steering wheel, Simrad autopilot, digital throttles, a Raymarine E80 display screen, a Ritchie compass and hand-held VHF, along with room on the dashboard for extras of your choice.

On the foredeck there is a wide sunpad with marina-facing views, while a waterside aft-deck boasts slick white surfaces, soaring structural supports, a white leather transom sofa, space for a dining table and a chunky wet-bar station with a sink, a grill, chilled storage and even a hidden HDTV. A transom gate leads out to a full-beam bathing platform with a telescopic swim ladder perfect for enjoying warm-water swimming adventures.

A pair of glazed doors lead into a stunning main-deck salon with plush carpeting, cherrywood surrounds, two tiers of dramatic glazing, atrium windows and cathedral-like dimensions thanks to a sunken floor and a raised ceiling. A tan leather sofa, a pair of cushioned armchairs hugging a side table and a dining booth with two sofas can be found in here, while a mezzanine galley impresses with a full-height Nova Kool fridge-freezer, a Sharp combination oven, a multi-zone hob, granite-effect countertops, a wide sink and an integrated coffee maker. Instead of the traditional lower-deck Carver have instead opted for two entirely separate staterooms at either end of the yacht. To the bow there is a VIP stateroom with a skylight, a double bed, a cedar-lined closet and a swish en-suite bathroom, while to aft there is a full-beam master stateroom with a queen-sized bed, a work-desk, porthole hull windows, masses of storage and a bathroom with a wet-room waterfall shower.

There are a range of engine options available to power this sublime watercraft, with a pair of 385HP Crusader 8.1MPI shaft-drives fitted as standard. Upgrade to a pair of 480HP Yanmars, a twin-set of 460HP Caterpillar C7 Acert diesels or even two 435HP Volvo Penta shaft-drives for an extra burst of propulsion that should see your Carver 47 reach top speeds of around 30 knots. At a 22-knot cruising pace you will be able to traverse sparkling coastal waters for days on end thanks to a 562-gallon fuel tank.

Accommodation

Boarding the vessel is easiest by stepping onto the very large swim platform which is quite low to the water. I expect it is a perfect place for lounging after swimming and an easy place to deploy your kayak or paddleboards. A fisherman might find this a good place to cast their lines. At night the boat is highlighted by the “Lumishore” underwater lights to call people to your party or create a beautiful, welcoming scene. There is a double transom gate to the cockpit which is also a nice private deck space for the master stateroom. The stateroom may be accessed via a large water tight door. There is also a hot/cold freshwater shower in the cockpit area.

To port are molded steps leading to the expansive sundeck. The sundeck and flybridge are covered with a hardtop and completely enclosed with canvas and isinglass. The sundeck has a custom-fit snap-down carpet. A large settee, with storage, faces forward. A wet bar with icemaker and storage are to starboard and a cabinet above holds a TV to watch games or a movie with a crowd, and extra glass and barware. Acrylic wing doors open to the port and starboard side decks which lead to the bow; easy to deploy fenders or the anchor. A wide sun pad invites you to enjoy the sunshine, relax and read a book.

Molded steps lead to the flybridge and helm station from the sundeck. Guests and the captain will be comfortable with a settee to starboard, two centerline side-by-side captain’s chairs and a bar/buffet area to port. The helm station is complete with Raymarine E80 MFD, Sidepower Bow and Stern thruster controls (plus a remote to aid in docking), Simrad Autopilot, Engine controls and gauges, Lectrotab trim tab controls, compass and stereo.

The owner purchased this boat after it sustained smoke damage caused by an unattended candle starting a curtain in the salon on fire. The owner reports that it did not affect any wiring, navigational equipment or mechanical systems. The smoke damage did require extensive cleaning of the cherry cabinetry, replacing and recovering the interior wall and ceiling coverings, the leather dinette settee and bolsters, and a few other soft goods. To my eye this restoration work appears flawless. The owner has operated the boat since completing the remodel and reports that the boat performs to full expectation.

The companionway from the sundeck enters the main full beam salon area. The windows, high ceilings and full beam areas give this boat a very expansive feeling. The salon and galley interiors are completely new and beautifully appointed with cream and butterscotch tones. The cherry wood cabinets and fixtures are good quality furnishings throughout the boat. They have all been cleaned and refinished as well; the interior is quite beautiful and feels new.

Heating and cooling is provided by a three-zone system by Marine Air Systems, 12,000BTUs each. A convenient central vacuum system is the answer to not taking up valuable storage with a traditional vacuum.

Currently there are barrel chairs on either side of the salon area. It is easy to imagine a sleeper sofa to one side as well which would create an additional sleeping area. There are four brand new TV’s onboard: sundeck, salon, aft cabin and forward stateroom. The stereo system has speakers throughout the boat as well. The windows are tinted and shaped in a way that gives a sense of privacy inside but allows light into the spaces. There doesn’t seem a need for blinds or curtains as I find it difficult to see in to the cabin area when standing on the dock. New pulsating, color changing LED rope lights add a fun party atmosphere to the boat; they may also be steady for added color or light.

Access to the engine compartment is via the salon sole. There is quite a bit of room to work on the engines and the generator. It is clean and well organized.

Moving forward and down a few steps is the galley and dinette area. The dinette easily seats four people. The galley includes a NovaKool refrigerator and freezer, flat surface two-burner electric stove, stainless sink, built-in coffee maker and microwave. Overhead lighting as well as the large cabin windows and very high ceiling give this area a very spacious feeling. A separate head with private entrance to the forward stateroom is starboard. The forward stateroom has a full side-to-side v-berth with storage below. A separate shower is situated on the port side.

The aft cabin is down a few steps from the salon and is full beam as well. The queen pedestal bed lies athwartship with hanging lockers and storage cabinets to the sides and above the bed. The ensuite head includes a separate standing shower, toilet, sink and storage. There is also a vanity table in the stateroom with a mirror, electrical outlets and storage. A very large window provides light and a view of the cockpit and swim step. A private door leads to the cockpit where you might imagine a relaxing glass of wine or early morning cup of coffee.

This boat truly seems much larger than its nominal length and I can imagine you could entertain quite a crowd in style!

Description

The Carver 450 Voyager Pilothouse has two very large and spacious double cabins below, both with ensuite heads. REFUND POLICY: 50% refund 7 days prior to cancellation. 85% refund 14 days prior to cancellation. 100% refund one month prior to cancellation. No refund for cancellations 6 days or less prior to departure. Refunds will not be provided due to acts of Mother Nature or God, i.e., inclement weather, small craft advisories, waves over 3 feet high, rip tides and coast guard warnings. You will have the option to postpone your charter and change it to a different date. You will however, receive a 100% refund if I cancel your charter for reasons that I am responsible for. Inside business | hampton waterfront property, formerly wanchese fish site, on the market for $4 million.

The 3.4-acre site in the Phoebus section of Hampton had been where wild-caught scallops, shrimp, oysters and other seafood arrived for processing and packing at Wanchese Fish Co. for decades before the operation relocated to Newport News two years ago.

The property at 28-38, 48 and 52 Water St. was listed in May for $4 million with Hampton Carver, principal with Richmond-based CarverCo, handling the sale. Zoned for mixed-use development, the site includes over-water development rights with 10 feet of water depth at its docks.

“The site’s transition from long-time seafood waterfront to mixed-use illustrates the transition of Hampton Roads’ economy from seafood-centric to one of residential and commercial uses,” Carver said.

Interested parties to date have included restaurant owners and residential developers.

“I think it really presents itself as a lifestyle development on the water. …The views are such that it really demands a high-quality product,” Carver said. “I think it could be a real hub to help kick off more development in the area.”

Water Street, accessible by foot, bike, car and boat, is situated between the historic village of Phoebus’ growing restaurant district and Fort Monroe’s more than 500 acres of parklike amenities, including beaches and walking trails. Virginia Capital Trail, in cooperation with the Tidewater Trail Alliance, is planning a bike trail from Richmond to Fort Monroe that will run adjacent to Water Street.

A familiar marker to generations of residents and visitors, the property is visible to more than 3 million vehicles that traverse the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel each month, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Carver referred to the site — noted as a gateway property by the city — as a local landmark for Interstate 64 travelers.

“I remember it as a child. We would always look over there and see the shrimp, scallop and other fishing boats,” Carver said. “The working waterfronts — from the standpoint of seafood, the culture of the watermen and people working on the water — are diminishing. It’s sad to see it, but it’s just an interesting feature of the changing economies.”

Wanchese Fish Co., which dates back to 1936, was based in Manteo, North Carolina. Canadian-based Cooke Seafood bought the company in 2015 and relocated the Phoebus operation to the Seafood Industrial Park in Newport News due to a need for larger dock facilities. The company maintains a corporate office and processing facility in Suffolk.

While Carver said part of him is sad to see the transition, he also wants to make sure the property is positioned to be a long-term asset for Hampton and Phoebus because of the catalyst it could be for further development.

“I believe Water Street’s future includes high-quality multifamily and waterfront restaurant/marina uses and that its development will catalyze Phoebus’ emergence as a center for investment and development,” he said.
