Launched in 2012 by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, Blue Marine Yacht Club (BMYC) was formed to unite the world’s yachting community in a clear mission to protect our oceans.

The BMYC brings a modern approach to environmental protection. Whether a yacht owner or company, the BMYC provides a platform in which supporters can express their concern for the ocean and desire to protect its future. By donating, providing their support and expertise, they are part of a project that is bringing about real change in the way our oceans are cared for. They are providing a legacy for the world that their children and grandchildren will look back on with pride.

All donations received through the BMYC go directly to support Blue Marine’s work around the world and its mission of protecting at least 30% of the world’s ocean by 2030.

BMYC members play an active role in ensuring that our seas remain a resource to be enjoyed by future generations. It is only through acting together that we can really make a difference.

Supporters of BMYC are recognised by three tiers of membership which indicate the level of commitment and their donation to Blue Marine and the ocean environment.

Since its launch, the BMYC has attracted influential supporters from the yachting industry including: Ernesto and Kirsty Bertarelli, Sir Charles Dunstone, Peter Lürssen, Winch Design, Imperial Yachts, Benetti, Feadship, Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Matthew Freud, and Simon Le Bon among others.

Superyacht industry raises €1m for Blue Marine Foundation

Leading figures from the superyacht industry have raised more than €1 million for the Blue Marine Foundation (Blue), following an appeal at the World Superyacht Awards in September .

During the event, Peter Lürssen, managing partner of Lürssen , and Lars Windhorst, the new owner of Nobiskrug , each pledged €250,000 to Blue if their donations could be matched, to bring the total commitment to €1 million.

The target was reached after seven further donations were made by members of the superyacht community following a renewed appeal at Blue's members' dinner during the Monaco Yacht Show .

Blue's mission is to see 30% of the world's ocean under effective protection by 2030, through the creation of marine reserves, the restoration of vital habitats and the promotion of sustainable fishing.

BOAT International partners with Blue on the annual Ocean Awards, which celebrate the scientists, campaigners and innovators working to protect the oceans. See the winners of the 2021 Ocean Awards .

Peter Lurssen said: “The yachting industry must realise that a healthy and beautiful ocean environment is the basis not only for the yachting world but for the whole world and it is therefore in our interest to protect the marine environment.

"The World Superyacht Awards have provided a great opportunity to raise money for this worthy cause and therefore I committed to challenge the audience to match my donation."

Sara-Jane Skinner, head of partnerships at Blue, added: "We are bowled over by the generosity of this extraordinary industry, who collectively prove time and again their vision and determination to restore the health of the ocean."

Welcome to the home page of Blue Marine & Fibreglass, a Melbourne based company specialising in the construction of fibreglass yachts.

Company Profile

Blue Marine was founded in 1980 with an initial charter to fit out yacht hulls supplied by others. This progressed into the manufacture of yachts from drawings to completion and commissioning. These range in size from seven metres to the latest, which is a fifteen metre cruising yacht.

Vivid blue marine has for sale a beautiful & spacious lustrous black-hulled norfolk smuggler sailing yacht. the perfect vessel for sailing and cruising. very stable and fast, and with a spacious cabin and cockpit, she's an excellent family boat. Yacht Crew Travel with Ease

Our friends at Meridian° Crew reached out to us with a couple of questions about travelling during Covid times

How have things changed for you with the crew since the Pandemic?

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been multiple times with different countries that travel restrictions have been placed on entry.  For the majority of Countries, maritime workers have been deemed as essential workers, so we have been able to travel most crew to and from the yachts that they are joining.  However, routes have been interesting at times trying to circumnavigate the latest entry/transit information from country to country.   Airlines also have many rules with regards to testing prior to travel, uploading of documents required for travel, etc.  This means that agents here at Blue Marine Travel are having to double/triple check requirements for each individual traveler right up until departure to make sure all rules and regulations are being followed.

Who do you think has been the most impacted impact from the pandemic?

The rotational crew has certainly been impacted heavily with regard to the pandemic.  Whether that be having to quarantine or self-isolate multiple times and to the extreme where they have not been able to travel due to country closures.  For instance, here in New Zealand, we have seen crew unable to enter as the country has taken a hard stance on travelers entering, including maritime workers.  This then impacts crew who are already on board and due to sign off at the end of their rotation.  What should have been a 1- or 2-month period onboard then turns into 6 months or even longer as their relief is unable to get to the yacht.

Do you have any general travel advice for yacht crew?

Please use a reputable marine travel provider for any bookings.  Two years into the pandemic regulations and restrictions still change daily.  What may have been viable as a route to travel one week, may not be an option a week later when travel rules change.  We have seen numerous instances where the crew has tried to book their own travel via an online travel website.  Unfortunately, these websites will not tell you if you are able to travel on the route that is offered, whether that be because of airlines canceling flights or the route offered is not valid for their particular nationality at that time.  We have had calls from marine crew asking us to help as they are stuck at an airport unable to travel as they have not been informed of what is needed to travel from the online travel website they have booked from. If crew book through a specialized marine travel provider such as Blue Marine Travel, they will always have access to the latest information with regards to travel and only be offered routes that they can actually make.

What is the best way to find Visa advice for the crew in the industry?

For crew looking for visa advice, please feel free to reach out to Blue Marine Travel.  Although we do not specifically apply for visas on the crew’s behalf, we can advise if visas are needed for the journeys that are being taken.  Local Port Agents where the yacht is based will also be able to advise what visa requirements would be needed for entry into that specific country.

What are the top five travel destinations for the crew in 2022?

As the pandemic continues it is almost impossible to advise what travel destinations will be ‘hot’ this year.  As in 2020 and 2021, it really depends on the latest restrictions, where the crew are traveling from, and also their vaccination status.  In the current climate, it is almost impossible to pre-plan any holidays, etc. as the situation continues to evolve.
