A Custom made 41 foot Catamaran with twin diesel inboards priced under $100k.  Originally commissioned in 1981 on Long Island, New York and sailed to the Bahamas, Cuba and East Coast.  This boat was way before it's time as per renown Multihull expert Charles Kantner.  Two cabin, Two head layout with large salon and galley on bridgedeck.  4.2 kw diesel Genset in Workshop is in the forward starboard hull while the portside forward hull has nice head with shower.  One Mermaid AC unit cools down portside hull.    Solid rigging with Profurl furler on Genoa. Brand new full battened mainsail was made in 2007 and designed for ocean cruising.  Nice super structure with fiberglass hardtop over cockpit, skeg protected spade rudders and more.  Her 2.6 foot shallow draft and 19'3" beam is ideal for anchoring in well protected areas during inclimate weather or for journeying to where others can not safely access.  Yamaha 15 hp 2 stroke outboard is on Caribe dinghy hanging from davits.

This is a great deal for someone on a limited budget looking for cruise ready catamaran.

The smallest model in Catana’s current range, the 41 which quickly became the 42, was launched 10 years ago now… Recent (good) second-hand examples of this fast, seductive catamaran are not to be missed!

Back in 2008, Catana launched their 41: This was good news because the yard, which had become focused on larger and larger models, was now looking at a much more reasonable-sized boat - and so was back in the spirit of the very first Catana. We are talking about a catamaran which is significantly lighter than its competitors of the same length: around 9 tons as opposed to 11.5 for the new Fountaine-Pajot, or 12.1 for the Lagoon 42. Note that these two boats however, are more aimed toward comfort, offering much higher volume. The Catana 41 is therefore a high-end unit, with high performance and recognized sea-keeping qualities. Two years after its launch, the shipyard reviewed the accommodation layout in the nacelle and for sail handling on deck. The 41 then became the 42. To date there have been about fifty examples built, and there are some available on the second hand market: at the time of writing, there are 5 currently being offered for sale.

The Cay Sal 41 model is a true planing hull catamaran.   As such, the design merges the best attributes of catamaran performance while retaining some familiar performance characteristics of a mono hull.   For mono hull similarity, the 41 lightly leans into soft turns and aggressively leans into hard turns.

With the 41' x 14' wide platform of our 41 models, we are afforded exceptional flexibility on topside layouts and tooling.  From a performance standpoint, the pilot house (PH) is by all accounts the same as our center console (CC) model but with additional comfort benefits of a fully enclosed 2 or 3 row pilot house.

We have engaged with reputable naval architects to provide renderings and engineering of these hulls with modern outboard power as well as updated and stylish seating, furniture, hardware and electronics.

The Catana 41 is a fast cruising catamaran with slim, lightweight asymmetrical hulls. Dagger boards enhance efficiency and a high bridge deck clearance avoids wave slapping. Both of these design aspects ensure excellent performance to windward. Lift boards allow you to get a front row when anchoring. Four well appointed double cabins serviced by two heads. Two years after its launch the 41 became today's popular charter boat the Catana 42.

Inside this boat everything has been planned to ensure your satisfaction. The chart table holds all the latest electronic navigation equipment, the galley is practical and well-ventilated with excellent storage space, and the saloon is open and comfortable. 

The cabins are spacious with a splendid view over the sea through the generousportholes, further increasing the sense of space. In the main cabin a large bed, ample hanging locker, plenty of storage and a desk all fit in comfortably.

Rating: 4 / 5 The boat was well maintained with everything in good working order. Sail systems are easy to use, especially with the electric winch and the Catana sailed beautifully. Personally I do not like the steering stations at the stern of each hull as visibility to the opposite side is poor. But I knew that before we booked. The GPS is located inside the saloon which makes navigating more difficult compared to having a map alongside the steering. Overall a very comfortable sailing boat for 2 families. Vanilla tour of Tahaa was amazing with Noah. Bora Bora is beautiful, though of course very touristy. Managed to swin with many reef sharks, eagle rays and a manta. Taputapuatea is worth the effort to visit being the centre of Polynesian migrations. Your service was great. Quick responses to most questions and patience during the many changes. Indiana mom who died on plane coming home from Dominican Republic died of natural causes

The Indiana mom who perished last month while flying home from vacation in the Dominican Republic died from a tear to one of her neck arteries, her brother said Thursday.

Stefanie Smith, a 41-year-old mother of two teenagers from Danville, suffered a carotid artery dissection, Chris Volz said.

This condition, which affects the major blood vessels that supply blood to the brain, is the most common cause of strokes in younger patients, according to  Penn Medicine  and the  National Library of Medicine .

Smith was flying home on flying on Feb. 28. when she suddenly went into convulsions and the plane was diverted to the Turks and Caicos where she died at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, according to  The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force .

Volz said earlier that he was not aware of his sister having any pre-existing health conditions. He said she was an avid exerciser who continued to work out even while on vacation with her boyfriend.

Smith's body is expected to be returned to Indiana sometime next week, Volz said.

WHITING, Ind. (AP) — BP’s sprawling oil refinery in northwest Indiana has resumed normal operations more than six weeks after a power outage prompted the energy giant to temporarily shut down the complex and evacuate workers.

BP spokesperson Christina Audisho said Tuesday that “the Whiting Refinery is back to normal operations” at the site along Lake Michigan some 15 miles (24 kilometers) southeast of Chicago.

The refinery is the largest in the U.S. Midwest and sixth-largest nationally, processing about 440,000 barrels of crude oil daily, making a variety of liquid fuels and asphalt.

On Feb. 1, a power outage prompted BP to shut down the refinery complex, evacuate workers and begin flaring its stacks, which are designed to burn off remaining fuel stock in the refinery’s system to relieve pressure and avert explosions.

The flaring stacks sent large clouds of smoke over the lakefront, causing residents to report smelling the odor more than 20 miles (32 kilometers) away, including in communities in neighboring Illinois, The Times of Northwest Indiana reported.

BP sent home hundreds of contractors for days as it worked to get its units up and running, gradually ramping up production to normal, the newspaper reported. The outage and temporary shutdown caused gas prices to rise in northwest Indiana and around the Midwest and stay elevated for weeks.
