Absolute Yachts in Italy calls the 50 Fly its “absolute achievement” in terms of size, comfort and livability.

The design of the 50 Fly includes uninterrupted windows for broad views of the surrounding sea. The cockpit can connect directly to the galley, where a sofa becomes a sun lounger. Up on the flybridge, guests will find a table, seating, sun loungers and more. An additional sunbathing area is at the bow, accessed via a protected walkway.

Also on the Absolute 50 Fly are practical features for extended cruising. Furniture on the main deck is designed to create additional stowage. New air conditioning systems also should enhance the onboard experience during longer cruises.

Accommodations include a full-beam (14′6″), ensuite master stateroom in the center of the yacht, which is the location that usually has the most comfortable motion at sea. There are no pillars in this stateroom’s windows, allowing for wide views.

There’s also a full-beam, ensuite VIP stateroom. The third guest stateroom has a walk-in closet, and the crew cabin aft can be used for extra guests.

Owner-operators, take note: There is a side door near the helm on the Absolute 50 Fly. The door is a useful feature during docking and other maneuvers.

Absolute 50 Fly review: From the archives

While a lot has been made of the likes of Princess and Sealine launching their first ever IPS-powered flybridge boats, Absolute was most likely wondering what all the fuss was about. The Piacenza-based yard has been installing Volvo’s pods on its flybridge models for years and has proven its knowledge and application of the system is excellent. So it is hardly a surprise they are going down that route with their latest, the Absolute 50 Fly.

Here’s the thing, though. Even with its extensive knowledge of IPS, is the decision to have the 435hp IPS600 units as the sole engine option short sighted? This is a big 50ft boat and when you consider that even the smaller and lighter Princess 49 uses 550hp IPS700s, you can see where the Absolute may fall short.

The Sealine F530 we tested had the 600s and felt underpowered but it does have the option of the larger motors, and Sunseeker , to avoid any doubt, only fits 725hp engines whether you choose shafts or pods.

The conditions for our test were hardly taxing, with bright sunshine, light winds and a Mercury-smooth sea greeting us outside the Marina di Varazze on Italy’s Liguria coast. In such wonderful weather, any potential lack of power wasn’t noticeable in the slightest.

The Absolute 50 Fly rose on to the plane without fuss and remained quiet and refined all the way up to a top speed of 28 knots with the engines pulling 50rpm short of their maximum. That, however, was 28 knots without waves to contend with, a clean hull and no cruising gear whatsoever.

The concern is how the performance might be affected by some weed growth on the hull and pods and your average family’s cruising kit. Absolute has plastered the smartly laid-out engineroom with soundproofing and that shows in the sound readings. Even though one would think the engines are working quite hard to shift such a hefty boat, the hushed ride is one thing that stands out on the Absolute 50 Fly.

It helps, of course, that IPS sets the engines such a long way back in the hull so on top of insulation, a deck hatch and cockpit doors, you have sheer distance on your side too.

The lower helm is excellent and mimics the design of a couple of the larger Absolute flybridge boats I’ve tested. What I like most is that you can very comfortably stand to drive, something I always like to do if the conditions are rough.

The 50 is a tall boat and to my eyes not the prettiest, but once inside – and this is a theme with many of the yard’s boats – the space is remarkable. So yes it looks top heavy, but being able stand up at the helm and escape through a side door on to the decks is particularly useful. The helm looks great too, with a clean and simple switchgear layout, quality materials and space for two 12in screens.

The combination of average performance and sedate steering means the 50 isn’t the last word in sporty handling. If you want a more exciting driving experience then the 36-knot Princess 49 or beautifully balanced Sunseeker Manhattan 52 are going to be more to your taste, whereas the Absolute 50 Fly sits alongside the Sealine at the more sedate end of the spectrum.

In fact, at times, the huge turning circle and lazy steering became quite tiresome with even the increased exposure and height of the upper helm failing to up the enjoyment levels. Again, the lack of dynamism is compensated for by a helm station on the flybridge that is well designed, comfortable and endowed with plenty of adjustment.

The twin helm chairs are lovely, with comfortable bolsters and plenty of lumbar support. Both seats slide and, like downstairs, it’s easy to flip the cushion up and lean if you want a better view forward.

Boat for your buck

As well as a chair in front of the helm for a navigator, there is also an L-shaped seating area to port where two or three could sit and enjoy the journey and even more could congregate on the sunpads forward of the helm if conditions allow.

The hardtop fitted to our test boat is not standard but the yard is unlikely to send many out of the factory without one. It doesn’t help with the boat’s skyscraper styling but it adds some finesse, and a sliding hatch means you can open the top deck up to the sun.

No new 50-odd-footer worth its salt goes without some sort of foredeck seating area, and true to form, the Absolute has its own take. Furthest forward there is a triple sunpad with hinging backrests and aft of that is a low bench with a backrest and slim walkway to allow quick movement from side deck to side deck.

Absolute does fine detail well and the inclusion of large cupholders, speakers and a repeater for the Fusion stereo system are a good example of that. It really is a quality piece of kit all over.

Mouldings are smooth and substantial, the stainless steel is immaculate and cabinetry is top notch. Crockery and glassware is stowed in fiddled drawers on soft-close runners, the bathroomware is high end and stylish and doors click shut on to anti-rattle pads.

The Absolute 50 Fly is not a cheap boat; the starting price is around £75,000 more than an equal-spec Princess 49 (though the 49 is quite a bit smaller and has no crew cabin) and there’s an even bigger gap between the Italian boat and the Sealine F530 with the same engines.

It has to be said though, that the Absolute feels the more expensive product with a finish that is a level above the Sealine and on par with the Princess and Sunseeker. The Sunseeker is nearly £180,000 more than the Absolute, though it is substantially bigger (and feels it) and has 650hp more. Whether these differences are worth that much more money is up for debate, especially when there is such an undeniable overlap in styling.

With all the excitement around foredeck seating, it’s important not to forget the role the cockpit plays in the way a flybridge cruiser works. With its galley located aft in the saloon, the cockpit is easily served and with a decent overhang and the option to have full covers, it’s an outdoor area that can be used come rain or shine.

At first glance, it seems odd for the yard to have squeezed a small sunpad into this area, but what’s not immediately obvious is that you can slide the headrests towards the cockpit, slot in some cushions and end up with a full-size three-person sunpad. On the transom is the option of a concealed grill for waterside BBQs and unlike the Sunseeker, this bar also has a sink so you can clean up easily.

Inside the saloon, a step up from galley level takes you into the main internal seating area, where you feel the benefit of those gigantic saloon windows the most. The seating is spread across the full width of the saloon with the television stowing neatly behind the sofa on the starboard side.

There are more quality touches here, like the table which has a chunky walnut top, a pedestal that looks like it could take a direct hit from a missile and beautifully machined supports that slide out to sit beneath the unfolded table leaves.

Absolute 50 Fly’s accommodation

The accommodation is where you feel the most benefit from the boat’s height, especially in the midships master cabin which has bags of headroom and an almost totally flat floor, save for small ridges on either side of the bed. There’s no messing around with chaise longues or mini dinettes, just a compact sofa and a big dresser opposite with a decent amount of drawer storage. The ensuite is lovely and gets a really spacious shower cubicle with an offset sink tucked in the corner.

The VIP cabin is a beauty and as well as a fabulous ensuite (that is also the day heads and shared with the twin guest cabin), it has huge amounts of natural light thanks to the massive triple windows on either side and a large, round opening port to supply a bit of ventilation.

The crew cabin is an €11,800 option but it’s a good one to have. Its size and the fact that it has its own toilet means you could host guests here for the occasional night. And if not, just pack it full of gear and use it as a very well-furnished lazarette.

The 50 Fly is a boat with a lot going for it but there will be that question mark over mid-season performance with the solitary engine choice and no option to upgrade. That being said, on the evidence of this test and this test alone, the performance was perfectly good, unless you’re after a boat that can cruise at 30 knots. And if it’s an enticing driving experience you’re after then the laid-back 50 Fly may leave you feeling a little cold with its woolly steering and ponderous turning circle. If you’re satisfied with the performance then there’s an awful lot to like on board and a massive amount of space to enjoy. The deck spaces are cleverly designed and equally generous, and the interior is as spacious and comfortable as it is bursting with natural light. The fit and finish is very impressive and a genuine air of quality helps justify its bullish pricing. The two things which may hold it back, at least in Britain, is the lack of a UK dealer and a brand name that many British buyers still consider to be a fringe player. These things can all be changed, of course – in many Mediterranean countries, Absolute is already held in high esteem, but it will take time and money to lure British buyers away from the wealth of homegrown talent. Make no mistake though, the 50 Fly is a very good boat that deserves to be considered alongside the likes of Sealine, Princess and Sunseeker.

The first time we have seen the ABSOLUTE 50 FLY , he was lost among all, in the confused artificial hall shows of Dusseldorf.  At that event, most probably, we did not notice one of the numerous important properties of boat: the large quantity of allowed room applied in the best solution, to meet the wishes of people who loves cruises.  In one, word the comfort aiming better match both, the human presence and the surrounding in which they live.

Few weeks ago, we have been in Varazze to test this Yacht,   we want to meet him in his natural environment:  the sea.  We have totally understand the real reason why this boat has win the EUROPEAN POWERBOAT OF THE YEAR 2017 prize.   The international jury has written –   ABSOLUTE 50 FLY englobes perfectly the Italian design, the arrangement of space and a remarkable performances in security and easy guiding.    Although his length is less than 50 feet, this yacht has the quality in comfort and dimensions of higher categories .

We agree: to go on board of this yacht, you feel like to enter in the typical spaces of bigger boats but the jury will forgive us, this is a limited sentence!   Going further to the capacity of obtaining spaces, the man who has designed and constructed this boat, has concretizes a vision inside which, the space moves, breaths and follows the movements of the person who lives in it.

External view

Back to the cockpit and climbing the stair that lead to the Fly, we reach to one of the biggest frlybridge ever seen in a 50 feet long yach t.  First for its extension, which run from the windscreen to the end of the stern, a plane created by the top of the cockpit, and further for the free communication between the spaces . At this level, we find a table located on the further part of the bridge surrounded by a U shaped divan, a cooking corner, the double seat posting for the pilot and a new sunbath place two by three meters large. What else you can obtain in a so designed surface?

The well protected starboard to the bow , where a divan is located just under the windscreen and the bulwarks join, creates a third sunbath and relaxing place .

Even only by describing it, the Absolute 50 Fly seams bigger of his 15 meters long. The alternate use of the spaces, their different possibility of use, the harmonic transit ways between one room to another without any step or difference in level , often existing in other boats, give strength to the motivation why the jury have choose this Absolute 50 fly  as the boat of the year. We also believe in the performance capacity of Absolute.

Internal view

THE internal surrounding distribution follow the same setting on the external. The option to leave only one meter and half from the divan and the step of the dinette, allow this room to be considered as one of a bigger dimensions yacht.

Even here are the organization choice, which improves the spaces. For example, the kitchen is located at the entrance on the left, accommodated in a corner and separated from the room by sliding glasses. In this solution you may decide either to choose two different rooms or by sliding the glasses, to have a single large room. Bur overall, the kitchen is communicating directly with the cockpit , solution that, during the good season, improve both the spaces.

As experience in the boat yards teaches, the dashboard is ergonomics but on the bridge, there is a shrewdness, which differs it from the control bridge of other yacht of the same dimensions, and it is a door, which allows the captain to enter immediately to the starboard.

The rest zone has three cabins and two bathrooms . The owner’s cabin in located in the middle of boat, it has therefore the disposal of very large spaces which are really very well used for the stowage. Remarkable are the soberness and the style of the furnishing . At the bow, there is the VIP cabin, which even if it is not as big as the owner is surely is similar in the choice of the furniture, then the guest cabin with two large beds. At the end, a sailor cabin in foreseen located at bow.

Test at the sea

The Absolute 50Fly IS powered by two Volvo Penta D6 Ips 600 .  A system that the shipyard of Podenzano has adopted from years and which has reach to define specific hulls for this kind of engine. The result is a strong stability and an excellent control in limited areas.

We leave the mooring of Varazze port, using the Joystick with astonishing simplicity . We left the slip and we operate without touching the hand levers, having a more effective adjustment of the low speed requested until the entrance of the port.

Out on the sea smooth as silk, we progressively give power to the engine. As we though we found the properties of the Absolute hulls : strong balance, excellent weight balancing which allows rapid change of speed maintaining an excellent equilibrium.

We tried some turns, soft range at the beginning then more narrow range, noting positively the stability of the boat. In spite the length being 15 meters, the stern follows the trajectory without tailing out . When we tried some multiple turns , the boat gain the equilibrium without starting any pendulum movement , what could happen in less equilibrated hulls in this situations.

We push the engine at the maximum (3500 t/s) reaching to a maximum speed of 30 Knots and noticed the very low fuel consume , 170 liters per hour. The start of gliding in less than 11 seconds, from zero to 15 knots of speed.

To underline the efficacy of the two Volvo engine Ips 600 , which reach at the maximum strength at 1500/1660 turn. Mainly for they allow very low consume, which are at the speed of 22 knots 110 liters per hour. Other remarkable prize is the noiseless, this also due to the material employed to construct the Absolute 50 Fly, which we have the opportunity to appreciate sailing at the maximum speed and with the entrance door open.

Finally, we believe that the shipyard of Piacenza reaches, through this boat, a not easy goal: the equilibrium. Equilibrium which is confirmed by the performances connected to the most highly comfort and the large spaces confirmed by the harmony on which the persons move.

Test conditions.   The test has been performed in the Liguria Gulf with calm sea, no wind, 5 person on board, water tank 50% level, fuel tank 25% level.

SPACES ENGINEERING: DESIGN IN MOTION The exterior lines of the 50 FLY are a chromatic contrast characterized by the main deck interior which is bright, airy, and finely furnished.

On the left side of the entrance, the galley is equipped with practical countertop  space for food preparation, as well as plenty of storage for longer cruises. An electrically sliding glass can open up the aft cockpit to the galley which allows for easy serving to guests.

The furniture in the salon has been redesigned to offer new stowage space, maximize the interior volume, and provide a comfortable place to relax after a long day in the sun. Furthermore, large sofas, furnishings, new air conditioning systems, and the entertainment area contribute to making the onboard experience truly delightful.

The main deck helm station is ergonomic, well-equipped, has a, opening side door that is particularly helpful when maneuvering, and a complete controls for the yacht.

SPACES ENGINEERING: DESIGN IN MOTION

The exterior lines of the 50 FLY are a chromatic contrast characterized by the main deck interior which is bright, airy, and finely furnished.

On the left side of the entrance, the galley is equipped with practical countertop  space for food preparation, as well as plenty of storage for longer cruises. An electrically sliding glass can open up the aft cockpit to the galley which allows for easy serving to guests.

The furniture in the salon has been redesigned to offer new stowage space, maximize the interior volume, and provide a comfortable place to relax after a long day in the sun. Located midship on the lower deck, the full-beam master cabin is very spacious, refined with elegant color combinations, and equipped with big storage spaces. The VIP cabin also covers the entire beam of the boat. It is comfortable and bright with an ensuite head that has double access from both the stateroom and the companionway. All kinds of high-end luxury sailing you could ever imagine can be experienced on Catamarans Over 50 Feet. It just depends on the boat at hand. Why spend your holiday cruising or liveaboard on a monohull when comfortable catamarans exist?

A catamaran is quite different from a regular monohull. Catamarans are typically designed with two equal-sized hulls and derive their stability from their wide beam; unlike a one-hulled boat deriving stability from a loaded undersurface.

The average catamaran is 38-47 feet in size. Usually, they are equipped with four large cabins with double or queen-sized beds, each cabin having an in-suite head. These vessels, originally designed for fishing, have, over the years, evolved and have become very popular in recent years. Lately, many boatbuilders are focusing more and more on building large catamarans over 50 feet as more and more people are starting to liveaboard and put more emphasis on comfort and luxury than their sailing performance.

In 2011, the biggest catamaran ever was built by Pendennis Shipyard in the UK, at 145 feet in length! It is equipped with a trampoline, a jacuzzi and can accommodate 12 guests in 5 cabins. This boat is designed to accommodate all the luxuries and adornments that can be found on a watercraft.

Length: 50 Feet

Price: From $500k to $1.5 Million USD On the Used Market

Back in 2019, the Lagoon 50 was awarded the best multihull of Sail Magazine. A product of the world’s largest boat manufacturer Lagoon, established in 1984, is majorly famous for the design and construction of cruising catamarans, which infuse top-notch designs, upscale comfort, and great sailing performances to one’s boating experience. Every detail is carefully thought out to establish novel and spacious architecture with a homely ambiance.

It’s a perfect balance between the model Lagoon 450 and the lofty 52. The Lagoon 50 has an encompassing view, generous volumes with a self-tacking jib, and a shorter mast for easily simplified maneuvers. It has two cockpits, one large one facing the sea and the other for seating at foredeck or on a deck chair. The hulls being large enough to contain more than 2 cabins, you can have up to six cabins. Italian agency Nauto Design Studio set a standard for their innovative interior designs every time. This vessel boasts of a unique brand signature, providing increased performance and a detailed wood finish to be fitted for the owner. Unconventional lines are linked with luxury, versatility, and a layout of technical options to cater to everyone’s needs.

Looking for something contemporary and luxurious? Lagoon 52 takes the cake in that way. This boat signified a new stage in the design of cruising catamarans. The Lagoon 52 is a product of the prolonged conversations between Lagoon’s customary VPLP, Nauto design agency, and the Lagoon design department. It comes in two versions: The Lagoon 52 FlyBridge, known as Lagoon 52F, and Lagoon 52 SporTop.

The combination of onboard comfort with its sailing performance is perfect and in sync. The wide side decks allow easy movement onboard. The cockpit and saloon also offer spacious living areas. The vertical bows of the boat have a diamond-shaped appearance with diagonal shaped hull and a lifting deck house.

The boat is easily accessible and safe thanks to the open rear skirts. Most of the features in this luxurious watercraft can be found in the aforementioned Lagoon 50. It has a perfect blend for its easy use, a comfy, elegant interior, amazing space, and lighting. You’re sure to get your money’s worth with the LAGOON 52.

Privilege Series 5

Price: Around $1-1.5 Million USD

At 50 feet, this boat is quite marvelous and a privilege to spend your time in as a cruiser or owner. The Privilège Series 5 is the world’s first 50 feet sailing catamaran. This vessel was built by Privilège Marine, a French company based in Les Sables-d’Olonne, France. They are famous for building premium luxury catamarans and designed by French Naval Architect Marc Lombard. The Privilège Series 5 is equipped with three or four double and a full-sized owner’s cabin located in the yacht’s center. It’s a lightweight boat at 48500 pounds and could go up to 52900 depending on the size.

It has great customization options, and it can be designed to suit the boat owner’s taste. The attention to detail on the boat is nothing short of perfection as the interior design, woodwork, safety measurements laid out by the boat’s design, aesthetics, ventilation, etc., was thought out good. The vessel’s finishing is really phenomenal as everything has a high level of craftsmanship.

Leopard 50L

Length: 50 Ft 6 In

Price: Around $1 Million USD

The Leopard 48, which was launched in 2012, was one of the most popular cruising cats ever designed. But the design was beginning to become dated, even as new orders kept coming in. So, Robertson & Caine, who build the Leopard cats, set out to improve on what was already great. The new 50 was their answer and comes with many innovations that will make owners happy. We test sailed the 50L last winter in Florida. The L version has the optional lounge on top of the hardtop over the cockpit. Unlike some cats with flying bridges and lounges up high, the 50L doesn’t feel like a layer wedding cake.

The steering station is a traditional raised helm to starboard, and the lounge is just up a few stairs from there. The helmsman is in contact with those in the main cockpit and those in the lounge. Out sailing, we got the 50L up to 10 knots in a good breeze, so the boat is fast. It is also commodious and will make a very comfortable home for a family or a charter party.

Length: 58 Feet

Price: From $450k To $1.5 Million on the Used Market

Leopard 58 is a superb layout from Leopard, skilfully modeled by award-winning designers Robertson & Caine. This extravagant catamaran is suited to the prolific and innovative catamarans that have made Leopard famous while still giving out fresh features and various design options.

This expansive FlyBridge takes space to a whole new dimension as it is larger than its siblings with their award-winning aspects. A Flybridge is basically a version of catamarans that affords you the luxury of outdoor space, come rain or shine. Leopard 58 is more about space, bragging about 750 square feet in just the saloon alone. It gives you amazing comfort and is naturally luminous. With an open plan layout, the galley available means the meal making and interaction will be easy. Highly recommended for a family outdoor gathering.

Price: Around $1 Million USD New ; Not many options on the used market since its a newer model

Popularly called the Seawind 52 because of its 52 feet size. The Seawind 52′ 1600 is designed by world-renowned architects Reichel Pugh. Like the Lagoon 52, it’s a perfect balance for onboard comfort and performance sailing and sea safety. Perfect for sailors or boat lovers who are looking for a little extra.

This catamaran sets a standard for offshore sailing because of its simple sailing methods, large open cockpit space, and twin protected helms. Equipped with a three or four-cabin design that affords the owner’s cabin expansive living space, great storage, high aspect riders, daggerboards, an elegant fit/finish, and infused carbon-reinforced construction.

Seawind 1600

Price: Around $1 Million USD New

The new Seawind 1600 has been in the works for a while and has finally arrived on the market. The Reichel Pugh design is a departure from the more conservative looks of the other Seawinds and embraces a very Euro-style with plumb bows, hard chines, a swept-back cabin, and a large open cockpit with helm stations on both sides. The boat is a pure performance cruiser that was conceived as a blue water voyaging boat for a family. At 52 feet, it falls within the size range that an experienced couple can handle, so it would make a great platform for a couple to explore the world. The 1600 like all of the Seawinds and Corsairs, are built in Vietnam.

Nautitech 542

Length: 54 Feet

Price: Around $1.2 Million USD New

Nautitech 542 is the typical example of offshore meeting first class. This boat has ideally tweaked fittings for smooth sailing under any circumstances. Furnished with a single wheel on its roof for perfect views of the boat and a comfy 2-person seat. The idea of this boat is mostly based on performance and quality. Asides from the positions of the helm, Nautitech 541 and 542 are very similar. Nautitech 542 is large and luxurious. The sail controls at the helm stations for easy sailing maneuvers and perfect for all weather conditions. The interior was designed by French designer Franck Darnet. Equipped with state of the art furniture and cabin experience, a sleek experience is assured.

Xquisite X5

Length: 51 Feet

Price: Around $1.5 Million USD

Once you have met your first Xquisite X5, you will never forget its absolute distinctive looks and almost space-traveling styling. The whole look of the boat, with its large reverse curving arches and cat’s eye windows, says right out loud that you need to pay attention. Tomas and Sara, who build the boats in South Africa, are veteran cruisers and owned hull number one of the X5 line before taking over the company. Privilege 615

Length: 61 Feet

Price: From $800k to $1.3 Million USD on the Used Market

When it comes to onboard luxury, Marc Lombard, who designed this catamaran, is an expert in that field. This lovely boat is in touch with the latest style, sporting a flybridge complete with two wheels and a broad sunbed suitable for the crew to relax the day away. The 615 is a combination of simplistic and superior design with an outstanding crew, results in the ultimate luxury Caribbean cruising experience. The impeccable elegance of the interior with a lavish owner’s suite and the boat’s perfect wood quality are two great reasons to make you get the boat. The freedom to choose a four or five-double cabin is another, depending on the size of the family.

Followed closely by its outstanding exterior, you’re sure to fall in love with it on sight, from the cockpit to the foredeck. With an impressive platform and lustrous profile, the Privilède 615 contradicts the volume and versatility of its interior. One wonders how they fit into the other, gives it a great ambiance.

Balance 526

Length: 52ft 6in

Price: From $1.3 to $1.6 Million USD New

Multihull impresario, dealer, and broker Phil Berman (The Multihull Company) has sold more multihulls over the last 30 years than just about anyone. His latest project has been the development of the Balance line of performance cruising cats. The queen of the line is the Balance 526 that was introduced a few years ago and has proven to be a very successful player in the 50-foot plus segment of the cat market. Built in South Africa by noted composite experts, the 526 offers a well-conceived combination of great sailing performance and luxury living in a boat that can be handled by an experienced couple.

The boat has plenty of innovations, among them a helm that can be tilted up so you can steer from the raised helm station or tilted down so you can steer from the protection of the cockpit. Very cool. The design does not take any particular element to the “extreme.” Instead, Berman and his crew have sought to provide a boat that is truly well balanced in all aspects. And, they’ve done it.

Price: From $700k to $1.7 Million USD on the Used Market

Manufactured in 2014, this luxury catamaran is ideal for those who enjoy watersports and healthy activities. It was designed by world-renowned designer Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prvost (VPLP) and built to top-notch quality with a focus on stability, performance, luxury, and spaciousness. The maximum capacity of this boat is 12 guests in 4-double and 2-twin cabins. The Sunreef 620 is the very first to feature a newly developed rig. From the large cabins, saloon, galley, and sail performance, the 620 is one boat you’d get a memorable experience on. As you can understand, this is a great catamaran over 50 feet to use as a liveaboard.

Outremer 5X

Length: 69 Feet

Price: From $1.3 to $1.8 Million USD on the Used Market

The Outremer 5X is unlike any other in the yacht market as it is fast, sturdy, but luxurious all at the same time. Also, it possesses finely finished cabinetwork, spacious accommodations, and an excellent payload carrying ability. Modeled great agility to make even a single person handle any maneuver, its retractable high aspect ratio daggerboards assure a shallower drift giving access to the most remote of harbors.

The port hull suite includes a king-sized bed, superb sea view portlight, an office, and a separate private entrance from the rear. It’s a semi-custom interior designed by VPLP in conjunction with Patrick le Quement. It won the ‘European Yacht of the Year’ and Cruising World’s ‘Boat of the Year’ in 2013 and 2014. This catamaran is as affordable as a luxury catamaran over 50 feet can get. Beautiful isn’t she?

Length: 51 Feet

Price: From $450k to $550k On the Used Market

Aimed at Blue-water sailors looking to sail fast and far, Switch 51 has proved itself and regarded in this day as a remarkable ocean cruising catamaran. This classic high-performance voyage was designed by VPLP and is said to combine a level of comfort, performance, and safety. It was built by Sud Composites in France with high tech materials. Sud initially built about 18 of these classic catamarans from 2001 to 2007.

Switch 51 hulls are built with vinyl ester sandwiched with a Klegecelle PVC foam core, thereby creating a hull light enough to be real quick and heavy enough to handle the ocean waves and swells. The saloon and galley are huge, with the cockpit spacious. The layout and accommodation are perfect for a small family with classic amenities aimed at making your stay on board a memorable one. This also a pretty affordable option in this category with prices on the used market as low as 450k.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.
