As wakesurfing rises in popularity in Hong Kong, even surpassing wakeboarding – a similar, yet fundamentally different sport – surfing boat manufacturers have taken the opportunity to modify, refine, and upgrade their boat designs. Unlike wakeboarding, wakesurfing requires a particular set of features, such as a different engine placement and hull shape, alongside innovative and advanced equipment to provide an enjoyable, safe, and unforgettable wakesurfing experience.

The main difference between wakesurfing and wakeboarding is that with wakesurfing, you aren’t permanently attached to the boat via a rope. Wakeboarding gained popularity thanks to being an invigorating and fun sport in which you travel at high speeds across the water behind a boat. Wakesurfing is typically a slower – but by no means easier – sport in which you surf in the waves made by the boat’s engines. This provides surfers in Hong Kong with much easier and guaranteed access to surfable waves, provided the boat is designed correctly.

The design of the boat

The design of wakesurfing boats differs from wakeboarding boats in that there is a greater emphasis on your safety. Rather than jutting out of the back of the boat, the propellers are located on the bottom – safely out of reach of anyone in the water.

In addition to this, boats with a convex V-shaped hull ride deeper in the water, creating a bigger and more surfable wave. This is different from boats with flatter hulls that might be better for water skiing, for example.

Amadeus Description

Built by the famous Dynamique Yachts shipyard, and having undergone a total refit in 2018, S/Y Amadeus was designed to please the most demanding of yachtsmen. Built for smooth sailing, this elegant cutter rigged sloop has a sleek hull design, comfortably reaching top speeds of 12 knots and ensuring excellent sailing performance. S/Y Amadeus has just undergone this past winter (2018) a major refit such as total repaint top to bottom, new rigging (BSI Denmark), Novourania with new Evinrude 75hp outboard, Splash pool, new Bimini/Sprayhood/Awnings, new exterior fabrics and many other enhancements. In 2016 new “North Sails” were placed onboard. The yacht is maintained in excellent condition with a five-star crew year round. Her generous uncluttered teak deck offers plenty of space for sunbathing. The spacious and unique outdoor saloon has two tables seating upto 12 guests and is a perfect setting for outdoor dining and entertainment. Thanks to a special canopy and roll-up windows, the deck saloon has the added attraction that it can be fully enclosed, making it ideal for all weather conditions. Her forward area includes a splash pool and sun bathing area which can also be shaded with a removable awning. From the cockpit, a stairway leads to the light-filled spacious saloon offering ample seating, ideal for relaxing or enjoying a drink from the bar, and offers a formal dining area. This area also includes a LCD TV, entertainment center, ipod dock station, playstation, and is ideal for indoor activities. She can accommodate 10-12 guests in one full width master stateroom, two double bedded cabins each having one extra single bed and two twin bedded cabins which can be easily converted to double beds (upon request), thus, making her the only 5 double bedded sailboat in the Greek market. She also has a nice selection of toys which include water ski (adult and children), tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod and snorkeling gear.

CAPTAIN - Harry Fotopoulos Captain Harry is a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and holds a Captain Class A’ Diploma. He also holds a Canadian Commercial Pilot license class B, sailing and speedboat license. He has over 15 years of experience onboard many types of Charter Yachts. He holds Certificates in GMDSS, Fire Fighting & First Aid, Personal Safety, Life Saving, and Ship Security. He has a great knowledge of the Greek islands and will navigate guests to remarkable destinations. During his one season on board he showed great leadership skills and received positive feedback from all guests. He is calm yet very outgoing and speaks very good English. DECKHAND - Konstantinos Santas CHIEF STEWARDESS - Mirella Davint Mirella has 8+ years of experience as a stewardess onboard charter and private yachts. She has a very pleasant personality and she aims to accommodate her guests to the fullest. Comments received from previous guests are memorable. This will be Mirella’s eighth season onboard. Mirella speaks English and she is 38 years old. ENGINEER - Stelios Mandos Stelios holds an Engineer Class B’ Diploma from the Greek Merchant Marine Academy as well as a Sailor’s License. He has over 15 years of experience onboard Ocean-Going Vessels and Charter Yachts. His hobbies include spearfishing and sailing. He speaks good English. Stelios is 45 years old, married with two children. CHEF - Thanasis Kiritsis Thanasis is 39 years old and has worked as a chef for more than 20 years in numerous hotels restaurants, yachts and resorts including owning his own pastry shop / bakery for 5 years. Thanasis looks forward to welcoming his guests on board and introducing them to his culinary world. He speaks good English and Greek. He is a young chef full of energy, skills and passion towards his job. We are confident that he will serve his guests unforgettable flavors. ASSISTANT STEWARDESS - Anastasia Yurash Anastasia is 31 years old and has been in the yachting industry since 2021. Her working experience includes 7 years as a housekeeper and assistant stewardess. Anastasia speaks very good English. One of Anastasia’s strongest attributes is her appetite for work. She is also very sociable, welcoming and looks forward to having guests on board S/Y Amadeus. Her hobbies include Latin dancing, snowboard and yoga.

AMADEUS is a fast cruising sailing yacht built by the famous Dynamique Yachts shipyard and totally refit in 2004, she was designed to please the most demanding of yachtsmen. Built for smooth sailing, this elegant cutter rigged sloop has a sleek hull design that enables her to comfortably reach top speeds of 12 knots and ensures excellent sailing performance.

This sailing yacht's generous uncluttered teak deck with a foredeck pool, offers plenty of space for sunbathing. The spacious and unique outdoor saloon has two tables, a bar and barbeque, a perfect setting for outdoor dining and entertainment. Thanks to a special canopy and roll-up windows, the deck saloon has the added attraction that it can be fully enclosed, making it ideal for all weather conditions. From the cockpit, a stairway leads to the light-filled spacious saloon offering ample seating, ideal for relaxing or enjoying a drink from the bar, and a formal dining area with seating for up to 12 guests.

Accomodation is offered for up to 12 guests in 5 spacious cabins: the bow master cabin on AMADEUS features a double bed, vanity unit and generous storage facilities, as well as audio/visual entertainment. The en-suite bath includes a shower and separate large bath. Two double cabins with additional single bunks situated forward. Two twin cabins situated aft. All cabins with en suite facilities and audio/visual entertainment. Crew of 5 in separate quarters.

A General Description of Sailing Yacht AMADEUS

AMADEUS was previously registered as project/yacht name Amadeus 1er. This 33 metre (109 ft) luxury yacht was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1991. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS is a well proportioned superyacht. The yacht is a modern sloop with a cutter rig. The naval architecture office whom authored the design work on this ship was Philippe Briand. Luxury yacht AMADEUS is a quality yacht that is able to accommodate as many as 12 guests on board and has a total of 5 crew members.

Sailing yacht AMADEUS was built by the famous Dynamique Yachts shipyard .The yacht features superb sailing characteristics which are complimented by her spacious interior and abundant deck space. Sailing sloop AMADEUS can accommodate 10 passengers in five cabins. With one large master stateroom and four additional cabins which are all air conditioned and have en suite bathrooms. She also has two separate salons and a full dining room. The aft deck is fully covered with seating. The fore deck has an unique pool on deck and swimming in the sea is made accessible by a large swim aft platform.

The Construction & Naval Architecture relating to Luxury Yacht AMADEUS

Philippe Briand was the naval architect firm involved in the formal nautical design work for AMADEUS. Also the company Philippe Briand skillfully collaborated on this undertaking. In 1991 she was actually launched to triumph in Marans and following sea trials and final completion was afterwards passed on to the yacht owner. Dynamique Yachts completed their new build sailing yacht in France. A reasonable proportion is brought about with a maximum beam (width) of 7.5 metres / 24.6 feet. With a 3.6m (11.8ft) draught (maximum depth) she is reasonably deep. The material composite was used in the building of the hull of the sailing yacht. Her superstructure above deck is built with the use of composite. Over the deck of AMADEUS she is 32.7 (107.3 ft) in length. In 2004 extra refitting and modernisation was also finished.

Engines & Speed For S/Y AMADEUS:

She is driven by twin screw propellers. The main engine of the ship gives 375 horse power (or 276 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The combined thrust for the boat is therefore 750 HP / 552 KW.

Bestowing bedding for a maximum of 12 yacht guests sleeping aboard, the AMADEUS accommodates them in style. Normally the vessel requires approximately 5 professional crewmembers to run.

Her master cabin features a walk around king bed, desk/vanity, and en-suite bathroom. Additionally, there are two guest cabins each with a queen bed convertible to two twins, and two guest cabins each with a queen bed and twin bed. Each guest cabin has an en-suite.

Her main salon has a spacious, contoured conversational area, along with a large, flatscreen T.V. The aft deck features al fresco dining with Bimini top. Up on deck there are sun pads and a splash pool for you and your guests to enjoy.

Watersports offered include a 15 foot tender with 75hp engine, water skis for adults and children, tube, wakeboard, kayak, fishing gear, snorkeling gear, and rendezvous diving.

Sailing yacht AMADEUS is a stunning 110 ft yacht available for charter in Greece. With a clean, spacious teak deck and a unique outdoor saloon that can seat up to 12 guests across two tables, it’s the perfect place for outdoor dining and entertainment. The deck saloon can also be enclosed with a special canopy and roll-up windows, making it suitable for use in all weather conditions. At the front of the boat, there’s a splash pool and sunbathing area with a removable awning for shade.

Inside the boat, a staircase from the cockpit leads to a well-lit and roomy saloon area with plenty of seating, including a formal dining area, bar, LCD TV, entertainment center, iPod dock station, and Playstation. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS can accommodate 10-12 guests in five large cabins, including a full-width master stateroom and two double cabins, each with an extra single bed. The two twin cabins can also be converted to doubles upon request, making her the only sailboat on the Greek market with five double beds.

To add to the fun, sailing yacht AMADEUS also comes with a range of water toys, including adult and children’s water skis, tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod, and snorkeling gear. She was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1996 and underwent a refit in 2014/2018.

A professional crew of 5-6 members are accommodated in separate quarters.

Charter the AMADEUS

AMADEUS is a 110-foot sailing yacht that can accommodate ten to twelve passengers in five staterooms as follows: a spacious Owner’s stateroom with a double bed, a vanity and an entertainment unit including TV, DVD and music system; two cabins with a double bed and an additional single bed; two cabins with two twin beds each. All staterooms have en suite bathrooms, a TV, DVD and CD player. There are two separate salons onboard as well as a full dining room. Six anglers lose fishing rights in Pa. for 5 years; unusual species of fish being stocked

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has revoked fishing privileges for six anglers for five years and the agency is also receiving new information about private stockings across the state, including some unusual species.

During Monday’s quarterly meeting, the agency approved the revocations for six people involved in two separate incidents that happened on steelhead nursery waters in Erie County.

On Sept. 24 at 2:45 a.m., the agency reports four individuals used cast nets in Trout Run at the mouth of Lake Erie on Avonia Beach. The shallow waterway is closed to fishing as it’s used as a nursery water for the large spawning fish. A waterways conservation officer approached the foursome and discovered they had 25 steelhead. Each of the four people paid $1,616 in penalties.

In the second incident, on Oct. 15 at 1:55 a.m., two men were found using two landing nets to take steelhead trout out of Trout Run. A waterways conservation officer approached the men and discovered three steelhead on the ground and 12 additional ones in a cooler. They each paid $1,989 in fines. 

“They are pretty significant penalties,” said Clyde Warner, director of the bureau of law enforcement. “These are one of those things, the intent is, there’s no question it’s not a mistake, the intent is there. They are doing this at very early hours in the cover of darkness, there’s no question what their intent is there, especially when you get in there with these big nets.”

The six individuals were not residents of Pennsylvania. Warner said he doesn’t release the names of the people involved in these types of incidents, but would only say they were nonresidents of Pennsylvania. 

The waterway is also monitored by a public webcam that’s used by the angling public to monitor the conditions of the creek and Lake Erie. Warner said the incidents were caught on the video, but in these cases an officer was onsite observing the area from a concealed location.

“That camera has certainly helped our enforcement efforts in the past," he said. "In these two incidents the officer just happened to be there based on some complaints."

The agency has charges pending against more steelhead anglers, too.

“We are just waiting for some of these other cases to work through the court process," Warner said. "I’m sure we will have more revocations from other incidents up there."

Board president Bill Gibney thanked law enforcement for protecting the waterways.

“I would like to take the opportunity to point out the important work the officers in Erie County are doing in protecting the resource out there under what was pretty deliberate poaching and extreme poaching," he said. "The sportsmen can know that our staff is out there doing its best to protect the resources for them."

The waterways conservation officer involved in the two incidents, Matt Visosky, of Central Erie County, received the Northeast Conservation Law Enforcement Chiefs Award during Monday’s meeting. He was selected as the PA Fish and Boat Commission's NECLECA Officer of the Year for 2023.  

The agency reports during 2023, Visosky’s summary enforcement efforts were “outstanding” with 166 citations issued. He also investigated 16 incidents, conducted 36 days onboard patrol boats, performed 480 boardings and attended 24 education and information events. 

During the presentation, Warner, said, 

“Warnings 359, three-to-one ratio of warnings versus tickets. He’s more than fair when he’s out there doing his job,” Warner said about Visosky. “He’s out there all hours of the night, we’re really making a difference in protecting the resource.”

Notice of stockings

The agency also started in January requiring members of the public to report when they do their own fish stockings in the state.

As of April 22, the agency had received 1,081 Notice of Stockings (NOS), either electronically or in paper format. 

“This time last year, we had no idea what was going on; who was stocking fish where,” executive director Tim Schaeffer said.

The notices reveal nearly 3,000 stocking events that are underway by private individuals and clubs.

“It’s working. We’re really proud of that work,” Schaeffer said about the agency’s staff and stakeholders working together to create the NOS program.

The notices require people to report the number of fish, species, general location and date.

“The range is pretty large, although the numbers are not large for all the different species,” said Mike Parker, communications director for the PFBC.

About 900 of the 1,100 NOS are for trout, including some unusual species like albino trout and tiger trout. Other notices included American eel, Blueback herring, channel catfish, bass, walleye, common carp, yellow perch and a variety of panfish and minnows.

Information to file a NOS is available on the agency’s website and HuntfishPa.gov .

Boat rentals

The agency’s board is also looking to improve customer safety for those renting boats at rental businesses also known as liveries.

The board approved the publication of a notice of proposed rulemaking pertaining to boat rental businesses. Under this proposal, changes would include new responsibilities for livery operators to provide accurate business information to the PFBC, deliver safety orientation to all renters, possess a Boating Safety Education Certificate if conducting the required safety orientation for motorboat rentals, and properly display boat registration or use permits on rental boats for the access areas on which the rental boats will be used. 

In addition, livery operators would be required to document the names of renters who have been provided with boating safety orientation. If adopted on final rulemaking at a future meeting, this amendment will go into effect on Jan. 1.

The boat rental providers are scheduled to be listed on the agency’s website to allow the public to find businesses that rent watercraft at different sites across the state.

Paul Littman, director of the Bureau of Boating, said, “Our hope is to be able to allow the individual to search, probably by county, to see what availabilities are in what area they are looking for.”

Hellenic Shipyards S.A built her in 1981 at their shipyard in Greece as the second of three identical yachts commissioned by Stavros Niarchos, Philip Niarchos’s late father.

We take a quick look at the new Swan 128, due to be launched in 2025. An all-carbon superyacht designed for long ocean voyages

Product Overview

Unveiled at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show, the Swan 128 is the second largest yacht ever for the Finnish yard and the largest in its current Maxi range. Construction is at an early stage, with the mould still being built around the finished plug.

The Swan 128 draws on the naval architecture of Germán Frers, exterior design of Lucio Micheletti and an interior by Misa Poggi. And the result is very much part of the Swan family – a familiar, low-profile hull with a semi-raised coachroof.

This is an all-carbon yacht designed for long ocean voyages, but with the pace to hold its own at a superyacht regatta without any dramatic transformation. Frers commissioned a full CFD study from Cape Horn Engineering to optimise the shape of the canoe body in all conditions.

ORC (Offshore Racing Congress) velocity predictions for the boat show it matching true wind speed up to 14 knots, and topping out around 17-18 knots – although Frers said the aim was to exceed this with careful engineering and optimisation.

A 6.2m telescopic keel and twin rudders as far outboard as possible offer good performance potential.

A full-beam owner’s cabin and bathroom fills the bow, and there are a further guest double and two twin cabins. A flexible lounge, office or dining area gives way to the saloon, which is raised a few steps with views out of the coachroof windows over low bulwarks.

The deck, coachroof and coaming are decked with wood. Swan’s characteristic long guest cockpit can be covered for shade and upholstery runs to seating and a pair of huge sunpads. There’s independent crew access to the twin helm stations further aft. A 4.5m tender can be carried inside the cavernous fold-down transom, which converts into a large beach club.

The boat is scheduled for launch in 2025.

15 men brought to military enlistment office after mass brawl in Moscow Oblast

Local security forces brought 15 men to a military enlistment office after a mass brawl at a warehouse of the Russian Wildberries company in Elektrostal, Moscow Oblast on Feb. 8, Russian Telegram channel Shot reported .

29 people were also taken to police stations. Among the arrested were citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

A mass brawl involving over 100 employees and security personnel broke out at the Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal on Dec. 8.

• Chukotka is Russia's easternmost region, sharing a maritime border with Alaska

President Vladimir Putin  has arrived for his first-ever presidential visit to Chukotka in Russia 's Far East - just 55 miles from the US state of Alaska . 

Putin arrived in Anadyr, the local capital of the Chukotka region this morning after flying from Moscow some nine time zones away. 

Chukotka is the easternmost region of Russia, with a maritime border on the Bering Strait with Alaska.

The Russian president was met in Anadyr by a motorcade and was whisked away in a limousine amid frigid temperatures of -28C. 

It's the closest he has come to US soil since he met with President  Barack Obama in New York City in 2015.

Chukotka is so close to Alaska that Roman Abramovich - the ex-Chelsea FC owner - was reported to fly to Anchorage in Alaska for lunch when he was the governor of the region from 2001 - 2008.

Putin's visit comes at a time when US-Russian relations are at their lowest ebb in decades amid the war in Ukraine and a growing East-West divide. 

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today landed in Lithuania as part of an unannounced trip to the Baltic states to drum up more support for the conflict.

The three Baltic states - all former Soviet republics which are now EU and NATO members - are among Ukraine's staunchest allies.

'Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are our reliable friends and principled partners. Today, I arrived in Vilnius before going to Tallinn and Riga,' Zelensky said on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

'Security, EU and NATO integration, cooperation on electronic warfare and drones, and further coordination of European support are all on the agenda,' he said.

The Baltic tour marks Zelensky's first official trip abroad this year.

In Lithuania, a key donor to Ukraine, Zelensky said he will hold talks with the president, prime minister and the speaker of parliament, and meet with the Ukrainian community.

The visit comes as other Kyiv allies waver on fresh aid, nearly two years into Russia's invasion.

Ukraine has come under intense Russian shelling in recent weeks, retaliating with strikes on Russia's border city of Belgorod.

Zelensky has urged allies to keep military support flowing and held in-person talks with officials from the United States, Germany and Norway last month.

But an EU aid package worth 50 billion euros ($55 billion) has been stuck in Brussels following a veto by Hungary, while the US Congress remains divided on sending additional aid to Ukraine.

Following his trip to Chukotka, Putin is expected to visit several regions in the Russian Far East to boost his re-election campaign amid the war with Ukraine, which has seen more than 300,000 Russians killed or maimed.

He is due to stand in March, seeking another six years in the Kremlin.

The only Kremlin leader ever to travel to Chukotka previously was Dmitry Medvedev in 2008.

Putin's trip sees him escape a wave of ugly protests in western Russia over hundreds of thousands of people scraping by in freezing conditions due to breakdowns in communal heating supplies.

In Elektrostal, Moscow region, desperate residents say they have had no communal heating - which Russians routinely expect the state to supply usually through piped hot water - for the entire winter so far.

'We have been without heating since [9 October],' one resident said in a video circulating on Telegram.

'It is impossible to be in our homes… We are freezing! We are freezing! We are freezing!' they said.
