Broker Remarks

The Scampi 30 is one of the classic Half tonner designs. Over 750 were built in total and they have won a great reputation as race winners and for being excellently well built,  easily sailed, and well behaved fast cruisers. The Scampi 30 is roomy, has a deep cockpit and is stiff with good stability Minim 3 has a top race pedigree having great results at club racing and in The Round the Island Race. She has been very well looked after over 30 years of ownership by her current owner.  This Scampi 30 is very neat both her exterior and interior are very clean and. She has been re-engined and has had all her lines led aft.  She has a full suite of sails in overall good condition. She is a classic cruiser-racer that could easily bring home some silverware for her new owner or would make a safe comfortable cruiser for someone who really likes to sail. 

Accommodation

The Alvin Scampi can sleep up to 7, forward is a twin berth cabin. The saloon has two main berth settees with two pipe cots above. There is a quarter berth on the aft port side. She has a sea toilet forward as well as a full-sized hanging locker. The galley has an oven, grill with two burners, cold box and dry storage. Aft port side is a large quarter berth.

It has a semi-displacement hull with a prop protecting skeg.  Single diesel direct drive engine makes an economical cruise at 15-17 knots at 1 gpm (3,000 rpm). The 30 FC is great for weekend or long distance cruising and provides a large cockpit. Forward cabin has a convertible V-Berth/Dinette, Galley, Quarter Berth and Head Compartment.  This 30 FC has been equipped with generator, AC, bow thruster and a multi functional electronics.

1995 Albin TE28 Convertible, This 1995 Albin TE28 / Convertible has been as close to our perfect boat we could find. This boat has been a joy to own. Mechanically the boat is in very good condition and has always been maintained by qualified mechanics. Cosmetically it could use a good cleaning as I have not had much time this season. This convertible model is one of 15 or so produced from 1993 to 2005. The convertible is considered a rare find given that around 1000 total 28s were built. The convertible has a large radically-raked, welded aluminium American Marine tempered safety-glass windshield and a TIG-welded aluminium radar arch. (Compliments of J & J Fabrications) Visibility is virtually unobstructed. This is a well built, well planned, stylish vessel. She is well equipped and has lots of room for weekends with the family. She has a bimini and full canvas enclosure for boating in inclement weather. We generally boat from March until November and have spent many hours cruising the Chesapeake, in all kinds of weather, and have never felt unsafe. We have spent many nights on the hook and in marinas. The Albin is a comfortable weekender, a great fishing platform, and perfect cruiser. We do have a cockpit bimini that we have never used. Canvas is sand color. All other canvas is black. The black hullsides were wet sanded a few years ago and are still holding up well. Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. • LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.
