The super-stylish 187.93ft  /57.28m  Custom motor yacht  ‘Diamond A’  was built in 1998 by Abeking & Rasmussen and last refitted in 2010. Previously named Ultima III, her luxurious interior is designed by Jack C. Anderson and her exterior styling is by Donald Starkey. She is incredibly attractive and is a stand-out among charter yachts.

Diamond A’s comfortable yet stylish interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 9 rooms, including a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, 4 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 15 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.

Diamond A’s impressive leisure and entertainment facilities make her the ideal charter yacht for socialising and entertaining with family and friends. You’ll find a BBQ onboard – great for rustling up something tasty after a long sunny day.

She is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and has a cruising speed of 16 knots, a maximum speed of 17.5 knots and a range of 4,000nm from 167,000litre fuel tanks.

She also comes complete with a modern stabilization system to reduce roll motion even during rough seas, and the yacht also has ‘at anchor stabilizers’ to keep things smooth even at anchor/zero speed.

A deck Jacuzzi is perfect for relaxing with friends and family, while taking in the view, particularly after a long day of exploration.

The yacht has a great Wi-Fi connection throughout, so you’ll be able to check emails or share your experience on social media. A gym onboard, fully equipped with the latest exercise equipment, means you’ll never miss a work out.

Air conditioning keeps conditions comfortable throughout the cabins, so you’ll stay cool even on those hot, humid days or nights.

Recreation is never far away, and toys onboard include 2 x Kawasaki Waverunners, 4 x Wake Boards, 4 x Water-Skis, 2 x Kneeboards, Inflatable Water Toys, Snorkelling Equipment, and Inflatable trampoline.

Diamond A is a full displacement steel motor yacht featuring interior design by Donald Starkey. Built by Abeking & Rasmussen in 1998. She has received a refit in 2010 as well as 2014, including an upgrade on all audio-visual systems, communication system, superstructure and hull paint, Quantum Zero Speed Stabilizers, as well as some new furniture.

This impressive and stunning yacht has a light, spacious and luxurious interior with plenty of communal areas for social gatherings or private relaxation. Her saloon is spacious, and boasts a large range of sofas and armchairs as well as coffee tables and a full entertainment centre.

A formal dining room is forward, with seating for up to 10 guests in total comfort. around a circular table.

DIAMOND A Specifications

Her exterior is equally impressive with a huge sun deck with a areas to dine for 16 guests, sheltered by sculpted sail awnings, soak in the Spa Pool or sunbathe. There are further areas for relaxing and al fresco dining on the Bride deck and on the aft deck as well as a circular table and seating area forward.

With a steel displacement hull and aluminium superstructure, DIAMOND A cruises at speeds of 14 knots with top speeds of 16 knots.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

The beautiful Master suite is located on the main deck and comprises of a private lounge and additional stateroom. The Master cabin has His and hers facilities with dressing areas and generous wardrobe space. The VIP stateroom is located on the upper deck and is equipped with generous en-suite bathroom and dressing room. There is also a Staff twin cabin on the upper deck. The remaining cabins are located on the lower deck and are all generously equipped double beds, wardrobe space and ensuite facilities.

Luxury motor yacht Diamond A (Ultima III) has the following extras and amenities onboard: Tenders & Toys: Tenders and toys include a Zodiac Low Profile 630 to be replaced with a new Zodiac, Proluxe 638, Custom Tender 7.1 (1998), Duarry Rescue Tender (2003), 2 Kawasaki waverunners, 4 Wake boards, 4 Water skis , 2 Knee boards, a variety of inflatable towable toys and Snorkelling equipment. Communications include Fleet 77, Iridium, VSAT Broadband and GSM's, Panasonic PBX hybrid telephone system, WiFi throughout the yacht, Audio Visual Equipment and Deck Facilities are to be confirmed.

The award winning 36.2m/118'9" open yacht 'Diamond' was built by AB Yachts in Italy at their Viareggio shipyard. Her interior is styled by Dutch designer design house Guido de Groot Design and she was delivered to her owner in June 2012. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Marco Arnaboldi.

Guest Accommodation

Diamond has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 6 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Diamond is built with a kevlar composite hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by 3 x diesel MTU (16V2000 M93) 2,400hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 40 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 49 knots with a range of up to 461 nautical miles from her 18,500 litre fuel tanks. Her low draft of 1.14m/3'9" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 3,200 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) classification society rules.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
