Brighton Boat Works is proud to be a US distributor for the exceptional new IOM the Goth MX14 . Designed by the legendary Australlian Frank Russell with production machining designed and produced by Maurizio Morbidelli 's Italian Company MX Components. This boat comes from the factory complete with Hull, Deck Fin-box,Deck accessories, Carbon Fiber Foils; both rudder & Keel, Carbon fiber coated Ballast. Additional included deck accessories are a radio pot, Rudder arm, mast ram and main sheet riser, and silicone nose bumper. Just add servos and rigs (we are happy to provide those as well!!) and you are good to go racing! This Item is Special Order Please allow 8-10 weeks for delivery.

THe MX14  is the next evolution of the extremely successfull Goth Hull design.The MX14 features a 12mm narrower beam and additional forward deck volume. The new design is complete with a new keel, rudder and bulb design. The MX14 is available as either a single color boat or a 2 Color boat(Hull and Deck). Any Color may be selected from the RAL Color Chart. That chart can be found at http://www.ralcolor.com/ . Please specify the desired color when ordering. Color is added to the boat in the mold to insure an excellent finish without the additional weight of a gell coat.

The deck, hull, fin box and deck accessories are assembled at the factory. all openings to the hull are factory cut. Additional Accessories for this boat include:

The 59.99m/196'10" motor yacht 'Vision' (ex. Lyana) was built by Benetti in Italy at their Livorno shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Pierre-Yves Rochon and she was delivered to her owner in July 2011. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Stefano Natucci and she was last refitted in 2014.

High-tech yacht made from scrap metal features solar-electric technology that could make waves in ocean research: 'A significant leap forward'

A 55-foot luxury sailing catamaran has been designed with sustainability in mind, leveraging solar power and recycling among other eco-friendly practices.

Actor, film producer, and environmental entrepreneur Daniel Roesner partnered with German yacht design and engineering studio iYacht GmbH to help bring his vision to life, as reported by Interesting Engineering. 

"After living four years on a steel cutter to test whether life on the water was for me, I quickly realized that it was my thing and that all I really wanted to do was make films and live on the sea," Roesner shared in a press release. He plans to use the vessel as a home, a floating film studio, and a way to conduct ocean research.

The catamaran, the Hu'chu 55, was built with 90% recycled scrap aluminum. The company states that using waste materials like license plates, road signs, and cosmetic cans reduces the carbon dioxide footprint of the aluminum sheets to one-eighth of the market average, according to iYacht. 

Udo Hafner, iYacht's CEO, said "there is an increasing demand for sustainable solutions and boats designed with circularity in mind. It was truly gratifying to bring Daniel's vision to fruition."

The boat has a larger-than-normal foresail to better capture the wind's power . Two silent, vibration-free electric motors and a 100-kilowatt-hour battery storage system bolster that.

Those can be charged by using either the on-board photovoltaic solar panels and the plentiful sun of the open seas or through hydrogeneration. When the boat is sailing, the motion can passively spin the propellers and generate electricity through electromagnetic induction .

Solar-powered boats , and even superyachts , have been growing in popularity. They run on sustainable, green energy instead of planet-polluting dirty fuels like diesel. Cleaner waterways and healthy marine life are just some of the upsides.  

Connecting the water heating system to the solar panels can keep them cool and maximize efficiency. The rest of the vessel also focuses on sustainability and circularity. The interiors feature reclaimed wood and recycled cork, and renewable sources will power an onboard vegetable garden and film-editing room. 

"We have designed and engineered a dozen multihulls in recent years, but the Hu'chu 55 represents a significant leap forward in terms of sustainability and circularity," according to Hafner. 

"Daniel had a very ambitious vision, and we guided him in turning it into a feasible project."

More than 60 feared dead off Cape Verde islands after migrant boat found

More than 60 people are feared dead after a migrant boat was discovered off the coast of the Atlantic island nation of Cape Verde, the United Nations’ migration agency said — more than a month after they are believed to have left Senegal.

Safa Msehli, a spokeswoman for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), said Thursday that survivors told authorities that the boat left Senegal on July 10 with 101 people on board. It was discovered Tuesday off Cape Verde, a group of islands more than 350 miles from the coast of West Africa.

Authorities recovered the bodies of seven people and rescued 38 others, including four children between the ages of 12 and 16, as of Wednesday night, Msehli said by telephone. She estimated that “roughly 63 people would have perished in this tragedy,” given the number of people unaccounted for, since “people that are missing at sea are presumed dead.”

Msehli added that the IOM is seeking more information on the incident. She said it was unclear whether those feared or confirmed dead had drowned or died of other causes in the weeks since their departure from Senegal.

One of the boat’s passengers was from Guinea-Bissau, while the others were all from Senegal, Agence France-Presse reported , quoting Senegal’s Foreign Ministry.

Meanwhile, Senegal’s state-run news agency, Agence de Presse Sénégalaise (APS) , reported that the pirogue, a large wooden fishing boat, set off from the coastal town of Fass Boye north of the Senegalese capital, Dakar, in July.

While the boat’s intended destination has not been confirmed, many migrants leave the West African coast seeking to reach the Spanish Canary Islands. The president of the local fishermen’s association, Cheikh Awa Boye, said two of his nephews were missing and that “they wanted to go to Spain,” according to the Associated Press .

“We’ve seen a lot of cases where boats were stranded for days and weeks, and these tragedies have become a little bit more frequent in the past two years with the increased departures from West Africa,” Msehli said.

According to a report from the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, the number of people attempting the long and dangerous route from the northwestern coast of Africa to the Canary Islands increased sharply in 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic hit many economies, delivering a “particularly harsh” blow to the region’s small-business owners, salaried workers and informal workers.

Migrants and refugees interviewed by the organization gave a range of reasons for making the dangerous journey by boat, including escaping conflict or forced labor, seeking better economic opportunities or being repeatedly refused access to legal migration channels.

Caminando Fronteras, a Spanish migration advocacy group, wrote in an emailed statement Thursday that it had alerted countries on the route between Senegal and the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the Moroccan coast, after learning about the boat’s departure.

“We are aware that search efforts have indeed been made, although we consider that they have not been sufficient,” Caminando Fronteras said. “The characteristics of this migratory route mean that these boats can easily get lost or drift away if there is an engine failure.”

It gave a higher estimated death toll, saying that relatives said 130 people were on board. The group said it believes that 92 people died.

Spain rescues scores of migrants from capsized boats near Canary Islands

During the first six months of this year, at least 126 migrants have died or disappeared while traveling on the northwest African route by boat to the Canary Islands, according to IOM figures . The U.N. agency notes, however, that information on the number of departures from West Africa is very limited and that shipwrecks often go unreported, so the true number could be higher.

More than 2,400 people have died or are missing after attempting to reach Europe by all routes so far this year, according to the agency’s data , while almost 128,000 people have reached the continent by sea.
