Fortunately, there are yacht clubs all over the country that would love to welcome you as a brand-new member. You can enjoy an afternoon on the water with a beautiful yacht in exchange for a small sum of money.

But how much do Yacht Club memberships generally cost?

Prices for Yacht Clubs will vary based on your location, the fleet, and even the amenities that are offered at the marina. The average annual membership price is between $900-$4,000 depending on your level of luxury and needs.

To give you an idea of what you could expect to pay for your yacht club membership, here are some numbers gathered from across the country:

What are the Cheapest Yacht Clubs?

The cheapest yacht clubs charge just under $1,000 per year for membership. While this does give you access to different types of experiences, you may be disappointed by the overall amenities.

Some yacht clubs are known for their extravagant country club styles that help you to embrace a particular lifestyle. They include Olympic-sized swimming pools, state-of-the-art tennis courts, and fine dining.

Everything has a beautiful waterfront view. It can feel like you are in the middle of an idyllic paradise without ever even having to leave the shore. If this is what you can gain from the most expensive yacht clubs, you should set your expectations much lower for the cheaper yacht clubs.

The cheaper yacht clubs lack the community aspect of these exclusive options. They feature dry slips and the occasional party, but not much more.

Some of them may have the feel of a county park with some picnic benches, outdoor grills, and a moderately sized swimming pool. Expect a much more casual atmosphere when you choose to go with a cheaper yacht club.

It is even possible that they are simply “paper yacht clubs” that do not even maintain a physical building of their own.

How Much Do the Most Expensive Yacht Clubs Cost to Join?

The most expensive yacht clubs can vary a great deal in price. Most of them will cost between $3,000 and $4,000 per year. However, you can certainly find more exclusive clubs that will cost above and beyond this.

Keep in mind that these more expensive clubs generally are not open to the public. They are offered by invitation only and you must have a member sponsor you to be considered for entrance.

When you are paying for a more expensive yacht club, you should make sure that you are really going to get your money’s worth. These expensive clubs promote a certain type of elegant lifestyle.

Make sure that you are planning to take advantage of all the amenities available from one of these clubs before you sink too much money into the membership fees. The social aspect of these expensive yacht clubs is extremely important.

If you plan to simply rent a boat from time to time, you might be able to go with a cheaper yacht club.

What Is Generally Included in the Membership Fee for Yacht Clubs?

Have you been wondering why you should join a yacht club? Many potential members want to know what they can expect from their membership fees before they commit to a year-long contract. There are many advantages to signing up for a membership with a well-known yacht club.

Amenities and Activities

First and foremost, you get access to activities and cruises planned by board members. These might be various sailing activities, dinners, get-togethers, tennis matches, or other events that take up a lazy Sunday afternoon.

You also gain access to any amenities that surround the yacht club’s marina. For many programs, this means a fitness center, pool, and tennis courts. Several locations also offer fine dining, meeting rooms, and more.

It is like a private oasis where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the regular world. Time moves slowly when you’re enjoying the amenities here.

Many yacht clubs have programs that introduce children (and adults!) to sailing. Take classes to learn more about improving your technique, sailing safety, and other important aspects of life on the open water.

Access to the Fleet

The main reason why most people join yacht clubs is to be able to rent out boats instead of purchasing their own. Joining a yacht club may give you access to an entire fleet of yachts that can be reserved for a day or weeks at a time. Some yacht clubs allow you to rent boats for up to ten days at a time.

Others do not allow you to rent out ships. They are primarily geared toward individuals who already own a yacht or will own a yacht in the future. Make sure you know the difference in advance.

Are There any Additional Costs Besides the Membership Fees?

Unfortunately, the membership fees are not the only cost associated with joining a yacht club. Most of the clubs in the United States also have a one-time initial fee that tends to cost thousands of dollars. Many will range from $1,500 to $5,000 depending on the location and the exclusivity of the yacht club.

This one-time fee should be the only additional money you pay except for fuel. Most yacht clubs do not cover the cost of the fuel used in the ship during your rental if renting is an option. Be prepared for what this could cost you.

If you cause damage to the ship, you can also expect some out-of-pocket costs. Insurance should cover the damage, but you will likely be asked to cover the cost of the deductible.

Be sure to inquire about how much you may be on the hook for before you sign up for any particular yacht club. Accidents can happen, even to the most experienced sailors. Make sure that you can afford the mishap in advance.

Is a Yacht Club Membership Right for You?

Understanding what the real cost of a yacht club membership is can be the first step toward determining if this is right for you. Many people love the luxuries available through the more expensive yacht clubs, but they may not be able to afford it. Consider what is most important in a club to you before deciding to sign on the dotted line for an annual membership.

Ducked in this evening for a Celebration of Life Ceremony for a fine and generous Gentleman of fine repute by the name of Robert "Bob" Detchon. Rest in Peace, Bob. I have visited this well run operation many, many times. I am 53 years old and one of my very longtime friends whom I don't get to see enough kept his sailboat here for many, many moons. Oh the trips we took to Key Biscayne or Sundays on the Bay. Smells like teen spirit. The name of the boat was "Confusion." I won't name him because I don't have permission. I have not been inside the gates since well before the Y2K ruckus and have never seen the big, sturdy, epic, new building that is on the right side, the one with the rooftop lounge where this event was held. Kudos to management / ownership on maintaining the charm and personality of the place and finding the ideal spot to place needed infrastructure expansion. Excellent service. Cabeza OUT!

We were fortunate to be invited to CRYC after helping out with Race Committee for an event in Coconut Grove. We spent some time in the bar and then sat in the Dining Room and were treated wonderfully by the staff. What an exquisite view and exemplary service. We had almost all of your menu between appetizers, main course, and deserts where we all shared as well. The fish and chips were wonderful. Conch fritters incredible. Loved the New York Strip and the rib appetizer. We were treated to house made ice cream with brandy I think and a cookie. WOW! Can't wait to come back!

Joined some friends for another friends bday. Great crowd of really nice people. Very clean and organised. The food was good and the staff was absolutely amazing. CRYC is one of the only places I've seen that's fully staffed post Covid. I'm assuming this is because they treat and pay their staff well. The staff was exceptional. They were extremely polite and attentive to everyone. Very nice and relaxed evening.

I absolutely love Coral Reef Yacht Club. I've been going there since I was a kid and my husband and I incorporated it into our wedding events. The atmosphere is always nice, the view is unbelievable, the food is great - there really is nothing bad I can say about it. I also love the annual Christmas events, where Santa arrives on a boat, takes pictures with the kids, and gives them gifts, and the kids decorate gingerbread houses while they wait to see Santa. Halloween on the docks also is a great event.

Top of the line. We spent the day at the club as a guest. I was really impressed with the service and facilities. The Fourth of July celebrations at the club were fantastic. The fireworks show was great too. I would recommend checking out the club if you are interested in a family friendly yacht club.

A Miami Classic! While visiting Miami, a friend (member) took us for dinner at the Yardarm Bar. Met several very friendly locals. Some 3rd and 4th generation Miami families. Apparently unusual for Miami. Started the evening with a signature rum punch and conch chowder with a dash of sherry. Both were excellent! Our entree of grouper was fresh and very tasty. Finished of with a unique but simple spiced ice cream dish called "brandy ice". We were content to say the least. Fortunately it was a short walk past the palm tree lined pool, out the dock and onto the boat for moonlight cruise. These people have it made! Thanks again CRYC for the experience!

History of the  Coral Reef Yacht Club

Though Coral Reef Yacht Club was officially established in 1955 as Royal Palm Yacht Club, the beginnings took place in countless meetings of fifty stalwart SAILORS who had visions of a ‘better South Florida Yacht Club’ and not much else. They encountered many problems, not the least of which was finding the right property at the right price.  But Edward S. Christiansen (pictured to the right), a retired businessman from up north, refused to let the dream die. At a meeting at his house in the early 1950’s, when many were ready to give up, he pronounced, “Gentlemen, we HAVE a yacht club , whether or not we have the property.” AND THE VISION TOOK SHAPE AND BECAME A REALITY.

Coral Reef Yacht Club Youth Sailing

Here’s how Coral Reef Yacht Club describes Youth Sailing:

The CRYC Youth Sailing Program is one of the most prominent, active, and highest achieving programs of its kind in the United States. We offer young sailors between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to learn and hone skills that will last them lifetime.

Our Mission

The mission of the Coral Reef Youth Sailing Program is to be the leading club-based youth sailing program in the United States for the Optimist and Club 420 classes.  The Club seeks to teach young sailors to have fun, learn lifelong boating skills, develop good personal character, and compete at the highest levels.

About the Program

Our year-round sailing program is based on beautiful Biscayne Bay in Miami, FL and ranges from introductory two-week summer camp sessions for beginners to weekly sessions during the Fall (September to December) and Spring (January to May) for more advanced sailors.

Our advanced programs have an emphasis on racing and, in the last decade, have produced numerous national champions, US National Team Members, and US participants in qualifying regattas around the world. We also offer private lessons and clinics for those sailors in our program interested in more advanced and personalized one-on-one or small group instruction.   The program utilizes the single-handed (solo crew) Optimist (“Opti”) dinghy for our younger sailors (ages 8-15) and the double-handed (dual crew) spinnaker-equipped Club 420  for our teen participants. Our talented and experienced coaches and coaching staff – many of whom compete on the national and international stage themselves – represent the best racing coaching talent in the US and beyond. During the Fall and Spring seasons, practice is held on weekends with an optional Wednesday afternoon practice and sailors attend local, regional, and international regattas throughout the year.

Opti Sailing

Our  Opti sailing  program is organized into two fleets: an introductory  Green Fleet and the advanced Red, White, and Blue Fleet .

The CRYC  420 sailing program is organized into an  Intermediate Team and  Race Team .

Sailing and College Admissions

Like many sports, your participation in sailing can help your chances of gaining admittance into the college of your choice.

Today, colleges are looking for students who are equally academically qualified and who have demonstrated a passion for something and followed through on it over time.

Sailing can be that passion. Being a great sailor is no substitute for academic achievement. However, being an accomplished sailor can help set you apart from the crowd.

Please contact our Waterfront Director, Stuart deLisser, with questions regarding the CRYC Youth Sailing Program. [email protected]

Racing and Regattas

Coral Reef Yacht Club has grown to be known as a premier yachting center. Their Race Committee is second to none. For over fifty years, sailors from all over the world have entered through their stately royal palmed driveway to participate in some of the best competitions in the world of yacht racing.

Over the years, many great regattas have been hosted by their Club, including the 2008 and 2016 Star Worlds, Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta, Bacardi Cup and Bacardi Miami Race Week, Lightning Midwinters, Etchells Coral Reef Cup, and the World Sailing Olympic Classes Regatta.

They are excited to be the host of the Etchells World Championship in 2023. Not only do they host great regattas, CRYC has Members who are great sailors including two Rolex Yachtsmen of the Year, World Champions, US Singlehanded Youth Sailing Championship for Women for the Leiter Cup and the US Rep for Snipes in the Pan Am Games. CRYC is also a participant in Biscayne Bay Yacht Racing Association and the Columbus Day Regatta.

Their cruising activities offer something for every taste. Whether you prefer visits to high end yachting destinations or casual raft-ups and water sports in Biscayne Bay, they have you covered. Everyone is invited. Come join your friends for relaxed, fun filled water activities.

They also enjoy sharing their cruising experiences. One of its Member is on his sixth circumnavigation of the world. Others have cruised as far south as the Caribbean and as far north as Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Many know the waters of the Bahamas as well as the back of their own hands. Coral Reefers love to cruise.

CRYC has many Members who love to fish. Some do it for relaxation and others are avid competitors. In the spring, the Club hosts a Marlin Tournament with as many as 22 boats participating…good news for the Coral Reefers but bad news for the Marlin!

For the Kids

For the Kids

CRYC is a family Club. The pool is often full of kids swimming and the lawn is a friendly field for play. There are fishing tournaments on the docks for the little ones. The holiday events include egg hunts on Easter, a Halloween costume parade down the docks and a visit with Santa. Movie Night for Kids is very popular too.

Our Youth Sailing Program is among the best in nation. During the summer we are the “hot spot” for summer camps, offering a variety of activities. Our youth sailors have gone on to become College Sailors of the Year and World Champions, and our current youth racing team has made us proud, winning competitions everywhere they go.

2484 S. Bayshore Drive, Coconut Grove/Miami, Florida 33133 Phone: (305) 858-1733

Directions by Water

Coral Reef Yacht Club is located in the Coconut Grove waterfront section of Miami on the western shore of Biscayne Bay. On your charts, look for Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove, south of the Rickenbacker Causeway leading across the Bay to Key Biscayne.

There are two major approaches to the Club: one through Dinner Key Main Channel, which allows for an 8′ depth, and the second, slightly to its north, known as the Seaplane Channel, a privately maintained channel of 5′ depth.

If you are approaching CRYC from the south, head north and aim at downtown Miami until you get to Donovan’s Mark to the entrance of the Main Dinner Key Channel.

The safe entry point for the Dinner Key entrance to Coconut Grove is N25.42.98 W080.12.40. If your boat draws more than 5’, you will want to enter here at a heading of 330°.

Once you are close to the docks, go to the right and stay close to the boats. When you have rounded the docks (Dinner Key), you will then stay on the left side of the basin. You will pass docks with a Shell gas station, the entrance to Shake-A-Leg Miami, the Monty’s docks, Biscayne Bay Yacht Club docks and then you will be approaching the CRYC docks.

If you are boating south from downtown Miami, you will pass under the Rickenbacker Causeway Bridge and head toward the Quick Flash Mark. You are getting close to Coconut Grove. The safe entry point for the Seaplane Channel entrance is N25.42.13 W080.12.57. This Seaplane Channel is the northernmost Coconut Grove entry channel. There is a dolphin (4 piling marker with a light) marking the entrance to this channel. Turn right at a heading of 330° aiming toward the tall SBS building (the tallest on the north side of Coconut Grove) with Monty’s in front of it. Start to turn right when 100 yards from the docks. Do not cut the corner as it is shallow. You will pass by the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club docks and then you will be at CRYC docks.

And, the food was great. They had a pasta night when we were there. As a non member, we had to wait for quite a while to get a table as we cannot make a reservation. We loved the atmosphere as well.
Our dinner companions have been members here forever which helped us nab the best table in the house with a great view. The service was very warm and friendly along with being professional. All the food was super tasty. The wine list Hmmm maybe yacht club people are more into mixed drinks but we did ok. The after dinner stroll on the docks was really nice.
Great bunch of people, great hosts for the Columbus day regatta and for the ensuing awards ceremony.they’re bartenders in the new building could stand a little hospitality training they didn’t know how to handle a non-member requesting a beverage that wasn’t included in the awards menu.
Excellent location, food, atmosphere, people, etc… Sundowners is a private event party for members and their guest only. With one of the greatest buffet spreads ever, fit for a royal dinner!
I visited CRYC for the International Orangebowl regatta. The yacht club has a big waterfront pool, nice restaurants and views of Biscayne Bay. The yacht club has a nice junior club that hosts summer camps for kids and teens.

Restaurant-Yacht Chaika

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Thank you for your feedback and invite you to have lunch or dinner again aboard the ship in an atmosphere of high standards of yacht hospitality.

everything was perfect - the food, the service, the desserts were the best, nice atmosphere and the location - magical

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Hello, Alexander Your comment is extremely important for us, thank you a lot for it. We are terribly sorry for your time that you`ve spent waiting your order and we have already taken actions to improve quality of our service and it would be realy... More

Food is very expensive, very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Atmosphere is great and view is beautiful on the embankment. Special thanks to German & Oleg! More

Thank you for your feedback! Again aboard the yacht restaurant "Chaika" in accordance with the high standards of yacht hospitality.

Highly recommended, great location in the city center of Moscow with a superb atmosphere. Too many menu choices, though all delicious!

Thx a lot for your review! We are looking forward to see you in our restaurants.

Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

Good afternoon! Thank you for your detailed feedback! We are looking forward to seeing you again, we are sure that you will be delighted with our dishes!

I've been here several times during two business trip in Moscow. The overall quality for both service and food is absolutely top-notch, plus the location is very unique.

Good location. Nice views. Good choice of food and drinks. European and Asian menu. Nice service. Pricey enough.

Had a large group dinner here. Food was above average and service quite good. The real attraction is the view of Moscow from the river on a nice night. Great place for a larger group dinner. More
