At the heart of this philosophy is the belief that a yacht should seamlessly integrate both her interior and exterior, erasing the conventional boundary between the two. Each yacht, in Hot Lab’s vision, becomes a holistic entity, with every component contributing to the overall harmony and aesthetic of the vessel.

For Hot Lab yacht design, the inclusion of elements that provide comfort, appeal to the aesthetic senses, and maximize space is paramount. But, more than just individual elements, it’s the symphony they create together that yacht enthusiasts recognize and admire.

Unlike traditional views which treat the yacht’s exterior and interior as separate entities, Hot Lab yacht design envisions them as two sides of the same coin, creating a unified and singular object.

Another cornerstone of their design philosophy is the emphasis on lighting. Whether derived from the sun’s rays or artificially engineered, light plays a pivotal role.

Without apt illumination, even the most intricate details fade and cannot be observed. Proper lighting not only highlights design nuances but also fosters an ambience conducive to voyages.

Ultimately, by seeing the yacht as an undivided entity, blending her interior and exterior, Hot Lab aims to craft timeless masterpieces. A timeless design ensures that the yacht retains its allure and elegance, celebrating its beauty for decades. In a world where trends come and go, creating something enduring becomes the true testament to design excellence.

Unveiled: Hot Lab's 50m superyacht concept named Yachtster

Milan studio Hot Lab has revealed plans for a 50 metre superyacht concept named Yachtster.

The project is characterised by an open beach club with “two foldable wings on either side”. These act as a pair of sea terraces and afford guests more space at the stern.

Speaking about Yachtster, head of design at Hot Lab Enrico Lumini said: "The Yachtster sets out to be a strong, sporty and masculine vessel. It is defined by its timeless features like the open beach club and big spaces for tenders, toys and amenities."

The concept features the same smooth exterior lines as seen on past Hot Lab works such as Palumbo Yachts' Atlantique series and RMK's 50 metre Aries .

Sun pads are found on the upper deck aft, while an al fresco dining area enjoys shelter from a hardtop and panoramic views from the high vantage point. Forward is a Jacuzzi, with an additional sun lounging area overlooking the vast foredeck.

Elsewhere Yachtster’s main deck aft features an al fresco dining area, with further seating and socialising space. Guests can benefit from the walkways that connect the foredeck with the aft deck, maintaining the “open-feel” observed throughout the design.

Lumini continued: "Low bulwarks were crucial, because we always want to let every guest onboard see what's around him".

The beach club stretches over three levels, with access via glass doors on the lower deck.

Yachtster sleeps up to 12 guests in six cabins, while prospective owners can choose between a hybrid or full electric propulsion system.

Striking yet timeless, the Hot Lab exterior styling is a perfect blend of architectural and automotive design setting a new milestone in luxury life style to indulge into the ultimate super yacht experience. The light flooded interior spaces provide calm and well defined ergonomics with owner and guest comfort and pleasure as primary design focus. A revival of a pre-rationalistic architectural tradition crowned with a reminder of a bygone sophistication with the library and cigar rooms.

The steel and glass structure on the aft sun deck was originally intended by Hot Lab to be a greenhouse, it is in fact a multifunctional space that can be dedicated to a gym, wellness area or more simply as a semi-open lounge. The use of glass renders this structure visually light and perfectly integrated with the shapes of the Icon 73 Milano motoryacht. Again, glass is the element that also characterizes the upper deck: a large portion of the aft decking features flush skylights that allow light circulation with the aft main deck area underneath.

In typical ICON tradition the bow area of the Main deck is dedicated to the tender garage with side shell openings capable of housing two boats up to 8.5m long. Adorned with a dynamic exterior the new Icon 73 Milano features an enormous iconic beach club as a direct extension of the luxurious guest accommodation on the lower deck. The large transom platform opens up to the sea for the ultimate beach experience on the water. The large teak folding platform furnished with sun beds is in direct continuity with the sheltered lounge area featuring bar, sauna and diving equipment store. A scenic corridor that crosses the engine room and links the beach club to the guest area which includes a fully equipped gym.

The transom door can also lowered to create a safe and convenient shallow beach. At night the large glass panes illuminate the space and sea into a pool of LED colours that can be programmed depending on the mood or for party / disco entertainment.

Sirena 42m Superyacht

In 2022, sirena marine unveiled sirena superyachts at the monaco yacht show, realizing their aspiration to cater to clients' yacht dreams across all sizes..

The shipyard boasts a track record of constructing intricate vessels of the highest caliber, with their foundational model range spanning yachts from 16 to 27 meters, having garnered numerous accolades. It was a natural progression for the brand to expand their offerings to include an innovative range of superyacht models at 35 meters, 42 meters, and 50 meters, further enhancing their appeal.

Sirena Superyachts has announced that the construction of their first 42-meter model is scheduled to commence this autumn. Luca Vallebona has been appointed to oversee the exterior and layout, while the interior spaces will be designed by the Italian studio Hot Lab, a member of The Viken Group.

Sirena 42m Superyacht

The design of the 42-meter Sirena Superyachts model can be customized according to the preferences of prospective owners. This includes the flexibility to position the owner’s suite on the main or upper decks, thereby enabling the creation of a dedicated dining space in the saloon, be it formal or informal. Additionally, it allows for establishing a guest area in the bow designed explicitly for exquisite dining experiences or pure relaxation.

The distinction between the interior and exterior becomes indistinguishable upon opening the sliding door at the bow of the owner’s cabin. The patio area is meticulously adorned with various elements, including a pergola, a pool, and a gracefully curved staircase that leads to the upper deck. This deliberate treatment guarantees that this secluded, unforeseen, and luminous space at the front of the boat seamlessly integrates with the overall design of the interior. Consequently, the forward cabin expands its outdoor area, resulting in a distinctive attribute within the contemporary semi-custom market.

Sirena 42m Superyacht

Interior of the 42m Sirena Superyacht

The remaining portion of the primary deck interior area is distinguished by an aft salon that seamlessly extends to the aft pool, positioned slightly lower, and designed to maintain a harmonious connection with the exterior. The salon’s windows are strategically placed to enhance this connection, and deliberate measures have been taken to minimize the presence of lateral pillars, enabling an unobstructed horizontal view that aligns with the surrounding landscape.

Sirena 42m Superyacht Interior

“The four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, with two VIP cabins featuring transverse beds and the entire partition that separates them from the guest cabins serving as a wardrobe,” continues Luca Vallebona. “Thanks to this solution and the en-suite bathrooms that separate them from the technical areas aft (garage and engine room), sound insulation in these spaces is well taken care of. In these cabins as well, the use of curved elements alternating with more rectilinear lines is evident. In general, through the use of curves, large fillets, and dynamic walls, I wanted to create the opportunity for an interior where there is always an element that can stand out from the rest, clear and not redundant.”

Sirena 42m Superyacht Interior

Interior design studio Hot Lab has carefully selected various materials, including natural beech and oak for the sofas, cotton and chenille for upholstery, and metal with a titanium effect for the deckhead panels. This deliberate choice of materials has resulted in a color palette that is light and desaturated. According to Hot Lab, this color range welcomes and accentuates the sun’s rays that permeate every area.

The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.
