Hi, I am new to the site and hope I have poasted this on the correct forum. I would like to hear from any 2000 or newer Tiara 400 espress owners. I am interested in learning your opinions on the under water exaust, mostly on its ability to reduce smoke and soot entering the cockpit. I am considering a 2002 400 express and the big hang-up I have is from my experience on an older boat with the side exaust. The diesel smell and smoke was a big problem for me. Hopfully the re-design of the exaust helped this problem.

I just finished a short block replacement on a 400 tiara today 3208 cats. I started it today and did not notice any smoke in the cockpit. Full sea trial will happen monday Ill have a better idea how it does as far as exhaust in the cockpit then. Just to confirm the exhaust system is similar. It has a water lift muffler with raw water exiting the side of the hull near the front of the engine room with the majority of the gasses going to a under water venturi at the stern outboard.

Exhaust Ports 31. Hello, new here and I just purchased a 1989 31 Open. Been looking for a Tiara for a really long time. Finally found one. It has side underwater exhaust that appears to have some type of molding that is screwed on. One of the moldings on the port side is broken off, starboard side is intact.

The boat was in salt water and now is in fresh water. Motors are Crusader 8.1s We use M/E Yachts on the North side of Holland. They inspected and serviced Crusader manifolds on our last boat, and they take care of our Tiara now. Honest and knowledgable. Probably a little higher $$ than some, but IMO worth it because of reputation.
11-16-2015, 09:02 PM. Has anyone had engine issues caused by the Tiara exhaust systems of a mid 1994 era boat. I ask this question because I have a 1994 4000 express and am working through some performance issues. Over on the boat diesel forum, people are saying my factory exhaust system is a recipe for disaster and will destroy my turbo's.
He had me pull off the fiberglass exhaust cap, clean all the old sealant off and then it was apparent where the water was coming through. I thought the exhaust tube and the hull were one solid piece. The fiberglass exhaust tube is installed into a hole in the hull, then sealed on the outside and glassed over from the inside.

Inboard ski boats use FAE (Fresh Air Exhast) pipes. This is simply taking the exhaust and putting it into the water about 1 foot below to muffle the exhaust and sequester the CO. Also, sound insulation is a must.
