‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Season 4 Reunion Revelations: Where Each Boatmance Stands Post-Filming

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion Revelations Where Each Boatmance Stands Post-Filming 273

Drama from season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht did not remain on board — and the cast had plenty of issues to address during the reunion.

The Bravo special, which aired its first part on Monday, July 17, centered around the challenges that Captain Glenn , Gary King and Daisy Kelliher faced during the latest charter season. A noticeable change from the season 4 finale to the reunion was the distance between Daisy and Colin MacRae .

The former couple, who started a relationship during their time on Parsifal III, did not appear to be on good terms. Daisy hinted at a falling out between her and Colin before they virtually crossed paths after filming season 4.

“I am going to leave it to the reunion. I feel like he [has the most to answer for at the reunion]. I have a lot of love for Colin, but things are complicated,” she explained on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in June when a fan asked why she unfollowed Colin on social media. “I don’t need complication on my social media.”

Before new episodes started to air in April, Daisy also discussed Gary and Colin’s overlapping interest in her. “I definitely feel like [Gary] was jealous. I think the boys — at times it did feel like I was a trophy prize [for them]. I could be completely wrong but [the way they acted felt a] bit like an ego thing going on between the two of them,” she exclusively told Us Weekly that same month. “And I was like, ‘OK, I don’t really want to be involved in this.'”

Part 2 of the season 4 Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion will air on Bravo at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 18.

The Distance Between Daisy and Gary

During the second part of the reunion, Daisy accused Colin of affecting her friendship with Gary. "You made me feel so guilty about Gary. I eventually stopped talking to him and stopped being friends with him," she shared after crying on screen.

Colin and Gary later noted that they wanted to work on their friendship — but neither seemed to have high hopes about their individual relationships with Daisy.

The Truth Behind Daisy and Colin's Connection

According to Daisy and Colin, they originally hooked up before filming season 4. The chief stew, however, accused Colin of being with another woman as well, which he didn't originally disclose. Daisy also claimed Colin told her several times that he wanted to be with her between seasons 2 and 3 — while he was in a serious relationship.

The engineer, for his part, blew off the "irrelevant" comments about their timeline, adding, "This is what nobody knows in the audience. This is why the relationship turned toxic because you can't reason with this woman. I have realized that and I ended things with her."

A-List 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Fans

After Andy Cohen asked whether any celebrities reached out to the season 4 cast, Daisy recalled getting messages from several Hollywood stars.

"I have had a few celebrities reach out to me. I am not going to name drop. But Christina Applegate had reached out to me after I had seen her — she had a nice conversation with Captain Lee," the chief stew shared. "She's a huge fan of the show so it was really exciting. And obviously Chrissy [Teigen] ."

Mads and Alex's New Normal

Mads and Alex confirmed that they have stayed close after sharing a kiss during their last charter. The pair went on to say that a romance didn't seem to be in the cards amid the deckhand's complicated love life.

Daisy vs. Gary's Management Styles

During the first part of the reunion, Daisy put Gary on blast when she questioned his work ethic.

"I think Glenn acknowledges and is aware of how much I do. But possibly he sometimes isn't aware of what Gary doesn't do. Let's put it that way," Daisy quipped. "Gary could probably manage better. He could probably lead better. This isn't about me, this is about Gary."

In response, Glenn noted that Daisy had a "good point" that he didn't know everything about what happens behind the scenes. Gary, for his part, said he stood by the hard work he put into season 4.

Chase and Ileisha's Relationship Status

"After the show finished filming, I went home and ended things with my boyfriend. Chase [Lemacks] and I were just there for each other and he supported me through a lot of hard times," Ileisha Dell , who had a flirty relationship with Chase , revealed at the reunion. "We kind of went back and forth. He came to Australia and I have been to America a couple of times. I even went to Charleston."

The deckhand, meanwhile, admitted that his connection with Ileisha had a major factor working against them.

"The reality of it is that Ileisha is one of the most amazing women I have ever met but we live on the opposite ends of the world," he added. "Australia and Charleston couldn't be farther from each other. There's nothing but love there."

Below Deck: Sailing Yacht Complete Guide: Updates, Cast, Seasons

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

When Below Deck sailed onto Bravo in 2013, it was a hit with fans. It quickly spawned several spin offs. Below Deck Mediterranean debuted in 2013. In February 2020, Below Deck Sailing Yacht premiered.

It followed the lives of “yachties” working on a 177-foot sailing yacht called Parsifal III. This luxurious vessel cruised the Ionian Sea. If you are a newbie, or just brushing up on this franchise, this Below Deck Sailing Yacht guide has everything you need.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Cast Members

Captain Glenn Shephard has been at the helm since the series debuted . He is relaxed until pushed to the limit. During Season 2, Captain Glenn assembled a core team that returned for multiple seasons.

During Season 2, Gary King served as chief officer, and Colin MacRae was the chief engineer. Chief stew Daisy Kelliher also joined the crew. Chef Natasha De Bourg , who had a Michelin-star rating, left after the second season. The guests may have loved her food, but Daisy was critical of her skills.

Chef Ileisha Dell took over the galley during Season 4. She prepared an elaborate, and time-consuming, 10-course meal. Chef’s kiss!

Memorable Moments

There have been plenty of fireworks on this franchise. And we have it all in this handy Below Deck Sailing Yacht guide. During Season 1, Chef Adam Glick and chief stew Jenna MacGillivray hit it off. Their PDA-filled “boatmance” turned off their fellow crew members.

There was baby drama after Season 2 when second stew Dani Soares announced that she was pregnant with Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux’s child. Jean-Luc requested a DNA test , which confirmed he was the father of Dani’s daughter.

And Gary participated in too many romances. During Season 2, he romanced both deckhand Sydney Zaruba and stew Alli Dore .

Then Daisy and Gary had sex between Seasons 3 and 4. During Season 4, Daisy also hooked up with Gary’s buddy, Colin. Yet Gary continued to flirt with Daisy. Season 4 became awkward in a hurry!

Gary was also involved in another romantic entanglement with stew Mads Herrera . But she locked lips with deckhand Alex Propson , too. Season 4 absolutely delivered!

Add in some nautical accidents, too. Captain Glenn hit the dock twice during Season 2. And during Season 3, a hazardous overnight squall put everyone in danger.

All in all, there was plenty of excitement aboard Parsifal III.

Inside Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s Crash, and the Dramatic Aftermath

below deck sailing yacht after show

By Julie Miller

Below Deck viewers have survived kitchen fires, nightmare charter guests , dramatic dismissals, drug scandals , and soured romantic relationships. But Monday’s episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, “Total Ship Show,” is unprecedented in franchise history, in terms of its sheer disaster quotient. Within the first five minutes of the episode, the Parsifal yacht crashes into a stone dock in high winds, destroying the end of the vessel and totaling Captain Glenn Shephard ’s already-dented ego. (Last week, Parsifal suffered a less serious collision. We hope the sailing yacht is not cursed.) The rest of the episode unravels like a high-paced thriller set aboard an out-of-control luxury yacht.

The villains: the shrill, gluten-free charter guests, who are too self-involved to notice the Parsifal ’s jacked transom door. The dramatic B-plot: the chef screwing up a five-course meal by serving steak after dessert. As if this were not enough action for a single episode, there is also an STD scare that forces an otherwise respectable woman to reckon with an indiscretion.

“It was almost like an embarrassment of riches,” said Below Deck executive producer Courtland Cox, of the chart-topping chaos in Croatia. “It’s amazing that this was all happening, but it’s also difficult to tell all of these stories in an interesting way within a limited amount of time per episode.” Some viewers complained that the season was starting off too smoothly, but Cox trusted the process and knew that such interesting cast members would yield climactic story lines. “With any great narrative structure, you want to have peaks and valleys that eventually crescendo into something interesting…. The yacht crashing, guests being crazy, and Jean-Luc [Cerza Lanaux] being worried about getting an STD, all that stuff is the seasoning.”

Ahead, Cox and Parsifal chief stew Daisy Kelliher take us behind the scenes of Monday’s bombshell episode to answer all of our burning questions—about everything from the crash to the onboard romances, including Dani’s pregnancy announcement.

Executive producer Cox was tucked away in a tiny control room on the Parsifal during both accidents, where he was able to watch what was happening from three different camera vantage points, and hear what was happening from the walkie-talkie dialogue on deck. Cox said that he knew that the Parsifal was going to hit the dock about five seconds before it happened—when first mate Gary King began calling out the shrinking measurements between the yacht and the dock, but the boat, because of the intense wind and swell, kept hurtling toward the dock at full speed. Because of a mechanical error that short-circuited the thrusters, Captain Glenn was not able to propel the vessel in the reverse direction.

As the ship sped toward the dock, the Below Deck producer juggled a contradictory range of concerns: the fear of a captive passenger aboard an out-of-control vessel; worry for his fellow shipmates; heartbreak for Captain Glenn, who was about to bite it in front of multiple cameras; and, conversely, the shark-like instincts of a reality-TV producer keen to capture the chaotic melee in all of its gruesome glory.

“The human part of me, my heart aches for Glenn,” Cox told Vanity Fair. Still, he continued, “My job is to capture what’s actually happening—so we told our camera operators, ‘Stay on Glenn.’ We don’t push right up in his face or get in his way, but the story in the moment was that Glenn hit the dock. How was he going to rectify the situation?”

In addition to seeing the crash, viewers also witness Captain Glenn’s spirit breaking close up—as the sweet Parsifal pilot realizes, in devastatingly real time, that he has not only incurred thousands of dollars in yacht damages, but has done so with a camera trained on him.

“I probably watched this episode 15 times in various incarnations, and every time I see Glenn’s face in the immediate aftermath of hitting that dock, I still get very emotional,” said Cox. “It’s a catastrophic moment for any yacht captain when you do damage to a boat. It’s the worst possible thing. And I also know that that’s compounded by a factor of a million because there are TV cameras on you.”

Cox has produced 16 seasons’ worth of Below Deck, and called the crash “the second-most intense moment ever on the series.” (The first-most intense was a near-death accident in 2018 during which deckhand Ashton Pienaar was pulled overboard after his ankle was caught in ropes.) “As a producer, it’s amazingly compelling. But as a person onboard, it’s terrifying…. But Glenn is a consummate professional. He didn’t try to deflect or make excuses or try to tap dance his way out of it. He went quickly into crisis mode, damage mode.”

Parsifal chief stew Daisy Kelliher said that watching the crash in the episode was worse than living it, “because I was downstairs when it happened. I have never seen a boat that crashed the dock or been in a boat that crashed the dock.”

Speaking about Glenn, Kelliher said, “He was pretty upset at the time, but you quickly calm down. It was an accident, and the main thing is nobody got hurt. It’s like banging your car. You get the insurance sorted. You learn from it. And you move on.”

Image may contain Human Person and Photographer

How quickly did the episode’s events happen in real life?

The unfolded over the course of about 72 hours, according to Cox. “The boat hits the dock, it looks terrible, and Glenn’s like, ‘Well, the guests are getting here in four hours.’… The crew did a great job at kind of compartmentalizing, and putting the dock behind us as these charter guests come on. And the story becomes about J.L.’ s anxiety about the STD, and [chef] Natasha’s anxiety about these guests having crazy demands that are emotionally taxing on the heels of a traumatic event…. It’s exhausting for them.”

What did producers make of another unprecedented plot twist: J.L.’s on-camera concerns about a potential sexually transmitted disease?

This twist surprised even Cox. “I’m a fossil who grew up in the ’70s and ’80s,” said Cox. “What was going through my head was, ‘There’s a very easy way he could have prevented this—by using some kind of protection. If you roll the dice, you kinda gotta accept what happens to you. I’m not a heartless monster TV producer. I don’t want anyone to ever suffer or go through something they have an existential crisis over. In that moment, you’re hoping that it’s at least one of the lesser STDs that is easily treated.”

When did producers discover that Dani was pregnant? (The cast member revealed her pregnancy on Instagram last month.)

“Dani brought it to our attention when we were pretty far into the postproduction process,” said Cox. “Even once Dani found out, I think she kind of wanted to sit with [the news] herself. Then she let us know and said, ‘Hey, just so you know, I’m pregnant.’ We said, ‘Okay, great.’ I left that up to her and how much information she wanted to give us. My first reaction was, ‘That’s fantastic. Congratulations.’ Because she made it clear throughout the season that she wanted a family. The rest of that is for Dani to figure out.”

“I really don’t ask Dani much about it,” added Kelliher in a separate phone call. “I’m very aware that that she probably feels like she’s explaining herself to a lot of people. So I try and respect her privacy. We’ve spoken a little about it, but I figure the less I know the better.”

Do Daisy and Natasha eventually get to a place of mutual understanding and respect?

“I didn’t mind her,” said Kelliher. “On the show it looks like we hated each other. We were very civil with each other, and would laugh and sit with each other. It wasn’t constant arguing—that only came when it was time to serve meals…. At that stage, I had kind of given up, because I had tried everything. She didn’t want my help. She didn’t want to communicate with me…. I’m asking you if you’re serving five courses, you’re telling me no. I could stand here and keep arguing, but I wasn’t going to win in this.… We have a good relationship now. I have respect for her. But that [tension] never changes.”

What is Daisy’s read on the love triangle tensions between Gary, Sydney, and Alli?

“I wish I had been there for some of the conversations [between the three of them], because I don’t think they would have escalated as much,” said Kelliher. “I do think Sydney was pretty intense. I knew she was upset and understood why she was upset. If you’re a girl, it’s embarrassing if somebody chooses someone over you…. But some of the things she said were quite mean to Ali, and I didn’t really like that. If I had been there, that wouldn’t have happened because I wouldn’t have allowed it.”

“I’ve definitely seen love triangles. I’ve been involved in love triangles. This was intense because it escalated so quickly. I didn’t really get it. I guess maybe we’re all intense people—maybe that’s why you do a TV show about yachting. But I did find the whole thing a bit weird from all sides. I was like, ‘We’ve known each other [for] like three weeks…and don’t even know each others’ last names.’ Settle down.”

Daisy Kelliher, Gary King and Colin MacRae are opening up about the status of their love triangle. During part two of the   Below Deck Sailing Yacht  reunion on Tuesday, the trio shared what happened after the cameras stopped rolling on season 4.

"We explored something together," Colin said of himself and Daisy. "The first time I saw her again was at the Newport boat show, I flew her over from the U.K. to come see me; that was really good. Then, there was a couple of other things that we did. We spent a week together in Mexico, I flew to New York to see her. We were kinda bouncing around together for a little while."

Things, however, eventually "turned a little toxic," according to Colin.

"You can't reason with this woman," he said, "and I realized that and I ended things with her."

Daisy had a different view of the situation. Though she admitted that she and Colin "triggered each other," she claimed that her ex was "missing the whole point of why it really turned badly."

"When I found out he had broken up with his ex-girlfriend in April, I was like, 'OK, great!' Not great, because they broke up; great, because possibly something could happen between Colin and I. We knew we liked each other, we could feel it," she said. "So, I returned to the boat and I find out that he has been sleeping with someone that he's working with. So, I immediately retreat. I put up all of my walls. This is nothing that gets shown. Nothing that's aired."

As such, Daisy admitted that she became "very defensive," but called out Colin for making her "feel incredibly guilty" about her long-running flirtation with Gary.

"Throughout the year, I asked about this woman, and I asked why it was different with me and Gary and not this woman? And he said, 'The difference is, I am telling you, there is nothing between me and this woman. That there is no future; even if you and I break up, there is no future,'" she claimed. "So, then to find out from my crew members a couple of months after we had broken up, that he was now in a serious relationship with this woman, it was very shocking for me to hear. Very hurtful. And, the toxicity was always there because the trust was never there."

Colin and Daisy went on to reveal that they first got together  before  the season. While Colin claimed Gary was "stoked" about the then-budding relationship, Colin said that, at the time, he didn't know about Daisy and Gary's history.

As for why they kept their pre-season kisses under wraps, Daisy explained, "I A) wasn't trying to start a relationship. I wasn't like, 'I kissed this guy three times, I'm in a relationship.' B)…I didn’t know about his current girlfriend that he was hooking up with, OK? So, C) when he told me about this girl, it made me take a step back."

"Yes, I was still hooking up with him. Guess what? I'm 36 in 2023. I can kiss multiple people and not feel ashamed for it!" she said. "So, yeah, when Colin and I were kissing, we still hadn't slept together at this stage, and he told me that he had been sleeping with someone else. So, I was like, 'OK, I guess we're, like, kinda figuring stuff out."

It's for that reason that Daisy was annoyed by the blowback to her drunken truth-or-dare kiss with Alex.

"For me to be held accountable for that, when yeah, OK, Colin and I kissed in a hotel room. So what? Now I'm exclusive? No!" she said. "And it made me put my walls up when I found out he had been sleeping with someone."

Colin claimed the situation "was a lot deeper than that," and alleged that Daisy knew about the other girl, which she denied. Colin continued insisting as much, though, causing Daisy to burst into tears and storm off the set.

"We knew this was going to happen," Colin said over Daisy's sobs. "What I've said is the truth. I've just laid it all out there. Now it's my fault that I'm with somebody else, because we turned toxic? It makes no sense."

When Daisy returned to the reunion, she lamented how she felt "f**ked either way" she approached the whole situation.

"I'm always going to be the bitter, angry, crazy woman. I'm never going to win. It's never gonna matter what I say," she said. "... I defend myself, I'm defensive. I sleep with someone, I'm a slut. I speak up, I'm angry or toxic. I stay silent and I’m weak."

Colin noted that while his and Daisy's connection was "genuine," the arguing got to be too much, so, weeks later, he started a new relationship. All the while, Daisy claimed, Colin made her "feel so guilty about Gary.

"I eventually stopped talking to him. I eventually stopped being friends with him. It turned into a roaring match," she said of Gary, before calling Colin for his own flirting with Ilesha.

"The thing that killed me all season, Daisy, is you kept telling me over and over and over, you didn't have feelings for Gary and that it was me that you wanted to be with over and over and over, and then I'm watching it back, I didn't feel that's the case," Colin responded.

Daisy admitted that she feels "nothing but remorse and shame" for how behaved with Gary, but said she "was scared of getting hurt."

While Gary confessed that he had "deep down" feelings for Daisy, she said she "felt like a piece of meat" between him and Colin.

"I felt like I was a prize. It felt like it was an ego competition," she said. "I don't think Gary had genuine feelings for me. I do think we have a genuine connection, in that sense of what we do the show, and you have this bond. We've been through so much, and we do make each other laugh and feel good, but I think that's just on a feel-good level, and I think he confused that and I think I'm allowed to confuse that. I think we're all trying to figure things out."

While she was trying to figure things out, Daisy admitted that she was falling in love with Colin.

"I was more betrayed by the fact that he didn't tell me he was with this girl," she said. "I thought we were friends and I thought we built a good friendship, and knowing that all of these people on this screen knew this for months before I did, it was humiliating."

As for where they go from here, Daisy said she considers Gary a friend and will coexist as coworkers, and he remarked that they'll "never [be] how we were." Gary and Colin, meanwhile, have maintained a "pretty good" friendship. When it comes to Daisy and Colin, he said he was open to repairing things with her.

"I have regrets, but more importantly I know I have a good heart and I know my intentions were good," Daisy said. "Onwards and upwards."

Here’s What the Cast of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Is Currently Up to Now

Are Jenna and Adam still together?

below deck sailing yacht season 1

From a spontaneous proposal failing spectacularly to a joke about being breastfed as an adult, Sailing Yacht was as much a dramatic success as the other franchises. It also left fans wondering about what's happening to the crew since the show wrapped. Did chief stew Jenna and chef Adam stay together? What's going on with Georgia's music? And most important—is Captain Glenn really as cool as we think he is?

Here's what the cast of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht is up to now:

Jenna MacGillivray

When the Canadian stepped onto the Parsifal III, fans got exactly what they hoped for in a chief stew—a no-nonsense leader who also had a romantic spot in her heart for the chef in the galley. Though her relationship with Adam Glick proved to be tumultuous, the two dated for some time after the season wrapped, even taking some time to road-trip together.

These days, Jenna is enjoying some time off from yachting, but given her recent IG pics, she's excited to come back to another charter season.

Madison Stalker

Wherever Madison went, drama always seemed to follow the second stew during season one of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht . In between epic meltdowns (including a major one between her and Jenna over her lack of enthusiasm for her job), she left the boat a better person and leaving fans ready to see more from their new favorite cast member.

Judging by her Instagram account, she's taken a break from yachting (perhaps until next season of the show).

Georgia Grobler

As good of a third stew Georgia was on deck, fans were more invested in her budding music career and growing feelings for a very taken Paget. She proved she was great at her job and could make a career out of yachting.

While it's unclear whether she stayed in the yachting industry post- Sailing Yacht , Georgia's working on music, premiering new music videos on IGTV during the quarantine.

Below Deck Med fans were so excited when Adam joined the crew as the chef for Sailing Yacht . While he abided by the preference sheets this time around, he also began a rocky romance with chief stew Jenna, making most of the crew members wonder if he was there for his job or the girl.

Since the show wrapped, Adam's busy onshore, cooking, and traveling with his adorable puppy. Oh, and Adam has a web series, Stoked , where he travels across the country to meet with local chefs and learn about their regions... all while over a campfire.

Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan

If there was any couple to root for from the entire Below Deck franchise, it's Paget and Ciara. The duo made a great team on deck, and mostly kept their relationship to a minimum on cameras—a first for Bravo! As they were the most familiar with the Parsifal III, the couple was the most reliable, and fans loved seeing their relationship continue blossoming post-filming.

These days, the couple has a lot to be excited about—they're now engaged. While they're soaking up their romantic bliss, they're also still working in yachting, although it's sadly on separate boats.

Byron Hissey

As the chief engineer of Parsifal III, Byron was clearly there to just do his job. But, given how he was the only cast member to have a wife and child back home, he also became the dad of the group, taking care of the other crew members.

Since filming wrapped, it looks like Byron is back on a boat doing exactly what he does best—fixing and making sure the engines run smoothly.

Parker McCown

Relatively new to the yachting industry, fans are more likely to remember the deckhand for his enraged rant about being breastfed by his mother. While he didn't necessarily have all the skills to make it as a deckhand, he definitely had a soft spot for his ex-girlfriend Kaiti, whom he eventually left Parsifal III to go back to at home.

It looks like the decision to leave the show worked out for Parker, as he's now engaged to Kaiti and writing some tunes while onshore.

Chris Miller

As Parker's replacement for the latter half of the season, Chris proved a great deckhand and an asset to the team, all while battling an injury.

These days, Chris seems to be taking some time off from yachting to travel across Europe.

Captain Glenn Sheppard

Captain Glenn was tough, fair, and not afraid to have a good time, which both crew and guests very much appreciated.

Thankfully, his reality TV experience hasn't turned him off yachting forever. Glenn is still the captain for Parsifal III and traveling through the Mediterranean.

Headshot of Adrianna Freedman

Adrianna Freedman writes all things TV and film for Cosmo . When not binge-watching the latest series on Netflix, she is busy singing along to her favorite artists/showtunes, consuming too many coffees a day and dreaming about penning her next big story.

Terrible Audio Quality

Content is good. Hosts are reasonable funny. But the audio quality is so bad that it’s hard to listen. Even the lead hosts sound echoey and terrible. Some participants sound like they’re phoning in from a cheap cell phone or a laptop microphone. Not a single participant has decent audio. Get better quality mics and record in a walk-in closet.

BDSY: What Happened To Alex Propson After Season 4

Deckhand Alex Propson and Chase Lemacks held down the fort on Parsifal III despite the rudderless leadership of First Officer Gary King throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 . Alex bonded with Chase right from the get-go when they had to man the superyacht without the South African reality TV star who was recovering from a COVID-19 infection. Alex didn’t get a lot of airtime on the show, although he did catch the fancy of stewardess Mads Herrera . Of course Gary went after the girl who caught both his subordinates’ eyes, and hooked up with her throughout the season. Nevertheless, Alex’s patience and chill vibe eventually won over Mads, compared to Gary’s childish and drunken antics. Despite the aspiring model and actor not getting a lot of screentime, he managed to snag a role on Bravo’s upcoming season of Winter House . So, what happened to Alex Propson after filming BDSY 4 other than finding his next big break?

Alex finished the season strong, stealing away Mads from Gary on the last crew night out. At the beginning of the season, he also caught the eye of Chief Stewardess Daisy Kelliher , who repeatedly commented on how attractive she found him. By the end of the season he’d become good friends with stew Lucy Edmunds , who fans believe he lowkey dated on the show , Mads, Chase and Chef Ileisha Dell . His friendship with the latter three led to a California road trip in a campervan to Joshua Tree National Park, LA and San Francisco in November 2022. Before that though, Alex traveled part of Europe when he finished the charter season in late July in Sardinia, Italy . He traveled to Venice, Rome, Hydra and Santrotini in Greece, Turkey, and Thailand.

In the New Year, Alex kept a pretty lowkey profile for the most part. He posted a few pictures of himself in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he lives and works as a captain on smaller vessels and is a licensed yacht broker. In early June, Alex flew out to NYC along with Daisy, Chase and Mads to film an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Bravo head honcho Andy Cohen. While on the show, he revealed he currently has a girlfriend (sorry ladies) and she doesn’t enjoy watching him on BDSY season 4. It’s someone he previously dated in LA he’s since reconnected with, so it may be his ex girlfriend. While in Manhattan he also partied with some of his Winter House co-stars.

More recently, Alex has helped out his buddy Chase refurbish an old sailboat he bought . Chase said he’s also helping Alex shopping for a houseboat. It looks like Alex may be following in Chase and Chief Engineer Colin MacRae ‘s footsteps in becoming a boating influencer. Unfortunately for fans who liked Alex, he won’t be returning as part of the BDSY season 5 cast .

We’ll have to wait and see to find out what else we can learn happened to Alex after the show when the two-part BDSY season 4 reunion releases .

‘Below Deck’ Sails Into a New Era

With a different captain at the helm and new production elements, the reality show about charter yachts is switching up its style.

A man in a crew member suit stands behind a bar and tends to flowers in a vase.

By Shivani Gonzalez

Starting a new season of “ Below Deck ” can be similar to returning to summer camp as a kid — you know it’s going to be fun and that you’ll be in the same environment, but some of the people will be different and you’re not quite sure what the vibes will be.

This time around, in particular, feels that way because for the first time in the show’s 11-season run, Captain Lee Rosbach is no longer at the helm. It’s a pivotal moment for a franchise that has become one of the most popular entities in the sprawling universe of reality TV since premiering on Bravo in 2013 . The show’s appeal was built on endless romances between various crew members (“boatmances,” as they came to be known), horrible charter guests and some sort of passive-aggressive fight about how many shackles of the anchor chain should be in the water. And there was always Rosbach presiding over the drama as he trudged around the boat, reeling off one liners like “I’m madder than a pissed-on chicken” and “we screwed the pooch so many times we should have a litter of puppies running around.”

At the center of the show now is Kerry Titheradge (the stern yet goofy captain of “Below Deck Adventure” fame), who is managing the Motor Yacht Saint David with the cheeky chief stew Fraser Olender by his side.

With that change in captain, the energy on the boat — both onscreen and off — is different, according to Olender.

“I feel like Kerry this season, as opposed to Lee, has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” Olender said in an interview. “With Kerry, he taught me a lot and sort of forced to me confront issues directly with my team, work them out, as opposed to making executive decisions too soon.”

This shift in management style changes the central conflict — whereas the drama once focused on the captain swiftly kicking out any unpleasant crew member (as we might have seen with Rosbach), the drama now focuses on the whole crew trying to get along (since Titheradge gives people those second chances).

Additionally, Olender noted that the captain’s relationship with the crew can also affect the drama on board.

“Captains absolutely do get involved, whether they know it or not,” Olender said, adding that for the crew, everything is about “trying to impress your captain.”

This phenomenon plays out early in the new season when the lead deckhand, Ben Willoughby, called out a fellow crew member over the radios about not wearing a life vest — something he easily could have done in private. The drama that followed became an interpersonal conflict between the two of them, both with the ultimate goal of impressing Titheradge. (Of course, the two deckhands had kissed on the previous crew night out, which is more in line with the “Below Deck” drama viewers are used to.)

For “Below Deck” showrunners, the changeovers in the cast allowed them to rethink what the show would look like.

From the season premiere, it was immediately apparent that Rosbach’s absence wasn’t the only change this season: The filming is sleeker, the daily, multicourse meals prepared by the chef are given their own glamour shots and the cameras sometimes cut to the perspectives of yachties running around on deck and through the galley.

“Our showrunner, Lauren Simms, is an avid consumer of all different kinds of media,” Noah Samton, a senior vice president of unscripted current production for NBCUniversal, said in an interview. “She pitches us different ideas on how to stylistically evoke different feelings and change the mood a little bit of ‘Below Deck’ without removing what really works.”

Moving through the rest of the season, and potentially through seasons to come, Olender is aiming to bring a cutthroat management style while also bringing affection for his stews, all with his signature British humor.

On Bravo’s side, there are changes in the works for the other “Below Deck” spinoffs — including “Sailing Yacht,” “Mediterranean” and “Down Under” — which collectively, have 26 seasons. Specifically, Samton said that “Down Under” is currently filming and that even though fans should be ready to see new things, the show will stay true to its original concept.

“These are real yachties doing a real job so you have to stay within those confines because the audience isn’t going to want anything that is too produced or fake,” Samton said. “So we have to find ways to reinvent while staying true to the original concept of the show.”

And as Olender said: “I’m sure that every year if I were to work with this franchise again, that I’ll be thrown a collection of total chaotic and disastrous stews — that’s what makes it watchable.”

Below Deck Recap: Barbie Land

below deck sailing yacht after show

It’s a beautiful new morning on the St. David , and Captain Kerry’s attention to detail is as impressive as ever. He scolds Kyle for a drain cover left out — god forbid the guests see it and are reminded they’re on a boat.

Last week’s cliffhanger is resolved: Eileen seems fine and didn’t die in her sleep from a concussion. Kerry wisely has the crew put Eileen on watch for the rest of the charter. He then casually tells us how he once duct-taped a guest to their bed, which actually seems less humiliating than having your drunken discoordination shown on TV the number of times they’ve replayed Eileen’s fall.

At breakfast, primary Tina wears a T-shirt that boldly says, “She can.” What does this mean? Sadly, I don’t have much time to ponder it because the guests change into new custom shirts for their volleyball game. It’s Chicago (Illinois) vs. the Crop Tops (Iowa), and the latter’s shirts aren’t crop tops. Why make the pun if you were going to wear normal tank tops?

Fraser and Jared round out the teams and are spared the shirts but do have to wear pink sweatbands. The music and slo-mo get very intense for the final point, and I suddenly feel like a sports reporter. Chicago wins 21-19 in a nail-biter, not that we care. After his team loses, Jared again tries and fails to get cell service to talk to his daughter. She probably would’ve loved his sweatbands. The poor guy cannot catch a break.

And the sports coverage isn’t over yet! Kerry thinks the solution to Cat’s fitting-in problems will be electric surfing using his eFoil. This is misguided for two reasons: (1) The last time I saw someone e-surfing, it was  Mark Zuckerberg getting ridiculed by the whole internet , and (2) co-workers tend to dislike it when the boss shows favoritism,   even if your “therapy is salt water.” Of course, Cat’s special break annoys Barbie. For once, Barbie stays chill about it.

Barbie claims she respects Fraser and wants to get along, but she can’t help but make passive-aggressive comments. Fraser even compliments her vaguely Italian tablescape. She lets a barb (pun intended) slip: “I’m used to having a chief stew who tells me [what to do].” Fraser starts having war flashbacks to Camille and gossips to Anthony about the situation, gunning again for Barbie to leave. Barbie may have an attitude, but it seems like her work ethic will protect her from getting fired.

Is Barbie the main character of this season? Time will tell, but she definitely feels like the lead of this episode. She has drama with her boss AND a love triangle. Well, now it’s more of a love line plus a dot off to the side that wishes it was part of the triangle. In case that was unclear, the dot is Jared. Jared thinks he’s flirting with Barbie because she’s a pretty human woman who is talking to him normally.

As for the Italian dinner, the guests love Anthony’s cooking. And I love that he’s self-aware enough to call himself a little French guido. Tonight, he moved on from beet cappuccino to mushroom cappuccino with foie gras. Tina raves that she didn’t think something in a glass could be so good. In the last episode, I was starting to think her anti-glass stance was responsible because her friends kept breaking glass, whether in cup or door form. But after that comment it seems like she just really loves the flavor of microplastics and BPA.

At dinner, we also learned that before yachting, Barbie sold golf balls, hair straighteners, and finance on Wall Street in the Trump building. I’m not sure if the guests’ blank looks and “Okay, yeah” response is because they don’t want to talk politics or if they’re as confused as I am about what “selling finance” means. Did Barbie sell stocks? Bonds? The vague concept of money? Was she in a pyramid scheme?

Xandi tells Cat that of the guys on the boat, Fraser is most her type. Girl. She also reveals she’s divorced, and her dad had an affair with her ex-husband’s mom. Which is not as horrible as Anthony’s uncle having an affair with his wife, but what is up with this crew’s family members?!

Speaking of family, it’s the two-year anniversary of Anthony’s dad’s death. Fraser especially feels for Anthony because his dad is a cancer survivor. I really like their friendship. If anyone makes Anthony’s day harder today, we riot. He says opening a restaurant in Miami was his and his dad’s dream. Hopefully, he fulfills it, and I will be first in line to try whatever vegetable cappuccino he’s serving.

As St. David prepares to dock, Jared is a mess: he’s on the wrong side of the boat, still doesn’t know a meter is basically a yard, and has to scramble to get a bolster down when they’re only a meter away from the dock. Miraculously, the boat doesn’t crash. Jared felt great about it, completely unaware that he was giving everyone else an anxiety attack. Kerry calls him in for a chat and tries to explain what he needs, hopefully getting through to Jared this time, who says it’s “crystal clear.” Let’s hope that crystal wasn’t cleaned by Cat.

The guests were blissfully unaware of the near-crash and tip a generous $26,000. As they leave, Tina says “we’ll be back” which feels more like a threat than a compliment.

Kerry thinks Sunny has been doing a great job and has her practice driving the tender. Ben gives her a lesson, and she says she wants to become a bosun. I wonder if this is foreshadowing that Jared’s position will open up, but as lead deckhand, Ben would have seniority for that. They seem really into each other but are not yet a strong enough couple to handle any crew change-ups that may come.

To start their night off, the girls and boys separate. Did Barbie suggest a girls’ night just to avoid Fraser? Maybe. Everyone is revealing their red flags: Kyle started smoking at 12 years old. Jared is an angry drunk at 7:30 p.m. And Barbie is actually still legally married and friends with her ex/technically current husband. She claims they simply haven’t felt like going through the paperwork.

When the girls and boys meet up, Barbie tells Kyle he has “hot vibes” so it seems like Jared may get the hint. Meanwhile, Cat uses time in which she could be bonding with her coworkers to instead call a friend to discuss how she’s not vibing with the rest of the crew. Shockingly, e-surfing with the boss didn’t help.

Some of the group continues the party back in the boat’s hot tub, where Ben kisses Sunny, and Kyle kisses his tobacco pipe. They’re too loud, accidentally waking up Captain Kerry, who’s trying to sleep. This prompts Ben and Sunny to take things to the shower. Ben says he’s not ashamed to be caught with his pants down, but technically, he is not wearing any pants, only a towel. Sunny and Ben cuddle in bed.

At the hot tub, Jared, Barbie, and Kyle are left cleaning up. Barbie and Kyle make plans to watch “ Home Alone  or something boring.” (I must defend that  Home Alone  is not boring!) Jared notices Kyle spills some tobacco, and they both clean it up. Jared’s frustrated he can’t properly clean it because the deck is wet, but I find it hard to believe this boat doesn’t have a wet vac.   He makes a big deal of being mad about the mess, which is a flimsy cover for being mad   that Barbie is into Kyle.

Jared continues cleaning alone, then brings Kyle’s tobacco pouch down to him in Barbie’s room. Jared goes to his own room but can’t let it go and returns to Barbie’s unannounced. Thankfully he doesn’t walk in on anything because Barbie is practically edging Kyle, cleaning up her room while he waits on the bed. Jared asks Kyle to make sure there’s no more tobacco on the deck. Kyle says he’ll do it in a few hours when he’s up at 4 a.m. Drunk Jared wanders around the deck, cleaning and muttering.

Jared returns a third time and pulls mid-toothbrushing Kyle for a chat. He claims the reason he pulled Kyle aside to tell him to clean up is because “I don’t wanna do that in front of other people,” when we all know the reason is “I didn’t want you and Barbie in a room together.” Barbie, ever the hard worker, does her laundry in the background of this conversation. Kerry comes down, angry, because he can hear them two decks up. Will this be Jared’s undoing?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Is the Future of Bravo's Ever-Expanding Franchise

Below Deck mainstays Captain Lee Rosbach, Gary King, Captain Glenn Shephard, Captain Sandy Yawn, and Daisy Kelliher (Photos: Bravo; Primetimer graphic)

In the 10 years since Below Deck set sail, the series has taken Bravo by storm, dominating the ratings and introducing millions of viewers to life on the high seas. What started as a single show set in the Caribbean has evolved into an empire with four spinoffs — Below Deck Mediterranean , Sailing Yacht , Down Under , and Adventure — each helmed by a different captain with their own unique leadership style.

By now, after 25 seasons spread across the franchise, fans know exactly what to expect: Captains will clash with their crew members; third stewards will disrespect the chain of command; people will get blackout drunk and make out in the hot tub; a chef will unleash hell upon the galley while preparing a 10-course tasting menu. And so it goes as Bravo's hit series expands to different corners of the globe, offering slight variations but never straying too far from the original format.

Below Deck has never been bigger, but with the show celebrating its 10th anniversary on July 1, it's only fair to ask what's in store for the franchise's next decade on Bravo and Peacock. For the first time in years, the flagship series and its many spinoffs are heading into uncharted waters. In a major shakeup, Below Deck proper will be moving on without Captain Lee Rosbach, who has been with the show for all 10 seasons, after he was forced out by the network. While Bravo's postseason "Ce-LEE-Bration" suggested he was retiring from yachting, Lee, who spent time away from Season 10 due to health issues, claims he was told executives want to "move in a new direction," though he's said he'll still "be doing some things for [Bravo] in the next year." Adventure 's Captain Kerry Titheradge is set to replace Captain Lee, but the game of musical chairs also leaves the fate of the cold-weather iteration, which has not yet been renewed for a second season, in jeopardy.

The first spinoff, Below Deck Mediterranean , has problems of its own. Of the franchise's current captains, Med 's Captain Sandy Yawn is by far the least popular (seemingly with fans and crew members alike): Her tendency to micromanage the interior team and play favorites with the deck crew has led to six seasons of intense conflict, culminating in the questionable firing of longtime chief stew Hannah Ferrier in Season 5. The show never quite recovered, and in the two seasons since, the cast has been made up of journeymen who do their jobs and deliver a little drama along the way (like the toxic relationship between chef David White and chief stew Natasha Webb last year), but fail to make a lasting impression.

Amid all this uncertainty, Below Deck Sailing Yacht has emerged as the future of the franchise. Much of the show's success stems from the continuity of its cast: While Below Deck and Med have featured a revolving door of crew members since the departure of their longtime chief stews, Hannah and Kate Chastain , respectively, Sailing Yacht 's core group has remained the same for three seasons. Captain Glenn Shephard first stepped aboard Parsifal III when the show debuted in 2020, but he really found his groove the following season, when chief stew Daisy Kelliher, first officer Gary King, and chief engineer Colin MacRae joined the team.

Like Down Under 's Captain Jason Chambers, Glenn is always willing to lend a hand, and though he sets high standards for his team, he's far more forgiving of their mistakes. (Glenn has only fired three people in four seasons; Sandy fired two in just nine episodes when she filled in for Lee.) As the years have passed, Daisy, Colin, and Gary have embraced Glenn's loosey-goosey attitude — some may say too much — giving the show a more relaxed energy than its motored counterparts, even at its most stressful moments.

At the same time, the stability among the crew heightens the drama. On other spinoffs, if a stew is trading jabs with the chef or two deckhands are feuding over the anchor watch schedule, it's difficult to get fully invested in the conflict, as it likely won't matter at the end of the charter season, when they'll wave goodbye from the dock and never be seen again. (And with Below Deck airing year-round, workplace clashes like these quickly blend together.) However, on Sailing Yacht , these disputes follow the cast from one season to the next, and each slight piles up like layers on a primary's birthday cake. That's been the case with Daisy and Gary, who began their tenure at each other's throats but have since developed a better working relationship. Still, they understand exactly how to get under the other's skin, and they wield that knowledge like a weapon, as when Gary insists he needs a stew to serve drinks on the tender, and Daisy responds by pretending she can't hear him, sending them fuming to opposite ends of the boat.

The Sailing Yacht crew's familiarity with one another — and viewers' familiarity with them — has led to one of the most exciting reality TV plotlines of the year: the Daisy-Gary-Colin love triangle. Daisy and Gary had a steamy makeout in the hot tub last season, but their fling ended there (or so viewers thought); this year, after the tender incident, Daisy turns to Colin as a sounding board, and the two share a long-awaited kiss of their own. They begin a casual relationship, but every night off, Gary, who isn't getting the attention he wants from junior stew Mads Herrera, throws himself at Daisy, creating a rift in his friendship with Colin. Halfway through the season, Gary drunkenly reveals something they agreed to keep secret: "Having sex with you was f*cking amazing," he says, as Daisy eyes the camera and tells him to "shut the f*ck up."

In order to fully understand what's going on — the continued flirting between Gary and Daisy, her friendship with the men, and Colin's reaction to his friend's betrayal — and why it's happening, viewers must be aware of their complicated history. Bravo helps out by offering a lengthy recap to open Season 4, Episode 9, "Love Boat," after Daisy and Colin's first kiss, but the two-minute montage doesn't come close to capturing 40 episodes worth of jealous looks and playful banter. As with Vanderpump Rules ' #Scandoval , fans must be well-versed in the ins and outs of Sailing Yacht to appreciate just how delicious the Daisy-Gary-Colin love triangle really is.

The sailing itself also poses problems that don't affect crews on the more traditional, motored vessels in the Below Deck fleet. Every charter, Daisy and her team have to quite literally batten down the hatches as Glenn turns off the engine, raises the genoa and mizzen, and allows the wind to do its thing. Almost always, their efforts are insufficient, and the 20-plus degree heel sends food and glassware flying. The stress caused by this activity, which delights the guests like nothing else, only compounds existing tensions, as it feeds into the narrative that the deck crew gets to have fun sailing while the stews are forced to clean up their mess inside. This interior vs. exterior battle is one of Below Deck 's most consistent themes, but here, it's baked into each charter, giving producers the ability to play up the drama elsewhere.

As Sailing Yacht Season 4 has shown, that drama doesn't have to be romantic; it can also be of the mechanical variety. Boat issues are nothing new for Below Deck — near-crashes and ringing alarms are a constant, no matter how skilled the captain — but Parsifal has been particularly finicky this season, leaving Colin to contend with a stalled engine, a clogged plumbing system, and leaky exhaust pipes. Because Colin, the franchise's lone engineer, is directly involved in the cast, his herculean effort to fix the boat becomes part of the season's narrative, rather than something that's resolved off-camera by a group of mysterious, unseen employees . Colin's work is unglamorous and often thankless, but it's essential: Not only does he keep the boat running in moments of crisis, but his time in the engine room offers a more complete look at what's really going on below decks.

It took some time for Below Deck Sailing Yacht to come into its own, but as the Season 4 finale approaches, it's apparent that the show is poised to carry on the franchise's legacy. With the original shows floundering, Sailing Yacht 's long-gestating conflicts and the goofy, mild-mannered captain at its center have proven to be the wind behind Below Deck 's sails. So long as this cast sticks around, fans can expect the reality series to sail toward even greater success in the future.

The two-episode Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 finale airs Monday, July 10 at 8:00 PM ET on Bravo. Join the discussion about the show in our forums.

In addition, fans are curious to find out if Xandi Olivier will develop a love relationship with any of the cast members—especially after she divulged information regarding her previous marriage in the most recent episode. It remains to be seen if anyone on the yacht will be interested in this information.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King breaks silence after BravoCon removal

Gary King on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King has broken his silence after he was removed from BravoCon amid some serious allegations.

In August, news broke that a Below Deck Sailing Yacht production team member had accused Gary of sexual misconduct.

A month later, Gary was taken off the list of yachties attending BravoCon , an event he was a fan favorite at last year.

BravoCon takes place this weekend, with Bravoleberties taking on Las Vegas.

Ahead of the three-day event, Gary shared his first message in months that made quite a statement.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Gary King breaks silence after BravoCon removal

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Gary shared a post of him posing in a field of Daisies in South Africa. Gary has a serious look that’s a vast difference from how Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers see him on the show.

“It’s sad that people will do anything in their power to bring you down. It’s not about how you fall but how you get up. Luckily for me the fall was into a sea of daisies 🌼,” was the caption on Gary’s IG post.

It wasn’t just the caption that alluded to the allegations against Gary. The hashtag spoke volumes about how Gary feels about being dismissed from BravoCon and the claims made.

Gary called the allegations against him a lie, told people not to believe everything they see, and called out the media. He also declared he wouldn’t do what he was being accused of doing and that Gary continues to hold his head up high.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht star also used hashtags for the show and shared he’s moving on. Gary didn’t get into specifics of what that means.

However, there’s no question that the timing of his first social media message in months was to address his BravoCon absence.

Gary has earned support from some of his costars since the allegations broke.

The comments section of Gary’s post showed not all of his former crew members had abandoned him during this time.

Captain Glenn Shephard became very close with Gary after they filmed Season 2 of the sailing show. They work together on Parsifal III even when the cameras aren’t rolling.

The captain was one of the first to pop up with emojis that kicked off an exchange of bro love between him and Gary.

Season 4 chef Ileisha Dell also showed her love for Gary as the two had a little back-and-forth to reveal they are still friends.

Gary King from Below Deck Sailing Yacht won’t be at BravoCon and has addressed his absence the day before the big fan event.

As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Captain Glenn, Colin MacRae, and Daisy Kelliher will all be at BravoCon. No doubt, the three of them will be asked about Gary at some point.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently on hiatus on Bravo. Seasons 1-4 are streaming on Peacock.

Why ashley marti didn't show up to the below deck sailing yacht reunion.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Ashley Marti reveals she didn't attend the season 3 reunion. Many fans are disappointed at her lack of accountability.

Ashley Marti disappointed viewers when she announced that she wouldn’t appear in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 reunion, and she gave a lengthy explanation on her Instagram story.  Ashley’s stint on BDSY was controversial  due to her relationships with First Officer Gary King and second stew Gabriela Barragan. When Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher chose Gabriela as the second stew over Ashley, it created friction between the interior team. Ashley was sorely disappointed about being the third stew and undermined Gabriela’s authority. When Gabriela spoke to Ashley in confidence about struggling emotionally, Ashley promised not to repeat their conversation but ended up telling Daisy.

From the first night of the crew meeting, Ashley had her sights set on Gary. Although he found her attractive, she wanted a more serious relationship than he was able to commit to at the time. However, she continued to pursue him and became resentful when he flirted with Daisy and Gabriela. During a night off, Ashley and a very drunk Gary went into one of the guest cabins and hooked up. Many BDSY viewers were outraged by her aggressive nature and thought she had taken advantage of Gary, who claimed to not have remembered anything the next morning.

Reddit user feedmechickentendies captured a screenshot of Ashley’s Instagram Story, detailing why she chose not to film the BDSY season 3 reunion. She shared, “ At the time it was filmed I did not have the energy nor desire to continue to be a puppet for bravo, in addition to feeling like I would not be able to fully tell my side of the story due to editing .” The BDSY stew thanked fans for supporting her and told them she would give them an opportunity to ask questions about her time on BDSY and answer them live. Ashley went on to say, “ I’m sorry for anyone who was looking forward to it, however I hope you will respect my decision .”

Ashley Marti will not be taking part in the Sailing Yacht reunion from belowdeck

BDSY fans slammed Ashley for blaming editing on how she was portrayed on the show. Lunahighwind responded to the above Reddit post, writing, “ People always use the bravo editing excuse, you can’t edit fact lol the whole cast backed up what happened .” Reach-Ordinary  also wrote, “ I agree with you too. No one gets a ‘good’ edit and claims that they didn’t behave that way, it was down to production and the edit. Always a convenient excuse .” Some also pointed out that BDSY engineer Colin MacRae and deckhand Kelsey Goglia are great examples of cast members who weren’t edited by production to be shown in a bad light.

With Ashley skipping out on the BDSY reunion and blaming Bravo for making her look bad, it seems the stew is not planning on returning to the Bravo series anytime soon. During the reunion, Captain Glenn Shephard mentioned that he would not work with Ashley again, and it seems as though her other cast members are fed up with her as well. Daisy expressed frustration at Ashley’s absence and vented that they all took time out of their busy lives to film the reunion. Many viewers would have liked Ashley to explain her side of the story and take accountability for her actions, but it looks like the stew is done with Below Deck Sailing Yacht  for good.

Why Below Deck Needs Sous Chefs

By Amy DeVore

Chef Rachel Hargrove

Trouble in the galley is a common storyline on Below Deck . Other people’s stressors are fun to watch, because it isn’t us dealing with the drama. So yeah, we get it, but also, we’re kinda over it. Watching talented chefs struggle, while the charter guests sit there and complain, isn’t fun.

So what’s the solution? Well, if the yacht is large enough, an extra hired hand could certainly help. Typically speaking, yachts that are featured on the show are 50-meters or less in size. This footage usually does not allow for a sous chef onboard.

However, Motor Yacht St David far surpassed this size, coming in at a whopping 60-meters. This stunner’s featured on Below Deck Mediterranean Seasons 10 and 11. According to Yacht Charter Fleet , the St. David is capable of carrying up to 14 crew members onboard. We need more yachts of this size, for so many reasons.

To start, the majority of BD ’s viewers will never charter a luxury yacht. I hate this for us. Yet, this Bravo series has given us an opportunity to lurk on how the wealthy vacation. We love peeping big, fancy things, so let’s give these yachties a few more meters to clean and launder, we demand, as the crumbs from our viewing snacks mount on our couches.

Most importantly, the bigger the yacht, the bigger the crew, which would allow for our desired sous chef onboard. Seriously, Below Deck should consider upping their yacht sizes, and in doing so, add on a Sous Chef position. Here’s why.

Timing on Charters Is Important

Even the most skilled Below Deck chefs have hit roadblocks. These culinary artists have to prepare multiple meals and snacks each day for their paying guests. They also have to feed their entire crew. This is a massive responsibility.

Below Deck Season 11 had Chef Anthony Iracane . His talent is clear. On his website , he states that he’s “owned an upscale restaurant in France for 5 years. Prior to this, I was trained in a french culinary school. Aside from chartering, I recently opened a french street food company ‘Snackybae™️’ catering to events and locales across south Florida.”

As you can see, Chef Anthony deserves this role, and yet, he’s struggling . His dishes are taking forever to come out of the galley. This is leaving his guests frustrated. Equally frustrated is his crew, who are getting far less than what they need to sustain them as they work.

As the timing and the feeding of the crews are equally important, Chef Anthony likely would have been so much better off had he had help. The same goes for any of the other great BD chefs, who have all pretty much faced these same obstacles. A Sous Chef could focus on the crews meals, in addition to the prepping of the guest’s dishes, which would allow the head chef all of the time needed to crank out their main plates.

With Sous Chefs, Chefs Can Better Cater To Every Ask

View this post on Instagram A post shared by @belowdeckmemes

Sometimes, the guests have laughable asks , such as a 2am plate of nachos. No shade thrown here, because we’d also want this, as long as it wasn’t made by Chef Mila Kolomeitseva . Other times though, the guests have come onboard with very specific dietary needs. The chefs then have to accommodate for each of these detailed requirements, no matter how many ingredients this sees being eliminated from their toolboxes.

Remember that preference sheet meeting in Season 10, where Chef Rachel Hargrove felt overwhelmed? To recap, the primary had gone overboard with his asks. His requests included a big breakfast, rainbow and unicorn floats, seafood, steaks, American fine dining, authentic New Orleans cuisine, Spanish not Mexican food, and a 10-course dinner. It was a lot.

“Eat my cooter. You pay the $16,000 a month for me to be your private chef in Monaco, then we’ll talk. Until then, I don’t play that game. I’d like the flight home, and I’ll start packing now,” Rachel said , pointing to the “ostentatious bullshit” that this guest wanted from just one chef.

As the wellness industry is thriving, new dietary trends will continue to form. Likewise, specific medical needs will always exist, as will the over-the-top requests that are made 24/7. Therefore, these chefs will always have a lot of asks to plan for with each of their charters. With a Sous Chef around, they could better cater to every request made.

Sous Chefs Mean Less Stress for the Crew

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck (@belowdeckbravo)

At times, many chefs have received help from their Captains , deckhands, and their stews. These crew members have all poured into the galleys, helping the chefs prep for their meal services. However, this takes a toll on the boat, as these yachties are pulled away from their own hired positions. At times, this has created even larger problems onboard.

As the guests experiences dictate what kind of tip they leave, zero aspects should be lacking. If someone’s pulled away to help meal prep, that’s one less crew member to tend to their needs. It also means this person’s main responsibilities would have to be covered by their team. If a Sous Chef came onboard, it would help to cut down on these extra stressors seen.

One More Yachtie Onboard Could Heighten Storylines

The Below Deck franchise has seen so many wild storylines . There have been many shocking firings , hook-ups, and even serious injuries onboard. You know what could heighten this? That’s right, one more crew member added to the chaos.

Even if this new hire came on in a dual-position role, where they also worked as a deckie or a stew, that’d be ok. Overall, their time spent helping the chef excel, while dabbling a toe (or ten) into the drama onboard, would be well worth this additional paycheck cut by Bravo.

"She’s a huge Bravo fan, and she reached out to me via Instagram, and was massively supportive," Daisy shared in an interview with the  Daily Mail on February 19. She said, 'Hey Daisy,' and we FaceTime and stuff. She's just so nice."

The chief stew also noted she hoped to "meet up" with Christina some day. Daisy didn't post any photos from her L.A. trip with Christina, but we wonder if they did indeed meet up during Daisy's trip.

"She's busy with her family and I know she is taking it easy, and keeping all of her energy for her [Multiple Scelorsis], but hopefully we’ll make time," Daisy concluded to the outlet.

More details from Daisy Kelliher's vacation in Los Angeles

Earlier in January, we caught up with Daisy when she visited out west. For the occasion, took to her Instagram Stories to share a view of herself taking in the beautiful sunset by the beach.

In addition to her sunset pic, Daisy also shared a snap of herself soaking up the sun on the gorgeous California beach.
