Her deck is a vast expanse of teak. With the anchor set the entire space becomes one enormous sun lounge and a hydraulic swim platform makes it easy to enjoy the yacht's generous selection of watertoys. The family-friendly central cockpit, which is entirely free of lines, has more than enough space for you and your fellow guests to relax, dine, enjoy sundowners and while away tropical evenings. Under way, a sprayhood keeps you dry and comfortable while keeping you at the heart of the sailing action.

Down below she has a contemporary, clean-lined, spacious and bright interior with plenty of natural light through hatches and windows. Guest areas include formal dining for eight guests, a lounge area and a media snug for movie nights. Her four cabins include a master suite with a full-beam bathroom complete with bath, a spacious VIP cabin with a bathroom complete with bath and two twin cabins, each with a shower room en suite.

SW110 Thalima

Built in 2010, SW110 Thalima is Southern Wind flagship. This yacht is the perfect blend of a high-performance and nimble yacht, fun to steer, aesthetically linear and a bluewater yacht to sail around the world in safety and comfort.

This elegant 110-footer represents the achievement of the fine-tuned and well-established team work between Southern Wind and Nauta Design, responsible for the general concept, exterior and interior design and Farr Yacht Design for the naval architecture, sail plan and appendages.

• The interior layout features a clear separation between the crew and guest areas for mutual privacy and relaxation
• The social heart of Thalima is the full beam saloon: ample, well-lit and perfectly equipped to make the owners and his guests feel comfortable and at home.
• The lounge area lays slightly below the saloon and is served by an Apple TV Entertainment .
• The owner’s cabin forward, is served by a study area, a walk-in wardrobe and a head that includes a shower stall with led light therapy as well as a bathtub.
• The Guests area features three generous cabins. The twins with separate berths are aft located, while the VIP is amidships.
• The ample VIP cabin is equipped with a king size bed open on both sides and a spacious bathroom with carbon-fibre sinks and a led light therapy shower.
• The crew area aft includes three cabins and a spacious galley; it is served by a dedicated companionway to the maneuvering cockpit to ensure the privacy of owners and their guests.
• An extremely spacious galley is designed and equipped to provide professional cuisine and to preserve and store food for long blue water navigations.

The Southern Wind Shipyards sailing yacht THALIMA, is the first SW 110 RS launched on the 31st of January 2010 in Cape Town South Africa. THALIMA is a performance cruising yacht. She is the hull no°1, designed by Farr Yacht Design team and Nauta Design. In keeping with the Southern Wind and Farr Yacht Design tradition, she has a fantastic sailing performance along with good looks and functionality.

THALIMA Specifications

She features clean lines as well as provides warm and welcoming spaces in which to experience the open waters. The sleek interior boasts a traditional, open layout as seen before in other smaller sailing yachts coming out of the Southern Wind shipyard. The crew’s quarters, as well as both twin guest cabins and the galley, are all located in the stern area of the boat while mid-ship you will find the saloon with a dining area as well as a VIP cabin and the owner’s cabin. The owner’s cabin features a private study, a bathroom, and also a roomy walk-in wardrobe.

In the saloon, there is ample seating for guests port-side of the yacht with the dining area located starboard. Walking down the ship’s stairs you will see another seating area that is fitted with a large screen television to enjoy.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

THALIMA provides accommodation for up to 10 charter guests in one Master cabin with a king-size bed and a full beam bathroom (with bath, bidet) with led light therapy. The VIP cabin has a king-size bed and a spacious bathroom with carbon-fibre sinks and also with led light therapy. The two Twin bed cabins are both with en-suite bathroom and additional Pullman berth each.

Thalima is a custom sailing yacht launched in 2010 by Southern Wind Shipyard in Cape Town, South Africa.

Southern Wind Shipyard was founded in 1991 by the Italian entrepreneur Willy Persico, the current Managing Director. The headquarter where yachts are produced is in Cape Town, South Africa, in the industrial zone, a few kilometres from the International Airport and it spreads over a 17.000 sqm area, of which 12.000 sqm under roof.

Thalima measures 33.60 metres in length, with a max draft of 4.20 metres and a beam of 7.30 metres.

Thalima has a GRP hull with a GRP superstructure.

Born in 1985 and acting initially as a yard, Nauta Yachts presented a style and an idea to the market which proved instantly successful, as they designed and built semi-custom sailing yachts, both innovative and soberly elegant. They produced sailing yachts which were both innovative at that time and featuring timeless beauty, such as the Nauta 54’, 70’ and 65’ semi-custom series.

Thalima also features naval architecture by Farr Yacht Design.

With interiors by Nauta Yachts, she features clean lines throughout and bright, contemporary living spaces, blending relaxing areas with high performance.

DESTINATIONS

THALIMA has her base port in Barcelona and she is available for charter in the West Mediterranean. Corsica and Sardinia are considered the jewels of the Mediterranean. Crystal waters, rocky or sandy beaches, small inlets for diving, unspoiled charm and simplicity, picturesque marinas and spectacular traditional colour. Combination of rich culture, beautiful islands with charming small towns built in almost unreachable bays or coves barely touched by man's influence while elsewhere seaside forts and clifftop castles hoard magnificent galleries, boutiques, museums and restaurants within. 

ACCOMMODATION & DECK AREAS

THALIMA ´s layout can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 elegant staterooms, including a Master Suite, one VIP stateroom and two Twin with Pullman beds. The Master Suite features a study area, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom with LED light therapy and bathtub. The guest areas feature three generous staterooms. Two twin staterooms, each with separate individual berths, are located aft of the saloon on either side while the VIP stateroom lies forward, on the port side and features a king-size walk-around bed and LED light therapy in the shower. The galley is designed and equipped to satisfy the most discerning professional chefs and offers significant storage for extended navigation away from harbours. 

THALIMA ´s interior layout features a clear separation between the crew and guest areas for mutual privacy and relaxation. The social heart of  THALIMA  is the full-beam salon: ample, well-lit and perfectly equipped to make her guests feel like home. A lounge area lays slightly below the salon giving the impression of a big open space; it is served by an Apple TV Entertainment. Her interior styling, typical of Nauta Design’s flair for innovative solutions, provides clean lines and luminous spaces that are also warm and welcoming. The deck plan has been designed for easy sailing and comfort both for crew and guests. On the outdoor, the alfresco dining area with bimini features two extendable teak-finished tables with plenty of seating and opens up into an ample sunbathing area that creates a comfortable lounging space. THALIMA  has also been designed for high sailing performance, combining relaxing cruising with exciting sailing.

World Superyacht Awards Finalist 2011, and capable of global circumnavigation with a 2,000 NM range, with such a pedigree this would be a charter to remember. Her extensive teak deck provides ample space for relaxing while underway, with cruising speeds of up to 10 knots.

SWS sailing yacht Thalima sold

The 33.6 metre SWS sailing yacht Thalima , listed for sale by Southern Wind, has been sold with the buyer introduced by Burgess .

Built at South Africa’s Southern Wind Shipyard in composite to a design by Farr Yacht Design and an interior by Nauta Design , she was delivered in 2010 and is Germanischer Lloyd classed. The first of this yard’s 110’ designs, Thalima is a nimble yacht with easy handling, a true racing competitor and global bluewater cruiser. Like numerous other Southern Wind yachts, she was designed for circumnavigating the globe without compromising on performance.

MCA compliant, accommodation is for eight guests in four generous cabins consisting of a master suite, VIP suite and two twins, each with a Pullman berth and all cabins have en suite shower facilities. In addition, there are quarters for five crew. The large deck offers a double cockpit for al fresco entertaining and dining and has ample sunbathing areas.

The interior styling is typical of Nauta Design’s flair for innovative solutions that provide clean lines and luminous spaces that are also warm and welcoming. In the split-level saloon there is a conversation area to port with comfortable seating and a dining area to starboard for formal meals seating 10 guests. An extension of the saloon forward houses a television screen and entertainment centre, and a U-shaped settee. 

Under power, a 450hp Cummins engine gives her a range of 2,000 nautical miles.

Thalima was asking €5,900,000.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More
