Guest Accommodation

Families will particularly love Ocean Pearl thanks to her child-friendly setup. Built in 2010, She offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests with a layout comprising a master suite, two double cabins and two twin cabins. The bed configuration includes 3 king, 4 singles and 2 pullmans. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 2,764 nautical miles from her 26,000 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed. Ocean Pearl features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels.

EXTERIOR The exterior profile of OCEAN PEARL really makes her stand out from the crowd with futuristic looking superstructure which arches in a continuous curve from bow to stern. The stern section of the superstructure hugs twin staircases which run smoothly from the sun deck, alongside the upper deck and down to the main deck. Cathedral steps at the stern create a dramatic finale down to the swim platform – the steps are echoed at the bow.

OCEAN PEARL Specifications

The sun deck offers a semi-circular sofa built into the superstructure and a row of cushioned sun pads. The upper deck aft is dedicated to al fresco dining with a large table and chairs while the main deck aft is furnished with a comfortable lounge sofa and chairs.

INTERIOR Once inside guests will be delighted to find a contemporary look and feel with a neutral colour palette punctuated with bright soft furnishings – from the pen of Foster + Partners. On the upper deck there is a relaxed bar and lounge perfect for pre-dinner drinks. A spiral staircase leads down to the main salon where huge floor to ceiling windows and doors allow light to flood in. After dark there is a cool lighting arrangement on the ceiling which is continued in the upper salon. The main salon offers a flexible lounge with multiple sofas and occasional chairs and a formal dining setting.

Five ensuite staterooms are light and bright and offer private sanctuaries for up to 12 guests. The owner’s suite is forward on the main deck and there are two doubles and two twins on the lower deck with 2 additional pullman bunks, ideal for children.

The 115’ (35.05m) Christensen OCEAN PEARL is now asking $2,800,000 after a $100,000 price reduction. The luxury motor yacht is listed for sale with Yacht Broker Graham Rutherford.

OCEAN PEARL is an award-winning long-range luxury motor yacht perfect for extended cruising. She’s a beautiful vessel with classic Christensen lines. She’s comfortable and spacious thanks to her wide beam.

In 2023, she underwent a major shipyard maintenance period where her port engine was fully rebuilt. She is now considered to be in better condition than when she was first launched.

Warm mahogany and large windows frame her main salon and dining area, with plush seating and large television. Her formal dining can seat up to ten and features a fully equipped wet bar. To port is a large galley, also fully equipped, with large windows and an L-shaped settee dining area and large windows.

Her accommodations are located below deck and can house up to 11 guests. Midships is a king-sized master stateroom with a cedar-lined closet. An adjacent cabin can be opened to create a full-beam suite. To port is a queen-size guest stateroom with an additional Pullman berth. A children’s stateroom can sleep up to four people with twin bunks and two Pullmans. All cabins are ensuite and are beautifully appointed. She can also house up to six crew with three cabins, including a captain’s quarters.

OCEAN PEARL’s exterior decks offer ample space and amenities for entertainment and relaxation. The cockpit provides a protected area for various activities, with convenient storage lockers and easy access to the steering gear. The flybridge boasts comfortable seating areas, a hot tub, and a fully equipped bar, while the foredeck features a spacious sunpad and cushioned bow seat, creating a comfortable gathering spot.

Welcome to the home page of the Ocean Pearl

INTRODUCTION:

The motor yacht (m/y) Ocean Pearl is owned and operated by  Martina and Braun Jones. She is a small boat of the ‘Adventure’ or ‘Expedition’ yacht class, designed  for worldwide cruising. She was built by PAE Yacht Builders (Nordhavn) and is a model N64. She has replaced our previous boat a Nordhavn 62, named Grey Pearl which in 2011 was tragically destroyed by fire in Phuket, Thailand. This tragedy temporarly interrupted our leisurely circumnavigation of the world, which began 16 years ago.

HISTORY OF VOYAGES – 2000 to present

Here is a recap  of how far we are  along the way of our very leisurely circumnavigation.  From 2000 – 2011 these voyages were made on the good ship Grey Pearl. From 2012 to the present, on her replacement the Ocean Pearl. 

Beginning in 2000 we sailed  the Grey Pearl from the Canadian Maritimes south along the East Coast of the USA, deep into the Bahamas, and departing from Ft. Lauderdale across the Atlantic, via Bermuda and the Azores, with three years spent exploring the Mediterranean, including the far eastern portion and the countries of Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt. In 2008 after returning from the Mediterranean to the USA,  we departed from Annapolis, Maryland, bore south along Central America, transited the Panama Canal and made for Seattle. That summer was spent cruising throughout British Columbia and the winter of 2009 she berthed in Seattle.

In the spring of 2009, she set sail on the Great Siberian Sushi Run (GSSR) – a  transpacific voyage from Seattle to British Columbia to Alaska (Bering Sea) to the Aleutians to Russia and ending August 2009 in Osaka, Japan. The winter of 2009/10 was spent in Osaka and in April 2010 the Pearl set sail for Japan’s Inland Sea, the Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa, Taiwan, and eventually reached Hong Kong where she  berthed for the winter 2010/11. In the spring of 2011 the Pearl sailed from Hong Kong across the South China Sea and leisurely through the Philippines. She eventually reached Kota Kinabalu Borneo, Malaysia. 

In October and November, 2011 she sailed from Kota Kinabalu to Singapore and on through the Malacca Strait to Phuket, Thailand where she intended to spend the winter of 2012.  A tragic fire of unknown origin completely destroyed the Grey Pearl in December 2011. Future plans were to cross the Indian Ocean and then north through the Red Sea to the Mediterranean. However the piracy situation in the Gulf of Aden and adjacent waters was being closely monitored and plans might have been adjusted accordingly. 

 So, all the best laid plans of mice and men… we were concerned about piracy and never expected that losing our Grey Pearl to fire would  so dramatically alter our our thoughts and capabilities. A  fresh start it is and let’s get on with it!

In June of 2012 we purchased a Nordhavn 64 and named her Ocean Pearl. We resumed our travels with the intention of  learning about our new boat and preparing Ocean Pearl for international  ocean voyaging. We took  shakedown cruises to New England in the summer of 2012, to Florida and the Bahamas in the winter of 2013, and returned to the Chesapeake Bay in the spring of 2013.  Along the way we completed numerous refitting tasks designed to ready the boat to cross oceans. 

Finally prepared,  in June of 2013 we departed  Solomons Island, Maryland, bound for Ireland via the Canadian Maritimes. We went north and east to St. Johns, Newfoundland.  In  July 2013, we departed St. John’s  and crossed the North Atlantic  to Crookhaven, Ireland, where we landed later that month.

The rest of the summer  2013 was spent cruising the coasts of Ireland, Scotland, and England and after rounding Lands End eventually sailing up the Thames to London.  Ocean Pearl rested in London until the spring of 2014, when she headed south and east. In May of 2014 we set sail from London, crossed the English Channel, and bore along the coasts of France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and transited the Kiel Canal. Then into the Baltic Sea to visit Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. Finally returning to Southampton, England to spend the winter of 2014/15 on the hard. 

In England, We splashed Ocean Pearl in May of 2015. We left  Southhampton for Normandy, Brittany, Atlantic France, Atlantic Spain, Portugal, and to Gibraltar. Then along the Costa Del Sol, and Costa Blanca with arrival at Palma in the Baleares mid-September, 2015. We rendezvoused with the other participants in the Great Siberian Sushi Run, yachts Sans Souci and Seabird.

in the fall of 2016 we shipped the Pearl from Palma to Fajardo, Puerto Rico. From there she was sailed by our friends to Key Largo, Fla. in the summer of 2017 we will sail her to Maine and then return to Key Largo.

Discover the route to the Ionian Sea

Sailing in the Ionian Sea will give you the chance to discover the western side of Greece, with the popular Ionian islands which are very popular for their green landscape and picturesque beaches with crystal blue waters.

Depending on the base of departure, you will have the chance to sail around Corfu, Lefkas, Ithaka, Zante or Kefallonia on a one-week sailing trip. If you sail from Kefallonia or Lefkas, make sure you plan to visit the beautiful bays in Atokos, Kalamos and Kastos, Porto Katsiki with its wonderful blue waters as well as popular Fiscardo on the northern part of Kefallonia and Kioni in Ithaka. Also, you have the option to travel south and discover Zante and its beautiful beaches, with the most famous one being Navagio. .

If you sail from Corfu, Paxi –Antipaxi and Parga will amaze you with their gorgeous bays, before you head south to explore Lefkas. On a two-week trip you will have the chance to sail around all the Ionian islands.

BAREBOAT OPTION

Bareboat sailing or independent yacht charter is about hiring of a boat without the assistance of a skipper or other crew. It is the most popular choice for families or groups of friends for those who have experience and are qualified with a sailing certificate. Sailing independently means you can plan your own route and enjoy small bays and harbors inaccessible to large tourist boats or crews sailing as part of a flotilla. However, you will need to be suitably skilled and experienced to handle the size and type of yacht selected to ensure you have the best trip possible!

We will help you plan the best route for your holidays by proposing special bays and harbors to visit.

SKIPPERED OPTION

If you don’t have the necessary experience or sailing certificate, but still want to explore the Ionian islands with your own pace and preferences, then a skippered option is best for you. Our friendly skipper will encourage you to take an active part in your holiday if you desire to do so or you can simply relax and be sailed around!  You, your friends and family can get involved as much or as little as you like - it is a great activity holiday for all the family. Our skipper will have the responsibility for the boat and you will have the outmost enjoyment of a sailing trip.

If you don't have the time to rent a yacht for a week but still want to visit some of those incredible island beaches that are only accessible by boat, then our one day option is the perfect solution! You can book the boat for one-day trips around the area or a couple of days to enjoy the surrounding beaches or a quick visit to a nearby island.

Celebrating special events in a sailing boat with you loved ones makes it even more special.  If you are looking for a romantic getaway or a day at sea celebrating a special event, birthday party, honeymoon cruise or wedding anniversary, we can make it all true for you.
