The BLEU DE NIMES yacht is a former French naval vessel turned into a luxury yacht with a world-reaching range.

She was built by CLELANDS SHIPBUILDING CO in 1980 and served in the British Navy until 1997.

She was reintroduced to the public in 2005 under the name BLUE DE NIMES. Due to the extensive nature of the renovation, Lloyd’s categorized her as a new build once it was completed since the only part of the original ship that has remained is its sturdy hull.

The majestic has all the bells and whistles necessary for off-the-beaten-path travel. She has been built to provide an exquisite blend of luxury and sociable areas that are intended to make you feel at home from the minute you step aboard.

With all the major rebuilds she went through, it’s never been a momentary passion project, but you can say that it is a 20-year love affair with her owner.

Her interior design was penned by Pier Vittorio Cerruti Yachts, who maintained the yacht’s wonderful aesthetic and colonial appeal. 

She features plentiful American cherry joinery and iroko wood floors complemented by black-veined marble.

Additionally, the new interiors still adhered to the traditional style and the result is an interior clad in wooden panels and floors, complemented by cream furnishings for a “calming, colonial-style feel”.

Her interior was also expanded during the rebuild and now measures 1,637GT. 

BLEU DE NIMES Yacht exterior

The exterior of the megayacht is the work of PENTANED LTD, STUDIO NATTERO. During the renovation, the classic lines and ocean-liner external design of BLEU DE NIMES were maintained.

Despite the challenging additional extension, Studio Nattero was able to keep the explorer yacht’s traditional lines and its signature ocean liner aesthetic.

While the two distinguishable stacks have been preserved in their entirety, the communication systems have been relocated to a central mast structure.

Indeed, BLEU DE NÎMES is a stunning representation of a traditional naval vessel that has been exquisitely transformed into a state-of-the-art ocean cruiser via extensive renovations.

She was originally constructed as a degaussing ship for the British Navy, but now she serves as a reinvented megayacht of historic distinction.

Inside, the focus is on the refined elegance of her 13 traditional suites, which include a full-beam master suite that is furnished with both his and her private bathrooms and a private study.

She can comfortably accommodate 28 guests and 23 crew members for an exceptional yachting experience. 

The remaining guest accommodations consist of two VIP suites located on the main deck, as well as six double cabins, two triple cabins, and two twin cabins located on the lower deck. 

The substantial renovation has resulted in the addition of high-end amenities that are unrivaled in their class.

She is equipped with an elevator between six decks, a large sundeck, two jacuzzis, a sauna, a massage room, and a gym on the bridge deck. 

Equipped with a selection of water toys such as jet skis, canoes, windsurfers, sailboats, paddle boards, and diving equipment, guests can turn the Mediterranean into their own private playground.

Additionally, she has a capacity of 270,000 liters for fuel and 24,000 liters for water at any given time.

The 72.25m Clelands Shipping Co-built passenger yacht BLEU DE NIMES is offered for sale following an extensive rebuild. If you’re looking for a charter yacht with the heart of an explorer, true ocean-going credentials and amazing onboard luxuries, look no further than the 237' (72.24m) BLEU DE NIMES. This former British Navy Degaussing ship was originally launched by Clelands Shipbuilding Company in 1980 and formerly known as LODESTONE serving the Royal Navy until her decommissioning in 1997. Now, having completed a four-year rebuild in 2020, BLEU DE NIMES has finally realized a 20-year ambition to transform from a military vessel to one of the most luxurious, long-range charter cruisers on offer. Such was the extent of her conversion, a passion project for her dedicated owner, who enlisted Studio Nattero to oversee the naval architecture, Lloyds classified her as a new build once the process was complete. The results speak for themselves. While BLEU DE NIMES retains many of the outstanding features of her naval past, she also offers all of the exceptional amenities and opulence you would expect on a fabulous charter yacht. With room on board for 28 guests, BLEU DE NIMES is an ideal choice for off-the-beaten path adventures or celebrations in remote climes with family or friends.

The interiors on BLEU DE NIMES are perfectly in keeping with her classic lines and traditional ocean-liner style thanks to interior designer Pier Vittorio Cerruti. Seen as a trusted pair of hands, having designed many of the BLEU DE NIMES owner’s homes, Cerruti has made lavish use of American cherry wood in the paneling and cabinetry and iroko wood floors complemented by black-veined marble. Rattan furnishings and antiques—including valuable Chinese vases—help to create a warm colonial feel that would not be out of place in the most well-heeled stately home. The main salon features plush cream sofas in a conversational arrangement around a large timber coffee table. It’s a social space for cocktails and canapes before dinner at the formal dining table. The main salon is complemented by two smaller, cozier salons further forward for guests to have time and space for themselves for reading or card games. There is also a dedicated onboard cinema for family movie nights or to keep younger guests entertained.

The upper deck salon is a lovely space for entertaining with four indoor dining tables and a further four positioned just outside on the connecting deck. Together they provide seating for 36 guests—ideal for dining as a group and special in port celebrations.

Decks on BLEU DE NIMES are expansive, with beautifully designed spaces for relaxing, socializing, and dining or simply soaking up the sunshine and scenery of her cruising grounds. The main aft deck has enough space to seat everyone for morning coffee and pastries as you plan the day ahead. The upper aft deck is the place for sundowner cocktails or dancing under the stars, while the more intimate lounge aft on the bridge deck provides a quieter escape. There is also a gym, massage room and sauna to be enjoyed in the Wellness Center.

For uninterrupted bronzing and the best views on board, head to the sundeck where there are two massive side-by-side Jacuzzis so no one misses out on a relaxing soak, and a sit-up bar serving the perfect libation, whatever the occasion. A sea of sun loungers both forward and aft provide fabulous opportunities for tanning.

For ease of access, a lift rises six levels from the lower deck to the sundeck and there is also a grand staircase connecting floors.

BLEU DE NIMES is a great choice for families thanks to her child-friendly accommodations and 13 beautifully designed staterooms. Two triple cabins and two twin cabins on the lower deck are perfect for children sharing. There are a further six double cabins on this level, all with en-suite bathrooms and the same traditional interiors as BLEU DE NIMES’s common areas. They all have direct access to the beach club. The real show-stopper is the upper deck master suite with its emperor size bed, gorgeous joinery, separate office, walk-in dressing room and his and hers bathroom with a beautiful marble bathtub. Those opting for one of the two VIP staterooms on the main deck will not be disappointed either. Each one has an indulgent king-size bed, beautiful views, and a stunning en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and shower.

Equally at home in the Mediterranean or cruising the world’s best dive sites and remote islands of the Indian Ocean, BLEU DE NIMES has a true ocean-going pedigree and all of the toys and tenders to ensure guests maximize every moment. Scuba diving and snorkeling kits unlock the underwater wonders of far-flung reefs, while an array of towable toys, WaveRunners and Jet Skis provide a burst of adrenaline for speedsters. Kayaks, windsurfers, and a Laser sailboat allow for gentler exploration. There’s also a swimming platform large enough for sun loungers for a real sense of on-the-water serenity. The 33.10' custom offshore tender, launched from the fold-down port side sea terrace, makes it easy to explore tucked-away coves and hidden stretches of sand thanks to its beach landing setup. There is also a touch-and-go helipad for guests to arrive in style or take their adventures to the sky.

But perhaps the real stand-out feature on BLEU DE NIMES is her incredible crew of 23 headed by female skipper Mascia Poma who provide intuitive service and all of the personalized touches that make a charter vacation incredibly special.

A 72m motor yacht with exceptional long-range cruising abilities and a distinguished military background, BLEU DE NÎMES is no ordinary explorer yacht. Formerly a British Royal Navy degaussing vessel, she underwent a major conversion in 2000 when she was transformed from a navy vessel into a spacious family yacht.

Carried out in Turkey and overseen by her experienced Owner, this first rebuild was classified as a new construction by Lloyds and saw the creation of a brand new superstructure for BLEU DE NÎMES with yacht designer Peter Birkett keeping only the steel hull from the original vessel. BLEU DE NÎMES’ initial conversion was then followed by a second rebuild carried out in Italy from 2016 to 2020. Overseen by Studio Nattero, during her second rebuild BLEU DE NÎMES was extended by 16 metres with the addition of four new guest cabins, two tender garages, a central stairway and a super yacht lift. This second conversion took BLEU DE NÎMES from a family yacht to an ultra-luxurious explorer yacht with a stylish Pier Vittorio Cerruti interior and accommodation for up to 28 guests across her 13 staterooms. Guest accommodation onboard includes a stunning full-beam Owner’s suite with a private study plus his & hers dressing rooms and ensuite bathrooms, two VIP cabins, six double cabins, two triple cabins and two twin cabins each with an additional Pullman berth. BLEU DE NÎMES also has two staff cabins plus accommodation for her 23-person crew on the lower decks.

The lower deck swim platform offers plenty of space to access the tender or to unwind on sun loungers close to the water's edge. The mid-section of the port side hull has a fold-down platform, providing an additional sea terrace and a place to launch the two tenders on board.

The main deck aft is an extensive outdoor area shaded by the overhang of the upper deck. In contrast, the upper deck, bridge deck and observation deck are exposed to the elements, and all provide uninterrupted views of the surroundings.

72m superyacht ‘Bleu De Nimes’ joins yacht charter fleet after huge four year refit

Following a four-year refit 72m (236’) luxury yacht ‘Bleu De Nimes ’ has undergone a drastic transformation and is now ready to host her first yacht charters in the Indian Ocean this winter.

The 1980 Clelands Shipping Company built motor yacht , has emerged a much different yacht to that which went into Studio Nattero’s Genoa facilities in 2016 at the start of the ambitious project.

The most notable change being a huge increase in size from 55m (180’) to 72m (236’), a result of the vessel being cut in half and an entire new amidships section built and added along with a new transom segment.

As equally as impressive is an increase in the yacht’s accommodation capabilities, with four additional cabins being added to take the total to 13. This means 'Bleu De Nimes' can now house 28 guests, more than double the amount previously.

This makes her the perfect yacht charter if you want to escape in complete luxury with a large group of family and friends and enjoy the exquisite white sands and palm tree laden beaches of the Seychelles or explore the kaleidoscopic coral reefs and the idyllic islands of the Maldives this winter.

Despite the huge overhaul the classic lines and characteristics ocean liner style have been retained, with 'Bleu De Nimes' combining a traditional design with sumptuous facilities.

The additional space has been exceptionally well used with Pier Vittorio Cerruti responsible for the design of the elegant interior, which has a calming colonial style feel.

Dominated by warm, wooden tones the social areas are arranged to offer the best opportunity for spending time with friends and family. Large soft sofas are arranged around sleek wooden tables, giving ample opportunity for catching up over a refreshment or two.

The elegant look carries over to the formal dining area, which retains a feel of a vintage hotel, with ornate artwork and sculptures and wooden detailing giving a classic feel throughout. Huge sliding doors open up onto the outside deck, bringing in swathes of light and fresh sea breeze.

A full-beam Master Suite dominates the upper deck forward, with an emperor size bed and his and her bathrooms. Elsewhere two VIP cabins can be found on the main deck, and six double cabins, two triple cabins and two twin cabins on the lower deck. There is also space for 23 crew on board to ensure every need is taken care of for you and your guests.

With wall-to-wall sun and blue skies on offer on an Indian Ocean yacht charter, you will undoubtedly be looking to spend a lot of your time outside, and 'Bleu De Nimes' delivers on this front.

The elegant look carries over to the formal dining area, which retains a feel of a vintage hotel, with ornate artwork and sculptures and wooden detailing giving a classic feel throughout.

A shaded lounge and dining area on the large main deck aft, are perfect for retreating to when the rays of the sun might be that bit too strong. The large sun deck includes two large Jacuzzis side-by-side, a bar and enough sun loungers for everyone.

The large open space is dominated by cream furnishings and elegant rattan furniture and offers wonderful views of the treasure troves of islands that are dotted throughout the Indian Ocean.

For further relaxation a sauna and massage room can be found on the bridge deck, and for the more energetic a fully equipped gym is located there too.

Bleu De Nimes also has four tenders, an extensive list of water toys including canoes and diving equipment, and a swim platform that can accommodate a couple of sun loungers.

A historic past

'Bleu De Nimes' was launched in 1980 as LODESTONE for the Royal Marine Auxiliary Services. After she was decommissioned in 1996, she entered into private ownership and began cruising across the world extensively.

The current owner first approached Genoa-based Mario Nattero Naval Engineering Studio in 2014 about an exhaustive overhaul, which eventually began in 2016.

Other improvements have seen a new tender garage to house two of the yacht’s four tenders that were previously stored on the open foredeck, a new forward fin to increase the yacht’s speed and efficiency and offer a more comfortable ride at sea, and the concealment of communications equipment within the central mast structure.

'Bleu De Nimes' first charter season will be spent in the glorious cruising grounds of the Indian Ocean, offering beautiful coastlines, exquisite sandy white beaches and a huge amount of fantastic dive spots.

This former British Royal Navy Degaussing ship has been fully converted into a luxury motor yacht with a world-reaching range. The 72.25 meters 1980 co-built motor yacht BLEU DE NÎMES is offered for sale following an extensive rebuild, which was completed in 2020. With naval architecture by Studio Nattero and interior design by Pier Vittorio Cerruti, BLEU DE NÎMES is a splendid example of a classic naval ship, which has been completely modernized into a beautiful ocean voyager. Formerly known as LODESTONE, BLEU DE NÎMES was originally built at the Cleland yard in England as a Degaussing ship and served in the British Navy until 1997. BLEU DE NÎMES’ transformation into a luxurious cruiser began in 2000 and her conversion was so extensive that Lloyd’s classified her as new construction. A four-year rebuild between 2016 and 2020 saw her extended by 16m to 72.25 meters. A 12meter section was added mid-ship as well as a 4 meter new transom. Four guest cabins, two tender garages, a central stairway plus an elevator serving all 6 decks were added in the new section. On the lower deck, ten guest cabins now have direct access to the beach club. Complying with the Passenger Yacht Code, BLEU DE NÎMES can accommodate an impressive 28 guests across 13 cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite on the upper deck forward with an emperor-size bed, his and her bathrooms as well as a walk-in dressing room, and a separate study. The rest of the guest accommodation comprises two VIP cabins on the main deck, and six double cabins, two triple cabins and two twin cabins on the lower deck. There is also room for 23 crew and an additional 4 staff on board. BLEU DE NÎMES’ impressive list of amenities now includes a cinema room on the main deck, a sauna, massage room and gym on the bridge deck, and two Jacuzzis, plus plenty of lounging areas on the sun deck. Two of the yacht’s four 9.30 meter tenders are now stowed in new garages on the lower deck, freeing up space on deck. She also features a touch-and-go helipad. A new forward fin keel not only adds to the yacht’s overall speed and efficiency but has also resulted in a more comfortable ride at sea. With a range of 20,000nm at 12 knots, BLEU DE NÎMES yacht is a true ocean voyager. ‘Bleu De Nimes’ is a 190.29ft  /58m  expedition yacht built in 1980 by Clelands Shipbuilding Co and last refitted in 2008. Previously named Lodestone, her interior design is by Pier Vittorio Cerruti and her exterior styling is by Penta NED.

Bleu De Nimes’s interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 9 rooms, including a master suite, 4 double cabins, 4 twin cabins and 3 pullman beds. She is also capable of carrying up to 20 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Each cabin is well appointed and offers the ideal place to rest after a long day of exploration.

You’ll find an array of leisure and entertainment facilities onboard, making her ideal for entertaining friends and family on your charter vacation. There’s lots of space for enjoying an alfresco lunch or dinner on deck, or simply lounging in the sunshine and working on your tan.

She has a cruising speed of 12 knots, a maximum speed of 16 knots and a range of 12,000nm from 45,000litre fuel tanks. Her combination of style and performance is particularly impressive, and you’ll have the ideal vantage point from which to explore. There’s even a touch ‘n’ go helipad, ideal if you wish to explore by air and sea.

"bleu de nîmes carries a lot of history – and guests.".

Bleu de Nîmes  was originally built at the Cleland yard in England as a Degaussing ship and served in the British Navy until 1997. Her transformation into a luxurious cruiser began in 2000, and her conversion was so extensive that Lloyd’s classified her as new construction. A four-year rebuild between 2016 and 2020 saw her extended by 16m to 72.25m.

Bleu de Nîmes  can accommodate an impressive 28 guests across 13 cabins, including a full-beam master suite on the upper deck forward with an emperor-size bed, his and her bathrooms, and his and her walk-in closets. The rest of the guest accommodation comprises two VIP cabins on the main deck and six double cabins, two triple cabins, and two twin cabins on the lower deck. There is also room for 23 crew on board, ensuring first-class service for you and your guests throughout your charter holiday.

Inside, the wooden panels and wooden floors, accentuated with cream furnishings, give a calming colonial-style feel, and guests will love the sauna, massage room, and gym on the bridge deck.  Bleu de Nîmes  offers a shaded lounge and dining area on the large main deck aft, while the large sun deck includes two large Jacuzzis side-by-side, so no one need miss out, a bar and plenty of sun loungers.

Aboard  Bleu de Nîmes , you can make use of no fewer than four tenders – two of which can be accessed from the fold-down sea terrace on the port side hull. To access the other tenders, plus the extensive list of water toys – including SeaDoos, canoes, a stand-up paddleboard and diving equipment – there is the swim platform, large enough to accommodate a couple of sun loungers for that real on-the-water sense of serenity.
