Guests are welcome to decorate the boats, as long as no damage is incurred with the decorations.

Yes, children are included in guest counts. Children below 13 year old are also required to wear life jackets on yachts.

What type of clothing should I wear on a yacht charter party?

Ideally guests should dress comfortably. Layers are advised as it can be windier and colder on the water than on land. Don´t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses.

What to wear to a boat party at night?

On an evening yacht charter party it is important to dress warmly. While the boats do have interiors that can keep deduce the wind factor an evening on the water can be chilly. So it is best to dress in warm layers.

Can I wear high heels to a party on a yacht?

High heels can be worn on some boats. On large party boats with 30+ guests it should be fine. It is not practical on the smaller boats as you will be walking around on different levels and materials and it can be dangerous. A better solution would be a pretty flat, a fancy sandal, or a short mule if you must.

What do I need to bring to a boat party?

For a boat party on a yacht it’s best to bring whatever will make you comfortable. Some guests like to bring an extra sweater, favorite snacks and drinks, sunscreen, sea sickness pills, and if it's a birthday party a gift for the host.

How soon in advance do I need to book a yacht for a party?

Our bookings are based on a first come first serve basis. To make sure your preferred date and time is available it's best to confirm the date and time as soon as possible.

How do I start a yacht party?

Gather everyone together and share a toast to get the party started. Then play the music and let everyone mingle around in the different corners of the boat. This will make a boat party come to life.

Am I expected to tip the captain and crew?

Gratuity is not included in the price and while not required it is always greatly appreciated. Any tips provided are split between the captain and crew.

Can I bring food and beverage aboard for a boat party?

Guests are welcome to bring food and beverage aboard.

Are refreshments included for a yacht party?

Refreshments are not included in the pricing. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink.

Is there a place we can go to swim during a yacht party?

We can offer swimming from our San Pedro & Long Beach departure locations.

What is a bareboat charter?

- A bareboat charter is a vessel that is leased by the owner to another person (a “charterer”) for a period of time without a captain or crew; - A bareboat charter is a vessel that is considered a recreational vessel and may not be subject to Passenger Vessel inspections by the United States Coast Guard; - Once the charterer takes possession of the vessel, the charterer becomes entirely responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel and its passengers; - The owner of the vessel is generally not responsible for any collision, personal injuries, and wages for the crew - The charterer is responsible for the vessel’s crew, fuel, insurance, any maintenance and repairs, and any liability associated with use and possession of the vessel; - The charterer must have the option of selecting and paying crew and may discharge the master or any crew member without referral to the owner; - The owner may require general levels of proficiency for the crew that is retained based on federal statutes; and - Charterers and passengers are solely responsible for making sure they understand and agree to the terms of any bareboat charter agreement.

Yacht Party: By Day or Night?

Having a yacht party is a great way to make your bash stand out from the rest. From the breathtaking views and first-class service to the simple fact that you’re aboard a yacht, there are many unique characteristics.

One of the stark differences from a typical event venue is that, once aboard, you’ll enjoy a beautiful cruise on the water–an exciting feature for our clients and their guests. Depending on the time of day, your celebration can bask in the famous Southern California sunshine or sparkle under the night stars. Yacht parties offer a lot of flexibility making them an ideal choice for almost any occasion.

This leads to a question we often hear from our clients: Should we hold our event during the day or at night?

While both have their advantages, there are a few questions to consider first.

How formal is it?

Evaluate the scope of your event. Do you envision cocktail dresses and sharp suits? Formal gowns and classic tuxedos? Then your event is best suited for the evening.

If you’re opting for a more casual feel with a bright, airy vibe then daytime is probably best.

A general rule of thumb is that formal events (e.g. weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, proms, corporate galas , etc.) are planned in the evening while lighter celebrations (e.g. family reunions, baby and bridal showers, engagement and graduation parties, etc.) occur during the day.

Who’s invited?

Scan your guest list and get a sense of the invitees.

Are they early birds? Night owls? Are their weekends filled with work shifts and kid’s soccer games? If you answered “yes,” then a night yacht party will most likely be preferred.

If the group is a little more flexible (i.e. not tied to a specific schedule) then a midday jaunt will probably work just fine.

What’s on the menu?

Decide what you plan to serve your guests. If you’re feeling a three-course sit down dinner complete with bread service and passed hors d’oeuvres, the evening is more appropriate.

Daytime events are a little more comfortable and often call for a more casual setting featuring a fantastic buffet or a gorgeous brunch spread. Either way, food is a MUST for any event and should be served accordingly.

Sunset, stars or sunny skies?

Many clients consider the gorgeous backdrop of the Marina del Rey harbor as an enhanced feature of their event. In this case, clients look forward to a spectacular sunset for amazing photos while others rely on the twinkling lights of the harbor and stars to add a romantic feel.

Our daytime clients really emphasize the sights on the water and enjoy the incomparable views of the Los Angeles coastline–from Catalina Island and the Palos Verdes peninsula all the way to Malibu. Daytime events are also fun for spotting wildlife and seeing other yachts in the harbor.

A nighttime yacht party will have  a different vibe. Depending on the nature of your celebration, dancing and socializing might be more like dancing at a nightclub. Alternatively, for smaller celebrations, the night sky is the perfect backdrop for a luxurious  and intimate experience.

Your choices depend on what your goal is. What do you want to experience with your guests?

Consider how you want your event to look. For example, enchancements like lighting will produce different looks depending on the time of day. Did you want to do special uplighting? A gobo on the dance floor or on the side of the yacht? If yes, then maybe an evening event is best.

If you have specific colors or a theme you want to feature, then consider whether or not a daylight or an evening yacht party will complement your color palette. Did you want to use glow sticks on the dance floor or have sparklers for your grand exit once the yacht docks? Or did you want to keep it simple with natural lighting? These are all questions that will help determine when to hold your event.

If a cancellation or rescheduling due to bad weather is necessary, either the Renter or the Boat Owner must send an email to [email protected] stating the reason. Under California law, housing providers cannot refuse to rent to people based on their use of housing assistance programs

SACRAMENTO  – During National Fair Housing Month, the California Civil Rights Department (CRD) today announced reaching a $35,000 settlement ending a Novato apartment complex’s alleged blanket ban on renting to people using Section 8 housing vouchers. Under California law, landlords and housing providers cannot refuse to rent to people based on their use of housing assistance programs, such as Section 8. In addition to monetary compensation, the settlement requires the property owner and management staff to take proactive steps to prevent future discrimination, including through training, policy changes, and requirements to post apartment vacancies on forums that serve individuals receiving housing assistance.

“Rental assistance programs can’t help with housing insecurity if landlords won’t accept applicants who use them,” said Civil Rights Department Director Kevin Kish. “It is unlawful to reject renters simply for relying on Section 8. Whether it’s Fair Housing Month or any time of the year, our office is always working to protect the rights of our state’s residents. This settlement is just one more clear example of what we can achieve when we work together to identify and combat discrimination.”

In 2023, CRD received a complaint from Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California alleging that a Novato apartment complex had an unlawful policy of refusing to rent to individuals using housing assistance programs. The complaint was the result of testing by Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California that identified multiple instances over a period of nearly two years of discriminatory practices. Specifically, the apartment complex’s management allegedly indicated to fair housing testers who posed as prospective tenants that it would not rent to people using Section 8. Under state and federal law, nonprofit fair housing organizations may be authorized to carry out fair housing testing — including by posing as an individual in need of housing — to help identify and eliminate discriminatory practices. Pursuant to its statutory authority, CRD investigated the complaint and ultimately helped the parties reach a resolution through mediation. Over the last three years, CRD has secured nearly 150 settlements related to source of income discrimination in housing on behalf of impacted Californians.

As part of the settlement, the apartment complex’s owner and property management have agreed to take a range of corrective actions, including to:

• End the apartment complex’s unlawful blanket ban on renting to individuals using Section 8 housing vouchers or other rental assistance programs.
• Establish and distribute to staff a written policy requiring equal treatment of applicants regardless of their source of income.
• Require staff and management to complete fair housing training.
• Advertise each apartment vacancy on forums that serve individuals using housing assistance, including the Marin Housing Authority website.
• Post and make available copies of CRD’s fair housing factsheet in both English and Spanish in rental offices and common areas.
• Pay $35,000 to Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California, a nonprofit fair housing organization.
