Leopard 42 review.

The Leopard 42 emerged in 2001 to replace the Leopard 45. Designed by Alex Simonis, the L42 extended the lines of the Leopard 38 and offered a 3-cabin, 3-head model and a 4-cabin, 4-head model. Approximately 50 Leopard 42s were made before being replaced by the Leopard 43 in 2004.

Despite its heritage of award-winning catamarans, the Leopard 42 won no awards. However, the L42 is still highly sought-after by cruisers worldwide. Let’s look at why.

Exterior styling has been matched to the modern look of the award-winning Leopard 50, which features continuous hull side windows, a continuous hardtop and what has quickly become our signature overhead lounge area. The interior design adopted the styling developed for the award-winning Leopard 53 Powercat. With modern contrasts, indirect lighting and elegant finishes, the Leopard 42 brings more luxury and elegance to the range of Leopard sailboats. All double beds are now island beds allowing access from both sides. With windows in all permitted spaces, natural light is amplified. Available in 3 stateroom / 3 bath and 4 stateroom / 4 bath, all staterooms include their own private bathrooms. Additionally, all bathrooms include their own designated shower area; a feature not currently found on catamarans in this length range.

In the saloon, we have included a part of the glass roof, as well as an additional window in the aft starboard corner that looks out towards the navigation station seat. The forward facing L shaped kitchen is sure to appeal to any chef! The Leopard 42 has the unmistakable DNA of a Leopard catamaran with many new technologies and construction techniques used to make it a magnificent ocean-going catamaran with a sense of space, comfort and performance previously only found on significantly larger models. I was a little skeptical especially on the deposit but after speaking with you all it put me at ease that if for some reason this Lagoon wasn’t the right one that I’d get my deposit back. I have heard some horror stories. I actually started my search with a competitor but after thoroughly reading this companies reviews I decided to part ways early in the process. I bought a yacht that I had never seen. I did this because I trusted my broker Andrew Holland. It was not an easy job for Andrew, as I am an experienced boat builder and owner of previous yachts, but work in West Africa. Imagine how hard it was to communicate what I was looking for. Andrew came up with exactly what I wanted. He dealt with time delays, all my questions at odd hours, and was there for the survey. He reported honestly and professionally. After buying the yacht, I arrived at the boat on a Sunday night, after dark, after travelling from West Africa to the Caribbean, and found it was better than expected. He never pulled punches and made me aware of shortfalls. I expected to spend my one month leave working on the boat, but actually spent less than one week, and was able to spend 3 weeks sailing – wonderful bonus.
