Wind Spirit Overview
Windstar’s intimate Wind Spirit is one of the most unique cruising vessels you’ll ever see, as she boasts four impressive sailing masts – thus you’ll often hear her referred to as a “sail ship” instead of a cruise ship. Her expansive teak decks offer plenty of space to spread out and find your own private alcove, while her onboard watersports platform, pool, hot tub, lounge and casino give you a variety of ways to socialize and meet other guests. While aboard the Wind Spirit , you can enjoy informative destination briefings and port lectures before venturing out into each unique destination. And when you return, be prepared for an outstanding meal at one of the ships onboard restaurants. To learn more about Windstar’s Wind Spirit , contact one of our expert cruise consultants today.

Windstar Cruises unveils a multi-million refurbishment project for the 3 sailing ships (2023-2026)
Windstar Cruises has announced a comprehensive multi-year, multi-million-dollar project to enhance its classic sailing yachts, including the Wind Star , Wind Spirit , and Wind Surf , set to be completed by 2026. The initiative aims to craft spaces that promote relaxation, encourage connections, and fulfill multifunctional needs, according to Stijn Creupelandt, Windstar’s vice president of hotel operations and product development.
The initial phase of construction on Wind Star, accommodating up to 148 guests, has already been completed. The refurbishments encompassed the vessel's lobby, lounge, spa and fitness center, pool deck, and involved the addition of new artwork, extra WiFi access points, and larger TVs in each cabin. Subsequent phases, commencing in 2026, will focus on renovating Wind Star's staterooms, the main dining room, and its lunch and breakfast restaurant.
The aesthetic transformation draws inspiration from classic and modern yacht architecture, incorporating elements inspired by sails, the sea, visited cities, and guest preferences. Jessica Payne, responsible for interior design at Windstar, notes that stepping into the lobby during embarkation should evoke a sense of boarding a private yacht while experiencing the service of a luxury boutique hotel.
The larger Wind Surf, accommodating 342 guests, is scheduled for two renovation phases in 2024 and 2026. These phases will encompass a comprehensive refresh of public areas, introducing new layouts, lighting, furniture, floor coverings, art, and more. Staterooms and suites will also undergo updates, including new decor, furniture, and interactive televisions.
The 148-passenger Wind Spirit is set to undergo a complete overhaul by 2025, marking a significant enhancement of the vessel.
This initiative follows Windstar’s recent $250 million makeover of Star Breeze , Star Legend , and Star Pride , which involved the innovative step of cutting Star Breeze in half and adding a new section.
The Essence of Small Ship Sailing
Wind Star is a sleek, 4-masted sailing yacht accommodating 148 guests. With four decks and a gross tonnage of 5,703, Wind Star feels like your own private yacht.

All staterooms have ocean views, queen beds, flat-screen TV with DVD player, and the Owner’s Suite includes a sitting area.
Wind Star offers two primary dining venues. Amphora restaurant offers gourmet, course-by-course cuisine in the evenings and Veranda restaurant offers casual buffet and full-service dining for breakfast and lunch. All dining is open seating. And, for dining under the stars, make a reservation for Candles which features steaks and skewers.
Wind Star amenities include: World Spa by Windstar, Watersports Platform, Lounge, Pool, and Hot Tub.
Windstar has always been known for our iconic sailing ships, and now Wind Star has under her Setting Sails: A Wind Class Refresh . The initiative brings the tight-knit connection of the Windstar community to the forefront through the redesign of public spaces and staterooms. From a revamped lobby to a new pool and larger pool bar, new World Spa by Windstar to a redesigned lounge, this initiative also includes intricate details like new teak decks and décor for a timeless and welcoming experience.
