History of CNB Yachts
CNB is one of the oldest French shipyards, located on the French Riviera. It was started in 1885 as a family-run business by Paul Auguste Pailleron. In 1992, CNB celebrated its 100-year anniversary with the launch of its successful 77 series cruisers.
Its shipyards currently produce sailing yachts from 78 to 88 feet. Its signature designs, the CNB 66 and the CNB 77, feature naval architecture and exterior lines developed by Philippe Briand and an interior design by AYTECH Architects. CNB also specializes in custom-made vessels. Its world-renowned yachts have earned awards and accolades, having won five World Superyacht Awards to date.

I lived ‘Below Deck’ on a luxury yacht — here’s what you need to know
Tahiti, St. Thomas and the French Riviera — I’ve yachted in all of these exotic locales, albeit from the comfort of my couch. And, millions of Americans are in the same boat.
In 2013, “Below Deck,” introduced the masses to the most glamorous mode of traveling: yachting. Since then, it’s become a Bravo mainstay with Season 9 of “Below Deck Mediterranean’’ premiering in June.
But how real is the reality show? I spent five nights on a yacht in Croatia to find out.
A tip on tipping
My suitcase wasn’t bursting with Benjamins. An agency at your final destination provides cash for the crew’s tip money. While you’re expected to tip $30,000 for a two-night cruise on “Below Deck,” in real life you only have to tip 10% to 15% of your charter fee. That’s about $10,000 for a two-night cruise on a 180-foot charter yacht like Mustique (from $250,000 a week), which stars in the new season.
According to Zvonimir Androi, president of the yacht charter company Via Croatia, more often than not, the tip comes from what’s left over after provisioning.
So, shun the Dom Pérignon and skip the beluga caviar, and you’ll have money to spare.
What’s up, dock?
In real life, “Below Deck’s” favorite commercial-break cliff-hanger isn’t nearly as dramatic. Docking in our yacht, Via Croatia’s five-cabin, 100-foot Adriatic Escape (from $52,800 a week), was breezy.
I asked the crew if they hated setting up the slide — a tortuous, Herculean task if you believe what you see on TV.
“It’s not that bad,” a twentysomething Croatian deckhand, as cute as his on-screen counterparts, told me. “That said, we’re definitely not sad if you don’t ask for it.”
Play it cool
Despite being served meat on more than one occasion, my vegetarian co-guests on board weren’t divas when it came to cuisine — a major source of chef-related stress on the show.
Tantrums aren’t the norm Barbie Pascual, the “Below Deck” stewardess famous for putting up with former “RHONY” star Jill Zarin’s demands for the perfect Diet Coke in the “Real Housewives of Grenada” episode, tells me. “Guests know they are being filmed so their reactions are more extreme than they’d be if the cameras weren’t around,” she says.
Pascual’s biggest tip for first-time yachters? Don’t go skinny dipping, like they do on the show, after dark.
“People forget about currents, sharks, etc.,” she says. “Jumping in the water should always be with the captain’s consent!”
Our humorless Croatian yacht captain was a far cry from “Below Deck Mediterranean’s” affable Captain Sandy Yawn. I think we only saw him twice over the course of four days, and he definitely didn’t join us for dinner.
That was fine by us because the stews and deckhands were always handy with anything we needed — including at chat.
Asking for it
“No” is a word you’ll never hear on a yacht, unless there is a safety issue, Pascual says.
While we didn’t ask our crew to do a striptease or decorate for ‘70s night (two recurring requests on the show), out-there demands aren’t out of the question, as long as you’re willing to pay for it.
For example, Via Croatia is currently retrofitting one of its multimillion-dollar superyachts for an upcoming charter booked by a multigenerational Jewish family from Florida.
“In addition to paying the charter fee, the client is literally buying everything new: pots, pans, silverware, etc.” said Androi. “They’re even spending $30,000 on a new tender for the elderly mother-in-law.”
Now, I’m no reality show producer, but a picky primary trying to keep his wife, her elderly mom and their kosher kids happy at sea has the makings of an Emmy Award-winning episode.
Yachting on a budget
Charters are cheapest at the beginning and end of a destination’s season. Via Croatia’s yuppiest yacht, the 160-foot, 12-cabin Agape Rose , fetches $200,000 a week in July and August. But it’s just $164,000 a week in April and October. Divide that by 24 of your closest friends and family and it’s just $6,800 a person.
If that’s still too much, consider booking a yacht club suite on one of MSC Cruises ’ Mediterranean voyages.
Sure, you’ll be on a cruise liner, but for $1,659 a person you’ll be treated to seven nights of private butler service with a private pool and restaurant that the pleb passengers don’t even know exists.

An investigation into the sinking of the Bayesian might result in changes to how masts are constructed, according to a professor of transport law.
Much has been made of the size of Bayesian's 75m (246ft) aluminium mast, which according to Italian shipbuilder Perini makes it the tallest of its kind in the world.
Karsten Borner, the captain of another yacht anchored nearby at the time of the storm, said he saw the mast "bend and then snap", according to Italy's Corriere della Sera daily newspaper.
But search and rescue divers have since noted the ship is tilted on its side and seems to be intact, suggesting the mast might not have broken.
Either way, Nicola Romana, a professor of transport and tourism law at the University of Palermo, says investigations into how the ship sunk could force a change to ship building.
He told la Repubblica: "In the case of Bayesian, a safety investigation, I imagine, could concern the height of the mast, whether it could have caused an imbalance with the hull, thus leading in the future to not building such tall masts or to using other types of alloys, different from aluminium."
However, retired Royal Navy commander Tom Sharpe told Sky News today he thought discussions about the involvement of the mast in the Bayesian's sinking were "a distraction".
He said the vessel's draught (the depth of the ship below the waterline) was "specifically designed to withstand those sorts of stresses".
"The mast is designed to have a massive sail hanging off it with the wind trying to blow the boat over," he said.
"So I think that's a distraction unless there was a condition with the keel - if they had a retractable keel and that made the boat less stable that way."
Two more bodies have been found by rescue divers in the search for survivors of the sunken Bayesian yacht.
It brings the total number of victims found today to four, after two other bodies were found earlier this afternoon (see 14.36 post).
Five people have now been confirmed dead after the yacht sunk in the early hours of Monday morning off Palermo following a violent storm. The body of chef Recaldo Thomas was recovered on Monday.
The identities of those discovered today are unknown at this stage.
An ambulance thought to contain one of the bodies found in the search for those missing has driven away from the harbour, says our correspondent Ashna Hurynag .
She describes the "distinct quietness" as the body was loaded into the vehicle earlier.
"One thing that's really striking about being here on the ground is it's incredibly silent," she says despite around 50 or 60 people being present.
But she says the quietness was punctured by blue lights and sirens as the ambulance drove away in convoy with two navy vehicles.
A friend of Recaldo Thomas, the on-board chef whose body was recovered on Monday, has described him as a "special human being".
The body of Mr Thomas was the first to be discovered following the sinking of the Bayesian, with two more victims of the shipwreck found this afternoon (see 2.36pm post).
A friend of Mr Thomas said of the chef:
"He was one of a kind, a special human being. Incredibly talented, with a contagious smile and laugh. He had an incredible voice and a love of the ocean and the moon, and crystals. We are broken."
The search for those still missing now looks like a recovery operation, an expert has said, after two bodies were found.
Dr Jamie Pringle, a reader in forensic geoscience at Keele University tells Sky News there have been cases where people have survived for about 60 hours in similar depths of water.
But he says they are "very rare" and the longer time goes on, the less likely it is they will be found alive.
Simon Boxall, a senior lecturer in oceanography at the University of Southampton, tells us it is "fairly certain" they are still onboard.
But he says it's also possible they were thrown from boat and into the sea, so a search of the surrounding waters will continue until they're found.
Tidal flows in the region are generally very weak and the visibility isn't bad outside of the boat, he adds.
Mr Boxall also says warmer waters are fuelling big storms and this is "one of the first super tornadoes" in the western Mediterranean.
He says waterspouts aren't as uncommon as people think, although about 90% are completely harmless.
"Tornadic waterspouts," on the other hand, cause damage to vessels as winds of more than 150 miles an hour with lots of water hit the boat.
"I think it took the vessel by surprise, and it would have come on within literally a few minutes," he says.
Search and rescue teams have been looking for six people who were missing after the Bayesian superyacht sunk on Monday.

The Italian coastguard has not yet identified the two bodies recovered from the shipwreck this afternoon, which brought the total number of victims to three.
Rescue teams have unloaded a body bag from one of the ships searching for the remains of the sunken Bayesian.
Two bodies have been found today. Their identities are not yet known.
They are the second and third victims of the shipwreck to be found. The body of the superyacht's chef, Recaldo Thomas, was discovered shortly after the vessel sank.
There has been no identification of the bodies found or confirmation of their gender, says news correspondent Ashna Hurynag.
Eight divers from all over Italy have been working meticulously over the last two days to find them, she says.
In total there are between 20 and 50 emergency personnel involved, with "no expense spared in the resources trying to find and recover those people".
The divers have been sending back key information to a command centre on the harbourside, who are pouring over drawings and diagrams.
"There was a real sense of concern that those six missing people may have been trapped in those cabins," says Hurynag.
"We knew that there was a lot of furniture as the boat capsized and sunk beneath the water, and the fear was that that some of that furniture had been trapping those inside."
Back on dry land are 15 survivors of "what can only be described as an incredibly traumatic incident".
"For those people who've been on this luxury holiday, for it to all end in this way is truly, truly frightening."
Two bodies have been found in the search for survivors of the sunken Bayesian yacht.
The identities of the pair are not yet known.
UK businessman Mike Lynch is among those yet to be accounted for.
The vessel sunk in the early hours of Monday morning off Palermo following a violent storm.
Several boats were seen leaving the port of Porticello and heading to the site of the sinking just before 3.30pm today.
It means there are still four people missing from the 22 that were on board at the time of the Bayesian's sinking.
According to Italian newspaper la Repubblica, the two bodies were found inside the boat behind two mattresses.
Sky News has not independently verified the reports.

The range of semi-custom private yachts currently built by Timmerman Yachts and designed by their European partners includes models ranging from 26 – 47m, namely the TM26, TM33, TM40 and TM47. Timmerman Yachts was founded in 2003 and named after Franz Timmerman (1644-1702) who introduced Dutch boat building methods to Russia in the 17th century. Timmerman is credited with convincing Peter the First of both the importance and the charm of maritime affairs and he was entrusted with the construction of great fleets of both naval and trading vessels. As well as forging links between two Great European Embassies, Franz Timmerman was also able to arrange for Tsar Peter to study at the Amsterdam boat yards where the Tsar got his "Certificate of Timmerman" as ship joiner.
The yachting company continues this very successful Russian-Dutch partnership, with more than 1000 people who studied in Holland now working at Timmerman Yachts at the Moscow Shipyard in Russia. The name of Franz Timmerman, co-founder of the Russian Navy, is honoured in the title of this project.
