YAS Yacht – High-end $180M Superyacht
The YAS yacht is a 141-meter (463 ft) superyacht that was originally a Dutch navy ship before being converted into a luxury vessel.
The price of YAS is reported to lie close to US $180 million, and she is ranked in 11th place on the list of largest superyachts in the world.
YAS yacht interior
The interior of the YAS yacht was designed by Pierrejean, a French design, and architecture studio specializing in luxury aircraft and ship design.
The yacht can welcome up to 60 guests, which is impressive and rare in the superyacht industry. 56 crew members find space below the deck.
The interior of the yacht features glass elevators, a spa, a gym, and highly futuristic design elements.
The large glass dome at the front of the vessel houses the owner’s suite, which has an oval shape and is completed by a round bed.
Of course, the YAS yacht has a state-of-the-art entertainment system and is furnished using only the most high-quality materials.
Specifications
YAS is a converted Dutch navy ship that was originally constructed in 1977 and served in the military for 20 years.
At the time, she was named HNLMS Piet Hein and only measured 135 meters (442 ft).
She was eventually sold to the UAE military, where she served until 2006 and converted into a superyacht at ADM Shipyards.
YAS has little resemblance with a warship today, but she has kept her agility and speed. Despite her size, she can reach top speeds of 30 knots and sails comfortably at average speeds of 25 knots.
She was a beam of 14.4 meters (47.3 ft) and a draft of 4.75 meters (15.7 ft). Her total weight lies at 5,002 tons which can be attributed to her impressive steel hull.
She was recently refitted in Germany and relaunched in 2021.
YAS is an unusual yacht in many ways. Both her interior and exterior were designed by the French studio Pierrejean and she is said to have been modeled to resemble a dolphin with her immense glass superstructure.
She is a very long yacht with an aerodynamic shape that allows her to retain speed while still looking elegant and luxurious.
YAS has a helipad, spacious storage for water toys, and, of course, several pools on board for the enjoyment of the guests.
The original price for YAS is estimated to lie close to US $180 million, although she has since been refit which suggests that her current value might lie closer to US $200 million.

Tycoons berth superyachts at Yas for the Grand Prix
The 110-metre dilbar, one of world's largest superyachts, will be one of 140 yachts berthed at yas marina for the abu dhabi grand prix..
The 110-metre Dilbar, owned by Russian tycoon and Arsenal football club part-owner Alisher Usmanov, is one of 140 yachts expected at Yas Marina for the big race.
ABU DHABI // One of the world's largest yachts has arrived at Yas Marina for the final Formula One race of the Grand Prix season.
The 110-metre Dilbar will be one of 140 yachts berthed at the marina for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. She is owned by the Russian tycoon Alisher Usmanov, who also owns a large share of Arsenal football club.
Last year there were 131 boats in the marina. This year, 140 of the 143 spots are already filled, Cedric Le Rest, the manager of Yas Marina and Yacht Club, said.
Nearly everyone who used the marina last year has returned, he said.
Dilbar is among them. "We're happy to be back," Tim Armstrong, Dilbar's captain, said. She docked on Tuesday.
Mr Le Rest expects the remaining three places to go before race day. "We know the market here and it is very last-minute for bookings. Last year we had a guy who booked in at the very last minute and loved it so much he rebooked two berths for this year," he said.
"Those who were sceptical have heard how good it was and are booking. It is not just about the race but also about the party and the atmosphere."
The parties will be a little more restrained this year, though, with boats banned from playing music after 2am.
"Last year we had music to 7am. There are people who like to sleep and we are close to the hotel.
"The concerts have helped a lot. When they're announced, there is a rush of inquires."
Of the boats booked so far, he estimated 80 per cent are based in the UAE, with a further five per cent from surrounding Gulf countries. Most of the rest are from the Mediterranean.
This year, those on the yachts can go to the new restaurants at the club, including the Stars 'n' Bars sports bar and the restaurant Cipriani.
Prices start from Dh10,000 to berth a 10-metre boat for the five days of the Grand Prix meeting. The Dilbar will have to pay Dh250,000.
It is, according to Mr Le Rest, much cheaper than Monaco. The cheapest there is €20,000 (Dh100,000) for seven nights, he said, and a 110-metre berth costs €98,200.
The smallest vessel in the marina will be Stew Murphy's six-metre wakeboarding boat, which is moored there all year.
"It is expensive to moor the boat there for the year but I get my passes for the race," said Mr Murphy, a 42-year-old New Zealander. "It will be a bit intimidating in between all the big yachts, but we will probably use it for storing ice and we'll watch the race from the hotel."

The Formula 1 finale in Abu Dhabi is a true bucket-list event, one of the season’s most spectacular highlights. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix attracts 60.000 spectators every year and is held on the stunningly beautiful Yas Island.
6. - 8. December 2024
Seize the final thrill..
Spanning three exhilarating days in November, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is a ‘must-see’ race of the Grand Prix championship, as it is F1’s only twilight race. With Formula 1 cars speeding around the 5.554 km track 55 times, the Yas Marina Circuit is home to a magical atmosphere as day fades to night and the lights shine down on some of the biggest names in auto-racing.
Becoming the new final destination of the Grand Prix in 2009, the impressive Yas Marina Circuit is dominated by its 1,2 km straight between Turns 5 and 6 and the tricky run through Turns 10 and 11 into 12. Its floodlit track has become the pinnacle of the tournament as the big finish and, of course, the hub of some of the biggest parties of the season.
Spectators have many exciting options for where to watch the climactic championship finale: a hotel room with a prime trackside view, a spot in the grandstands in the center of the electrifying energy, or, most notably, an exclusive berth in the Yas Island Marina. Joining Port Hercule in Monaco as one of the only two F1 circuits offering trackside berths, there are endless reasons to indulge in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix experience with a luxury yacht charter.
To experience the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in all of its glory, contact us to charter a luxurious yacht for your action-packed vacation at sea! Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital
There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.
How to find the right boat?
There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.
Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.
This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.
Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such option offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).
If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.
Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.
How to buy tickets?
Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.
“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!” wrote (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.
Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.
Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.
Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.
Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as this offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.
This website (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other website sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.
Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.
“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.
There are two main boarding piers in the city center: Hotel Ukraine and Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.
Where to sit onboard?
Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.
The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.
Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.
There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Once you've booked your superyacht berth or secured your Yacht Hospitality package for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix , it’s time to get to grips with the transport options and amenities of the Yas Marina.
Surrounded by the Yas Marina Circuit, the Yas Marina has been designed with trackside viewing in mind, and there is a whole host of restaurants, bars and leisure facilities to complement the state-of-the-art superyacht facilities.
To help you navigate your way around the busy marina and beyond during race week, we have compiled a handy guide to make your experience at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Water taxis
Complimentary water taxis will be in operation to transport Yas Marina Pass Holders from the pick–up and drop–off locations as shown on the map above.
- Thursday 22 November, between 12pm and 9pm,
- Friday 23 November - Sunday 25, between 12am and 2am.
Public club car shuttle
It’s worth bearing in mind that there are no water taxi stations closer to the track. Guests will instead have to use the public club car shuttle, which runs alongside part of the race track on the south and south-western side of the marina. There are five pick-up and drop-off points along the way.
- Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 November between 12pm and 9pm.
Yas Express
To access and leave the marina, a shuttle bus will be available. The pick-up point is stationed near the marina entrance, in close proximity to Stars N’ Bars and Cipriani.
The service connects all the major attractions around Yas Island, including Ferarri World, Yas Mall, Yas Waterworld and all of the island's hotels.
- Thursday 22 November - Sunday 25 November, 24 hours a day.

Drinking and dining at Yas Marina
For those looking to dine or enjoy a cocktail while soaking up the ambience of Yas Marina, there are plenty of eateries and bars on site. The Yas Viceroy Hotel plays host to three superb restaurants each offering a different cuisine and ensuring a superb dining experience at the centre of the marina.
Closer to the marina’s entrance, visitors will find restaurants and bars with a more relaxed atmosphere. Offering mesmerising vistas and a buzzing vibe, this promenade transforms into a party hub once the sun has set. Guests can enjoy fine dining at Cipriani , cocktails at Iris and an infectious atmosphere at Stars N' Bars .
Outside Yas Marina
Another highlight of the racing event which is not be missed is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after-race concerts , which take place at the du Arena. Located just five minutes’ drive from the marina, one of the shuttle buses will be able to take you directly to the venue.
Between du Arena and the marina, the world-renowned Amber Lounge will be in full swing at a special waterfront venue at Yas Links Golf Club. The event dazzles attendees year after year, with F1 drivers and celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Kylie Minogue among the event’s impressive roster of guests.
