The Hurricane Fleet is the Original Myrtle Beach Dolphin Cruise company. We operate out of the closest port to the Atlantic Ocean, allowing for more time on the water….to search for Dolphins.

On days when the  shrimp boats are running, we are able to pull right up behind to watch the dolphins feeding off the scraps and the nets coming out of the ocean full of fun critters. When the shrimp boat is running, the crew will toss up a bag of goodies for you to see, learn about, and touch if you’d like.

Our base is a cozy, quaint fishing town offering some of the world’s best seafood and unique shops. Located about 10 minutes outside of North Myrtle Beach, at the closest port to the ocean, you’ll have more time on the ocean enjoying the beautiful views of the Myrtle Beach area coastline.

Showing kids ocean finds during our Myrtle Beach Dolphin Tour

This Dolphin Cruise & Tour runs from 1:30-3:30 pm and 4:00 – 6:00 pm most days. We often add a third trip as well. On select days we offer the Dolphin Cruise around sunset. This very popular trip often sells out fast. Whichever tour you take, you’ll have time to eat fresh, world class seafood right in the village before or after your trip. It’s a fantastic combo that families have been enjoying for years. Bring your camera , this is one tour that you’ll want to share.

IMAGINE THIS : Your dolphin tour begins with a nice cruise through the jettys and out into the ocean. As the Myrtle Beach coastline comes into view, our 90-foot tour boat cruises the coast in search of dolphins, giving you a full view of the coastline. This is an excellent way to see the area from a different perspective, while cruising along in a comfortable setting.

This Myrtle Beach dolphin cruise is a trip for the young, and old. Bring the whole family. Every kid on this trip will get a Free Shark Tooth to take home with them.

More information about our fishing charters and company can be found on our About Us page.

Dolphin Cruise

These guys were absolutely amazing! Just don’t bring bananas! Our family of seven took a dolphin cruise. Well worth the value, the crew on board was absolutely amazing! They showed the kids shark teeth shark jaws the captain got us right on dolphins. And just made it a very memorable experience. It gets windy on the water, bring a jacket, also be prepared for a fun ride! A special thanks to crew members, Callie and Colby, and a guy I never caught his name, but he had some slick sunglasses! Haha. Thank you! We took the 1:30p cruise.

Tim Schmidt Avatar

Great experience we went on the dolphin cruise and everyone had a good time.

I cannot believe how many dolphins we saw today! They were so beautiful. We had the best day. I definitely recommend this!

Julie York Avatar

We did the Dolphin tour. We saw several dolphins. It was well worth it to get out on the ocean. My daughter did get a little sea sick but got through it and obviously it was no fault of hurricane fleet just bring some dramamine along.

Samantha Gardner Avatar

One of the highlights of our beach trip. My 3 year old keeps talking about it. I was nervous about taking a toddler on a 2 hour trip with no guarantees but I booked the dolphin sunset cruise in the morning and we were on the water watching dolphins that evening. There’s something to do the whole trip. The ride out on the Intracoastal Waterway has scenery, seagulls that occasionally fly along with the boat, and the Captain has facts about what you’re passing. Once out on the ocean, the Captain had the boat next to a pod of dolphins within 10 minutes. Before leaving the dock he said he had to have the boat back at a certain time but then stayed out a few extra minutes because a separate pod of dolphins showed up right as we were about to head in. The ride back to the dock was relaxing. The weather had cooled off, the water was smooth, and you head down the waterway facing the setting sun. Perfect spot to grab a picture then sit back and take it in. Didn’t know what to expect so we packed some snacks in a small bag but they had a snack bar and on the way in one of the crew had something going on a grill. We’ll go back next year for sure and will recommend it to anyone in the area on vacation.

By far the best dolphin cruise we have been on! Great crew, very informative and amazing dolphin sightings, plus the captain got right behind the shrimp boat so we could watch them pull their nets and dump the shrimp. It was AMAZING!!

Shannon Winland Avatar

Best dolphin cruise out there!

Jaime Rimer Avatar

We LOVED this trip! The mates were so funny and personable, the Captain was really informative and his commentary about all the things we saw was so interesting. He really seems to love sharing the intercoastal waterway with people. We saw dolphins two minutes out of the docks and the captain turned the boat so everyone had a chance to see them. It was magical. The price was incredibly reasonable for a nice long cruise and there is not one single thing I would see done differently. Can't wait to see them again next year!

Belladora 64 Avatar

Amazing experience!!! All of the crew were wonderful. Aaron was amazing and help us out so so much. We will visit again soon Thanks from Zoe and Dan

Daniel Turner Avatar

Great time here! Great staff, good value. Everything you need available. They have burgers, hot dogs, drinks, snacks, supplies Would definitely go with them again!

We took the sunset cruise and it was awesome. Got to see a lot of dolphins and the sunset was beautiful. The captain and crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. There were 14 of us ranging from age 14 months to 64 years old and everyone enjoyed it. For the price it was well worth the trip. Highly recommend

Jill Erb Avatar

Loved everything about the dolphin tour. Sadly we didn't see any dolphins, but the Capitan & crew were phenomenal. The boat ride was glorious! The scenery was beyond beautiful! Honestly, for the price, even without seeing any dolphins, I'd absolutely pay to do it again. Very much worth it!

great catamaran ride

We had an excellent ride on the sail boat with Johnny as our "Captain" Not only was it relaxing and fun, but our interaction with Johnny was very pleasurable.

Thanks! Johnny has been a part of the Downwind Sails team for a long, long time! We are blessed to have him!

It was great everyone was so helpful and understanding friendly. Its a really good place to go. Great hospitality

Thanks for the business!

The banana boat ride to the boat was great fun. On the way out, we saw a jellyfish swimming by. We had never been parasailing before, so we weren't sure what to expect. It was an amazing experience to be up that high in the air over the ocean. The staff was very helpful to get us set up and ready to go. I would recommend the picture package as well - very clear photos, all great shots. The only downside was one of our family feeling quite seasick on the boat. We went out about 3 p.m., so maybe the water wouldn't have been so choppy earlier in the day. Otherwise, a nice experience!

My wife and I have frequented this establishment for the past 3-years, and based on our experience with other places offering the same services, this one has the best people, and the best equipment. This year we rented a double’s jet ski, and a 16’ Hobie Cat for an hour each. The staff is courteous and attentive, and the equipment is new. My wife and I were especially impressed by the knowledge and service we received from Johnny, while renting the Hobie. Johnny is extremely personable, and makes the overall experience even more enjoyable. Unlike other places, your time doesn’t start until you actually enter the water. A few years back we tried another place in Murrell’s Inlet, and that establishment tried to cut our time in half, after our old jet ski broke down in the beginning. This is definitely the place to go! They’re reputable, and have been in business for years. We’ve looking forward to returning for another great experience this week!

myrtle beach catamaran

The Captain and 1st Mate were excellent. They were concerned about the people on the boat, while they were parasailing and even offered ideas about restaurants.

Called another place but they were closed Sunday so I found Downwind right next door to our hotel. Walked over and set up a SUP lesson with Jeff. Typically it's planned for the ocean but if it's too rough, or if you prefer river or lake, they'll tailor it. One of us had fears of critters in the water and Jeff was happy to discuss it until she was comfortable, but he wasn't pushy. Equipment seemed quality and SUP is WAY easier than you'd think. Once we got the hang of it we all just paddled around and chatted with Jeff who was fun to talk to and gave us local's tips on restaurants etc. The only thing I'd change is asking for a river tour, which would have been more interesting than the lake - they're working on setting up something like this and I'd definitely return for it next time.

Boat Cruises in Myrtle Beach

boat cruises myrtle beach

Whether you want to go on a dolphin cruise or enjoy the history of a pirate cruise, there are plenty of ways to do it in Myrtle Beach. These boat rides will take you to a variety of areas and let you experience some of the best scenery in the area.

Dolphin cruises

Dolphin cruises are a unique experience. They are not only fun, but they are also a great way to experience the local marine life. Whether you want to take a ride with your friends, family, or your company, dolphin tours in Myrtle Beach are a perfect addition to your vacation plans.

Each cruise has its own unique route. Some take passengers through uninhabited islands and some travel through the Intracoastal Waterway winding through some of the best Real Estate Myrtle Beach has to offer . However, all dolphin cruises are first-rate in terms of boat caliber, hospitality, and overall experience.

In Myrtle Beach, dolphins are usually seen just feet away from the vessel. When the North winds shift in the fall, the dolphins begin to migrate south. This is the time they are most likely to be spotted.

A dolphin cruise is one of the best ways to see dolphins. It’s also a relaxing and inexpensive way to spend an afternoon. Your cruise will leave the beach for the ocean, passing swinging bridges, historic homes, shrimp trawlers, and other landmarks. You’ll also have the opportunity to view a jetty that’s heading out into the ocean.

If you’re traveling with children, you may consider a narrated dolphin tour. This trip will take you through the Intracoastal Waterway, which is home to an abundance of wildlife. Depending on the day and time, you’ll see dolphins, sea horses, and other marine life.

Express Watersports offers narrated dolphin watching tours. These tours can be a half or full day experience. Guests can also choose to ride on a jet ski, which is a great way to get close to the dolphins. The cost for a narrated tour is $18 for kids under two, $22 for those aged three to twelve, and $40 for adults.

Blackbeard’s Pirate Cruise

One of the funkiest family experiences in the area is a tour of the world’s largest pirate ship in North Myrtle Beach. The gang can experience the wonders of the 1700’s aboard the fabled ‘Old Blackbeard’s Black Pearl. This nautical marvel has a reputation for churning out the goods in a manner akin to a well heeled pirate. Whether you are taking the whole gang on a voyage of discovery or embarking on a private charter, you can rest assured your crew is in good hands. It is a cruise you’ll never forget.

Among the most enjoyable moments is seeing the crew clap the ‘Old Blackbeard’s scotch in hand. The crew will show off their skills as they go about their business. For the kids, they can engage in games and activities that teach them a thing or two about their pirate brethren. The adults can take a break from the kiddos to check out the sights. As one of the only family-friendly cruises in the area, you’ll be able to savor the good ol’ days of sail without a second thought. You may even have an opportunity to sample some local fare at the many restaurants onboard. During your two or more hours of fun, you’ll also have a chance to win a tidbit or two. So if you’re looking for a little history, maritime lore and a few drinks with your crew, don’t pass up the opportunity to set sail for adventure.

Island Time Cruises

There’s no denying that one of the most relaxing and uplifting ways to spend your time in North Myrtle Beach is a good old-fashioned boat ride on the water. Luckily for you, there are several companies in the area that offer this experience in the form of sightseeing cruises, dinner cruises, and other fun-filled excursions. Depending on what type of vessel you opt for, you’ll be rewarded with a smooth ride, a full-service bar, and other amenities. Whether you are traveling with the family or planning a corporate outing, Island Time has you covered.

The most enjoyable part of the experience is seeing the dazzling view as you sail along the shores of the Grand Strand. Depending on your preferences, you can choose between a sunset sightseeing cruise or a full-day outing. All of these tours include a variety of activities like an open bar, live music, and even chocolate-covered strawberries. To make things even better, you can enjoy the experience with your own personal crew. This is the ultimate in customized experiences, especially for groups of any size.

For the money, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better experience than the one offered by Island Time. This company is the perfect choice for a family reunion, corporate outing, or simply a day on the town. While you’re on board, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins in the waters off of your ship’s bow. Hopefully you’ll see one or two. And, for those with a thing for boats, you’ll find that Island Time is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Of course, you don’t have to go far to find the best sailing catamaran in the Myrtle Beach area. Located in the Fantasy Harbour district, this company provides a taste of the best of the sea without leaving the dock.

ABOUT THE CRUISE

Narrated boat tour.

The Sea Racer crew will give you a narrated tour along the route from the moment you depart. The tour starts out from our dock in the Little River Fishing Village and takes you along the Intracoastal Waterway where you’ll see some magnificent properties only visible from the water. Then you continue through Little River Inlet and out to the ocean in search of dolphins.

Your crew will point out some of the fascinating scenery and share some interesting facts about the history and significance of the coastline and uninhabited islands along the way. Weather permitting, you’ll then pass through the jetties that connect the inland waters and busy Intracoastal Waterway to the Atlantic Ocean where you’ll have a chance to search, and likely see dolphins in their natural habitat.

SPEED BOAT RIDE

Sea Racer Dolphin Cruise Myrtle Beach 2

Sea Racer is the newest and fastest speed tour boat in the area. It’s a 70 foot fiberglass and aluminum passenger vessel , custom built by Ocean Rockets and powered by two turbocharged CAT diesel engines totaling 2300 horsepower. This offshore style race boat will give you a thrill ride of a lifetime at speeds of 35 miles per hour.

The boat is USCG certified to comfortably seat 128 passengers and will zip along the Intracoastal Waterway giving you the excitement and experience of being on a large speedboat.

DOLPHIN SIGHTINGS

After you’ve traveled at speeds up to 35 miles per hour along the Intracoastal Waters and coastline you’ll need a break to catch your breath.

This is when we slow down and look for dolphins that are usually feeding in the waters around Little River Inlet where the shrimp boats are fishing.

You’ll have an opportunity to take some pictures and possibly see dolphins in their natural habitat. With some coaxing from the viewers you may even get the captain to make a large wake behind the boat these playful creatures almost always love to jump in.

After the show we crank up the rockn’ sound track and turbo charged engines while we race back to shore with the wind in your face and thrill in the air.

Once inside Little River Inlet there’s another opportunity to see more wildlife around the islands and coastline, and you’ll also get a chance to see plenty of boats and watercrafts to admire along the way.

Murrells Inlet's Greatest Cruises

My girlfriend’s and I celebrated a birthday on this enchanted sunset cruise. Our Captain was professional, lovely, knowledgeable, engaging and fun. The boat is a beautiful vessel. A perfect BYOB mermaid sunset adventure! Thank you for such a memorable experience! A jewel of Merrill’s Inlet! Highly recommend for a romantic evening, group of friends or families with children. They have a special adventure for everyone!

"Our 5 year old absolutely loved it and for a month afterward has been asking about every other day if we can go again! Our 2 year old was a bit young and not sure what to think. It was a full adventure for the kids, finding things onboard, a water cannon fight with a "pirate," celebrating with fruit juice, etc. The crew had amazing energy and made sure all the kids had a fantastic time! I can't recommend this enough for people with young kids. I'd estimate it's best for 3-8 year olds. And it was a fantastic value. For our kids, this was the highlight of a week in and around Myrtle Beach."

"What a peaceful and pleasant evening cruise! The Captain and his Mate were very hospitable and meet our every need. The scenes were breathtaking and not only did we see the sun set but we captured the full moon arising and it was beyond words. Of course God is the master of the sun, moon, stars and our lives but He outdid Himself on this one and these folks were used of Him to escort us into the scene."

Worrell 1000 Race to make stop in Surfside Beach

S URFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Worrell 1000 Race, known as one of the toughest offshore catamaran races, will be stopping in Surfside Beach this weekend, giving people a chance to watch them race to and from the shores.

The race began as a bar bet between two brothers in Virginia Beach in 1974 and has grown into an internationally-known event.

This year, officials said 11 teams will race 1,000 miles from the beaches in Hollywood, Florida to Virginia Beach.

It started on May 12 and ends May 25. There are teams from six countries including Australia, Germany, France and the Netherlands.

John Williams, a principal race official, told News13 the combination of coastline and challenging waters makes this race unique.

“Of course, the Outer Banks famous for being the Graveyard of the Atlantic, where many vessels have been struck by bad weather and sunk. South Florida has a lot of shipwrecks, so there’s just nothing else like it,” Williams said. “There are other distance races, both here in the United States and elsewhere in the world, but none of them are 1000 miles and none of them are through such challenging waters.”

Officials explained the starting process as teams race to each of the 13 checkpoints.

“We do start on the sand, they don’t start in the water and it makes it very exciting for the people to come especially in the start,” communications director Beverley Simmons said. “[It’s] rewarding to see all of the posts lined up on the beach, they have their Skipper, they have their crew and they have a ground crew that helps push them down into and through the surf.”

Williams said once they are through the surf, the race is on.

“They’ll race as fast as they can, for about 60-80 miles a day to the next checkpoint, where they’ll come across the finish line and collect their finish time,” Williams said. “As they accumulate time over the two weeks, the team that has the shortest elapsed time from start to finish will win.”
