Billions TV Show Yacht ‘The Good Life’ Available To Rent

Earlier this year, the popular Showtime series ‘Billions’ wowed audiences with Damian Lewis boarding an impressive luxury yacht aptly named ‘The Good Life’. Having carried out some careful research, we can now reveal the true identity of the yacht, and how you can enjoy her on your own luxury yacht charter vacation .

Starring Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis, ‘Billions’ follows the life of a high flying hedge fund manager keen to live a lifestyle which best befits his generous salary and lucrative deals.

Named after the yacht itself, ‘The Good Life’ is the fifth episode and centres around Axe (Damian Lewis) setting out to fully enjoying the fruits of his labour.

Naturally, after spending some quality time in his pool and about his suitably large house, he decides to have a custom-built superyacht made for himself and his wife.

Arriving by tender -a customary approach when it comes to boarding larger motor yachts - Axe marvels at his bespoke creation from a distance before going on to enjoy its many impressive features.

Whilst in this sense ‘Billions’ does a great job of showing just how exciting superyachts can be,  it should be pointed out that the luxury yacht isn’t really called ‘The Good Life’, and she isn’t really the preserve of a single billionaire, but is in fact available for vacations in the Bahamas and Miami  this summer.

As well as entertaining American audiences on Showtime, Billions also accrued a strong British following when it premiered on Sky Atlantic earlier this year.

With a second series now confirmed, the web has been ablaze with fans discussing the luxurious lifestyle which is at the center of the show.

No doubt one of the greatest attractions and conversation points, however, was Axe’s yacht, and how it’s possible to rent one for a vacation.

So, without further ado, we can now reveal the name of the superyacht in ‘Billions’ as well as how much it costs to rent.

'Nothing short of a miracle': Missing N.L. fishing crew arrives home safely

The crew of the Elite Navigator, the fishing vessel missing since Wednesday, arrived home safely on Saturday.

The seven crew members were greeted by hundreds of people celebrating their return to Valleyfield, a neighbourhood in the town of New-Wes-Valley.

Some residents were waiting on the docks and its surrounding areas with signs and balloons. Others took to the water and greeted the crew in their own boats as they passed by on a Canadian coast guard in-shore rescue boat. 

The crew members' safe arrival was emotional, as family and friends tightly hugged the loved ones they thought they'd lost.

Elite Navigator captain Eugene Carter said the crew is happy to be home after spending almost three days in a life-raft following a fire on the ship that escalated quickly.

"Within five minutes, we had seven men aboard a life-raft and there was fire around us everywhere," Carter said.

Good spirits helped while stranded.

In the days that followed, Carter said the crew had to keep each other warm, there was limited water supply, and the raft kept drifting farther from land. Nonetheless, they stayed in good spirits.

"We were actually sitting around joking with each other, using the microphone, interviewing each other with the flashlight trying to keep our hopes and everything up," he said.

But the most challenging part of the situation wasn't being stuck on a life-raft in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean — it was thinking about what their families were going through.

"The hardest thing about it was knowing we were alive and everyone here thinking the opposite. That was the hardest thing to cope with out there," Carter said.

Llewellyn Howell, brother of one of the crew members, said people who grew up in fishing communities were raised to expect the worst.

"The thing is, we thought there was no chance. None whatsoever," Howell told CBC News.

Even the town's mayor said the situation was astonishing.

"It's nothing short of a miracle," said Michael Tiller.

Life-saving flare was the crew's last one

The entire crew was found in a life-raft by search-and-rescue teams on Friday night.

"A handheld red flare was spotted, which led us to a life-raft," the coast guard said in an update posted to Facebook on Saturday.

The flare that saved their lives was the last one the men had. When it caught the attention of the helicopter, Carter said, it was the best feeling in the world.

David Lee Tiller and Jordan Lee King, who were both on the raft, were in good spirits as they greeted their loved ones on Saturday.

Tiller feels lucky to be alive. 

"I'd fish with all the boys again tomorrow, any day. But thanks to the big one above we are home alive," he said.

King said he wasn't surprised when the helicopter found them. He knew someone would find them eventually, he said. 

"I felt amazing, I couldn't wait to get on board and get something to eat," King said. "It's good to be home."

'Great news story'

Greg Pretty, president of the Fish, Food & Allied Workers union, said he couldn't sleep after finding out the good news late Friday night.

"To see this come to a successful conclusion, like I suggested yesterday, is a great news story for this province and this whole country," Pretty told CBC News.

Premier Andrew Furey posted to social media at about 1 a.m. NT Saturday that search-and-rescue efforts had been a success.

"Our entire province is so relieved to hear the crew members of the Elite Navigator have been found and are returning to safety to their families, who have been waiting so anxiously for this good news," Furey posted. "Thank you to all the dedicated people involved in the search and rescue effort."

Pretty said the crew members' successful outcome shows the importance of safety training at sea.

"I can tell you without even knowing the details that there was a training component kicked in for those crew members and with the result of seven."

Five of the crew are from New-Wes-Valley, one is from Centreville-Wareham-Trinity and another is from the Gander Bay region.

The boat went missing off Newfoundland's northeast coast on Wednesday, with its last known location about 300 kilometres northeast of Gander that evening.

No injuries reported

"Everybody is in good health with no obvious injuries," Furey told a news briefing Saturday.

Tiller said the entire region had been holding its breath waiting for news, good or bad.

"Being human, you always have that fear in the back of your mind that the worst will happen. But when word started to spread last night, it was like a huge weighted blanket lifted after region and people were celebrating it," he said.

A significant fog bank about 15 nautical miles (about 28 kilometres) off the coast complicated search efforts Thursday.

Search efforts expanded Friday.

Four coast guard vessels, as well as a Cormorant helicopter and Hercules aircraft, helped in the search.

PAL Airlines also used sensors in flyovers to try to locate the boat, and a number of fishing vessels also joined in.

Dangers of fishing highlighted

Tiller said the entire incident highlights how dangerous the profession of fishing can be.

"It hits home because in small-town Newfoundland, you know everybody. You know who they are and you know their parents, their relatives, you know the boat owners. You know basically everything about them," he said.

"You grew up with them and, you know, it's like losing a part of your family.… It's nothing short of a miracle that they're all on the way home."

Too late to put on your life jacket after the boat crashes

Life jackets save lives on the water

A June boat accident off the southwest coast of Florida highlights the importance of wearing a life jacket.

Seven adults and a child were found clinging to a cooler after their 28-foot boat overturned near Boca Grande. Fortunately, they were all wearing life jackets and were rescued by the Coast Guard, but that isn’t always the case. 

In the most recent USCG boating statistics, three out of every four boaters who died in a boating accident drowned and of those deaths, 87% were not wearing a life jacket.

Many of these people considered themselves long-term boaters who knew how to swim, but in an accident, you might be knocked unconscious.

You wouldn’t try to put a seat belt on in the middle of a car crash. Likewise, it is not possible to try to put on a life jacket when you are in the middle of a boating emergency. 

When going out on the water, ensure everyone on board has a life jacket that fits properly. If you need one to borrow, check out one of the Sea Tow Foundation’s Life Jacket Loaner Stations . You never know just how lifesaving it could be.

Voters can't keep Furst accountable

Bill Furst should have had opposition in his run for reelection as Sarasota County property appraiser.

He hurt homeowners like me by deciding that replacing a worn-out roof was somehow an addition or improvement , instead of maintenance.

Furst made us pay more taxes because of increased appraisals, something no other property appraiser in the state agreed with.

Biden puts country before self

Becoming president of the United States must be the headiest drug imaginable to those with the ego required to achieve this honor. The decision to step down and pass the torch , as President Joe Biden just did, required him to reach conclusions no one wants to even think about. 

Biden had to acknowledge his age and his declining physical and mental abilities. And he had to realize that no one is irreplaceable, and that nothing lasts forever.

No matter what our political view might be, we must acknowledge that Biden put country before self. This is a great capstone to a long career of public service.

1. One Island Park

The One Island Park compound opened in Miami Beach in November last year and is designed solely for superyachts and is able to accommodate yachts measuring up to 244 metres in its deep water berths.

Visitors to One Island Park will enjoy a vast range of VIP concierge services, as well as a high level of exclusivity. The new compound was designed to showcase both the area and the best standards of service, meaning it will become an extremely popular spot for private owners, while its location means that clients can enjoy the thriving art scene, the beaches and the nightlife of Miami.

Island Gardens

The new superyacht marina Island Gardens Deep Harbour is situated on Watson Island and is capable of berthing 50 superyachts measuring up to 167 metres. The retail and residential aspects of the marina are not expected to be completed for the next two years, but the marina is fully operational with 1,524 linear metres of capacity with drafts of 5.4-6.4 metres deep.

Coconut Grove

Home to the U.S. Sailing Center and multiple yacht clubs, Coconut Grove is a hotbed for yachting activity. The 582-slip Dinner Key Marina, which survived the worst of the hurricane damage in September, sits right in the centre, and only steps away from the shops and restaurants of “The Grove.” The protected marina hosts yachts up to 38 metres with two metres of draft.

Sea Isle Marina

The Sea Isle Marina and Yachting Centre is a great place for yachts up to 42 metres to tie-up and be in close distance to what downtown has to offer with the Adrienne Arsht Center for the performing arts and the arena where the Miami Heat play right around the corner. There are also great restaurants right on site, as well as fuel and a ship’s store.

Miamarina at Bayside

Surrounded by shops, dining and even an outdoor auditorium, the Miamarina at Bayside is a lively marina. The marina has 130 slips and hosts yachts up to 60 metres and offers easy access to both the Atlantic through Government Cut and to Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys to the south.

Epic Marina

Epic Marina is surely one of the plushest in Miami and despite being hit hard during Hurricane Irma, is once again capable of hosting superyachts up to 95 metres. In the shadow of Miami’s luxe Epic Residences & Hotel, the marina isn’t short on high-end amenities. Guests can enjoy sumptuous meals at on site restaurants Area 31 and Zuma.

Sunset Harbour Yacht Club

Set off the Venetian Causeway on Biscayne Bay, Sunset Harbour Yacht Club offers ample dockage outside of the hubbub of the Miami Beach scene. Catering to yachts up to 45 metres with 125 deepwater slips, the designated “clean marina”, an initiative started by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, has some great amenities including a pool and fitness centre. Fuel can be delivered and it is loacated right around the corner from a large Publix supermarket for easy provisioning.

Indian Creek Marina

Across from Miami’s iconic and historic Fountainbleau Resort on Collins Avenue, Indian Creek Marina at the Fountainbleau Resort (home to one of the best hotel spas to visit in Miami ) can host yachts up to 76 metres. In February, this waterway is lined with yachts during the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show. The rest of the year, it’s open to transiting yachts and makes a great destination marina that is in close distance to Miami’s finest spas and eateries, as it's located right across from the beach.

Miami Beach Marina

In the south end of Miami Beach, the full-service Miami Beach Marina has 400 slips for yachts up to 76 metres. The marina offers direct access to Government Cut, a manmade shipping channel between Miami Beach and Fisher Island, which allows better access to the Port of Miami. Likewise, it’s only moments to the best of what South Beach has to offer; the beach and the best restaurants, nightlife and spas are just steps away.

Private Marinas

Yachtsmen seeking a private marina experience while in Miami should look no further than these havens:

The exclusive private island community of Fisher Island Club, across from Miami Beach, is ‘members only’, but sponsorship (from a member or the dockmaster) allows temporary membership for yachts up to 76.2 metres in length to tie up in the marina. And their owners can enjoy all the perks of the club, including the beach club, spa, tennis centre, hotel, restaurants and PB Dye-designed golf course.

Midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale in Aventura, Turnberry Isle Marina Yacht Club accommodates 117 yachts up to 45-metres. Amenities include 24-hour security, a private ocean club, pool, spa, several restaurants, and two 18-hole Raymond Floyd-designed championship golf courses.

Estranged wife wanted half of sergio pino’s fortune prior to murder-for-hire plot, according to complaint.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The estranged wife of South Florida developer Sergio Pino wanted half of her husband’s fortune in their divorce and refused to settle for an offered $20 million, according to a criminal complaint for one of the nine people arrested in a murder-for-hire plot.

According to the complaint, one of the suspects, Fausto Villa, contacted Avery Bivins, who he previously met in state prison, sometime in October or November of 2023 and said a wealthy man, later identified as Pino, contracted him to kill his estranged wife, Tatiana.

Authorities said Bivins then contacted a third person, Clementa Johnson, to kill the victim. He also allegedly enlisted Diori Barnard and Vernon Green, with Green eventually being tasked with carrying out the murder, which was ultimately unsuccessful.

Authorities confirmed that Pino and his wife had been in contentious divorce proceedings since 2022.

U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe said when they arrived at Pino’s Coral Gables house Tuesday, agents were cleared to pick him up on a probable cause arrest. Pino instead took his own life.

Charges against him would have included conspiracy to commit murder.

According to the FBI, Pino hired two separate crews of hitmen to try and undertake the heinous crime.

Crew one, which included Bayron Bennent -- hired help on Pino’s yacht -- was responsible for vehicle arsons and obtained the fentanyl Pino allegedly used to poison his wife.

When that failed, authorities said they rammed her car with a flatbed truck.

After the first crew was busted and with Pino already under investigation, authorities say he was undeterred in his mission of killing his wife.

Authorities said he hired a second crew, which included Villar, who did roofing work for Pino.

“The part of this that is even more striking is that Mr. Pino knew at some point that law enforcement was onto him because after the first crew failed, at that point he knew, and acquired counsel,” said Lapointe. “That didn’t stop him. He wasn’t intimidated that the FBI was actively investigating him -- that didn’t bother him at all. Law enforcement was disturbed by the level of brazenness that he had even though he knew they were after him, even though he knew they were onto him.”

The contract was to shoot Tatiana Pino to death for $150,000, with a condition that she die before the next divorce proceeding, authorities said.

They said Villar would get another $150,000 if the murder did not connect back to Pino.

According to Villar’s criminal complaint, Johnson brought on other people to “complete the contract” which Villar said needed to be done before June 24 “to ensure that she could not make the next divorce proceeding between her and Pino.”

According to his criminal complaint, it was Green who attempted to kill her on June 23 outside her home.

Authorities said Tatiana was pulling into her driveway when she noticed a Black male pulling out a gun and running toward her car.

In an attempt to get away, Tatiana drove into her backyard, “scraping the sides of her car against a tree and fence,” the complaint stated.

According to the complaint, Green ran into the backyard before running back toward the front of the home where he spotted the Pino’s adult daughter who went outside after hearing a loud crash and her mother continuously honking the horn.

The complaint states that the daughter ran toward the front open gate and spotted a black Dodge RAM pickup truck parked on the street.

Green then ran up behind her, pointed a gun at her head, grabbed her arm and told her to go back into the house, the complaint stated.

Authorities said Green then jumped into the back passenger seat of the pickup truck and the getaway driver sped away.

Lapointe said the gunman decided not to shoot the daughter because that was not what the job or contract entailed.
