Her accommodation includes a Grandiose full-beam master cabin coupled with a marble en-suite on her main deck, two double cabins and one twin cabin on her lower deck, both with en-suite facilities. Libra’s upper-deck is a rare combination of a private office and living room with original modernist furniture from the 50’s and 60’s.

The Noguchi coffee table and the vintage Charles Eames arm chair with foot rest, complement her teak-wood interiors and produce a very distinguished and comfortable atmosphere.

Ensuite is the captain’s bridge room with leather designed armchairs for guests who wish to watch the navigation.

In front of the bridge a hanging balcony offers extra sunbathing and the possibility of enjoying quiet moments with just the sound of the bow ripping the sea.

The outdoor space of this upper deck offers a large sunbathing and entertainment outdoor area with views.

Her spacious main living room with two facing ten meter long sofas can be transformed into an indoor dining room by lifting the two especially designed high low tables and adding folding chairs.

Near the glass doors stylish bean bags are an ideal extra seat allowing flexibility for lounging and watching movies.

The owner being a collector has curated a group of contemporary photographs with the sea being the main concept, thus introducing art into this modern yacht space.

Works of art by Nan Goldin, Matthew Barney, Nobuyoshi Araki, Piotr Uklanski, Louise Lawler, Roni Horn, Roe Ethridge, Tacita Dean and Christopher Williams will be your cohabitants during the cruise.

I ‘ ve honestly never felt so cared for, by a group of people who sincerely wanted each moment to be as perfect as it could be before. I could deeply relax and enjoy myself knowing each of you were thoughtfully providing my family with everything we could possibly want and need. That is a level of relaxation we rarely get in life! I was like a child again discovering the rocks and water around me. Beyond the hidden gems you showed us, beyond the perfect meals you fed us, beyond the clean rooms we came back to everyday, it is the kindness and warmth I will remember forever and hold in my heart on the cold winter days. Captain Stefanos Magiatis

Captain Stefanos was born in 1979 and grew up in Salamina island spending his childhood summers in the islands of the Aegean & Ionian Sea, learning through experiences that made him what he is today. A true ship and sea passionate seaman. Third generation seaman, following the path of his grandfather and his father, professional seamen in the Merchant navy. He graduated the marine academy of Hydra island and started his professional career in the field of cruise industry starting as a 2nd Officer and Chief Officer later; and after in cargo vessels, responsible for navigation, loading operations and safety ,navigating all over the world. In 2011 he switched to motor yachts which was always an industry that attracted him. When he obtained the Master Mariner License (unlimited tonnage), he grabbed the opportunity to take the command of luxurious yachts and from January 2022 joined the Libra Y. Captain Stefanos speaks fluent English. A low profile personality with communication skills who used to work under normal and extreme conditions. He is a friendly personality equipped with patience and persistence; he is able to manage people giving solutions under pressure. In his free time he likes swimming, bicycling and reading.

Engineer Thanasis Triantafyllou

Thanasis was born in 1984 in Salamina island, Greece, spending his childhood summers in the island of Paros together with his grandfather and his father both professional seamen, which inspired him to become a seaman too. He is responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of all equipment for both crew and guests areas of the vessel, manages and supervises the repairs and overhaulings. He graduated the Marine Academy of Chios island and has served in bulk carriers (cargo vessels) reaching the rank of Chief Engineer in young age. He joined Libra Y in 2022.

Chef Stratos Domazos

Born in 1981 in Athens Greece, Stratos started as an apprentice in luxury hotels and awarded restaurants. Having explored through traveling around the world the food culture of various countries he took the next step joining various yachts as a chef. He prides hImself on using the freshest local ingredients available and can often be found sourcing new markets and local delicacies. He strives to ensure excellence in every dish both in taste and appearance. Stratos joined M/Y Libra Y in October 2018.

Boatswain Alexis Giannakopoulos

Alexis was born in 1989 in Athens Greece. He has served private and charter yachts in Italy and Greece. He is an extremely refined and discreet person with a great sense of humor. He will share with you his knowledge on water sports. He enjoys spending his free time in nature and with his dogs. Alexis joined M/Y Libra Y in October 2017.

The motor yacht LIBRA Y is a superyacht of ample proportions. This 43 m (139 ft) luxury yacht was made at Picchiotti (Perini Navi Group) in 1977. LIBRA Y was formerly called the project or yacht name Solitaire Of The Isles. Superyacht LIBRA Y is a upscale yacht that is able to sleep as many as 9 passengers on board and has a total of 8 crew. The firm of naval architecture who actualised the design work for this ship is Bannenberg Designs Ltd and Don Shead. Bannenberg Designs Ltd / Seastyle / Studio Scanu in addition was the designer which over saw the overall interior design.

The New Build & Naval Architecture for Luxury Yacht LIBRA Y

The yacht's general design work came from Bannenberg Designs Ltd and Don Shead. The formal naval architecture plans are the creation of Bannenberg Designs Ltd. Motor Yacht LIBRA Y received her elegant interior designing from the interior design firm of Bannenberg Designs Ltd / Seastyle / Studio Scanu. Created by Picchiotti (Perini Navi Group) the vessel was fabricated in Italy. She was officially launched in Viareggio in 1977 before being handed over to the owner. A reasonable feeling is achieved with a maximum beam (width) of 7.55 metres / 24.8 ft. With a 2.35m (7.7ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly shallow. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure over the hull is fashioned from aluminium. In 1994 further refitting and updating was in addition performed.

M/Y LIBRA Y Engineering & Speed:

This yacht is engineered with twin hearty MTU main engine(s) and can find a impressive maximum continuous speed of around 19 knots. The engine of the ship produces 1950 horse power (or 1435 kilowatts). Her total HP is 3900 HP and her total Kilowatts are 2870. For propulsion LIBRA Y has twin screw propellers. As for the yacht’s stabalisers she was supplied with Vosper. Regarding thrusters she was built with Schottel. This yacht’s quick cruise speed is 17 knots which makes a range of 2500.

Advertised by DMA Yachting, the impressive charter yacht LIBRA 50 is a 50 ft sailing catamaran. LIBRA 50 spends the summer and winter season in British Virgin Islands. She was constructed by the famous yacht builder Fontaine Pajot in 2020. The spacious yacht layout features 4 large cabins and easily accommodates a maximum of 10 guests.

LIBRA 50 is offered primarily as a sailing catamaran. The the core layout is spread out from the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is where heart of the yacht is and that's where most of the meals are served. Andrew is sporty and adventurous, hence the reason he came across sailing. He has been sailing since 2012, where he first sailed across the Indian Ocean. From the beginning Andrew was hooked, deciding he would become a Captain one day.<br /> <br /> Andrew completed his Yachtmasters in the icy cold, stormy waters of Cape Town while at the same time studying a postgraduate degree in business. Thereafter, he furthered his experience as a first mate for a year in Malaysia and Indonesia. Not long after, Andrew captained his first yacht in Thailand, after which he also chartered an array of sailing yachts in Croatia. <br /> <br /> Andrew, a water sports enthusiast, is an experienced diver, spear-fisher, wake-boarder and surfer. Besides being an active soul, Andrew is a jack of all trades and you’ll find his down-to-earth nature magnetic – join him for a Captain’s Cocktail under a beautiful Caribbean sunset while Renata cooks up some local delicacies.<br /> <br /> Renata, born and raised in coastal northern New Zealand, has always been close to nature and the water. Seeing her mother’s passion for food and garden-to-table cooking from a young age, she experienced the joy that surrounds a beautifully prepared family meal. <br /> Moving to Europe in her mid-twenties, Renata spent time living in London and Amsterdam, relishing the chance to travel, taste and cook during holidays from her corporate job. She completed her Day Skipper certification, and after formalizing her culinary skills, began hosting charters in Croatia and Greece. The Moscow Free Library and Reading Room opened in March of 1901 in one room of the Brown Building in downtown Moscow. The library was open two afternoons and two evenings a week and was operated by the Pleiades Club and the Moscow Historical Club. In 1903 members of the two clubs formed a committee to secure funding for a library building from the Andrew Carnegie Library Endowment. The Endowment granted the group $10,000. In 1904 Moscow residents approved a special tax to raise money for the building’s operation. A lot was purchased on the corner of Second and Jefferson Streets and Boise architect Watson Vernon was hired to design the library in the Mission Revival style, unique for northern Idaho. The building was completed in 1906 for just under $9,500, making it one of the last Carnegie libraries funded. The first major building improvement was made in 1931 with an addition that doubled the available space. In 1938 the front steps were rebuilt, replacing the curved stairs which had been a feature of the original architecture. In 1964 the basement was remodeled into a children’s library. Construction started in August 1982 to remodel and add to the original Carnegie building. In April 1983 the building was opened to the public, with the Carol Ryrie Brink Reading Room in the historic Carnegie building designated a special place for the children of the community. This addition more than doubled the space again. The Moscow branch serves as headquarters of the Latah County Library District, housing the administrative, adult services, youth services, access services and technical services departments. The Moscow Carnegie Library was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Step inside 'Leninka,' Russia's largest and oldest library (PHOTOS)

The camera clicks cause all eyes in the hall to switch disapprovingly from the reading material in front of them to the photographer – the source of unwelcome noise. “Keep silence” here is as common a sign as “No smoking” on board a plane.

The moment we show up with our photographic gear, the library supervisors, like hawks, swoop on us from all sides, demanding to see our permission to take photos (thankfully, we have it on us). With custodians such as these, the largest book collection in Russia need never fear for its security .

Some history

Initially, the library collection was formed from the personal collection of manuscripts and rare books of Count Nikolai Rumyantsev, a Russian statesman. By personal order of Nicholas I, the Rumyantsev Museum was founded in St Petersburg in 1828. Over time, however, it could not withstand the competition from other institutions in Russia’s then capital, so the decision was taken to relocate the institution to Moscow. It was assigned one of the most beautiful buildings right outside the Kremlin walls, Pashkov House .

After the 1917 Revolution, the library flourished. The capital followed the library to Moscow, and the Rumyantsev Museum essentially became the country’s main depository of books; a new building and indeed a new book depository were subsequently built for it. Today, the library buildings occupy an entire block. And Pashkov House is also home to a music section, as well as a manuscripts and cartography department .

In Soviet times, the Rumyantsev Museum was renamed the Lenin State Library of the USSR, in whose honor the nearby subway station, opened in 1935, was christened Biblioteka imeni Lenina (Lenin Library). In more recent times, the library shed its Lenin prefix, but by then the name had stuck, and it is still referred to today as the Leninka.

In 2013, a special library department and reading room opened at Moscow’s Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. It houses the Schneerson Library – a collection of religious and secular literature by Hasidic Jews. Since then, however, the materials in the collection have been completely digitized .

Some modernity

Visiting the library of, say, Oxford University in Britain, one feels the hand of ancient history resting on the shoulder. Likewise, the Leninka plunges the curious visitor into the past, nearer in time, yet still gone. Green halls, cloth-covered tables, lamps – it is embalmed socialism with a human face, and perhaps the best that remains of the lost Soviet empire .

The Leninka is never empty, its cloakroom always buzzing with people. Every second, young women in short skirts and bespectacled professors ascend the main staircase of exquisite beauty. An eccentric fire-red haired lady of indeterminate age, humming something to herself, strides confidently into the music section, clearly a frequenter .

Inside the library are several reading rooms kitted out with computers, as well as endless corridors and recesses with reading desks. The conveyor belt continuously churns out all kinds of volumes and folios from the book depository. Yours truly has time to catch sight of an Italian teach-yourself guide, a book on the basics of accounting, and a rare edition of Boris Pasternak .

For some pilgrims, the library is a near religious experience – a ritual replete with antique books and tables with the old-world scent of wooden cabinets, parquet floors, and history itself hanging in the air. Switched on, the legendary green lamps plunge the room into an atmosphere of wonder .

A smartly dressed elderly gentleman examines a manuscript through a magnifying glass, nearby sits a stern-looking middle-aged woman in glasses, clearly a teacher. Their neighbor is a bearded professor, and one table away a group of students are taking selfies. Other students, Chinese, are diligently studying Russian (making up for time lost on less academic activities).

In the hall with card files, the atmosphere is more relaxed. A pensioner reads freshly pressed magazines so as not to purchase them. At the next table, a man in a tracksuit is solving a crossword puzzle. Is he passing time before catching a train? Or just exercising the grey cells? On the topic of exercise, some even do the physical kind. One visitor, for instance, spreads out a rubber sheet in a remote corridor and does gymnastics, nourishing the mind and body in true Ancient Greek style .

Some numbers

Today, the library houses more than 47 million units of storage in 367 languages, including some rare Oriental ones. In addition to publications (the library receives an obligatory copy of all printed works), there are rare manuscripts, printed versions of visual arts, photo materials, maps, sheet music, periodicals, regulatory acts, military literature, and, of course, literature on the art of librarianship. Here, one can also find every dissertation written in the country since 1951 .

The library has 36 reading rooms open to visitors, and Wi-Fi is near ubiquitous. Around 100,000 new users register annually. Employees offer up an interesting statistic: Every minute the library doors are opened by five visitors.

The Leninka is currently in the process of digitizing its archives. Its electronic library already has 1.3 million documents, not to mention access to remote electronic databases, including those of Cambridge University Press and Springer Publishing, various online library databases, and the JSTOR archive of digitized journals. Citizens at least 14 years old of any country can register at the library. And it is absolutely free – all that’s required is a piece of ID (plus passport and visa for those without visa-free entry to Russia) .

The procedure takes no more than ten minutes. You will be photographed and issued a plastic library card. Students often joke that the mugshot on your Leninka card is bound to be the worst you’ve ever had (you can always blame the photographer). That said, these days it’s possible to sign up online .

After registration, you will need to offload your coat and any large bags or rucksacks to the cloakroom. One small bag and a laptop can be taken inside .

The library is open from 9 am to 8 pm every day except Sunday. Be prepared to have to wait for the book you want, perhaps even a few hours while it gets delivered from the book depository. If time is short, you can always order a book and pick it up the next day .

For many a long year, the Leninka had a reputation as a place for meeting one’s better half – a wife or husband from a respectable professorial family. Some visited the library with this specific purpose in mind. If the walls of the Leninka smoking room could talk, they would tell quite a story. For it was here that romantic hopefuls came to chat so as not to violate the hallowed silence of the reading rooms .

In the Oscar-winning movie Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears , the heroine, a provincial student, pines away in the Leninka reading hall, eyeing up any number of suitable matches, before heading into the smoking room, where two young academics simultaneously offer her a light. According to the library supervisors, visitors still ask about the famous smoking room, but alas, it is no longer there – smoking is now prohibited inside the building. But don’t despair, there’s a wonderful canteen instead. If that’s not a place for kindred souls to find each other, what is?
