Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club
Queen's Harbour Yacht and Country Club in north Jacksonville surrounds a freshwater basin that is connected to the Intracoastal Waterway with miles of scenic marshland between. The golf course epitomizes Florida coastal golf with century-old live oaks draped with Spanish moss and towering pine trees throughout. Water is also a prominent feature, it comes into play on all but one hole. Rolling fairways lined with trees and well manicured greens bordered by bunkers, usually along the right side, make the course a challenging test of your skills. The par-4 fourth hole is ranked as the golf course's hardest. This dogleg left is punishing for those not careful with their drives but the elevated green will reward shots that hit on the right tier. The Queen's Harbour layout offers an interesting mix of risk-reward holes including long par 4s and par 5s that are reachable in two, which keeps the golf course accessible to players of all skill levels.

I attended a wedding reception at the QH Yacht & Country Club yesterday that had us in a private room and access to the back patio area. Open bar was pouring heavy. Buffet style food had warm bread, salad, asparagus, grilled zucchini and squash, rice pilaf, salmon and chicken marsala. Servers circulated before the meal with coconut shrimp, sweet and sour meatballs as well. The space is great, being outside was lovely- it was a perfect day. Outside patio has views of the golf course, waterways & marina. Inside the head table for the wedding party seemed so far away from the guest tables, with a dance floor between us and them. There was several jokes cracked about that throughout the night. Staff were on point- I had asked for butter for the warm rolls at dinner and they took care of our table first and then added butter to the buffet line- just a little missed detail that was fixed right away. The food was good for what it was, I know food at events can sometimes fall flat, but they did a pretty good job with timing to make sure everyone got hot food. John and I are about to add a patio outside and the patio at the country club had cement slab near the building and large paver stones beyond, extending the patio out. John asked what I thought about pavers and I said nope- we would have to worry about weeds eventually and uneven stones- because I was extra cautious when walking on that section of the patio in my high wedges. It was just uneven enough to make me nervous. I would be that person who rolls an ankle and crash lands in front of a crowd, lol. Overall- this is a solid venue for events.
If you can take the money for a women's event with 70+ attendees, then you should be able to have a conversation with said women without being condescending, rude and a liar. I would not want Ken representing my club as the "head pro".
Part of the ClubCorp family of country clubs and golf courses. My club was closed for maintenance so I ventured out to a nearby sister club. You'll need to check in with the security gate so give yourself a few extra minutes for that. Once inside, its an easy ride back, just a couple miles to the grand clubhouse. I pulled up to the bag drop and was greeted by one of the golf staff who grabbed my clubs and loaded them on a cart. Parking was super easy in their large lot, I grabbed a spot in the shade to beat the heat later. I proceeded inside to check in for my tee time and pay my cart fees. The pro shop is a little on the smaller side but seemed to have all the usual golf apparel and accessories. The staff was friendly and efficient. I went out and checked in w the starter (a fellow "Bill") who I would later learn was both super friendly and accommodating. He gave me the whole lay of the land and told me all the ins/outs of the course. He continued to check in with me throughout the round ensuring me he was closely monitoring speed of play and keeping the slow pokes moving. The course was in pretty good shape but as always, its the people that make the difference. Kudos to Bill and all the rest of the staff who made my visit so enjoyable.
Golf community with waterway that leads to the ICW
I've been here several times for events or to visit friends and family. It is a very nice neighborhood located near the beautiful Jacksonville inter-coastal. The grounds are impeccable and they often switch the flowers for the various seasons. It is always kept looking beautiful. The clubhouse is a great place for an event of any type. There are several different rooms and styles depending on ones needs. Plus, there is a gorgeous outside area that overlooks the golf course and has fire pits. The catering is always delicious. My favorite part would definitely be the fitness center in the front of the neighborhood. There is a large pool that is perfect for lap swimming or fun. There are tennis courts, a soccer field and a gym full of a large variety of machines.
Queen's Harbor is an outstanding club, with excellent staff, great food and drinks, a world class golf course, and frankly a far better value than most other Jax area country clubs. If golf is your bag, it's a no brainer. However, they also have a great racket club, swimming pool, meeting rooms and almost constant special events. Kristi Collins is a fantastic Membership Director, and all their staff from golf pros, to bartenders, to head chef and cooks, and events staff are all wonderful to work with. I live their burgers and on burger night each week another prep is featured. They have renovated most of their facility, and further renovations continue. Lastly, they also have a great yacht club so if you have a boat, definitely check out the club! Of course, the Queen's Harbor Development also has some of the best inter-coastal homes off Atlantic.
I've been to a few parties here and am always amazed at the service. Despite having 100+ to serve the food is always hot and delicious. The service is top notch, as well. Their beef Wellington h'oedeuvre (is this even how you spell it? ) is heavenly. Last time I went they were working on some much needed updates, so I expect next time I go it will look better (no more excuse our dust signs.) I've danced the night away quite a few times at Queens Harbor and am looking forward to next time.
Christmas Party
Interesting characters in the pro shop. Gentleman's name is "Campbell." From the beginning, I walked into the restaurant by mistake and got a door slammed in my face by one of the residence in the neighborhood I'm assuming. Couldn't find the proshop. Finally got into the proshop and the staff were the only ones in there chatting throwing stuff around to each other. Paid for my tee time and was given no information on where to get a cart. Had to ask a member which ones we can take and he had to yell at a guy behind a door to ask and then I was told "to grab just any of them." After I got a cart, there was NO SIGN or any sort of communication where the course started....... Completely in the dark and you have to just take a drive and hope you chose the right direction. Fortunately going left is where it is, but even as I got there, there was no starter and there was still no clear direction or signage to where hole 1 was... Total waste of time. By hole 6 tried to call proshop and nobody picked up until the restaurant finally did and I explained things to James. James said he would transfer me as well as walk down there and let them know as well. When I was transferred it still went to voicemail and I had to leave a voicemail explaining on the 6th hole that I was done playing. I wanted a "difference refund" for not playing the back 9 after how this entire experience started. I walk into the proshop and "Campbell" was in there again shooting the shit with a girl and barely acknowledged that I was trying to talk to someone if they got my call or if James spoke with someone. Campbell proceeded to proclaim his "title" of the proshop and with a snarky tone made me feel like the bad experience was my own doing and only offered me a 9 hole rain check... Entitlement can come in all shape and sizes and it's clear this course thinks because they're a yacht club that this sort of thing is normal. I would have rather paid more money to play at the public Jax Beach Golf Club.
This a review of golf course : We could tell by the course layout and the beautiful surrounings that in a day this was a Premiere course. Can't say enough about about the course layout - water, marsh etc. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Green Fee were a great value. Would definitely play it again.
Such a great private community! Has wonderful sunset/sunrise views, it's very peaceful anytime of the day, especially if your home is located on the intracoastal.
Great people, fantastic foods, and dreamy for those looking for a place to retire or meet family friends!

Nice course. Played the week after Thanksgiving. Course is in good condition, especially the tees. Greens are pretty fast and undulating and hard to read. Had 7 3-putts. Ugh! Good bit of water. Some really nice homes with bug boats next to the course. Nice course to play.
